Caervin freezes as the calm surface of the lake is broken by the horrid beast. His first thought was This is outta my depth. He couldn't fight so near to the water! "Rune, it's up to you!" he says, tossing a ball into the fray. An odd little pokemon jingling happily emerges, but takes one look at the Tentacruel and freezes in fright. "Hurry and blind it!"The Klefki zooms forward, aiming for the Tentacruel's eyes as Caervin dashes around helplessly, far back on the shore. Caervin uses Focused Orders as standard and Splash as a shift action. Rune moves from L13 (release position) to H11, and uses Dirty Trick: Blind on the Tentacruel. Stealth check was 23.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg Stunned at the sudden appearance of the creatures in front of them, her eyes grow wide with fear as she looks onward at their size and stature. Her fingers still upon her skin. Why? Just why? She wanted some semblance of normalcy for at least a little while before they jumped headlong into this adventure of theirs. She knew it was impossible to prolong--she had said so herself back at the house--but she hadn't thought it would be so immediate that it would ruin their time upon the beach! With frustration clear upon her face, she stands to attention, bringing fire alight into her palms and swaying to a rhythm she only knew before throwing out a Pokéball right beside Mikel. White lights bursts from the red and white sphere, forming into the shape of her Pokémon. "Iris! Take out that overgrown Jellyfish!"

Despite all of the vaunted speed of Elizabeth and her Pokémon, Rune's deft release and subsequent blinding cloud of sand strikes first, the cloud of sand covering the surface of the gelatinous monster. This attack is swiftly followed by a jolt of electricity from Lia, vindicated at last. Surely now that she'd pointed out the danger, Mikel would have to pay more attention to her. It seems to be an effective form of attack, but the foe's bulk absorbs it like it was nothing. Uh oh. The flailing beast sprays a sudden shower of deadly poison barbs that stick in the sand. It's probably a bad idea to walk there. Especially in bare feet. Luckily the stream of bubbles it launches goes just as wide as the spikes... to much less detriment. Mikel throws his Pokéball... but the flailing tentacles of the beast knock it away onto the sand near one of the trees to Mikel's left. That's some strength... From the Unown that moved to engage Rune, a burning ring emanates. It doesn't seem to do too much to the giant jellyfish, but it superheats the Klefki, causing serious damage. The ring that comes from the one near Mikel instead feels to him like someone rammed a metal bar into his gut. And everywhere else on his body. It seems to have a much more profound effect on Lia, though. The last rune though, the double one, just hovers, as if watching the battle. Its eyes still balefully glow. Iris, after making sure that the - admittedly inaccurate - rain of poison was over, turns his considerable mental strength to attacking the Tentacruel. It also sems to be effective, but the jellyfish is still easily absorbing the damage. Rune takes 31 damage, and two injuries. Mikel takes 25 damage. Lia takes 37 damage and two injuries.
Trainers, take an intuition check.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg Of practiced ease, Elizabeth backflips into the air, her form gracefully twirling before straightening herself and landing on the fiery flames of her chosen friend. Her fingers grasp onto his reins and, with a flick, dashes them forth. "Iris, help Caervin's Klefki!"The Togetic nods at the command before flying towards his Fairy-in-arms.

When Lia sees her electric shock seem to mostly absorb the bulk, her eyes went wide. It had just come out of the water, surely a shock like that should have fried it? When Mikel attempted to capture the weird thing, Lia looked annoyed at him. Why did he want such a creepy blob tentacle thing when she was so adorable?! That was asking for bad things to happen! She considered kicking him in the leg to express her disappointment with his option when one of the eyes moved toward the two of them. When the burst of energy slammed into the two of them, Lia nearly flipped out as how much pain it was. She quickly teleported backwards as far as she could in pain. Mikel should have taken that hit for her or something! How had she been hit like that? Annoyance filled her and despite the various attacks slamming into the creature it seemed to be not even phased. Lia didn't know what this was, but she had to get Mikel to stop holding back. The emotion pokemon took a deep breath and reached out with her telepathic powers to find that little switch inside Mikel. Once she had it, she flipped it... Meanwhile, Mikel grunted in pain from the impact. Luckily the creatures seemed to be focused on the front lines and were ignoring his allies behind him. He cringed when he saw Lia in pain though, but luckily she had teleported out of the way so she should be safe for future attacks. As he got ready to swing his sword at the creature near him, however, he started to feel strange. "No...no...not now..." He grunted as he felt the desire to murder every enemy before him starting to push out any other thoughts. He brought his free hand up to his face and clenched tightly as he tried to resist. "Stop..." He grunted. You could kill these things with ease. It doesn't matter how, does it?
Shut up...No...I won't give in!
Just open up...Release it. Use your real power. And kill. Erase everything.
"Guys...stay...away..." He grunted as he felt himself losing control. Then a cold laugh escaped his mouth as everything turned to red. He looked up at the various pathetic beasts around him. He wouldn't need the stupid piece of steel in his hand. The little metal toy was nothing compared to the dark magic that poured through him. "Weaklings." He said, his voice much colder than his typical one. Then Mikel moved quickly, charging toward the monsters and jumping over the tiny spikes the blob had placed. He lifted his left hand which turned black before pointing it toward the water so that it would slam into the weird beast and one of the runes. Surely the weaklings he was stuck traveling with could handle the single Unown behind him with their numbers. If not, well...they deserved the fate that awaited them. A moment after it started to glow a sphere of dark energy fired from it slowing growing in size before exploding. Lia teleports to J18 and uses Taunt on Mikel, hits. Mikel is enraged. +5DR Mikel shifts using jump to clear the toxic spikes and goes to (see below) Mikel uses Snarl on Tentacruel with hopefully able to hit an Unown while at it. Positioning and all this shit will get all fucked up once Tentacruel moves.
Not sure how to "If than" an entire movement square and cone 2 attack which can either be a T shape (1 then 3) or a 2x2. -Assuming the tentacruel doesn't move then it would be move to I11 and diagonal fire so it hits Tentacruel and Unown. -----Alternatively if I11 is taken, Mikel goes to J11 and fires in T shape to hit Tentacruel and Unown. -----If Tentacruel moves, Mikel tries to take advantage of a position that allows one to hit two which shouldn't be too hard when he can cover a 2x2 or a 1-3 T shape unless they get far away from each other.
Snarl, Cone 2, Sonic, Critical, Special Dark, on his lower special attack combat stage of targets by 1, 43 special dark damage to Tentacruel (primary), 45 special dark damage to a secondary (Unown).

It was time to check that guy into a mental hospital, Caervin noted anxiously as his personality seemed to shift in an instant. Honestly, why were people like that even allowed to wander around society, when they themselves knew what a danger they might be to others? He resolved to approach a temple or police station to ask about it later. He was even more troubled by the thought of travelling with the guy now. "....Alright, let's do as he says, then. Rune, come back here!" His Klefki was already pretty hurt-- but he smiled thankfully in Elizabeth's direction when she chose to step in where his own pokemon had taken a beating. He pulled an Energy Herb out of his side pouch and quickly rubbed it over the burned parts of the keyring's steel exterior. Rune moves towards Caervin and Caervin will cover the remaining distance, healing Rune up a bit.
Rolled a 2 for Intuition.

Once again, the Tentacruel unleashes a barrage of toxic barbs into the ground, blanketing even more of the battlefield. That's not good. It then unleashes a hideous, discordant wail. Poor Rune, so close to it, is just left shuddering, its keys flailing around madly. The berserk Mikel jumps heedlessly towards the Tentacruel... but, unfortunately, in his rage he didn't notice - or perhaps care about - the new barbs the Tentacruel laid down. They go through his footwear, pumping venom into his body. It doesn't seem to affect his abilities, though. The Tentacruel's bulk seems to still absorb it, though clearly it is suffering. On the glyph near Rune, though, it seems to be barely hanging on. The Unown that, as to this point, has taken no part in the battle swivels towards Mikel, staring at him. As soon as Mikel glances at it, he begins to slump to the ground, unconscious. The glyph near Rune unleashes a ring of shadowy energy...and luckily it seems to not cause as much damage this time. Well, to Rune, at least. The beast from beneath is not so lucky, and it seems much more heavily damaged now. Iris is less lucky with his metallic ring of doom, and though he seems to absorb it fairly well, it apparently hurts. Iris goes to help Rune, and with a peck on the glyph, unleashes some of its power into the glyph, disorienting it...hopefully. Tentacruel uses Toxic Spikes! Tentacruel uses Supersonic on Klefki. Klefki is Confused. Klefki hurts itself for 12 damage in its confusion. Mikel is Poisoned, and Slowed until the end of his next turn. The "Q" Unown takes 2 injuries. Mikel is Asleep from Hypnosis. Tentacruel is on it's last HP bar. Tentacruel gains an injury. Rune takes 7 damage from Hidden Power. Iris takes 18 damage from Hidden Power. Unown "Q" is Confused.

Lia sighed when she saw Mikel drop so quickly due to the hypnosis. So much for that plan. She quickly ran on her stubby legs straight ahead and jumped over the spikes to land next to Mikel. She hated having to snap him out of the berserk so quickly, and definitely hated being so close to combat, but she needed him to wake up. When she landed next to him she took a deep breath and tried to release a burst of calming healing energy. Mikel's eyes flickered open as he quickly jumped to his feet before grunting at the pain in his feet. He didn't know what had happened, but somehow he had collapsed and was closer to the Tentacruel then he remembered. Realizing this wasn't the time for worrying about specifics, he reached for his second and last pokeball and tossed it at the Tentacruel. It looked injured and far more tired, hopefully he could get it this time. Until Kirlia's turn, Mikel still has +5DR for a total of 10 Def, 9SpDef (however he has no evasion). Once Lia acts, Mikel gains his evasion back, but loses the 5 DR putting him at 5Def, 4SpDef.
Lia's turn is using her overland to run and jump over spikes to land in J11. She uses Gentle Vibe healing Mikel of Rage and Sleep, and healing Klefki (assuming it doesn't move) of confuse. Anybody within a burst 2 of Lia on her turn will have combat stages reset and all volatile status conditions cured.
Mikel's turn upon waking up will me to stand up and toss a pokeball. He also loses 6HP from tick damage. Pokeball stuff Accuracy: 9 Capture check: 76

Caervin winces as Rune is unable to levitate back to him; that giant water pokemon really had to be taken out if they wanted to survive this fight. Unsure, he unclipped one of his free pokeballs from his belt, and tossed it towards the water.... but in his anxiety, it fell short. No matter. "Rune! Use Spikes so it can't follow you up onto the land!" he shouted. The Klefki, hearing her master's voice once again, shakes off the confusion and scatters spikes about the field alongside the toxic ones. Then she zips backwards from the shore as fast as she can! Priority (Advanced) for Klefki's turn after using Spikes. Spikes on G11, H11, I11, J12, G12, H12, I12, J12. Then Rune moves to H17.
Caervin flunks his pokeball throw and will pick it up (along with some of the Spikes/Toxic Spikes if allowed/available) at the end of the fight.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg There wasn't much Elizabeth could do as she watched Iris and Rune be pummeled by the arcane force that had bursted out from the Unown entity. The shock from her Iris's pained sound left quickly as she centred her gaze towards the Unown in front of her. "Hey! Didn't anyone tell you not to turn your back on a lady?" She shouted before casting a burst of flames towards it. After shaking off the pain he felt from the previous blast, Iris gazed angrily at the creature in front of him that now swayed a little from his Sweet Kiss. With a huff, he turned his attention towards the tentacled beast before yawning at its direction. Elizabeth's Standard Action: Use Flame Burst on Unown X, AC 2 (20), Damage 47

As Rune jangles away, one of the Tentacruel's tentacles whips out and swats at him, though, thankfully, not very hard. He does leave some spikes in his wake to dissuade pursuit. Hopefully Mikel doesn't need to move his feet very much... At least he's now awake. Thank goodness that the water isn't any deeper than Lia's waist, though. That could pose problems if it were. Mikel's tossed Pokéball hits the beast, and it momentarily flickers out of existence into the small confines of the ball... but only momentarily. It almos immediately breaks out, shards of ball flying everywhere. The fire that burns from Elizabeth's hand simply immolates the strange glyph, and it begins disintegrating in midair, still smoldering. At once, the giant jellyfish turns towards her, and launches two bursts of water, one at her, and the other at her mount, heedless of it's own safety. Indeed, it gives Mikel an opportunity to attack the thing, though it doesn't seem to do too much to the massive bulk. The Unown near Iris begins to glow, and suddenly Elizabeth can't remember how exactly she just did that attack... It then slides to the side, away from the Tentacruel, and unleashes another ring of darkness. It doesn't seem to do much, though, so, that's a good thing. The other, double, Unown approaches Mikel and Lia, before unleashing a ring of its own, that stung the warrior and his Kirlia as if a toxic wave just hit them. Mikel struggles to stay up, while Lia is...not so lucky, and topples over. She might want to get out of that water soon... or else there may be a problem. The giant Tentacruel simply takes the hits with ease, but then seems to become a little bit drowsy from Iris' expenditure of power. Rune takes 13 damage from Struggle. Elizabeth takes 32 damage and 2 injuries from Water Pulse. Take a DC 10 Acrobatics or Athletics check (with your +3 bonus) to remain mounted. Apollo takes 19 Damage from Water Pulse. Elizabeth's Flame Burst is Disabled from Memory Wipe. Iris takes 5 damage from Hidden Power. Mikel takes 31 Damage from Hidden Power. Lia takes 40 damage from Hidden Power, and 2 injuries, and is knocked out.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg Like an Angel of Victini, she smiled triumphantly at the smouldering melting Unown remains. Her doubts and fears of their journey ahead left her at that moment, her optimism growing as her fiery hands raged with brilliancy. But as quick as the moment came, it vanished into a flicker, her flames becoming mute. Puzzlement came upon her eyes as she stared at her fingertips before a gush of water spewed forth from their side unexpectedly, throwing her off guard, as she held onto Apollo for dear life. Apollo neighed angrily as the water came, dousing him and his Trainer, before dashing forward to escape the remainder of the onslaught. The shrieking pain upon her ears was all Elizabeth could focus on as he ran. She gritted her teeth as to not scream despite all of her being wanting nothing more than to release her agony, her whole body having trembled against the blast like her skin was being peeled roughly from her bones. What had she gotten herself into? Drenched from head to toe, and still a little shaken, she stared frightfully at the tentacled beast. Her lower lip trembled as she locked eyes with it as if pleading to not be hit again. Iris, in the meantime having watched the fall of Mikel and his Kirlia, chirped loudly at the two creatures in front of him before summoning a gust of wind to blow against the Unown. Elizabeth's Shift Action: Move to I14 Elizabeth's Standard Action: Flirt with the Tentacruel, AC 2 (7), Charm Check - 8
Iris's Standard Action: Use Fairy Wind on Unown Q, AC 2 (18), Damage - 33

When Mikel snapped out of his hypnosis and had been regaining his senses was when everything started to go wrong. He saw the Tentacruel fire an attack past him and he found himself too slow to move to intercept it. When he saw Elizabeth get hurt and in pain, he winced. Heroes were supposed to shield the maidens from harm. He had hoped the pokeball would make things easier to deal with, but that was ruined when it busted out. When the Unown flies toward her, Lia's eyes go wide. She had snapped Mikel out of his hypnosis and he was awake so she was not willing to remain on the front lines and eat it. As soon as the burst of magic went off, Lia quickly teleported as far back as she could, barely avoiding the burst of energy. She was exhausted from the rapid teleport and so when the next change to attack came up, she just focused on catching her breath. Lia teleports 4m back to J15, avoids damage, but used her turn so has to "recharge" Mikel, on the other hand, was not so lucky to avoid the magic burst and he could feel himself barely able to stand. With the poison in his veins and his struggling to stand he knew that more likely then not this would be all he could do before his body gave up on him. He clenched his fist not wanting it to end like this. He needed to protect the others at the very least but with two creatures still standing and only enough energy for one more movement he didn't see how he could help much. If Mikel gets his turn before being KO'd Mikel looked between the blob and the Unown beside him as he debated which to attack. The tentacruel was the bigger threat, but the Unown would probably be quicker to drop and with only one attack left perhaps dropping the weaker creature to lessen the out-going attacks would work better. He quickly stepped to the side to give his attack as much momentum as possible and swung his sword at the Unown, pushing past his weakness and using the last bit of his strength to put his full might into it. If he was going down anyways, there was little reason to hold back. After he made his swing, he felt the poison move rapidly and the world started to go black.
1m step to J11 (no AoO since still in melee with both), Flail vs Prime (19), damage: 29 physical normal, poison -6hp for knock out If Mikel gets KO'd by the Tentacruel like a bitch before he gets to do anything dashing However, Mikel's speed wasn't enough as the beast hit him before he could swing his blade. The onslaught of attacks took him down before the poison could and the world started to go black.
Mikel gets rekt If Tentacruel attacks Elizabeth and Mikel gets to at least get KO'd being heroically by jumping in front of the attack Realizing that regardless of which he attacked, he was going to be going down, Mikel's best bet was to keep his allies standing. When the Tentacruel attacked the maiden, Mikel used the last bit of his strength to get between her and the attack, taking the blow before succumbing to his injuries and having everything fade to black.
Since "Shadow or something along those lines" made me roll regardless of minimum being enough, Mikel can move up to 7m to intercept any ranged attack going to Elizabeth. Since 7 could run circles around the mon its safe to safe if she targets he can take it without moving out of melee for an AoO

Everyone was in so much pain-- and only minutes had passed since the terrible pokemon had emerged from the water. He couldn't stand by any longer and watch his new companions get hurt-- no matter what Mikel was spewing in that godawful demonic voice. He charged the Unown that had assaulted Rune earlier, lunging towards it with all the agility and focus he could muster. It took all of his concentration to ignore just how close to the water he had gotten... Rune floats the opposite way, steering clear of the fire-wielding symbol, and spreading more Spikes around the area. Rune moves to K14 and uses Spikes, scattering them at G9, G10, H9, H10, I9, I10, J9, J10.
Caervin moves to E11 and uses Aerial Ace, 20 Physical Flying damage to the (Q? Key?) Unown. Neither Spikes nor Toxic Spikes affect him. Currently has 5 evasion.

Rune launches his spikes, but they all just sink harmlessly to the bottom of the lake. Sadly, spikes do not come with pontoons. You might not want to walk in there, though. Swimming should be fine. As Caervin slams his hand down onto the strange glyph, he notices that...it feels weird. Not like anything he's ever encountered. The closes things he can think of were those weird tablet things in that old shrine. But even those didn't feel like this... Huh? Even as he thinks, the surface under him begins to dissolve and melt, scattering into nothingness. Elizabeth's pleading doesn't seem to have any effect on the beast, but nonetheless it stops focussing on her, only covering the area around her with poisonous spikes, before shooting off another blast of water, this time at Caervin. Thankfully it goes wide of the mark... and then it starts to seem a bit drowsier. Looks like Iris' attack had some effect. Satisfied that everyone was safe, Mikel swings at the glyph in front of him. As it connects, he registers, in the back of his mind, that only one of the symbols is changing as he strikes, unlike the other times he's hit one. But that's the last thing he realizes. The symbol glides forwards scans the battlefield, before seemingly fixating on the creature that had escaped it beforehand - Lia. Its eyes glow again, and the Kirlia follows in her master's footsteps... Seeing his target stolen by Caervin, Iris instead attacks the enemy that looks the most similar, and blows the magical wind at the remaining glyph. It seems to just barely be holding on, shifting one of its shapes after the attack. The "Q" Unown faints! Tentacruel resists the Flirt. Tentacruel's Water Pulse misses Caervin. Tentacruel is Drowsy. Mikel faints from Poison (at least the poison is cured...). Lia falls Asleep from Hypnosis. The last Unown takes an injury.

static.zerochan.net/Esmeralda.(Notre.Dame).full.973982.jpg Elizabeth having watched Mikel fall a second time, her eyes go wide with fear before screaming, "Mikel!" Whilst part of herself wanted to heal the fainted warrior, her and her mount were also in a bind of being surrounded by Toxic Spikes. Opting to leave him for now before the toxins set themselves upon Apollo's hooves, they pounced over Mikel's dazed Kirlia before settling themselves between the two Fairy-Type Pokémon. With a derisive snort, Apollo hoofed at the sleeping Pokémon as Elizabeth fished for the medical supplies she kept on handy. Iris, on the other hand, chirped happily at Caervin's victory over the Unown glyph with his wings fluttering him close to the wayward wanderer, ready to fight by his side. Staring steadily at their two final opponents, his eyes began to glow an iridescent colour once more as he focused his Psychic Attack towards the cruel tentacled beast. Elizabeth's Shift Action: Bounce over to K16 before moving forward to K15 between Lia and Rune Elizabeth's Standard Action: Apollo wakes up Kirlia
Iris's Standard Action: Use Extrasensory on the Tentacruel, AC 2 (20), Damage (57), Tentacruel is Flinched Iris's Shift Action: If there's a possible way to flank the Tentacruel, Iris moves to the spot needed to completely flank it.

Lia was stired awake by the hoofs near her head and when she woke up and saw the Ponyta so close she was startled. However, her eyes instantly looked for her master. Seeing him down, she quickly called on her healing powers and released a pulse of healing power onto him. Healed by the pulse released from his pokemon, Mikel pushed himself to his feet and quickly scanned the battlefield to get caught up. He took a deep breath and readied his sword. He was getting more and more injured and this fight was taking its toll. Deciding to finish off the Unown that was behind him, Mikel twirled and stabbed the creature with his sword. Once it was dropped he could worry about the water beast. Lia uses healing pulse on Mikel healing him 32HP putting him at 29. Mikel then uses Feint Attack on the Unown in J12. If Unown is down he will attack Tentacruel. Auto hit 28 dark physical damage If Unown is down he shifts to I10, H10 (both slow terrain so 4 movement then G10) (staying in melee so no AoO) Edit: Oh and if the water is too deep fine. I swim under the tentacruel so not slow

He could do this. It wasn't so hard, was it? The Unown before him fell under the weight of his hand, and he turned his eyes to the rest of the fight. Mikel was facing down the other Unown-- he could handle that with ease, Caervin thought-- and the others looked ready to take on the massive Tentacruel itself. Maybe he could... help? He lurched towards it, sweeping his legs at the pokemon's mass, hoping to throw it off balance (?!) a bit and slow it down. Rune jingled, moving towards Mikel's target to help finish it off if need be. Caervin shifts to H11 (look ma, a backbone!) and uses Low Blow on the Tentacruel. Spending AP. Acrobatics check was 16.
Rune moves to the Unown and uses Draining Kiss, dealing 51 Fairy Special Damage.

Caervin's whack at the giant gelatinous mass seems to disorient it a bit...although it didn't feel very nice to have your foot go partway into something's body. Just try not to think about it. Mikel's word neatly bisects the glyph, each half dissolving into nothingness. With its disintegration, a change comes over the Tentacruel, and which begins to - ignoring your attempts to hurt it - make its way out towards the middle of the lake, where it submerges, with nary a ripple marking its passage. Yay! You win! And get Experience! And all lived! ...probably should have said that last one first.
Take 3 TXP each. As well as 100 EXP to split amongst your Pokémon as per the usual method (i.e at least half to those who participated).

With all the Unown down Mikel takes a deep breath. "Ugh...that was rough." He said sheathing his blade. He looked down at his two new injuries caused by the various burst of explosive energy the Unown creatures had inflicted on him. While pain was something he was no stranger to he knew he would have to take it easier for a bit. He could draw on the pain to strengthen his attacks, but that didn't mean they didn't also weaken him.
He looked over at his allies. "Anybody hurt too badly?" He asked as he tried to straighten out some of the damaged parts of his outfit. "Sorry about that Elizabeth. I could have stopped that attack, but wasn't fast enough." He said embarrassed. "Are you alright?"
He looked over at the other man, "And you? You didn't get hurt coming up that close to the front?"
