"Twenty Years ago, the legendary King of Pirates, Gold Oak Sam, was finally captured by the World government and brought forth to be executed. But as he was being executed, someone called out 'What did you do with your treasure?' and he replied, 'It's still out there! Find it! I left everything life has to offer there!' and so the Great Pirate era began as men of all paths of live flocked to the seas in search of his legendary treasure. In that time, a great number of Pokemon Masters have turned Pirates and wrecked havoc across the seas of the world. In that time, no one has found the legendary treasure of the 151 Piece. And in that time, you have dreamed of nothing more than adventure and potentially finding it."
You the potential party are a group of youths (or relatively youthful people) who are all from the small Island in the Great Southeastern Sea, popularly known as the 'East Blue'. And for much of your lives, you have wished to go on adventures and see the world outside of Pallet Island. This game will feature a crew of would be pirates (the player characters/Party) in their quests to fulfill their dreams and bethe very best their ever was, dun dun dun. It will be very much taking in tone from both One Piece and Shonen manga/anime in tone (and this includes players being on arcs of development individually and otherwise, as well as humor being a prevalent goal in my GMing and in your roleplaying in addition to the action-adventure of it all), and it will occur on a fantasy High Seas mashup of the One Piece World, Pokemon, and our own setting.
Players: 3-6 Players.
Characters: You will begin play as level 4 adventurers and immediately preceding the arc some of your would be crew will have discovered Devil Fruits which grant players the abilities of an Usurper (including the class for free) along with a set of weaknesses such as being unable to move in a body of water covering more than certain parts of their body, being unable to swim, and being capable of being locked by Seastone. All PCs will have one level 5 Pokemon with the underdog trait, of any type. Two egg moves, not using playtest rules on them, one at level 20, one starting. They will begin with their choice of either 1 Regular class weapon and 5000 P (Pokny in the game world) or 7000P to buy other equipment. The 1 Regular class weapon may be traded in for equipment, by request. Those who begin with devil fruit powers will begin with a free copy of Usurper (X Pokemon) and will be referred to as a (That Pokemon) Human. Usurper Form's level is 4, and is allowed 2 egg moves (which are gained at start).
Restrictions: Do Porgyon Dream of Mareeps and Blessed & The Damn materials restricted as a case by case basis, meaning I'm not forbidding them but I want any usage to 'fit' the setting. So Cyborgs ala One Piece? Fine, but this isn't a space opera.
Setting Specific: Pokeballs are semi-mystical items which can be made by anyone but are definitely closer to apricorns hollowed out than otherwise, and which capture Pokemon in nets of real mystical iron and not laser beams. All 18 elemental classes are allowed but would be followers of one of those classes should have it in their history that they are either a member of the (that type) men tribe, or they were trained in the martial art of that humans. For instance, Water Elementalists learned 'Fish man Karate' or 'Water Man Karate' from the Watermen/Fishmen, or are themselves such things. Bug Elementalists learned 'Bugman Capoera', or the like.
Other: Those who wish to use Gajinka Fruit/Devil Fruit eater characters may do so, as I said at the beginning of the game you're going to eat them. HOWEVER, you may only pick underdog Pokemon with two evolutions, which are not dragon, ice, ghost, steel, or psychic type if you do so. Your other option is to request for me to roll for you, which I will do thrice, and tell you your three results. You as a player then pick from those results (And can offer them to other PCs if you don't feel it fits your character, such as if you get luck and roll a legendary but want to be the ship's doctor, cook, or gadgeteer, and want to offer it to someone who is aiming to be the Captain of the crew.)
Finally: I ask that in your application, as in when you post it here, you specify what position on the crew you would prefer to have.
I will not be putting up a set closing date, but this will probably close in approximately 1 week from now. Remember, go for humor in addition to interesting story telling. And I as a GM favor story over crunch, so don't neglect your fluff!
