Wuxia, Swords of Justice
Since ancient times, qi flowed upon the winds and waters across the surface of the earth creating life and matter of the universe. But before there was life and matter there was a void, and then, there was a creator. The all-god, a being of pure qi, brought about the end of the void and brought forth the world we know as Tianxia. The creator filled our world with qi and subsequently created the earth, the four other elements, and indeed life in the form of animals and Pokémons. The all-god then created several lesser gods and demigods to take control and protect the qi sources that nourish Tianxia. Many millennials pasted and the gods dutifully watched over and regulated the qi, but then, there was humans.
Born from the all-god's designs, humanity roamed Tianxia and flourished more than any other creature. At first all seemed well with the race, who more intelligent than that of the animals or even that of the Pokémons. Thus did the earthly gods slept content that the humans, filled with virtues like their creator, would watch over life on Tianxia. Humanity, however, while intelligent were foolish and young to Tianxia still. Humanity saw the life force of the world and sought to have it all. Thus it was humanity's greed that led for the qi force to become out of balance and for famine, plague, drought and war to break throughout Tianxia.
The screams and tears of all life, humans, animals, and Pokémons woke the gods from their slumber, who then called upon the all-god for leadership. The all-god heard his creation and blessed Tianxia a child after his own image who then united humanity into one nation, Huaxia, and then became the first Divine Emperor.
The violence and misuse of Tianxia's qi, however, left the qi unbalance even to this day. Still malevolent spirits continues to appear and feed on the negative qi of human and nature. In light of this threat, the 4th Divine Emperor ordered the creation of the five qi temples to train warriors to fight and purify these malevolent spirits as well as to act as the public defenders in the Emperor's name.
-------
Now is the start of a new millennium and the current Emperor is a hale and hearty man that rules fairly and justly with the help of his advisors.
It is the height of the fire season and one young disciple from each of the five temples have been summoned to the Imperial City Luoyang, by the heads of the Wuji and Taiji Temple. Unknown to the general public, the two temples was created as a means to balance and coordinate the other temples and study the concept of that is 'void' and 'all' itself.
Each of you were the best students of your temple in some way and for one reason or another were summoned by the heads of the 'head' temple. You are uncertain of the reasons why but have answered the call of duty against your better or lack of judgement.

PLOT:
So, the world is called Tianxia, the kingdom is called Huaxia, and the imperial city is called Luoyang. This world is base on an Ancient Asian theme not solely on China but ancient China is the main culture and setting I will be trying to emulate in the game. After all it's Wuxia.
The game will start out with the five of you answering the summons of the Wuji and Taiji Temple in the Imperial City of Luoyang. TThere you will be given the job as one of the Divine Emperor's magistrate. You will act as detectives. law enforcers, and purifiers of malevolent Pokémon. Essentially you are both policemen and rangers from the Pokémon world since part of your job involves keeping the qi in nature balanced.
You will solve tough cases and sometime makes decisions concerning the law when there are no other law man nearby . Eventually you would leave Luoyang on missions and journey to other places.
There is a little of an overall plot for the game but you should be able to explore places in between plot points.

What I like to See In Game
If you ever watch the animated series of the Avatar the Last Airbender, Naruto, or any other Asian action films that involve the use of the elements, then you have a good bases of how The Five Elements would work in Wuxia. But nonetheless let me explain about qi, the life force and substance of matter.
All powers, whether elemental or more 'human', originates from qi or the manipulation of qi. All living and non-living things have qi but not, necessarily, the same kind of qi. A human can use one's qi to draw elemental qi from their surrounding such as a large boulder, stream or tree. Humans naturally have three type of 'qi' known as the physical growth Jing (Fighting), spirit Qi (Psychic), and virtue Shen (Normal). The Pokémons are made out of the Five Elemental qi, Wood (Grass), Fire (Fire), Earth (Rock), Metal (Steel), Water (Water). Humans also have a small portion of the Five within them some more than others.
Wuxia, at least in the movies, are a lot about the martial arts. Martial artists movements are beautiful and dynamic. Try to be descriptive of your character fighting style.
For example I say a bandit strikes at you with a broad horizontal slash of his sword but miss. You; bend your torso back from waist up and feel the force of displaced air as the blade pass just inches above your chest. You step backward to allow some space between you and your attacker stepping into a small stream nearby. The tip of your sword dipped into the water and as you dash forward for a whirling counter attack, water flew into the air tracing the movement of your blade.
...Something along that line. But simply replacing 'move' with something like dash, pounce, or stalk will be fine too. But the more 'cool' you are the more I'll think your character deserve a new Pokemon, weapon, or some other character development.
Tone wise I like the character to have depth, dedication to duty, and a sense of humor. Tragic back stories are fine but there are just as many kids that were born in Court. It is a privilege to attend one of the temples. Not everyone is an orphan.

Additional Information About the Game
Please look at the Following Topics when you have time...
The Setting Questionaire
When I was gathering my thoughts on the setting for Wuxia I answered the questions from the Game of Throh book.
Wuxia and the Five Elemental Temples
Pictures and some little Information about the different elements but not about the temples themselves. Things like mental qualities, color, positive and negative emotion are more like suggestion for your character.
Wuxia (pg 26. GoT)
Neigong and Divine Bloodlines (pg 26. GoT)

PLAYERS: 5 players
Each one of you will belongs to a different Temple belonging to one of the Five Elements. The Five Elements or the Five are the different qi that makes up the natural world and all living creatures. The Five Elememts are Wood (Grass), Fire, Earth (Rock), Metal (Steel), and Water. You will belong to one of the Elemental Temples AND have the elemental power of your corresponding temple.
Everyone gets a free Elemental Connection Edge from the Type of their Temple.
You are not ordinary, either you are special in some way or have great potential.
Edit: The is a hard age range of 17-20 years old. 17 is a bit on the younger end of the spectrum.
You do not HAVE to take an Elementalist class at the start of the game especially if you are thinking of going on an ‘enlightenment journey’ and changing your elemental connection later in the game. You can still take an elemental class at start and change your connection and Elementalist feature later.

CHARACTERS:
- Write me, at minimum, a 3 sentence paragraph for your backstory and personality.
- Find a nice picture or write a detail paragraph or two on your character's appearance. Having a picture and some additional detail of their appearance would be great. If you want a picture but can't find one I'll be happy to help.
- Give me a personal goal, a hobby, and maybe even something your character dreams about but never dare to pursue it.
- Pick a Pokémon to base off your martial arts style. There are many different Pokémon's in one Element/Type. A martial art style base on a bulbasaur would have a different fighting style than a chikorita, for example.
- Give me a three sentence, or more, paragraph of your fighting style.
- Give me a list of people close to you and a short excerpt of their relationship to you. For example;
Mother - Raised you as a young child, blah, blah
Childhood Crush - blah, blah
Master Sifu - Blah, blah
Do all these little things and it shouldn't be too much writing but enough for me to understand your character and what they are about.
Trainer Level 5
Number of Starting Pokémon(s) 1
Levels of Starter Pokémon Lv. 10
Allowed Starting Pokemon
Any pure typed Underdog Pokémon that have the type of one of the Five Elements; Grass, Fire, Rock, Steel, Water. If there is no Steel Underdog then any steel type Pokémon is available. If you really want a dual type Pokémon then one that is paired with your element and with Normal, Fighting, or Psychic can work too. It doesn't matter if later on your Pokémon evolves into a duel type so long as you have them be of one pure type first.
Edit: Let me make it clearer since I get asked a lot about starters.
Starters are purely your [Temple’s Element] or [Psychic], [Normal], [Fighting] type.
Or are a combination of your [Temple’s Element] + [Psychic] or [Normal] or [Fighting].
Or are a combination of [Psychic], [Normal], or [Fighting].
Fossil Pokémons are allowed but the only Pokémon that follow the Elemental Rules is Cranidos, I think.
Pokémons get two eggs moves one for now and one later per playtest rules. If a starter have no egg moves you use tutor moves but still following playtest rules.
Also you do not start out with your starter Pokémon. If you already wrote an intensive background with your starter that’s fine. We will work it out once characters are chosen.
Type syncing is available after the start of the game.
***Go ahead and pick Pokémons with types outside the Five to add to your Wishlist . You will be able to catch more than 6 Pokémon and the surplus will be accessible to you at almost any of the temples across Wuxia. As a forewarning, types that do not belong to the Five, Normal, Psychic, Fighting, Dark or Fairy types will be harder to get and take longer to find.***

BANNED MATERIAL:
Everything from Do Porygon Dream of Mereep?
Wuxia doesn't have technology. Also I like Jailbreaker as much as the next person but the only characters that should have that Class or the Apricorn Ball feature/edge should be NPCs of the Wuji/Taiji Temple.
Bug, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fairy, Flying Ghost, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison Elementalist, Rune Master, and Arcanist, from the Game of Throth.
*****Arcanist is banned at least at the beginning but most likely you all will get arcane weapon of some kind*****
Type Ace from any other type but the Five are banned. You may take Type Ace outside the Five later... Maybe.
*****I don't suggest any of the crafting or research classes. You guys are warriors. Knowledge skill is good for you in the long run but I don't suggest wasting features on them. Wuxia is about action and quick thinking not crafting. If you want a bracer, some healing potions, or some such I'll get you a merchant or a healer.******
The Blessed and the Damned is not banned. If you want some god from there just let me know. Legendarily that shares these types, however, are banned. Bug, Electric, Ground, Ice, Poison
