The continent Ignotus - thoroughly isolated by the storms that surrounded it for centuries, it was a permanent fixture in both myth and fiction. When they ceased five years ago people were quick to investigate. What they found was a tropical continent filled with pokemon that adapted to whole new habitats, ancient ruins and a tribe of silent people. The continent is an international unknown
Which is where you come in. You are one of Exploration Guild Tourmaline's new novices, all set to start uncovering the continent's mysteries and make your way in the world's most most exclusive profession.
I'm looking for 3 players to explore Ignotus You guys will start at trainer level 3, with a level 10 starter and 5000P. Starter must be a 3 stage underdog that isn't a pseudo. It gets 2 inheritance moves - one that it knows at thestart of the game and one that it gets at either level 20 or 30. These moves must obey the Spetember Playtest rules. Your trainer needs to be between 16 and 21 - you're young but not inexperienced. You also will get some survival gear provided, haven't decided what yet. All base classes are available, along with the non-supernatural classes from Game of Throh's and Jailbreaker from Porygon Dream. Banned Material: - Supernatural Classes
- The Upgrader & Engineer branches of Researcher
- All the Blessed and the Damned material
The supernatural classes will become eventually become available, and the Blessed and the Damned may. Weapons are pretty normal for explorers, not so much in normal society. Non type-shifted pokemon will be extremely rare in the wild - make a note of type syncs you like the idea of and any pokemon you really want to be normal on your character sheet. We're using all the playtest material and be warned - your characters will have to survive in the wilderness with little support.
Recruitment will end on Friday the 19th of August (Australian Date). And make sure to join the Skype chat here.
The next part is spoilers for Sun and Moon, so feel free to skip it. I'll keep them out of the chat as much as possible, but no promises if a hammerhead shark gets revealed. Obviously the type-shifted pokemon are regional variations I'm inventing - though I'll make use of the ones revealed for Alola
SETTING INFORMATION LOCAL MAP HEREThe game will open with the three of you arriving at Argenport, the largest settlement on Ignotus and the base for both the Tourmaline and Sardonyx Exploration Guilds. A day's journey south is the town of Calico, where the primary industries are mining and woodcutting and the Lapis Exploration Guild is based. To the west is the town of Taytamba, where the silent Tavel Tribe lives. So far the 3 exploration guilds have mapped and named the surrounding areas, with numerous expeditions already at the Bethiml Ruins. Your initial task will involve travelling there and seeing if there's anything left to be discovered. Living fossils are found in one zone. Fossils of other pokemon will be found in numerous areas. Argenport was the first settlement since it's the port. Calico is where stone, metal and wood comes from, so the two towns are fairly similar. Argenport is just bigger. The only recently constructed roads go from Calico to Argenport, though an ancient one goes from Taytamba to near Argenport. It is known that there are several tribes of natives on the continent. The only tribe any guild has contacted thus far is the Tavel Tribe, who's patron is Uxie, Uxie is revered as the last echo of the world that was, with the professor finding that the local Uxie is likely a Fairy/Electric type. The Tavel Tribe is eternally silent, due to a collective oath taken out of grief for some unknown sin. The only tribe member known to forsake this oath is the young girl Sachi who befriended Professor Maple immediately and was effectively exiled from her tribe. At least 2 other tribes exist, followers of the fiery Mespirit and the icy Azelf.

This intrigues me. Is there a particular reason for the young age? Wouldn't most people frown upon sending young adults into the wilds mostly unsupervised? Sounds like a typical Pokemon world to me Could we get a time for the closing as well? Most people would be hard pressed to know which timezone that might be.

I'm not putting a time on it yet. I'll probably let it ride until the next day anyway.
And this is a setting where kids leave home to explore the region at 10-12. Saving the dangerous stuff until 16 isn't that weird in comparison.

Posting possible interest. Your idea is quite intriguing as I would love to see more type shifted Pokemon around different regions. For starter tossing up atm between Mudkip and Fennekin for starter. Are we also looking at type shifted starters in the game? Also do you have a map of the region to show? I'd be interested in seeing the map your idea comes from. This all being said, assuming my interest pans through to tomorrow morning when I awake then I would be looking at a researcher, with Jailbreaker and Pokemon Caretaker, and Capture Specialist classes.

The map is linked in the Exploring Ignotus hyperlink. Or here.

I think I might go with a Backpacker/Researcher (Paleontologist, Artificer) with an interest in fossil Pokemon who aren't Rock type. I don't just mean like a mono-Steel Shieldon, but also things like a Bug/Water Kabuto or Anorith, or even crazier like Ice/Fairy Amaura or a completely random typed Cranidos. I'm currently thinking Archen or Tyrunt for my starter as I like their existing typings.
Questions: Can our starter have anything on its Inheritance list? Will you allow Paleontologist Features to apply to living Fossil Pokemon and not just revived ones? And will you have a Skype chat for this game?

Hmmm... interesting idea.
Questions about the type-shifting:
Firstly, for single-typed pokemon, would the new type be in addition to or replacing the original type? So, if the original was an electric-type and was type-shifted to Psychic, would it be an Electric/Psychic-type or a pure psychic type?
Secondly, are the type-shifted pokemon going to have their movelists altered to bring them in line with the new type?
And finally, and I know this is a lot to ask, but would it be possible to have a type-shifted starter? I wouldn't normally ask, but for the idea I have in mind, it'd be kind of necessary.

Will you allow Paleontologist Features to apply to living Fossil Pokemon and not just revived ones? And will you have a Skype chat for this game? You'll love the Primordial Jungle. Starters get 2 egg moves - one it starts knowing one it learns at 20 or 30. Playtest rules apply to this. Skype link here: join.skype.com/xJiebBwe1tHLHmmm... interesting idea. The type that a pokemon gets depends on the environment it has adapted to live in. They will often not retain any of their original types. Of course their move list will change with them. Discuss the starter with me on skype.

Cool, I'll have time to join the chat tomorrow morning.
Hmm... if prehistoric Pokemon will primarily be found in a single zone, I'll probably expand my concept a bit from just paloentology. Maybe focus on ancient history in general, to include the Pokemon that got new forms in 4th gen to evolve with Ancient Power and species that are thematically related to mysterious civilizations like Unown, Sigilyph, and Golett.
How long have these starter towns been around? Like, are they still mostly tents and stuff with few permament structures, or has it been long enough for roads to be laid and buildings constructed?

Very interested, just wanted to ask. If our starter doesn't have an egg move list can it be two tutor moves as long as they follow the rules?

I'll be playing as a Bug-type Ace who will start out merely as a bug catcher and than metamorphose into a generalist sort of character. Although in terms of stats they will be like that from the start. Expect me to join the Skype group... Now.

Have a Character. Still to do: pokémon nickname and inventory, most of the rest should be done - or only need tune-ups at worst. I might or might not see if I can come up with an alternative one before the time is up, but yeah - have one to start with.

Good news applicants! This game will now be taking 6 players in two teams of three, as Faithless will be helping as a co-gm! The extra 3 people will be a part of the Sardonyx Exploration Guild.
