"Well I'm not sure if it was the one following us but it certainly is the one I met yesterday."
Rei fishes through her bags and takes out another shiny coin. She hands it to Clay.
"Clay, try this. Sano might have the right idea but it responded well to shiny things."

As soon as the shiny coin is revealed, the Murkrow fixates on it. It keeps looking back and forth between the object of its desire and the varied humans in your group.

Clay grins slightly as Rei passes him the shiny coin. Of course. He rolls it back and forth in his hands, making sure the Murkrow can see it as he continues. "You like shinies? We might think about parting with this one if you can tell us what we want to know. Where do humans camp out around here?"Intuition (improving Murkrow's attitude): 13

The Murkrow watches the shiny carefully. In human speech, it says only what it told Rei before: "Three miles west. First marker. From there, 10 miles south. Second marker." This could mean one of three things: 1) It doesn't know anything else. It is a Wild after all, considering Rei saw it's shiny-filled nest the other day, 2) It knows more and simply isn't satisfied with a single shiny, or 3) It thinks its helping anyway.

Clay doesn't register for the moment that this isn't that helpful, especially since he doesn't know that it told Rei this already. He's too busy staring up at it with wide eyes. "You speak human? I didn't know Pokémon could learn to do that!"

"Human! Human!" The bird squawks loudly.

Tiki lets out a large gasp. "IT CAN TALK!? THAT'S SOOOO COOL!! LETS CATCH IT!"

Rei looks on, thinking deeply as the Murkrow repeats the phrase she heard before.
"Huh. It said that before. I believe it can only quote what it's heard people say back to it, and I had considered someone using the markers in question to find their way to a camp out here but without a starting point it's impossible to tell."
Rei holds an arm out to stop Tiki.
"There's no reason to raise your voice, Tiki. We 'are' trying to get it to help us, and catching it might close that option if we anger it."

While Clay is distracted looking at Rei and Tiki as they start talking, the bird quickly snatches the coin from his grasp, fluttering up into a tree and cawing in such a way as to sound suspiciously like mocking laughter.

"Hey - !" Wow, that bird is fast. Though, frankly, his "mom" would probably have smacked him for letting himself get distracted enough that the Murkrow could get the drop on him. He lets out an indignant screech that translates more or less as "What's the big idea?" Or possibly something less polite.
Of course, at that point it occurs to him that even if it only repeats what it's heard in human language, it could easily still be able to communicate in Pokémon language. "Okay, you've got the shiny. You're a clever bird, I get it. Can you point us toward the jerk humans? They're gonna make trouble for everybody, you know."

In pokemon speech, it finally responds with more than bird sounds. "You want the 'hunter' humans, right? The ones that like to steal Pokemon? They don't bother me 'cause I know how to hide, but I've seen them around. You won't find them in places like this. These are 'fake camps' I heard one of them say. They have other birds too, sentry birds. Not my kind, but other forest birds, like.. (at this point it makes something akin to a gagging noise) Pidgey. Hoothoot as well for night shifts. They're smart, and careful. Almost makes me respect them. Not half as clever as me, but for humans they're not bad. They also have these big snake Pokemon I haven't seen around here before. Snakes with fangs as long as your human arms!
If you want to go after them, you gotta be sneaky like them; and you aren't very sneaky. I've been following you all day and you didn't even notice me until an hour ago when I *let* you see me just for kicks. If you humans want to go and get yourselves killed, I'll happily eat your eyes when I'm done. Eyes are the tastiest part."
From here, the Murkrow starts listing off its favorite parts of human corpses to eat when it can get them. Murkrow are scavengers, after all, but it seems to take some sort of enjoyment from the disgusted look on Clay's face as he listens to it ramble on.

Clay relates the relevant part of what the Murkrow tells them to the rest of the crew, and finishes off with, "And... now it's just talking about his favorite bits of people to eat." Clay makes a gagging noise of his own, pulling a succession of faces the Murkrow probably finds hugely entertaining. "Ugh, scavengers. So basically the camps are decoys and it thinks we're dumb. Those snakes sound like what you ran into, Rei?"

Rei wrinkles her nose when 'Favorite part of humans to eat' is brought up.
And here I thought this bird was charming...
"Yes that sounds exactly like what I faced off against. A very strong beast."
Rei thinks for a moment.
"Well if they had the foresight to create decoy camps, and set up a lookout network... I'm not sure what to do. We aren't really sneaky, we may need help. Perhaps heading for assistance from the guild?"

Tiki tilts her head. "Hmm. But can the guild help us be sneaky though? It's really hard to sneaky..." Tiki thinks hard, and stares at the ground. the life of a sneaky person is hard for a bombastic, flashy entertainer.

"I dunno... do we have a lot of time? I mean, we've been up here a couple of days... I dunno how long we have until they go after the Zangoose. Who are kinda jerks but don't deserve getting snaked."
Clay slumps down on a fallen log. How are they going to handle this? They can't have gone through all this trouble just to hit a dead end, right? Coming up to Cerulean to track down the poachers before they attacked the Zangoose sounded like a good idea, but it's starting to sound like they might as well have just waited near the Zangoose to hit them when they attacked after all.

"I don't know if the guild has any way of making us sneakier, but I'm starting to think we might be a little out of our league. If we are having this much trouble finding them, I doubt we have much of a chance beating them on our own." He crouches down, tracing a circle in the dirt. "If we head back to the Zangoose we'll at least have their support, if not the strength of some tougher guild-members to back us up. I know we can beat these guys, but backup sounds like a good idea."

"I was thinking more along the lines of of enlisting sneakier guild-mates but we might have some help here if we can convince them."
Rei takes out her money purse and empties the coins into her hand. She settles down on her knees and places the coins in front of her.
"You seem to appreciate these more than most, so you can have the rest of mine. And maybe if you want to mess with other humans you can help us?"

Tiki is very unsure of what to do next, and watches Rei empty her coins out. "What's with the money? Oh, is it for the black bird?"

Clearly desiring shiny objects is an obsession for the Murkrow, as it eyes them and Rei warily. While you all were talking, it appears to have stashed the previous coin it swiped from Clay someplace. Where that place is, you couldn't say. Maybe in the tree its sitting in? For that matter, it had what it wanted, why didn't it leave already? Last time it nabbed some shinies, it flew off immediately, even if it also paused to let you follow it to mess with you. Bleh, who can even know the mind of a Pokemon like Murkrow?

With it not really reacting and just watching, Rei figures maybe it's a bit aprehensive. She takes one coin, and flicks it a couple times in the air with her thumb before launching it to a mid-point between her and the Murkrow.
