Tiki folds her arms, and sways from side to side. "Hmmm.....Hmmmmmmmm.....You guys think the mayor has some leads to go on?"

Rei is put a bit at ease at Sano jumping to dissuade the notion of her being vulnerable and is thankful for it.
"I suppose you are right Sano. As for the mayor, she might know, it could be worth asking. I'm not sure if she'll know more than we found out, however."

After much discussion, and a quick backtrack to Cerulean to talk to the Mayor again, you find that time has gotten away from you, and the day is quickly coming to an end. You have perhaps 3-4 hours of daylight left, which may or may not be a good thing. On the one hand, you can't see as well in the dark. On the other, the poachers are far more likely to be active at night, when they are less likely to be spotted.

Clay makes a frustrated noise. They've spent a whole day on this and don't hardly have much of anything to go on. He was sitting outside while the others talked to the Mayor, mostly because he still wasn't entirely sure how to cope with the attention he got from her, and hearing about their lack of luck there really hasn't helped matters.
"Maybe we could try again in the dark? If they lit a fire or something they'd be easier to spot." Despite Clay being aware of humans' lack of night vision, he, well, doesn't have a lot else in the way of ideas.

Tiki yawns, and pops her back. "Stupid, dumb, ugly poachers. Wasted a whole day! WASTED! We could have gone back to the beach! Uuugghhh....K....One more time....Let's go find these jerks!"

Rei nods in agreement.
"We'll just have to be very careful."

"I know it's disappointing, I want to destroy these people as much as you do. I'd be more inclined to attack under cover of darkness if we had a good idea of where they were, so perhaps we could lay a trap that didn't involve endangering one of our teammates. Maybe the Mayor has an idea of an area of rare Pokemon that is prone to poacher attacks."

"Hmm. Do we got any rare pokes? Hmmmm...Ooo! What about Flower!? She seems pretty rare, and we'll instantly know when they are nearby."

"Maybe Raido counts? I know he's fairly rare in this area, although that one poacher might recognize him..."

Clay tosses Flower's Pokéball in his hand idly. "Flower might work. Never seen anything like her outside of that swamp. And she's kind of a beacon so she'd be easy for them to spot..."
He bites his lip. "Only thing is she's kind of easy to hurt if it's not an attack that just goes through her. I'd need to pull her out right away once we spring the trap. So what would we do, just find somewhere on their route and wait?" Clay doesn't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing.

Tiki nods. "That seems to be it. Let's try checking the places we've been, and other routes. We just need to run into at least one of them. One guy will surely lead us to more. Let's move out!"

After much searching and getting lost/turned around (including ending up back in town somehow!), you finally find one of the 'clearings' that the bird Pokemon mentioned. Sitting on a perch in the middle of the clearing is a very familiar (to Rei) Murkrow.
"Ah-haw! Caw-haw!" it screeches mockingly. It seems to be laughing at you.

Rei doesn't seem to notice that it is indeed laughing, she's just happy to see it once more.
"Oh! Hello again friend!"
Rei waves and smiles.

Clay, on the other hand, knows when he's being laughed at even if it's in Bird. He doesn't look pleased about it - until he hears Rei speak up. "Do you know this bird, Rei? Is it the one who was watching us earlier?" he asks in what he probably thinks is a whisper. It's... still pretty obvious. He stares the Murkrow as close to straight in the eye as he can manage from down here, and chatters up at it. "Hey there! Do you know this area? We're looking for a bunch of humans that hang out around here and I was wondering if you could help."Stealth (whisper to Rei without the Murkrow noticing): 2 Intuition (improve the Murkrow's attitude): 12

The bird looks Clay right in the eyes. It holds his gaze for several long moments before cawing loudly, startling Clay by breaking the eerie silence. It doesn't say anything, just caws.

Sano has a bit of understanding about the goings on of Murkrows, since there was a flock that roosted near his old dojo. He attempts to make a gesture of good faith by offering a morsel of food from his pack. Intuition to improve disposition: bv|6cuS73d6 3d6

The Murkrow seems uninterested in Sano's offer of food, which Rei can attest to. Tiki does indeed recognize these eyes as similar to the ones she spotted earlier. It seems likely that this is the same bird that's been messing with them the entire trip.

Tiki gasps, and points at the bird. "There! I recognize those eyes! They were watching us earlier in the forest!"

"Caw! Aw-haw!" it screeches. It's either confirming your suspicions or mocking you for not realizing it immediately. This bird sure is a jerk-face.
