Clay takes an involuntary step back or two when he realizes that Divini is levitating. He really should have already, but her feet were a lot closer to the floor before. He seems to have gone from cheery to wary in about half a second, but he gets himself back under control quickly. "Divini, Viiral, and Sano, and Mitis isn't here right now. Nice to meet all of you!"
Fan's attention still appears to be on Divini's pastry. Clay pokes her lightly and... actually starts speaking in chittering monkey noises to her. Knock it off, you're going to make her think you're weird. If you're hungry I'll get you one. In fact, I'll get us both one, those look good. "Excuse me for a moment. Those look good, I think I'll get some too."
He's liable to be a minute. Master Nob made sure he more or less understands the concept of money, but that doesn't mean he always remembers which coins are which.

Sano blinked hard. Apparently, in the city, people levitate and speak monkey. There would be a lot of getting used to. "Uh, are you all heading to the Adventurer's Guild after this?" He asks after Clay returns. "I assume that's an attractive destination for trainers like us."

Several other patrons are startled by the suddenly levitating girl and quickly clear out. The shop owner insists that Divini stop scaring the other customers.

"Oh, yeah, Tiki and I are both going there!" Clay hands one of the pastries he bought up to Fan on his shoulder, who munches contentedly and at least momentarily seems to have stopped eyeing everyone else's.
"I can't wait! I want to explore everywhere, really! And help people, of course." As Master Nob keeps insisting. "Either way, I couldn't stay in the dojo forever."

Tiki stares at Divini with big, sparkling eyes, and her jaw hitting the floor. "Oh wow...." She quickly snaps out of it, turns around, and with a pained expression, chews on her thumb nail. In an internal monologue, "Oh wow! She has illusions! I've always had trouble with those! How can I can compete!? She might be a better entertainer than..." She then slapped her cheeks, knocking her out of her pain attack. Don't think like that! You are amazing at what you do! You'll be the best! She turns around with her cheeks puffed out, and fierce eyes. And out of nowhere, she says, "I won't lose!.......Huh? Oh yeah. We're going to the guild. Free Pokemon!"

Divini drops her feet to the ground, and apologizes to the clerk. It looks like she'll need to be a little more careful about absentmindedly levitating... too much attention is just a pain. "The guild? Oh yeah... their doing a thing today, aren't they..." She took a moment to mull it over. She originally she had plans to take a look and not actually join (as all that traveling seemed too much of a hassle), but if these people could get in, how hard could it actually be? "Yeah, I was heading there myself," she said with a quick change of plans, "I guess we're... road mates for now."

With introductions and the like out of the way, the newly formed group of 'friends' decide to make their way over to the Adventurer's Guild to receive their free Pokemon and possibly even sign up so they can explore the world!

Upon entering the large guild hall, most of Tiki's excitement is drained as she sees the massive line of people in front of the registry. "AWWWWwwww...! I told you guys we should've run!" Now moping, and shoulders slumped, she decided to burn time by walking around outside. Star soon taps at Tiki's head, and points off to a large fenced off area behind the guild. "Hmm? What is...Oh!? Could that be where the guild is holding all their pokemon!?" An idea soon pops into Tiki's head. She and Star look around their surroundings, and when no one is looking, hops the fence. Walking around the enclosure, Tiki sees many civilians and guild members talking, and looking at pokemon. "Hmm...Seems people are being lead around and shown pokemon. We could be here all day doing that. Star, our new partner is out there, and how are we gonna find them if we are just looking around with other people. What happens if they get chosen before we even meet!? So, it's up to me to make sure we are noticed." Walking into a bit of a clearing, Star hops off her shoulder, and takes a seat at Tiki's feet. Tiki then readies herself, closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and begins to sing a song. The song carries across the field. Pokemon and human's attention turn towards the song's source. It is a loving, and joyous ballad. Soon, Tiki ended her song, and with a smile, opened her eyes. She was only greeted with stares from human, and pokemon alike. Most are of confusion, or annoyance. The stares soon leave Tiki's direction, and she puts her hands on her hips. "Geez...tough crowd..." A small rustling of grass at her feet grab her attention. "I know Star. Probably not my smart-..." Tiki's bright, violet eyes were met with shiny, crimson eyes of a small green creature. The two stared stared at each other for a good minute before Tiki spoke up with, "Huh..." Dropping to her knees, and coming down to the chikorita's level, they both maintained eye contact. "H-hello there..." The chikorita let out a chirp of a response. A smile began to grow across her face. She placed her hands on her cheeks trying to hold back excitement. "Did you hear my song?" It nods its head. "D-Did you like it?" It nods again, it suddenly starts cute little march, and cries out the same rhythm of the song Tiki sang. Tiki's eyes widen, and she suddenly begins to hug the small creature. With tears in her eyes she hugs, and pets the chikorita. "Star, this must be fate! We are gonna be a happy family!" Star joins in on the hug. A middle aged woman wearing an Adventurer's Guild badge soon walks up to the three. Oh. I see you've made a beautiful friend. Tiki wipes her eyes. "I sure did!" The woman smiles, crosses her arms, and leans towards them, "Did you remember to fill out the proper paperwork to join the guild so you could be allowed back here?" Tiki blinks, and says, "...Huh?" Luckily, getting away with only a lecture, Tiki soon finds herself back in the guild building, and in the massive line waiting to register. She has Star on her shoulder, a chikorita in her arms, and a huge smile on her face. Tiki digs around her bag for a pack of cards. "Oh yeah. You need a name don't ya? Mom gave me these cards. She used them to tell people's fortunes. Arcana...or whatever they were. I don't understand all that wierd stuff, but it is how Star got her name sooo..." Tiki shuffles the deck with one hand, and then flicks the top card up into the air. She catches the spinning card, and looks at it. "Hmm...Number eight, Justice." She smiles, and hugs the chikorita tighter. "You look like a Justice to me!" Justice smiles, and cries out in happiness.

Clay's been forewarned about the line, but that doesn't mean he takes it very gracefully. He spends pretty much the entire time it takes him to get to the front bouncing on his heels impatiently, until Fan can't take it and gives up on riding his shoulder, choosing instead to dart between people's feet and investigate the Guild building. Clay frowns when he sees Tiki hop the fence. He should have thought of that... but he'd probably just get in trouble and then he'd have lost his place in the line, too. Why do people always insist on these stupid lines? "mumblegrumble Wait your turn, he says... Don't jump lines. Humans and their stupid rules..."
When he finally reaches the head of the line he's in too lousy a mood to cheer up with being so close to his destination - Tiki's performance was pretty much the only thing that livened the trip up. He only half pays attention as the paperwork is explained to him, answers questions rather snappishly, and scrawls an untidy X on the line for a signature. Once he's finally free to go look for a companion he bounds away, finally lightening up a little. "Come on, Fan, let's go!"
There are so many different Pokémon in the enclosure that it's hard to choose. Clay's so busy looking around that he barely sees a Hoppip that more or less sails through the air... right into his head. In the process of stumbling away from the overly-affectionate Grass-type he manages to blunder right into a small pond put in for the benefit of the Water Pokémon on offer. Thankfully the bottom of the pond is sandy and quite soft, though Clay's not wild about winding up sitting in the water in any case. To his surprise, he notices the sand near him heaving up as a small Mudkip unburies itself, trying to see what's disturbed its nap.
Rather uncharitably, he gives the curious amphibian a light bop on the nose when it paddles over to investigate him... and is rewarded with a spray of water and kicked-up sand to the face. A small splash-fight ensues, which does a lot to lift Clay's spirits even if he's clearly losing. Finally, he throws his hands up and makes a few bubbling noises in his throat. Okay, okay, you win! Sorry about that. You're a little fighter, huh? The Mudkip bobs its head slightly, though its expression is rather bashful. Hey, no, be proud of it! You've got a lot of potential there. I think you might be just what I'm looking for. How'd you like to come with me?
A few moments later, Fan wanders back from chasing that Hoppip away to find Clay, dripping wet, with a Mudkip in his arms. "Hey, Fan, I found our new partner!" Fan hops over warily, scrutinizing the Mudkip, who still looks a little embarrassed about the whole ordeal. I guess I need something to call you around humans, too, Clay bubbles again. I mean, the real thing's kind of a mouthful, and I know my accent's lousy. He switches back to human language. "How about Sandy?" The newly-christened Sandy tilts his head, but indicates that he finds the name acceptable. Fan, for her part, rolls her eyes before adding her own resigned acceptance. If he has to adopt a Water-type, she'll put up with Sandy.
Clay steadfastly ignores the funny looks he gets at the way he talks to his partners... or just the fact that he's soaked and muddy from his little 'adventure'... as he goes to establish Sandy as his new partner. That grin is back on his face now - it looks like a little rough-and-tumble was just what he needed.

Sano takes a moment before arriving at the Guild Hall to release Mitis from her ball. The small cat stretches as she's released from her sleep, greeting Sano with a grumpy meowl. She acknowledges each of her trainer's road mates as they are introduced, noting the Venipede's demeanor. The Guild Hall is larger than any building Sano has encountered, provoking a moment of awe. "Great Stag, that's a building..." He mumbles to himself. The line of trainers in wait for a Pokemon is surprising, but Sano isn't as bothered by it as Tiki and Clay. Still, it looks like a long wait, so he allows Mitis to go play with the other Pokémon. After a good half-hour, he finally arrives at the head of the line and starts filling out the application. Suddenly, a stern-looking woman carrying a dazed Skitty enters the room. "Who owns this creature??" She asks, scouring the room. Sano sheepishly comes forward and takes Mitis from the woman's arms. Mitis smells oddly wonderful, like a bed of roses. "I'm sorry, I hoped she would be good. Did she cause any trouble?" "I'll say she did," huffs the woman, scolding the feline. "She was chasing around the Surskit in the pond. Luckily, our resident Oddish put a stop to her before she caused any real damage." Sano apologizes to the woman before she storms off, mumbling something about 'not her job' and 'third time today'. After finishing the paperwork, Sano heads into the enclosure, the recovering Mitis resting on his head. Immediately after walking in, a bold plant struts up to Sano, blocking his way. "Odd! Odd!" The shrub glares above Sano's head at the Skitty. "Ah, you must be the individual who protected your fellow Pokemon from Mitis." Sano purrs, kneeling down. "That wasn't only brave, but also selfless. I'm looking to make a team, and you'd fit right with us. What do you say?" The Oddish looks at Sano's smile, but is hesitant. Mitis slinks down his arm, causing the Oddish to back up, arming his leaves. Mitis recoils for a second, but extends her paw in truce. The leafy creature hesitates, but approbates the gesture by meeting the paw with a leaf. "Great! You're very strong but also kind, so Aloe is the perfect name for you. Welcome to the team!" Sano looks back and nods at the caretaker, who smiles and goes to grab Aloe's corresponding Pokeball.

She took her eyes off them for a moment, and now she was alone again. Their temporary "roadmate" status dissolved the moment they entered the building and everyone scattered. Divini manage to glance Tiki jumping a one of the fences; they at least seemed to share a distaste for lines. The paperwork was needed however. Divini skirted around the edge of the lines, passing Sano and the monkey boy as she pretended to be reading the signs near the back of the hall. When she was close enough to the papers, she set Viiral down on the floor.
"Distract them a little, ok?" she asked. Viiral lazily looked up at her, took to steps to the side, and hissed loudly. As people turned to look at the hissing venipede (some of the closer people actually jumping a little in surprise), she psychically grasped at a few papers. They floated away as if caught in a light breeze, and in all this confusion, she slipped one of the papers under the crowd and into her hand. A quick questionnaire later, she handed in her completed form and whistled to Viiral, whom scurried back and climbed up her leg to rest on her arm. She slid away before she could attract anymore attention.
The Pokemon acquisition center was more like a playground then a serious establishment; families and future trainers fooling around with Pokemon of all sorts in order to find their perfect match. It dawned on her that, after being caught up in the fervor of her three acquaintances, she had not really thought this far ahead. Slowly she wandered through the room, passively observing the goings on when there was a sudden nearby splash which caused her to raise her feet to narrowly dodge a small wave of water coming from one of the containment pools. Found the monkey man, she thought dully as Clay wrestled in the pool, causing some of the pokemon to flee. There was a flash of orange passing her face and a sudden wet weight in her hair, causing her to fall her to fall back as she had not lowered her feet down just yet. Nearly upside-down, she reached back into her mass of hair and pulled out a staryu, no doubt fleeing from Clay's antics. Spinning herself back into a proper standing position, she threw the staryu back into the pool as if she were throwing a dinner plate. It never even touched the water as it turned around mid flight like a boomerang and lodged itself back into her mane. After untangling it, she pulled the flying starfish out once more with moderate irritation. This time, she got a better look at it. It was a little larger than an average staryu, its center gem flickering slowly. It was slightly shivering.
After she looked it over, she turned to the venipede on her upper arm. "What do you think?" she ask, presenting the affectionate and probably terrified staryu. Viiral sniffed at it with a bored expression. Evidently he didn't think of it as much of a threat, as turned back and prepared to doze off on her arm. "You're a load of help," she sighed. She wiped off the gem and allowed it to shine in the acquisition center's light. "I guess your coming with me." It gave a quick bright flash and went dormant. She placed the placated staryu under her arm and went to go sign it out.

With everyone having applied to the guild and acquired a new partner, several groups of adventurers can be noticed gathering near the entrance; yours included. These must be the new applicants. Each group seems to consist of about 3-4 people, though none of their Pokemon are visible at this time. You all stand or sit around chatting about things, maybe comparing Pokemon partners or the like. After several hours, the crowd finally begins to disperse as non-applicants have acquired their Pokemon, done some socializing, and are now headed for home. The sun begins to sink towards the western horizon, indicating that you have been here all day waiting for... something. Thus far, the only official personnel you have seen were those dealing with the paperwork of applicants and helping people acquire their perfect Pokemon pal.
Almost as one, everyone gathered has their gaze drawn towards the entrance of the building. A young blonde woman wearing a different guild uniform is standing in the doorway. She smiles at everyone and motions you closer. Once everyone has gathered, she begins to speak.
"Welcome. My name is Genevieve, and I am the Head of the Normal-Type Branch of the Adventurer's Guild. I am also in charge of new recruits. I do apologize for the long wait, but we were a tad understaffed today due to a much larger turnout than originally expected. First of all, I want to officially welcome you all as Members of the Guild. Congratulations!" She beams brightly.
"Our first order of business is to get you all situated into your respective fields. You do know what field you are planning to join, right? Our recommendation is to begin with the Type that matches your personality. This is usually indicated by the type of the very first Pokemon you were drawn to. Your 'starter', as it were. In the case of dual-type Pokemon, such as Chimchar or Bulbasaur, it is up to you as the Member to decide which you will focus on. Currently, there are fourteen different branches, though the largest by far are Fire, Water, Grass, and Normal. There is no restriction on which you may join, nor any penalties for changing fields later on if the first does not suit you for any reason.
However, we do not appreciate 'dabblers'. Once you have selected your Type Branch, it is expected to be the one you focus most on. If you truly cannot decide on a branch, then perhaps a more generic role is more suited for you. I'll talk more about those if needed, but for now I want you all to think long and hard about which Type Branch you will specialize in."

Focus Branches? This is looking to be more work than she originally intended. Divini was moderately regretting her quick skim the what seemed to be non-essential information on her papers. She glanced over to her compatriots, whom she had gravitated towards by chance. Had they known? And would she be seeing them a lot more than she had planned?

Tiki was scratching her head with both hands. "14 branches...What should I..." She quickly over to Divini, and grabs her hands. "Divini! What do I do!? These are so many choices! I gotta pick one!? What if it's wrong, or I don't like it!? Is...Is our group gonna split up...?" She looks into Divini's eyes as Tiki's own has tears build up.

Clay bites his lip. He isn't sure at all about the whole branch thing. Sure, he knows which way he's probably going to lean if he has to make a decision - he'll probably go for the Fighting-type branch, just like Master Nob, who always said he had a good attitude for it. But he's not sure just how much scrutiny he's going to get if he goes for Pokémon that don't match it, and he doesn't want to get locked in to one path and not get to experience everything.
He looks around at the others. They don't seem to be any more certain, so at least he's not alone. And it's not like the only one who picked a second partner that doesn't exactly fit the branch he's likely to choose.
He hops over to nudge Tiki's shoulder gently. Clay still kind of has trouble with personal space. "Hey, cheer up. It's not a big deal. Probably. Not like they're gonna take her away."

Oh, so we ARE a team now, Divini thought, one of her fears that she might actually be stuck with these guys might be coming to fruition. At least they're not too terrible...
She looked down at Tiki, whom after one or two tries, managed to find Divini's hands in her long sleeves. The sudden jostling of Divini's arms elicited a grumpy hiss from Viiral before crawling over her shoulder and joining his new team member on Divini's back (She decided to call her new member Tessalon, as it was the first word that came to her head). "It's nothing to cry about," Divini sighed, freeing a hand and poking Tiki in the forehead, "It's likely just to keep their goals straight. Most large guilds have several divisions to split the work loads. Besides, if you were listening, you'd have heard you can change if you have an issue."
"First and foremost, we'll need to see what these branches are offering."

Sano joins the group, holding his new friend. "It shouldn't be too much of an issue, although it does look like we're a pretty diverse group. If we want to stick together, perhaps it'd be wise to find one we can all agree on." He frowns for a second, reconsidering his statement. "Unless you aren't expected to travel with your branch. Then, we could join different ones and not have to split up."

Tiki nods, and takes a seat on a nearby bench. Star, and Justice sit on each leg of her lap. She then pets both of their head. "Sticking together would be fun. A branch huh?...Hmm. Any ideas from you guys? Star is normal type, and Justice is grass. Do we wanna cover most bases, or choose whatever we like?" Tiki furrowed her brow while Star and Justice stared up at her.

While your group discusses how to sort out which branch you will go into (assuming you all don't just follow separate branches), a couple of the other groups seem to have finished making their own decisions. They receive instructions on where to go as they head inside. Those paying attention would notice that the first 3 groups selected the most 'popular' Branches of Fire, Water, and Grass. There are still 3 more groups (counting yours) left to decide.
Genevieve casually strolls around, keeping an eye on everyone and just waiting patiently for people to decide what branch they wish to follow.

"Well, I mean, if it was just me I'd go for Fighting." But that's... really no surprise. Considering he's accompanied by what will eventually be a Fire/Fighting type and a Water/Ground type, he's not exactly short of choices even on his own. "But honestly we could go just about anywhere. I shoulda asked Master Nob more about this... Have we all got different Pokémon, then? Maybe we'll just all go for different ones and still work together if we want to? It's not like they said 'you can never ever have any Pokémon that don't fit your branch or work with anyone from any other branch ever again'."
He runs through that last long sentence in a single breath, as if he's afraid the idea will fall out of his head if he has to pause before he finishes. Clay is about as humble as one would expect from somebody raised by proud fighting Pokémon (i.e. not at all) but sometimes he has a low opinion of his own intelligence.
