"Red Child can track but that doesn't do a lot of good if we don't have somewhere to start." Clay shrugs fluidly, shaking his head. "Air view might work. Maybe we can try heading up the mountain, see if we can spot any signs? That or - wait a sec. Maybe I can find a Pokémon, see if one of them has seen them. Could at least tell us if we're on the right track..."Unless somebody outright tells him it's a bad idea, Clay will proceed to start looking for wild Pokémon to pump for information. Of course, finding wild Pokémon willing to hang around with four humans and their own Pokémon blundering around the woods might be the trick... Clay is going to search for a wild encounter! Clay finds a very familiar-looking Pokemon. One of those yellow, electric mice. It's unlikely to be the same one as before, but even so. Hearing his tromping through the forest, it has already placed itself high up in a tree and growls at Clay when he approaches. Seems to be by itself, but that's what he thought last time too, and it led him on a merry chase indeed.

Oh, great, it's one of these. He's glad now that Fan is the one he has out; he's pretty sure Red Child would remember them, too, and a Growlithe with a grudge would make negotiations difficult.
Hey, settle down, I'm not looking for trouble. He raises his hands, making it clear that they're well away from his Pokéballs. Not that he has any unoccupied ones anyway, but he doubts the mouse can tell that. Can we talk without any zapping?

The Pikachu doesn't zap, but doesn't stand down either. In Poke-Mouse speech, it tells you to go away. Humans aren't welcome here.

The mouse's speech doesn't quite click for Clay, but it's easy enough to get the gist from body language. He takes a step or two back just to try and calm the darn mouse down. Then he tries again. I just wanted to ask you something. Not looking for a fight. If you help me out I'll be out of your fur.Persisting might risk getting it properly upset, but his only other option is to go back to wandering around in hopes of finding a less prickly Pokémon. He wonders vaguely whether this attitude is normal for these guys. Maybe it's him, though he's not sure what about him could rub every zappy yellow mouse he meets the wrong way. A warning zap blasts the ground in front of Clay. Apparently it's not having any of that nonsense.

"Gah! What is it with zappy mice?" Clay manages to keep his voice down for that, then looks up at the Pikachu again, speaking as evenly as possible. He's dropped back into human speech but he's trying to keep his voice as level and calm as he can, hoping to at least calm it down a little. "I'm seriously not looking for trouble. There's a bunch of poachers that are causing trouble for everybody, and I want to stop them. I'm not looking to pick a fight."

The Pikachu continues growling, but the sparking stops and it doesn't fire another warning shot. Seems maybe it realizes you aren't fighting back, and may actually be telling the truth. Maybe now you can get through to it?

Whaddaya know, a breakthrough! Clay takes a deep breath, trying to keep himself calm now that the mouse has settled down a little. Okay. Do a bunch of humans have a den around here somewhere? "Den" is as close as he can get to "camp", especially since he's not sure how well this Pokémon understands human lifestyles. They're bad guys, my friends and I are trying to get rid of them. I'd really appreciate the help.
And there's one of those big, closed-mouth smiles again. Don't want to bare teeth at this guy when he's only just stopped firing warning shots.

The Pikachu says that humans do occasionally pass through this area, but since they've never accosted its den, it doesn't pay attention to them. It also doesn't know 'good' or 'bad', only 'human-creature'.

Clay sighs a little. Great, all that effort and it's a bust. He should've figured. Maybe he should've tried to find a Pidgey or something, something that gets a high-up view of the area.
Do you remember which way they were going? He isn't holding out much hope there, since it outright said it wasn't paying attention, but he can try. Well, thanks anyway. He briefly considers asking it to keep an eye out, but he doubts it would just because he asked and it wouldn't really have any way to find him again if it bothered to.
Unless the Pikachu actually has an answer for his last question, he'll have to return to the others and report a bust. Well, mostly. At least they know the poachers pass through this way.

It says that they always go in the same direction whenever it happens to see them, and they never come back in the other direction; or at least it hasn't seen them do so. If he really wants to know, the Pikachu suggests asking the bird that's been watching them the whole time Clay was talking. It's seen that type of bird going the same way as the other humans before.

"The wha...?" That's better information than he was expecting from what it had said before, but the mention of a bird watching them distracts him. Clay spins around, looking for the bird in question, because what the heck why is he being watched?
Fan, who has actually been halfway quiet up to now because she remembers what Clay looked like after the last time he got zapped, starts looking another direction in hopes of spotting the bird herself.

Clay cannot see anything, but Fan briefly thinks she spots a reflection of light from her tail flame sitting in a tree top. Hard to be sure though.

"I don't see it." He's more disappointed than upset, not calling the Pikachu a liar. Fan stares intently in one direction for a moment, but then shakes her head and makes a frustrated noise. "Well, uh, thanks for the advice, anyway. And for not zapping me."
He sighs and returns to the group. "Okay. Good news is, we're on the right track. Found one of those zappy mice and it says they come through this area. Bad news is it didn't pay much attention to where they go from here. Weird news, they only go one way? Dunno which way, or why they don't go to and from the same way. And..." He lowers his voice. "I think they might be spying on us? The mouse said there was a bird watching us, but Fan and I couldn't spot it. Apparently it's a kind that hangs around with them."
Though now that he thinks about it, he's not entirely clear how the bird spying on them would work. That is, unless the poachers can talk to Pokémon the way he can, and he's never heard of anyone else doing that. But then there are a lot of things Clay's never heard of.

Tiki watches the intricate ballet of wild boy, and electric mouse chitter, and squeak at each other. It is quite fascinating. When Clay returns, she tilts at her head at all the info he acquired from squeaks. "Huh? A bird is following us? Why would it? I haven't seen one..." Tiki puts her hand to her brow and scans the tree line.

Tiki gasps, and tugs at Rei's sleeves. "Ooo! Ooo! OOOO! Right there! There we eyes there, and now they're gone!" Tiki points out the spot where she spotted the red eyes. "Umm...I don't know if it moved...."

Rei strains to look, but doesn't see it.
"I mean, there was a Murkrow that was enjoying sending me on a goose chase yesterday... Maybe it's that?"

Tiki takes a moment to giggle at Rei's pun. "Hehehe. I think you mean wild 'crow' chase, but I get it. Could it be that though?" Tiki watches the spot for any movement.
