"Maybe there's one more person to talk to. Maybe if we find the foreman's boss we can try convincing him what we found in here. Maybe he'll listen better. Cause right now I don't feel like tomorrow morning will go well..."

After some time spent wandering the village, you find what looks like the mayor's house. Even if they aren't the person you're looking for, they can probably tell you who is.

Clay glances over at Rei and Tiki. "Okay, so, uh... how do you talk to mayors? I dunno how dealing with actual leadership types works. 'Respectful' has so many weird rules for humans..." The only leader type he's really dealt with so far apart from Master Nob is Lady Ashandra, and he hasn't gotten his face burned off so far so he figure's he's doing pretty well, but he doesn't know if dealing with her generalizes well to normal people.

Tiki scratches her head, as she looks at herself. Very flashy, and cute if she says so herself. But, this probably wasn't the most qualified person to negotiate a humanitarian effort. She happily looks to Rei. "I'm sure Rei here knows what to do!" She beams.

The mayor turns out to be a woman in her early to mid 20s, who is currently reclining at her desk with her feet up. She glances at your party as you enter and quickly sits up.
"Hey, cool! New people! I'm Kalani, Mayor of Cerulean! What's up?" She beams at you.

Tiki is surprised the mayor is so young! And a girl! She waves excitedly. "Hi! I'm Tiki! This Rei, and Clay, and we are from the Adventurer's Guild! We came by to take care of few problems in the surrounding area. Our first big problem is all the construction work going down near Mt. Moon. All the loud explosive tools are upsetting the pokemon, and mountain guardian inside! It said if more careful, and peaceful work methods aren't reached it could lead to escalation in retaliation like more violent tremors, or even cave ins. Sooooo....We have come to you to see if we could find a compromise." She takes a big winded breath, and smiles.

The mayor takes in Tiki's words, tapping a turquoise nail against her pink lips.
"Well, this is the first I'm hearing of a Mountain Guardian. I know I told them to work fast 'cause I want everyone to be able to see what's on the other side of the Mountain, but I don't want to upset Pokemon that much. I mean, any sort of digging/expanding is probably going to upset them a little, given that it's their home and all (which is why they're expanding the current, natural path, not making a new one) but Foreman-san tends to get suuuuuper into his work. You give him a job, and a timeframe to do it in, and BOOM! he gets it done. But yeah, I can totally ask him to slow down if it's upsetting this Guardian or something. Definitely not what I wanted to do."

Clay looks a little stunned by the sudden torrent of words. (Well, that and the fact that every second authority figure he meets seems to be cut from the same cloth as Tiki.) He moves his lips slowly as he tries to parse out just what the Mayor said. "... Uh, so you'll ask him to slow down? That's great! 'Cause, uh, between you and me the Guardian seems kind of the same. It's, uh... I dunno the polite word for it."
That was a lot of 'uh's, but Clay's a little bowled-over still. "But yeah. Apparently they don't like the big drilling or something. The Guardian lives in this big cave, I think it's right under the path so I guess it's shaking the ceiling?" An idle thought that occurred to him earlier is making itself known again, now that the Mayor's mentioned not having heard of the Guardian either. "How come the Guild knows about the Guardian but nobody here does, anyway?"

"Yup! Gonna ask them all to slow down the work. Not worth it if we make some Guardian Pokemon or whatever mad and it destroys the town. Dunno why the Guild knows about this Guardian and nobody else does. Maybe it isn't that talkative? Ooh! Or maybe it talks in a secret language that only whoever sent you here knows! OOOH! Secret languages are so much fun! My friend and I once made up a secret language when we were like.. six or something... and it was totally hilarious when everyone looked at us funny when we'd use it around other people! So much fun! Hmm. Now I think about it, haven't talked to her in awhile. Should definitely do that! Reconnecting could be a lot of fun... oh wait... that's right. She lives in Celadon now. Being all rich and snooty-like. Bleh. And to think, Lana used to be fun to be around..."
The mayor continues to ramble on for several more minutes as you stand there, dumbfounded. Then she realizes you're still there.
"Ohmygosh! I'm soooo sorry! I totally forgot you were there.. was there anything else I could help you cuties with?" She winks at Clay, grinning ear to ear.

"Waaaiiiit... Does your rich snooty friend from Celadon have a Pokémon that looks kinda like a fox and does a weird mind crush-y attack? And a spooky spirit one with teef like thif?" Clay holds up his fingers in front of his mouth, imitating a Gastly's fangs.
It takes him a long moment of blinking before the implication behind the wink sinks in. When it does he turns a little red in the cheeks, underneath the tan, and goes quiet very quickly. That is not a sort of attention he's used to.

Tiki bobs up and down excitedly as she listens to the woman. She then giggles. "Hehehe! You're super cool! Secret languages sound cool too! I've never made one up, but it sounds pretty fun! I write my own music if that counts as something! Oohh! My and Rei are like best friends, and we sing and dance together! You should definitively reconnect with your friend! OOhh! I recognize that name! I battled her butler! Really fun, but she was pretty mean though...OOHH! But, I'm sure someone like a best friend can help that! Soooooo....uuuhhhhh....I think that may do it....Hopefully things will be ok in the morning then!"

Mayor/Mega-Tiki giggles at Clay's imitation. "Yup! That's her alright! She got like suuuuper into "Ghost Pokemon" after her parents got rich from their discovery of the Type. She's also scary when she gets mad." She becomes deadly serious for a moment as she adds "NEVER. Get on her bad side. Seriously. She'll do... I don't even know what! Just don't ever make her mad."
The Mayor begins excitedly clapping her hands and telling Tiki that it's totally awesome that she writes her own music and dances and stuff. "If the Guardian calms down when you tell it we agree to take the digging slower, you should totally come have a party with us to celebrate! You can even sing for the whole village!" She looks at Clay again, giggling. "And I can dance with your cute friend here."

"I'd have a feeling something like that Guardian is older than most, and may think it 'knows better' than most, and would rather do things on it's own rather than just ask. But luckily we've made this parlay and hopefully with you telling the foreman that it's ok to slow down, we'll reach a peaceful solution for all."
Rei takes another mental reel when she hears that her friends family had 'discovered' ghost pokemon and gotten rich off of it. The wealth didn't bother her, but the fact that there was evidence of it existing ALL ALONG while her father and grandfather slipped into the madness of their obsession. To know that there was evidence all along in Saffron, and just one piece of it could have changed their entire family's lives. She gains an unatural anger toward this woman she hadn't even met.
Rei looks down, and finds she was gripping her umbrella so hard her knuckles had turned white, and quickly puts her other hand on the first and tries to calm herself down. Hoping to change the subject before someone notices, she poses a question.
"Miss Kalani, I am curious, you said something was happening on the other side of the mountain and you wanted everyone to see it?"

"If she's scary when she's mad I musta just seen her a little grumpy. Or maybe I'm just not scared of anything. Either that or winning puts her back in a good mood. 'Cause I ran into her and she insulted me a bunch but she didn't really scare me. We just battled." His face falls a little as he remembers how that fight went. That had... not been fun.
He turns red again when the mayor talks about dancing with him. Okay, yeah, not a mistake. He edges closer to Rei - and has a convenient excuse to do so when he notices the tension in her shoulders. In an undertone, he mutters, "You okay? Do you, uh, need a minute?"
Her question makes him look up, frowning. "That's... a good question. I mean, I like it over there but I dunno if most people would be really interested." Come to think of it, this is as convenient a chance as he's likely to get to visit his family, and if nothing else he should warn them that more humans might be showing up soon.

Mayor Kalani seems confused by the questions for a moment, then smacks her fist into her palm. "Oh! No, no, there isn't anything going on over there (that I know of). I just thought 'well, nobody has ever really been over there, so it might be a cool new place to go see'!" She looks at Clay when he mentions that he likes it over there. "What do you mean? I thought humans generally didn't live over there?"
