Having grabbed some food and other supplies, the trainers were now gathered near the exit to the small settlement, the rolling grasslands stretching out northwards from their position as far as they could see. The lands were dotted with the occasional tree dotting the landscape between them and the horizon. Much of the grass was quite long, some of it nearly as tall as the trainers themselves, clearly never having met with the control of civilisation. There could be all forms of species in this land, hiding in the thick grasses, in the trees, even under the loamy ground. The sounds of other trainers could already be heard far out on the plains, some having spread out quite far already.

Before heading out, during food, Aiden will take the time to do some Inspired Training with his Pokemon so they were ready and limber prior to heading out into the field. "So, which way do you guys want to start heading?" asks Aiden once they reach the edge of the settlement and breathing the crisp clean air. Seeing Aiden warm up his Pokemon, Cole decided to join him in training his own team. His sendentary and subdued nature is cast far to the wayside as Cole runs his Pokemon through drills with enthusiasm. Cole's pokemon seem to thrive off his energy and take to the play battling with gusto. Wisp in particular seems excited to join in on the fun, usually left out of the battling until today.
Cole activates Ace Trainer and Elite Trainer features, draining 1 AP. All three of his Pokemon gain the benefits of Brutal Training and Focused Training. For the rest of the day: Default CS of Special Attack for Litwick and Ralts is +1. Default CS of Attack for Murkrow is +1.
With the training done, Cole's energy level immediately receds to his ordinary, meager, level. "Might as well head to the river and follow it out, I think. Probably the most Pokemon there."

Seeing that it was training time before headed out, Genki called out his team for a run. To build u agility, Trapinch and Ralts ran ahead of Genki, zig zagging back and forth. Being slower, Chinchou would do flips in the air as Genki tossed him up.
Experiance Training session with Agility Training Genki's team gains +1 to movement and +4 to initiative untill end of day Ralts gains +3 exp Trapinch gains +5 expGenki downed a bottle of water to cool off, as he met up with the others. "Following the water works for me, what do you say to a swim Prima?" she was bopping excitedly, as Genki lowered her into the water.
"Don't stray too far, and keep your eyes open for anything interesting- or troubling. We'll be right on the shore," he instructed his Chinchou.
"Choo!" Prima seemed pleased.

Each of the trainers carried out a different training regime- Aiden inspiring them with his passion and concern; Genki encouraging his team to move as quickly as they could, changing direction and speed with a suddeness; Cole focused instead on honing his team's concentration and pushing them to their limits.
That done, they headed towards the river, the water rushing with some speed towards the bay and the sea beyond. At this point the river was wide, with a heavy current as it reached the end of its course, thick vegetation covering the edges and nearing the marshes that led out into the land beyond. Whatever might be found here, would likely be a strong swimmer.

"How's the water Prima?" Genki asked, holding Prima's pokeberry in his right hand just in case.
"Watch your step Cole, this is going to be different than rocky cave floors," he gave his brother a playful wink.
Lowering his voice so as not scare anything off, "let's see what we see out here."

"Your concern is ill-founded, brother." Cole responds with a sly smirk. "Just make sure you don't go rocketing ahead and fall face first into a mud pool." Cole's smugness was undercut some as he just narrowly avoided slipping into a mud pool of his own.
He decided to let Aiden and Genki lead, clearly the more athletic of the trio. Cole had to admit to himself that they would be better capable to scout out and handle any hazards that came their way. SPeaking of scouting, Cole once again released Gustav. "Keep an eye up from above, would you? Come back if you see anything suspect or dangerous." At that, Gustac squawked once and took flight.
"AIden, you said you're a Medic, right? Do you often take to the field? I'm having a hard time picturing you behind a desk or patrolling a ward."

Aiden will take the lead, rolling up his pant legs and carefully stepping from rock to rock, trying to carefully find footholds before he puts his weight on spots; using his Survival training to find signs of Pokemon habitation.
"I actually travel quite frequently, the feeling of being out there hunting for medicinal herbs or aiding a stranded trainer lost in the woods is like nothing in the world. Don't get me wrong, I like being in the hospital, but I am better equipped than most nurses to be in the field. I used to go hiking and mountain climbing with my family when I was younger. When it comes to being in the hospital, I tend to like helping out with children, Kiba and Hope tend to help them laugh and play, and seeing someone who is sick smile or laugh can mean the world... even if they don't make it; I was able to bring them some happiness." With his back to the others, they can't really see the sad thoughts that pass across his face.

The trainers began to move along the river, Cole's murkrow flittering into the air to keep a lookout, whilst Genki's chinchou swam gently upstream, fighting against the strong current. Red shapes seemed to flitter around Prima, somewhere underneath the surface so that it was difficult to catch a clear sight of them. Meanwhile Aiden searched for any signs in the grasslands and the riverbank for any signs of habitation.
Though Aiden's eyes didn't spot anything specific, he did notice plenty of signs that there was life nearby: many sets of three-toed, lightly clawed feet that seemed to hop around; soft-padded footprints with four toes; even several burrows with dirt spread around them in a somewhat haphazard way.

"There's a lot of signs of life in the area," he says to the other trainers making sure to point out the tracks. "There's a few burrows as well." He points them out to the others.

Looking at the footprints Aiden indicated, Genki concurred, "Yup, good eye. It looks like a few different species too."
"I'm pretty sure the river is teaming with something too," rubbing the back of his neck he though for a moment, "I can't make out what's in there but, I had a thought."
Genki rummages throught his pack, shifting aside pester balls and a bottle of sunscreen from mom with a loving note attached, and removed his weighted net, and begins to study the water, "maybe I can snare something with this."
Edging hiw way to the edge of the river, Genki begins to wind up a pitch with the net, once he sees another glimpse of something (other than Prima) moving through the water, he will let loose his net in order to ensnare it.

Regardless of successful casting, Genki will step back from the edge and start hauling the net and any contents in may hold back in.

"Ah, yes, the burrows. I, too noticed them." Cole utters as cool as he can manage, surreptitiously extricating his foot from a burrow he stumbled into. "We'll have to keep an eye open for signs of movement underground."
Meanwhile, in the skies above, Gustav scans the surrounding landscape for sights of interest. He notes, but passes by individual and pairs of pokemon, looking instead for larger groups.

Genki flung his net with gusto, hoping that it would catch some of the things that were swimming in the swiftly moving river. Sadly, two factors conspired to stop him from achieving that aim: Prima struggled through the water into the path of the netting, causing it to fall off-target; and the angle of the throw- the net simply sat on the surface of the water, barely dipping under the surface more than a few centimetres.
While Cole removed himself from the burrow that he had stepped in, Gustav circled the area, keeping keen eyes peeled for any signs of the life that existed on these plains. A few moments after focusing, the murkrow dipped down for a moment then cawed, indicating a small stand of trees just a little further into the plains and away from the river.

Prima struggled to avoid the net as it careened into the surface of the water, causing Genki to wince for causing his pokemon to stress for a moment.
'Sorry Prima.'
The guilt was quickly assuaged by the excitement of the unknown; what is in the net? Genki emphatically hauled on his line, giving it one final heave to bring in onto shore. Crouching down to inspect what to be an exciting challenge, or a new friend; he was dismayed to see, it was nearly plant matter and various bits of mater detritus. Cleaning the muck from his net and shaking it out left his arms caked with filth half way to his elbows. Genki bent down to wash his arms, he scrubbed, longingly glimpsing the flashes of color he failed to reel in. Lost in though of what could be out there, Prima drew close, undetected, and sprayed a playful gout of water at Genki's face. The sudden surprise, and cool shock, caused Genki to stumble closer to the water, squinting water from his eyes.

While watching Prima spraying GEnki in the face, Aiden chuckles softly. "You two are adorable." He continues walking in the direction he was headed, to get a bit more distance between him and the others so that there was a wider sweep while looking for Pokemon.
Aiden chuckles as he watches Prima spray Genki in the face with water. For a moment he contemplates letting Hope or Kiba out of their balls. While Kiba would help with finding Pokemon, there wasn't enough dry land to keep the fire Pokemon happy and Hope would sink below the water as she was so small.
He stops for a moment, surveying the area around him again. Hearing Gustav caw he looks to the others, "It seems Gustav may have found something over that way." He points in the direction he saw Gustav dip.

"Oh?" Cole looked up at the distant cawing of his partner. It seemed that he was swooping insistently in the direction of a small wodded area not far from them. "It would seem he has."
"You can always count on Gustav to detect the things our lesser, human, eyes cannot. His are the eyes of the sharpest hunters of old, able to pick out the subtlest of movements of the tiniest blade of grass." Cole gazed proudly at his avian friend up above. "Well, that and shiny things." Gustav adored shiny things.
"We should investigate what he found, it is probably worthwhile" He turned to set off in that direction, careful not to step in any more burrows.

Whilst Genki reeled in his lacklustre net, and Aiden watched their efforts, Cole was completely focused on his companion's own suggestions of something a little further from the river than they were right now. He baegan to move towards the stand of trees, noticing how the slight breeze made the shade flitter and flutter in the bright afternoon sunlight. As he approached he began to see movement in the stand of trees, both around their base and also in their branches. As he closed even further he could see four shapes seeming to play around, all of them winged and flittering from ground to branches, two were rounded, with grey feathers, the others were mores svelte, their feathers blue and their tails split into two, sharply pointed prongs.

Shaking of the water like a wet dog, Genki lightheartedly spoke as he recalled Prima, "Ok Prima, that's enough," he couldn't contain a chuckle.
"Gustav spotted something huh?" Genki got into a crouching action position, which in truth, did nothing to help him, save making him feel cooler.
Aides and Cole indicated so Genki could see what they had found. Reaching into his pack, he removed his pokedex, checked to insure the volume setting was low and pointed it at the smaller bird with red feathers. "Let's see what we have here..."

"Indeed" Cole replied as Gustav perched on his shoulder. Cole affectionately scratched the Murkrow's lower beak, proud of his companion. "Behold." Cole cast out an arm in the direction of the bird Pokemon flitting about the copse of trees ahead. "My faithful companion's fine eyes have found us our very first gathering of Pokemon. Two species no less, perhaps even more hiding within. They were no doubt carried here on the winds of fate, the very same that drew us to this grove."
He turned to his companions with a glint of excitement in his eyes. "Destiny asks of us, what say us in reply?"
