Still working on his backstory, but here's what I've got so far for Toby. Not sure on the exact balance of Features yet; I kind of want him to start with some of the Hero's Journey stuff, but I'm indecisive on what to drop in exchange... maybe Chemist, but I like him being able to make bombs.  |

Alright, I think I've finally got my team settled. I've got Dark Type Sync, so here's the proposed alterations for my Sync'd Pokemon, along with a brief summary of my reasoning; let me know if you approve or if anything needs to change.
Dark/Electric Joltik
Swarm > Dark Art (swapping Last Chance abilities)
Fury Cutter > Pursuit (low power moves that are situationally stronger)
Bug Bite > Bite (obvious replacement)
Slash > Night Slash (obvious replacement)
Signal Beam > Dark Pulse (DB8 single target ranged Special move with chance for status)
Bug Buzz > Snarl (sonic cone attack that lowers a CS)
Threaded and Web moves remain as it's still a spider.
Dark/Dragon Axew (yes I know there's already a Dark/Dragon Pokemon but I'm not fond of its design, and shiny Haxorus is perfect.)
Abilities seem fine as-is but let me know if you want to change any.
Slash > Night Slash (again, obvious)
Dragon Dance > Hone Claws (it was either this or replace Swords Dance, and the latter seems more iconic for a monster with blades growing out of its face)
Dragon Pulse > Dark Pulse (I felt at least one of its many Dragon attacks should be swapped, and this one was the easiest analog)

Type Sync's then
Goomy: Dragon/Water
No changes? (Goomy is already semi-Water based, so at most, it will get some more TM choices).
Helioptile: Electric/Water
Abilities may need changing: they're more focused on sun, but there isn't a good replacement for Heliovolt. And Heliovolt+Desert Weather has interesting interactions on a rain team, so, either way is fine with me.
Mud Slap -> Bubble (Both At-Will attacks that lower stats. Mud slap is guaranteed, but Bubble has higher DB)
Quick Attack -> Aqua Jet (straight Normal to Water conversion)
Razor Wind -> Surf (Both AoE special attacks. The set-up can't be replicated from Razor Wind, so just went for a different type of effect)
Bulldoze -> Muddy Water (Both AoE EoT special attacks with a stat debuff.)

Rock/dragon tyrunt -> Ghost/Dragon Tyrunt
Rock head-> Sheer Force (swapping it's recklessness for something similar)
Sprint-> Levitate (movement type for movement type and most ghost types levitate)
Ancient Power -> Ominous Wind (direct analog)
Head Smash-> Dragon Rush (trading one high power move for another)
Dragon claw-> Shadow Claw (direct analog)
Rock Slide-> Phantom force (new near capstone)

Can we set up skill Backgrounds for our Starters as well? My work in progress so far, planning a Duelist+Ace Trainer+Taskmaster+Cheerleader, everything but Inventory and actual character details are filled out. I don't need a Type Shift since normal Swablu is just fine to me. Also, even though we're starting at Trainer Level 8, do we actually start at 8 and 3 DEX EXP from our starters or just 8? |

Related question - will we be using shared Dex EXP? I'm not usually the type of player to catch a lot of Pokemon unless the character or setting really calls for it (i.e. playing a CapSpec or in a setting where trading Pokemon for currency/supplies is common). I don't mind if some players get a level or two ahead of me because of it; just curious how you're going to handle it. ... although now I'm halfway tempted to repurpose the character I was applying to Ceres with for this instead. A Druid/Medic/Botanist/Grass Ace trying to heal a broken world does sound fun... I could go for a Grass/Dragon Druddigon maybe... I dunno though, I'm liking how Toby is turning out so far. Hmm. |

I had a sudden spark of inspiration and chose 3 completely different starters, my dragon will be a Noibat instead. I did my inventory and will have my backstory done by tomorrow.

demillec35, be advised that you can only give your pokemon Last Chance OR Type Strategist ("You can only target a pokemon once with Type Ace").
You also need to take the Arcane Training General Feature in order to wield Arcane Weapons.

matanui3 - Only true if he weren't a Normal Ace with Extra Ordinary. He also seems to have Arcane Training as a Bonus Feature : ) (Which, admittedly, I can't be 100% on that he had 40 min ago )

My character is basically done now. I may add random titbits to the story and the notes if inspiration strikes but other then that stuff should be pretty set in stone now (may consider swapping pathetic intuition for combat for maybe a future Chef career but we'll see...). I'll also add the link again.If anyone has a slow evening I'd be more then happy if you threw a glance at it : ) |
