"Yeah, I guess," Clay sighs, still responding to the suggestion of going for backup. "I dunno, it just kinda feels like giving up. I mean, we came all the way out here -"
He trails off as he sees Rei offering her coins to the Murkrow. "What are you - oh! You think it'll go for it?" Sure, the Murkrow was pretty clear that it thought it was smarter than the poachers, but he doesn't know if it'll risk its neck, despite the number of shinies it's being offered now.

The swift, sneaky bird zips over and snatches the singular coin out of the air, retreating back to its perch in the tree before anyone can do much to react to its movement. It doesn't take its eyes off the pile of other coins though, which means it probably hasn't gone for them simply because it can't carry so many at once. Despite its cleverness, it's still a small-ish bird, and only has two talons and its beak to hold things with.

Tiki watches the bird swoop in for coins, and tries to catch it while it flies around. Acrobatics Check: BJiuawTv4d6 4d6

Murkrow Acrobatics: cn96YxFf3d6
Tiki tries to grab the Murkrow, but it squawks and banks in the opposite direction, narrowly avoiding her grasping hands. It responds by pecking her on the head as it goes by.3d6

Tiki holds her head, and flails. "Owww! Arghh! You...! Temperance! Give this bird a time out!" Tiki tosses out a ball, and her drowzee appears. It waves its hand around at the birb, and uses its signature hypnosis.
Hypnosis cannot miss.

The bird just laughs at the Drowzee's attempts to... do something. It's not sure what, only that it didn't work.

Rei merely shakes her head as Tiki does... typical Tiki things, and tries to just nab the more agile bird with her arms and then begin a combat with her Temperence. Rei sighs.
"Tiki, I was attempting to get it to like us more by giving it coins but now it just likes messing with you more."

Tiki stamps her foot. "We'll run outa money before it helps us! I thought that would work..." Tiki pouts, and temperance has a sit down, looking bored as usual.

"Stupid human!" it caws at Tiki. It plays with the new coin it swiped, while keeping one eye on the group to see what they get up to next.

Clay suddenly has an idea. He turns his back on the Murkrow theatrically and heaves a sigh. "Whatever. This bird probably couldn't help us anyway. You'd have to be really smart and sneaky to get into the poachers' camp and mess with them. C'mon, guys, let's see if we can find someone clever to help us."
Now it was just a question of whether the Murkrow could tell it was being provoked, and if its pride would overwhelm its wariness.

Murkrow Insight: 0XlFwGRO2d6
"Human go bye!" it crows as Clay dramatically walks away. It's totally calling your bluff.2d6

Clay has serious trouble not looking startled when the Murkrow calls after him. In fact, he probably doesn't succeed in looking like he's keeping his cool, even from behind - his posture gives him away. "Well, it was worth a try," he mutters quietly. In a more normal voice, he says, "You're good at words, Rei. You try. He likes you anyway, he just thinks I'm dumb. I can't... I'm better at Pokémon than people, and I was never any good at talking anybody into things, honestly."

Rei makes a worried expression but finally relents.
"I suppose there's no harm in trying."
She gestures for Tiki and Clay to back up out of the way.
"I'd apologize for my friends messing with you but something tells me you enjoyed that regardless."
Rei looks down to the shinies and back up to the Murkrow.
"Let me make myself clear. I like you. And I'd like if you'd travel with me. At the very minimum your interesting, but you've quickly proven you are far more clever than any other pokemon... even a lot of humans I've seen. I know you aren't invested in our cause. Why would you? It wouldn't make sense for you to have any. But good work requires payment. All these shinies are yours, and I'll get you more, and I'll even get something made to carry them that you can perch on and place any new shinies you find right in there. Anything you'd like. Because we really need your help to do any of this."

The Murkrow narrows its eyes, watching you carefully as it listens. It doesn't immediately decline your generous offer, so it's clearly thinking it over carefully. After several minutes of silence, it puffs itself up and declares that it will go with you so it can get more/new shinies. It does not promise to stop messing with people though.

I suppose that's the best I can ask for.
Rei nods, and holds out a pokeball, hoping it'll at least let her catch it.

It allows the ball to take it in briefly, then quickly pops right back out and alights on your head. Seems it doesn't like being confined.
Murkrow is Male, Hardy, level 5, with Insomnia.

Sano sits back, respecting the Krow's independence. It was frustrating, but at least it knew how to string us along.

Tiki watches Rei interact with the bird. She tilts her head, and walks up. "Huh...W-Will it help us now?"

"I... thiiiink? Or at least I hope?"
Rei turns to the Murkrow.
"Hey, were you ever given a name? Or do you have one yourself?"

Clay gives an exasperated little chuckle as the Murkrow disappears into Rei's ball - and then reappears right on her head. "Told you you were better at this than me."
He leans against a tree as Rei negotiates with the Murkrow, attempting to keep a look out, just in case they've made enough noise to attract attention. Not that he knows for sure that there's even anyone else around. "Might be a nice time for a poacher to fall into our lap," he mutters to himself. The four of them together might have more success handling one than Rei did on her own. After their frustrating dead-end at "attacking the poacher camp is a bad plan", he'd rather like to punch something.
