Luke smiles down at Gawain gratefully, and follows the rest into the room the man had set up, taking whatever seat was still left unoccupied. As the man speaks, he calms down a bit, and eventually takes of his hood, thinking deeply. I'm not really sure what I think of this... a lot of people are going to be seeing my actions... maybe even everyone around the region... everyone... And I was chosen cause I stood up to the bad guys, cause I'm extraordinary... A small smile begins to grow on his face as he slowly nods. "Seems there's really no option but to comply, is there? Might as well make the best of it..."

Jack watches Bolt as he makes his peace offering with a smile. "That's very nice if you Bolt," he started before realization set in. "Wait...where did you get that? Have you been stashing food in my backpack?," he asked, surprised. Now there were going to be crumbs in his bag.
He followed the disconcerting suited executive and listened to what he said. At the mention of Jack's actions, he frowned. 'Spouting off'? Was I really spouting off? I wasn't spouting off...
He refocused on the rest of the conversation. Spouting off...jeez... ...Or, at least, he tried to, but he did gauge the replies of the others.
"Well, I didn't hear him say anything about following all of us together," Jack chimed in to Dave. "So if you want to go off by yourself, I don't think there's anything really stopping you. Except you might have Team Plasma come after you, since you did basically challenge them to come after you any time...," Jack said thoughtfully. "And they probably have much stronger pokemon, if they're anything like the stories about last time...so it might not be so bad, having a team of your own to back you up," he added. "But you can go off by yourself if you want, it sounds like," he finished.
"As for me, well...," Jack started awkwardly, "I dunno that I would be all that interesting to watch on TV, but it sounds like fun to me...and the money should help out a lot with travel expenses...," he said thoughtfully. Jack had been planning to basically cook his way across the region, but he might not have to now...at least, not as much. "I'm in. It sounds like fun, and a great opportunity. And I'd definitely be down for traveling together with you guys," he said, looking at Luke and Azrael. "And I think Bolt would enjoy it too," he said, grinning at the little Pichu. "Well, what do you think Bolt? Is this something you want to do?," he asked. It was Bolt's choice as much as it was his.

Azrael nodded, doing his best to constrain a shit-eating grin at Grumpy's response. "Mhmm, that's what I thought... but, I don't actually disagree." He turned to Jack with a shrug, and his best it-couldn't-be-helped expression by way of apology. As he returned his attention to his surroundings, he noticed Bolt running up and trying to split a cookie between him and Grumpy, and his heart melted at the Pichu's sweetness. "Aww, why thank you, Bolt," he said, taking the offered half and biting into it - noticing that Grumpy had not done the same, he shot him an exaggerated mock frown, accompanied by a slight head shake. Looking back to Bolt, his customary smile returned, and he crouched down for a second to whisper, "Well, if he doesn't want it, you should eat it."
Catching up with the rest of the group inside the sparsely furnished meeting room, he took his seat just as Mr. Mandibuzz started speaking. Almost immediately, he had to struggle to maintain a cheerful smile, as Mr. Mandibuzz brushed by their previous argument with his own commentary. I'm not the one without common sense, dammit! Unovan's are way too relaxed about supporting their Pokemon when it really counts, he thought, and immediately felt bad for saying that about all of his Unovan friends back home.
Azrael's eyebrows raised involuntarily in disbelief as Mr. Mandibuzz finished his proposal. "I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name," he pauses for a response, and then continues, "So, to be clear, you're saying that we will be followed and filmed, regardless of our response?" I think I may hate this man. "Alright, and when you say, 'regular paycheck', could you please clarify exactly what we're talking about here? I mean, you're clearly very excited about your own financial prospects from this venture, so I'm sure you understand that," he pauses for a second, "we just want to be sure that this is a fair and worthwhile deal for everyone." Hopefully that worked. I think I sounded kind of like the lawyers on TV.
He shot a quick glare at Grumpy for his comments, which rapidly morphed into a slightly obnoxious smile, "Aww, come now, we could be a team!" And I didn't sign-up for travelling with a bitter old sourpuss, Azrael thought. In response to Grumpy's last comments, he added, "Well, how bad could it be?" And then he let his face fall, and gave him a hauntingly blank expression to convey just how soul-suckingly bad he thought it could be. With a sigh, he turns to Luke, "Yeah, I think you may have the right of it." He rubbed his temples for a moment, thinking about how intrusive the cameras might get, and whether he could live with the group dynamic for the long haul.
Despite his doubts and hesitancy, he perked up slightly at Jack's cheerful optimism, and dragged himself away from his pessi-realistic wallowing and sass, "You know what, you're right. As long as the cameras don't make themselves a nuisance," he glances briefly but significantly at Mr. Mandibuzz before continuing, "this could be a lot of fun for us and our Pokemon. Hiking through the wilderness would be a lot more interesting in a group, if nothing else, and," he swallowed while simultaneously swallowing his testy feelings towards Grumpy, "if we can all get along, I think this could be a really great experience."
He glances at Grumpy, and as an attempted concession, he adds, "And plus, with four of us we can do loads of practice and training. We'll learn a lot more and get a lot better by working together with all of our Pokemon than we would by practicing on our own." He shrugs at the older trainer, "Pokemon champions don't become champions without listening to and learning about different kinds of trainers and Pokemon, and that means spending time with people, like it or not." He takes a long pause this time, then nods, "Yeah, I'm in if you guys are." His eyes flick momentarily towards Aethon on his shoulder. Yeah, I know how you'll feel about loads of nosy cameras and fans... Sorry buddy, but I don't think we have a choice on this one.

The mans smile never fades as Dave starts mentioning invasion of Privacy "Oh no, no. See obviously the cameras wouldn't be around all of the time, that wouldn't make for very good entertainment. And again, you did already sign the paperwork. But we won't be filming you sleeping or going to the bathroom or anything like that. Just the things that people would WANT to see"
He laughs a little as Jack speaks "The kid is right. You don't HAVE to travel together, though keep in mind that you did piss off Team Plasma and he's probably right about them having stronger Pokemon, groups like this tend to come at people with their weakest members first, so that you don't expect the stronger ones later on...." He seemed to drift off into thought for a moment
Bolt looked up at Jack and nodded, running over towards Gawain and then looking back with hopeful eyes. It seems he thought traveling with them could be a lot of fun.
As Azrael begins to question the man, he couldn't hold in a snicker "Sorry kid" He says "It's hard not to laugh when someone with no idea what they're talking about tries to sound like they do. But I'll still answer your question. First, the name is Armando Hargrave. Second, you'll start off with a salary of 3000 Pokeyen a week, getting more once we see just how many viewers you can bring in. Of course eventually sponsorships are also an option for all of you. See, the world is about to be very very different for all of you. It's got to be exciting"
He pulled a briefcase up from the side of the table, opening it to reveal four high tech devices, red with slick black screens "In addition, you all are receiving a Pokedex in order to make the journey a bit easier for you"

"That still sounds like it leaves a lot open..." Dave mutters, making a mental note to see what Hal could do about the cameras... though, he was sure that he'd only be able to pull something off once.
"So? They can bring it." Dave gives a bit of a cocky grin. "I could use the challenge. But," he sighs. "If I'm going to be filmed. I might as well be in a group while it happens." Less chance of them actually focusing on me.
Upon seeing the 'Dexes, Dave's actually rather impressed. "Well, then... looks like there's some signs of sophistication here, after all..." Probably has a lot more memory to carry Hal around in, compared to my PokéNav...

Jack smiled at Bolt's reaction. "Well, that settles it. We're in," he said. Jack couldn't help but grin, despite Dave's sour, cocksure attitude. Maybe he'll be better once we're out on the road...
One phrase hung in Jack's mind, though. '...the world is about to be very different for you...' boy, was that an understatement. Just a few hours ago, Team Plasma was a disbanded memory, and they were all normal trainers, competing in their first tournament, and about to set out on their journey for the first time...but now? Now Team Plasma was back, and he and the others had been the only ones to stand up to them...they had been the thin line standing between Team Plasma and all of the other trainers...and it had all been captured on live TV. Now, they were about to be putting their lives on TV...their whole journey...and that meant that if Team Plasma wanted to find them, to try and make an example of the group that stood up to them, all they had to do was tune in. Then they would know exactly where to find him, Bolt, and the others...
Jack put his hand to his chin, clearly deep in thought. From the way this guy was acting...Jack got the feeling that was exactly what Armando had planned...Team Plasma would be big news, the novice trainers that beat them would be big news, and if Team Plasma kept coming after them...it was free media attention for them...and the guy profiting off the whole thing would be Armando...
Jack looked up at Armando briefly. The guy had been grinning the entire time...and Jack thought he had figured out why. If it was true, then the fact that Armando was willing to put them in harm's way all for money was worrisome...but even so, the advantages to Jack outweighed the risks. The money and opportunity that this afforded would let him focus on Bolt, and any other pokemon he might find...and he would certainly have to, with the threat of Team Plasma looming...
Eventually, the thoughtful look passed from Jack's face and he smiled as Armando brought out the dex's. "Oh, cool, a Pokedex," he said, grabbing onew and flipping it open. "These things can be really useful," he said as he input his Trainer ID number into the dex's registry.
As he waited for the dex to register, he looked back up at Armando. "So what does this mean for the rest of the tournament? Are they calling it off?," he asked.

Luke had stayed quiet after his his last comment, and simply lets the others do the talking as he listens and takes it all in. When the man offers them a Pokédex, he takes his with nothing but a whispered "Thanks", only just loud enough to hear.

Azrael struggled and mostly failed to keep a calm exterior in response to Armando's mocking. Oh Arceus, I hate him so much. Taking a deep breath, he did his best to cool down. Well, it does sound like a good deal. He glanced at Grumpy with a faint expression of approval, glad that he'd agreed to join them despite his attitude. And to be fair, I was being a bit of a jerk too. And then the Pokedexes came out - Oh, damn. Those aren't cheap - and Grumpy immediately soured Azrael's desire for truce. Ugh! What an arrogant, self-absorbed...
Following Jack's lead, Azrael went ahead and took one of the Pokedexes, and tried to absorb himself in getting it setup and properly registered. He looked back up at Jack a few moments later, "Well, hopefully the main stage wasn't important if they're planning to proceed." Bit too sharp there Azrael, he winced internally. And if this guy's in charge, his lip curled slightly, then it's probably proceeding like nothing happened.

Armando looked to Azrael and his smile began to falter for a second, replaced by a hint of anger, before he composed himself and continued "Actually, even without the main stage, we'll be fine. The main issue is that most people aren't exactly keen on continuing the tournament after the attack...."
"However" He said looking between the four of them "That just means that you four have found yourselves as the finalists! Now even though you're all sharing the actual grand prize already, the winner will get a little something....extra. To be given upon victory"

Luke blinks a few moments at the man's statement. They were going to be the finalists? Really. "Wow..." he says softly. He knew he hadn't gotten their through... standard means, but still! He had reached the finals! Who knows, he might actually win this! He looks at the others.
Then again, he might not. The others were pretty strong, after all, but still... he had a chance, at least. He looked down at Gawain, smiling encouragingly.

"Oh, what an honour..." Dave says, dryly, "To reach the finals not because of skill, but because of lack of contestants. Clearly this is the epitome of spectacle." This is a mess. Lack of organization at all levels, seemingly incompetent management, the works. He inwardly sighs. Oh well. A hollow victory is better than quitting.

"Everyone else dropped out?," Jack asked, slightly upset. It was disappointing to him that the other trainers were willing to give up so easily, especially after the danger had passed. "That's a shame...well, when are we holding the semifinals? And when will we find out what the pairings are?," he asked curiously.

"We have to clean up some of the mess, and re market things a little bit. So the semi finals will take place in the morning. You'll find out who you're up against bright and early."
Armando stood up, gesturing towards the door "Be at the main stage by 10, things should be ready by then."
As the group made their way outside, the sun was still lazily hanging in the sky, it seems that even after all the chaos, it was only about 4 P.M.

Being back out in the sun, Jack stretched his arms skyward, arching his back as he stretched.
"Well, I guess we've got a lot of time before the tournament tomorrow...," Jack said to no one in particular, looking up at the sky. He looked over at the others.
"I think me and Bolt are gonna go for a walk on the route just outside of town. Gonna test out this pokedex, and see what we can find," he said, grinning at the others. "I know! We should all get back together for dinner. The Rusty Pelipper is the best restaurant in town, why don't we meet up there?," he suggested eagerly.

Luke follows Jack outside, his good mood somewhat returned. He nods at Jack's proposal. "Sounds like a good plan. I'm going to hit up the road myself too, just want to get Gawain fixed up first." He pats the Eevee on his head. "Later guys!" He walks back inside, returns Gawain to his ball for now and hands him over to be healed. After waiting about 15 minutes, he gets Gawain back, once again fully healed. Quickly, he and Gawain move outside and towards the road, both keeping an eye out for anything interesting. "Great, that settles it!," Jack said, eager to get out on the route. "I'll catch you guys there for dinner. Cya!," he said, heading out towards the route, wracking his brain over where to look for pokemon.

"Much as I relish the thought of eating with all of you," Dave says, with the hint of sarcasm, "I think I'll pass. See you all tomorrow."
With that, he returns to the Pokémon center, to get Hal healed, as well as see about getting a map of the area surrounding the town off of the PC... downloaded into his PokéNav if possible. He hadn't been anticipating the lack of bots to direct him, so this would have to do.
After that, assuming no interruptions, he grabs some more food, and then heads out towards the wilds, to hopefully find something or someone to battle.

LukeAfter getting Gawain back from the nurse, Luke takes off down the road, a gentle breeze blowing and the sun beginning to slide down the sky. After a few minutes of walking, Gawain tugs on Lukes pantleg and points off to the side where a bush was rustling. A few moments later, a small brown and white rodent, with large red and yellow eyes jumps out and holds one hand over its eyes to block the sun as it looks around, eventually noticing Luke and Gawain and chittering loudly DC 5 to recognise JackThe trip along the route is familiar for Jack, having grown up here. The wind lightly blows across his face, and the sun provides a slight warmth, but nothing uncomfortable. After about ten minutes of walking, he and Bolt both notice some tracks nearby. Following them past some bushes, he can see a red and green bug, moving along on a multitude of legs DC 5 to recognize DaveAfter getting Hal healed up, which thankfully took less time, and downloading a local map to ensure his ability to return, Dave was able to grab a small snack from the remnants of the food laid out and was able to start his trek towards the outskirts of town. However, after turning down an alley his Pokenav told him would shave a few minutes off of his overall travel time, Dave noticed something following him. Hal begin to beep loudly in the same direction that Dave had turned and a small Purple and white feline Pokemon jumped out, standing on two legs for a moment before taking on a more defensive posture towards the pair DC 8 for the foreigner

Ah, finally some peace from all of those intrusions, Dave thinks, as he waits for Hal to be repaired... hopefully properly this time. It does gnaw a little on him, though, wondering precisely he'd gotten himself into. Ugh. They'd better not be getting this feed back home. The whole point of me coming out here is going to be lost if they can just see every single trick I come up with...
After eating and heading out, Dave's mood lightens a bit. Blessed silence. Also, now that he's gotten past the sheer barbarism of Unova, it's almost amusing at how quaint it is. Almost. Although it's still infuriating that he has to resort to putting a map on his PokéNav. What kind of city doesn't have guides for foreigners? His train of thought peters out, though, once he sees the Purrloin. "Well, then. Looks like we picked up a tail, Hal." He nods towards the feline... although, he's a little more nervous than he lets on, as he's never actually battled a wild Pokémon before. Always act as though you're being caught on camera, though. Even if it's only the block bots who would probably see it. But, doubly so now that that... Armando is involved. I don't trust him as far as I could throw him. "Let's tango, kitty, shall we? Hal, web it up. Properly, this time." Unfortunately... once again only sparks flew from the Porygon. "Trio..." mutters Dave under his breath. I'm really going to have to have a chat with that Center about dealing with artificial Pokémon...Dave Tags the Purrloin, and then uses Focused Training.
Hal Traces the Purrloin.
Hal uses Electroweb. But... *sigh* Critical failure. Again. The world truly does have it out for Dave...
