Clay's face goes slightly pale when Holly elaborates on their encounter with Giratina. It's not that it has any particular reputation with Clay - Clay didn't even really know what religion was until he came to live with humans; his knowledge of legendary Pokémon pretty much consists of what they've run across in the course of this whole mess. But this one sure sounds like trouble, and the fact that it's apparently hanging around is bad news. "Oh... kay. That's worrying. Wonder whether it's involved or if it's just here to watch. I'm surprised this mess hasn't gotten more attention from the gods, since one of 'em is in it, and two more are trying to stop it already. Plus whatever the 'Time Traveler' is." He rolls his eyes. "From what I've seen of them and their servants so far, it probably thinks this whole thing is first-class entertainment."
Rei's glare at Holly just gets an eye roll from Clay. "Oh, come on. Did you think we didn't need to know this Gira-tiny thing was hanging around?" He shakes his head. "Lights in the woods don't sound that bad, honestly. Following lights in the woods was how I met Flower. But okay. Jerk god is around here somewhere, lights in the wood might be bad news. Thanks for the heads-up, Holly."
He stretches his arms out. "Anyway. I need to go see Kalani, like I've been meaning to for, uh, like a week now. Figure out if she's okay with me staying overnight, if not I'm just gonna have to camp out. But I'm here, I've got all my Pokémon here, and we've got a tree to see around here sometime. Gotta figure out when to do that... Instructor Mason's expecting me to link up with the rest of Fighting Branch when they get here tomorrow - they're setting out at the crack of dawn so they'll probably be here before lunch, even as slow as a big group travels. I dunno how much he's gonna expect the branch to stay together after that. We might need to do this thing tonight."

Rei had hoped that Clay would have a bit more tact about the whole thing and at least ask her privately if she's ok and maybe she could tell him. And Tiki probably doesn't even care about Rei at this point... But Holly just threw all that out by blurting it to them before Rei even had a 'chance' to. Inside her mind she 'knew' Holly was doing it for her own good but now she just feels terrible again.
She doesn't turn around, and doesn't respond to the majority of Clay's words.
"We probably should just get it done tonight..."

"The sooner the better I guess." Tiki finally recalls Toppo so he can rest a bit, and turns to Clay. "You can go ahead, and see Kalani. We should head out a bit after that. Get started while we still have some light to use."

"Sounds good!" Clay wants to go back and visit the troop sometime, but that isn't quite so urgent. Also, come to think of it, "go meet this bunch of wild Fighting-types and possibly spar against, capture, or learn from them" might make a good suggestion as a training exercise, if it's not too far out of the area where Instructor Mason plans to train.
They're also going to have to figure out just where the gate-tree is, but one problem at a time.
"I'll probably be back in a little while. Depends on if Kalani insists on feeding me." He winks at them and sets off for the Mayor's residence with Fan loping along at his side.

Not wanting to be left alone with Holly and Tiki, cause that would just blow up real quick, so she just walks back to the room.

Tiki returns the glare, "hmph's", and takes off towards Cerulean Beach. The beach was a nice place to visit again, and where she could be far away from the drama once again.

Rei just returns to her room, now alone as it seems Holly didn't follow her, and just sulks again. She'll never get out of her own head at this rate. Every idea she had seems to have hit a dead end. Every big idea she's had has more or less ended before it began. Getting a lot of money and searching D'mara's home seems to be all she has left.
She hates this, and it's taking EVERYTHING in her power not to just run out of there to save everyone the trouble. Or... to run and make a deal for the power to save everyone.
She clenches her fists so hard they draw a little blood but she manages to stay in the room until Holly comes back.

Tiki returns from the beach. It was fun to relax, but the pokemon battles she had were really really bad. She takes some time to rest, and wait until they all meet up to go into the nearby woods.

Clay turns up a few minutes later. He might still look slightly nibbled around the edges. "Okay, we all here and ready to get looking for this tree?"

Holly turns up shortly after Rei does, blade in hand. She looks expectantly at Clay. This was his lead, so he's in charge, so to speak.

"Okay..." Clay starts to lead the group west, towards Mt. Moon. "Master Ming-Na said that we're looking for an ancient tree near Mt. Moon, guarded by a woman. So I figure we're looking for one that's really big and not too far from the mountain."
He drums his fingers on his staff, his nails making it ring with a dull, metallic sound. "I was thinking maybe we could find a wild Pokémon and see if it knew where the oldest tree in the forest was. Our other best bet is probably to get a bird's-eye view and see if we can spot it - I can send Peng up, did you guys bring your birds?" To the best of Clay's knowledge none of Holly's Pokémon can outright fly, but he knows Rei and Tiki both have bird Pokémon.

Kopi actually shivers a little at the mention of such a place. "I don't go near it. Weird, pink-ish energy hangs all around it and makes us Dark-Type Pokemon feel funny. Couldn't even tell you exactly where it is, but if you *really* want to, I can tell you how far to go to find the 'pink energy area'. If you're going to that tree, I'll just hang around nearby. Maybe find some new shinies."

Clay's eyebrows rise a bit in surprise at Kopi being helpful without too much prompting. Apparently he takes this place pretty seriously. "If you can point us there, that'd be great!" Presumably this "pink energy" place is a lot smaller than trying to search the whole forest, so finding the tree would be significantly easier. And if it's defended against Dark-types like that, that sounds like an excellent place to go looking.
"He says there's this place in the forest full of weird pink energy that Dark-types avoid. Sounds like that move the Delcatty used on Mufomono that one time. The Usurper seems to like Dark-types, so that sounds like a good place to start looking. Kopi says he can tell us where the edge of the area is, even if he doesn't know quite where the tree is inside." Remembering how Kopi usually operates, Clay digs out a coin and holds it up for the Murkrow. "If he can get us there, we don't need to search the whole forest. Though having Tootsie around to look out for trouble would probably not be a bad plan."
