The trio follows the foreman to the cave entrance as he gets the workers to all shut down their equipment and head home for the day. He curtly reminds you that you've got until right around 6 am tomorrow morning (~18 hrs) to finish this and clear out before they come back to work.

When they are all finally gone, Rei breathes a sigh of relief.
"Wow I didn't think that would actually work! Whoo! Now lets go talk to the guardian and see what it could do to help us to convince that very unpleasant foreman to stop. Maybe with bigger tremors! And then we can finally get to the beach!"

Tiki perks up because the beach is almost within her grasp. She tugs at Rei's sleeves. "Yesyesyesyes! Let's go see the guardian!"

"Let's get going then!" Clay doesn't bother pulling at Rei - he starts heading right in, partly eager to see what the cave looks like but mostly just wanting to do something. He's half hoping for a wild Pokémon attack so he has an excuse to punch something...
"Come on, Fan! Light the way for us!" His Chimchar sister is just as eager to be up and doing something; she scampers back and forth, her fiery tail lighting up the shadows of the cave. Clay's pretty sure that even if the workers left the lights on in the areas where they're working, the guardian won't be hanging out in any of those.

The cave seems eerily silent. The light cast by Fan's tail flame occasionally will highlight a Rock Pokemon here or there, but most of them shy away from the light. The mountain is pretty big. There's no telling where the Guardian may be, or if its even possible to reach it. The Ground Leader had said that he never met the Guardian, but implied that his Branch Officers (which were either completely unidentifiable or absent entirely) had 'heard of' the Guardian; or perhaps that they had 'sensed' something. Come to think of it, he was really vague about the whole deal. Maybe there is no guardian at all, and he just wants the project stopped? But if that were the case, why involve you at all?
Bah! All this thinking is making Clay's head hurt; and he's not even the one doing it!

As Tiki calls out a second time, there is a loud rumbling that shakes the cave/tunnel. Rei thinks she can just barely hear something alongside of/within the rumbling, but Tiki's echoing voice (and the rumbling itself) make it nearly impossible to be certain.

"Whoa!" Clay stumbles over through the shaking tunnel and tries to cover up Tiki's mouth. "Let's, uh, not do that. Remember this guy doesn't like loud noises?"

He clams up and starts listening hard, trying to pick out the sound Rei thought she heard.

Tiki tilts her head back and forth trying to get an idea of the sounds she hears. "Hmmm...It's faint, but I think there is something to these tremors. Something is making noise...Should we go in deeper?"

Trying to follow the possible sound accompanying the tremors, the party starts to head deeper into Mt. Moon. After some time (maybe 20 minutes), Fan's fur is ruffled by a slight breeze. Looking around, she spots what appears to be a large crack in the wall of the cave, which seems to lead into some kind of tunnel. Fan runs over to Clay to get his attention and point out the crack.

Tiki notices everyone's favorite fire monkey causing some commotion. She looks over to what she's pointing at, and spots the giant crack in the wall. "Oh wow! Would ya look at that. Good goin', Fan!" Tiki makes her way over to it, and peers inside.
