This is the obligatory OOC topic where I set the backstory and lay the ground rules.
Pokemon: The Calada Caper is so-named because my original plan was to have it take place in an original region based on the US states of California and Nevada, and there's something mysterious going on that needs to be solved. Doing all that would be daunting, though, so right now the setting is simply Hollywood and a few surroundings. If people like what they see here, they might go on.
Backstory: The story picks up right after the episode, Go West: Young Meowth. As it turns out, the action film star Brad Van Darn is the gym leader here, so he can be challenged for a badge. Other things might be going on as well. Could an evil team with matching outfits be afoot? Wait and see!
Rules, Basic:
1) When out of character for most reasons, post your thoughts here in this thread. Exceptions are bracketed text that still relate to characters; noted below.
2) For people new to this, there are some things to keep in mind. This is not a free-form RP run by text; you can control only one character and his or her Pokemon, so don't go making "possession posts". Dice (rolled by the GM) and rules run things. The following post is a technical foul:
There is nothing but text there, the player is writing for two opposing characters, and their actions are assumed to be a given. Here is how that scene should have played out.
Note that for simplicity's sake, things were noted with text there that would instead be shown in the game with the map images, and rather than sign as "Player", they'd sign as whom they're playing, or in fact, they could leave that part blank if it's obvious whom they're writing for. If you've seen screenplays, they illustrate how the format should go: The character names are in bold followed by a colon, and text after is considered to be dialogue unless it's enclosed in brackets. So as an example of what they might post.
The GM would move Brock's marker on the board, and then control Heather.
3) More a guideline than a rule, but don't be the weakest link if you can help it! Remember that for this to progress, everyone needs to be posting often enough, so continually look at this site and post if it's your turn! You needn't commit to a set day, but you should try to commit to multiple visits on multiple days.
Rules, Advanced:
Many standard PTA rules apply here, however, this is also a test of a planned revision of the game, so some things are different here.
1) The skills system by Twilightwings is used now, and factors into more things. See the character sheets if you're not sure.
2) Ace Trainer, Underdog, Athlete, Chef, and a number of other classes not yet taken by player characters are different than the core game; refer to documents noting their revisions.
3) Strength is the only human stat whose mod is used to calculate damage for base arms attacks, though Martial Artist feats using Dexterity are still valid.
4) All attacks have been revised to have damage that is less random than in the core game. Additionally, only damage bases 1 and 2 are available to humans; 2 is unlocked by taking Weapon of Choice.
5) Dash attacks grant 1 extra point of damage per space-traveled through in the direction from which it hit; ie 3 West. This is obviously limited by a player's speed stat.
6) Death doesn't happen in this campaign; as it uses pregens made specifically to test specific classes, they're not dispensable, and it doesn't work for the anime's tone, either.
Characters "blast off" instead, which does carry penalties but isn't a game over.
That's about it! Once again, post your OOC questions here; otherwise, head on over to the Hollywood thread and start posting as your characters!

Player: The Zubat approached Harry alarmingly fast. But Harry was ready and stuck it with his baseball bat, knocking it flying.

GM: [Zubat moves close to Harry, and attempts bite. Rolls dice for Bite. Shows results.]
