The unique Foongus is drawn into the ball, which chimes without so much as a shake. At the pleasant sound, the field of Foongus erupts in jubilant cheers. After a short period of celebration, when it becomes clear that no one else will be 'chosen', they settle down and begin to bury themselves in the shadowed dirt again. The pokemon, now recovered, are quickly sorted out to their rightful trainers. Safari Ball Foongus for Julie. Level 6, Relaxed, Male, Spinning Dance Ability. Knows the Camouflage move and has the Blender capability.
Starly, caught by Julie. Level 5, Male, Proud, Intimidate. Knows Pursuit.
Pidgey, caught by Steven. Level 5, Modest, Female, Keen Eye. Know Air Cutter. Now, with the Foongus situation resolved, you all are left with the question of how to spend the rest of your time in the Safari Zone. You could head to the savanna, with the occasional rock outcroppings and creek, or perhaps under the eaves of the forest? Maybe over toward the lake you saw earlier, to search for Pokemon that might gather there? Or you could exit the Safari Zone early, and go on to another attraction at the park. The choice is yours.

"Well, I'm glad that that was all settled peacefully," Val says, "There was... rather a lot of them. It's nice to know not everything here likes to attack us on sight. Even if they almost seemed like a cult or something..."
"That one that you caught, though, seems interesting," she says to Julie. "Would you mind if I took a look at it?"

Steven, now having regained all of his Mon, both old and new, carefully moves away from the field, before releasing his newest team member, greeting the Pidgey with a careful smile. "Hi! I know this is kinda sudden for you, maybe, but... welcome to the team!"Charm: eyGt7UWW3d6 3d6

Julie looks to Val and smiles widely at her, pulling out the pokeball and releasing the Foongus onto the ground. "Not a problem. Why, do you want it?"

Val bends down to have a closer look at it. With only one of them, it didn't seem so worrisome. Especially since she's realized that not everything here wants to cause harm. Though, with the Ekans, Durant swarm, assorted birds... Though, admittedly, I did step on Ajax's tail... I wouldn't be too happy about that, either, if I had one.
She's surprised at Julie's question, though. "What? Uh, I mean, it's cool, especially seeing how it's different from the others... but you caught it. It's yours. I mean, I wouldn't say no. But, uh... I mean," she says, suddenly worried, and a defensive, "I'm uh, not trying to imply that I would want to force you to give it up, if that's how I came across!"

While Steven was greeting his new Pokemon, and the two girls were talking about the Foongus, Matt had been looking around the area, before cocking his head a little bit and pulling out a Safari Ball, mindlessly tossing it up and catching it as it came back down.
Turning back towards the group, he raised an eyebrow "Looks like there's still a bunch of this place left to see, which way should we go next?"

Julie smiles at Val and shakes her head emphatically. "No, you didn't come across that way! I just like catching things, especially rare variants like this. If you don't take it I'll probably just send it back to the lab for study. That's one of Ivy and the lab's main specialties, variations and adaptations within specific pokemon species. So if you don't use it, I probably won't either, so I just figured I'd offer!" She'd then look to Matt and shrug. "I'm up for wherever! I just wanna catch more~!" She'd have an excited sparkle in her eye as she says this, obviously having the time of her life.

"Oh, uh, well, thanks!" she says, a little surprised. "If you're sure that you don't want it, I'll sure use it. For one thing, I'm sure there'll be a lot of Water-Types around here..." She gives a little bit of an inward shudder at the thought of the ocean. It'd be nice to at least have some defense against things that could possibly drag her under...

Julie tosses safari ball to Val and smiles down at the little Foongus. "Val will take good care of you, alright?"

The Foongus slowly turned to face Val with a reverent, if a bit...dim look on its face. "Foooooooon?"
Around the same time, Steven released his newest team member. The Pidgey materialized, shaking it's head vigorously. "Pidge?," it asked Steven, tilting its head to one side. Then it started looking about frantically. "Pidge? Pidge-Pidge? Piiid...," it trailed off, sadly...that is, until it saw a Scatterbug slinking around on Steven's shoulder, paying it no heed. Steven could see the predatory glint in the bird's eye as it licked its beak...

Steven grin changes into a frown when he notices the Pidgey eying his Scatterbug hungrily. "Oy! No! The bug is a friend, not food. If you're hungry, we'll go get food later, but no pecking teammates, understood?" he says firmly, looking sternly at the Pidgey. Command check: zjSnitOn3d6 3d6

"Uh, hi..." Val says, a bit hesitantly. She isn't quite sure how to deal with a Pokémon she hadn't caught herself. Besides Dinah, but.. that was different. "So, uh, you seem like a Ryce to me, I dunno if you like it, but, well, it's what came to mind. Uh, not like the food, though. I'm not planning to eat you."
Looking around for something easier to talk about, she focuses on Matt's question. "Why don't we just head away from the cliff, see where that takes us? At least if we do that, we shouldn't risk having the same thing happen again. Uh, without passing through the Foongus patch, of course. I've already accidentally trod on enough Pokémon this trip..."

Matt nodded as the girls answered his question, before turning to Steven, noticing the other boy with his new Pidgey "Right, come on Steven, we're heading out now!" He calls out before turning, releasing Bulwark at his side
Looking out across the plains ahead of him, Matt pointed to a outcropping of rocks in the distance "Why don't we make that our goal for now, and decide what to do from there?"

"I guess that works for me," Val says, recalling her new partner, and sending out Ajax. No sense in making the same mistake twice.

The Pidgey looked up at Steven, cocked its head to one side, and frowned. "Piid...," it said, hanging its head dejectedly. At this point the Scatterbug looked back over its shoulder, making a rude gesture at the Pidgey, which clearly angered the bird...although it didn't take any actions. At least, not with Steven around...

Steven sighs and rolls his eyes as his Scatterbug provokes the Pidgey, before shaking his head. "Good enough. You're both still need names, as well..." He thinks, before smiling. "Okay, I got it." He looks at the Pidgey. "How 'bout Tracey for you?" He moves his gaze to the Scatterbug. "And Zack for you?"

Zack and Tracey both look at Steven with the sweetest most innocent smiles in the world, batting their eyelashes at him. You get a distinct feeling of impending trouble from their behavior. As the group makes their way to the rock outcropping, it isn't long before they begin to hear a few new sounds. Trickling, running water, like a small creek or brook, and splashing noises, as well as the distinct cry of pokemon. The land slopes up as you reach the outcropping, affording you the opportunity to get a first glance at what lies beyond unseen. Down below, there are a few different types of pokemon. Some are lounging in the river, others playing by the shore, and still others resting or eating in the ankle-high grass. There are many different pokemon, and a lot going on. Pokemon Edu and Perception please. If you want to get any closer unnoticed, Stealth.

Steven sighs as the two mon smile 'innocently' at him, shaking his head while smiling slightly, before returning the pair to their ball. This should be fun... He then looks up to see where the others are going, quickly catching up to them.
Once they've reached their destination, he takes a few moments to take in the field, observing the wildlife strutting about the grass and around the river. "Hmmm... I can see ... seven species from here... Patrat, Blitzle... Sandshrew... some... wow... brainfart, I could've sworn I recognized those... not sure about the others," he says, gesturing to the mon as he names them. He turns to the others. "Wanna get closer to take a better look?"

"Where are you looking?" asks Val, glancing around. "I can't see some of the ones you're pointing out. Ooh, I do know some of the ones down there, though. That one's a Hippopotas, and there's a, um, what was it, oh, yeah, Phanpy! That was a little bit hard. You don't see too many ground-types up north. Too many ice types."
"Going down there?" She takes a moment, and tries to judge how deep the water is. It doesn't look like such a huge creek, so it's probably pretty shallow. And not that hard to stay away from. Hopefully. "If there's anything down there that you guys want, we could do that, yeah. I mean, I could probably just sit here watching, since I've never really seen any of these naturally, but I'm sure that'd be pretty boring for you."

Matt bit his lip for a moment, before nodding as if coming to a decision "Yeah, lets go down there! I wanna catch that Sandshrew" He adds the last part with a bit of a grin
"Besides, I could always go for a swim, and I'm sure if we approach them in the right way, they'll be more like the Foongus and less like the birds" He adds while unbuttoning his flannel setting it aside with his bag. He grins even more as he pulls off his beanie and shakes his hair free, the golden locks falling a bit further down then normal "Or would you prefer to try and catch them by surprise?"
