Seeing the mouse's little dance, Joe's Grimer took it as encouragement to play and shuffled closer to the wild Pokemon, slapping its pseudopods happily against the ground as it approached. A spray of slimy dirt was inadvertently kicked up by the force of the impacts, scattering at the sapling's feet. Cecil may have abandoned his attempts at stealth, but Joe wasn't about to reveal himself. Making a low dash to the next tree, he peeked out from his cover and paled as he saw his defender apparently engaging one of the wild monsters. He didn't care about its life in any real sense, not yet, but if it died that would be one less living wall between himself and whatever dangers roamed the world... Out of long habit, his eyes scanned the trucks for any hidden threats as he got closer, palming his spanner with a white-knuckled grip. Stealth to remain hidden - 15 Perception + 1 AP for Instinctive Aptitude - 7 Mud Slap (AC 2) vs Bonsly - 2, apparently I should have spent AP on this instead. Special Ground damage - 16 If hit, Bonsly gets -1 Accuracy. [ Map ]

Bunnie, moving forward, the mon don't really seem to notice you at the moment, too focused on the active threats that have appeared. The long-haired critter in the truck however, is now looking at you curiously, before tossing the remnants of its meal into its cavernous, toothy maw. The other mustelid, seeing its friend attacking, lets out a hiss of delight and defiance, extending its claws, leaping down from the truck roof... and slashing past the little humanoid as it goes! The little creature gives out a shriek of pain, the sparks it had been emitting faltering as two deep wounds are opened across its rotund belly. Luckily, it's not enough to gut the creature, and it responds in kind, energy crackly over its frame as it speeds up, chasing down its attacker and attempting to clip it round the ear with one over-sized arm. Instead, its foot catches in a tangle of undergrowth, and the little creature falls to one knee with a cry of pain. Joe, creeping forward more, you spot the critter that seems to have caught Bunnie's gaze, though it doesn't see you. From your new angle, you can see that a hole has been torn into the back of the truck that the little thing is perched in, and with the faint light streaming from cracks in the trailer walls, you can see ancient plastic bins all askew. One of them is illuminated just enough to make out the Vault-Tec logo. Boneyard, receiving his command from his pack leader, snarls before spitting a painfully familiar wad of flame at the aggressive mon. The results are nothing short of spectacular. With a high-pitched hiss and a scream of pain, the fire attack easily incinerate much of the creature's fur on its left side, leaving ugly charred holes in its hide as it wavers on its feet. And then, from the right of Christine, a pokeball flies overhead as Amber arrives on the scene, smacking the little monster square in the snout, and easily drawing it into the capsule. It shakes a couple of times, before pinging, leaving Amber with a satisfied look... and the other mustelid looking furious... and afraid. Cecil, your struggling with Christine seems to come to naught, the girl is as slippery as your new friend and totally focused on trying to heal the pathetically quivering bell... which lets out a surprisingly intimidating jangle. Who knew a bell could sound like a growl? (-1 Attack CS on Bones, Christine, Cecil and Amber) Grimer's playful splashing sends mud scattering to either side of the little tree, which lets out a shriek of fear, before its three "leaves" begin glowing white, and it sends back a similar wave of mud at Grimer, hitting the sludge pile in the eyes, and apparently slightly disrupting its cohesiveness! (Grimer takes 10 points of special ground damage before defense and weaknesses, and is at -1 to accuracy) Finally, the little creature that's so enthralled Bunny enters the fray. Waddling slightly as it hops down from inside the truck, it ambles over to Boneyard, getting the mutt's attention with a muted "Munch!" Before extending an impressively long tongue and licking Boneyard from his chin to his eyes! The little dog is left shivering from the lick, muscles contracting and leaving him nearly locked in place! (Lick! Boneyard is paralyzed, Boneyard takes 23 physical ghost damage, before applying defense and resistances) Pichu - 16 Bunnie - 15 Sneasel 1 - 15 Joe - 13 Boneyard - 13 Amber - 12 Cecil - 12 Elekid - 11 Christine - 10 Chingling - 7 Totodile - 6 Grimer - 5 Bones - 3 Munchlax - 1 Bonsly - 1

"Dammit DeLoria," Christine says, glaring at him. "You said it yourself. I'm a doctor. My job, my duty, is to help things. Damn the natural order of things. These things aren't natural. Humans made them, so this human is going to help the one that needs help." As she says this, she's rummaging through her pack to get what she needs. When the bell jangles, she was surprised... but then again, a lot of patients don't like the procedures needed to save them. "Easy there, little one, I'm just here to help you," she says softly, spraying it with the medicine she finally found. This was her element, not the fighting part. Bones, lacking any orders, just looks "endearingly" (as much as he possibly can) over at the creature that looks the same as the one he was last told to attack. Charm to try and get the Chingling to calm down: 9 Using Potion on the Chingling. Bones uses Charm on the Sneasel (Ac 6, 16 to hit).

Amber nods, eyes lighting up as the smoke clears and the ball sits there after a soft click. A success! She's so excited to examine that ball! And...also vaguely distracted, because did that pokemon just /lick/ the other one? She licks her lips, looking around. "Toto, you okay?" She calls out nervously. "Help them take out the other one!" The Totodile wavers for a moment, before shaking his head. He looks around, assesses the situation and finally glares at the Sneasel. His claws streak a bright, shiny metallic color as he slashes out at the dark pokemon! Joe sighed internally in relief as the furry creature he'd spotted was drawn from its hidden position by the commotion. As it left the truck and turned its back to him, Joe scrambled to take cover behind the trailer, nerves screaming at him that there might still be another threat hidden in the other convoy vehicles. Grimer seemed unperturbed by the slight abrasion it got as the sapling returned its gesture, rolling around and releasing a wave of noxious fumes in its muted excitement. Stealth to remain hidden - 19 Perception with Instinctive Apatitude - 11 Poison Gas (AC 6) as a Cone 2 vs Bonsly, and Elekeid and Sneasel if they're still in position when Grimer's turn rolls around - 13 [ Map ]I'm assuming Joe's position is behind the trailer and not on top of/inside it, here.

"No. Your job is to help -us- survive, so we can help the people in the -vault- survive. If you were pulling this good Samaritan shit with a human, that's one thing. These are animals. They've been living aboveground, hunting, killing, and breeding for generations since our forefathers entered the vault. They don't need you." Setting his jaw angrily, Cecil withdrew a pokeball from his pocket and turned around, leaving his back to the Chingling. Boneyard was making quite the face as that tongue drew along his body, quivering and spasming a bit. Great. Things weren't tits up enough, there was more of them coming out of the woodwork now. "Boneyard, the other one now." Cecil pointed at the other sneasel, taking stock of the chaos spreading out before him. Joe's Grimer was moving in on the group of them, and was likely to do /something/ offensive, better to just try and take the cut, squat humanoid out of the fight (Pokeball on Elekid). Boneyard receives 10 damage from Lick after Resistance, and succeeds his Paralysis check then disengages east one square to use Ember on Sneasel (Acc 11, 32 Fire Special SFE). Boneyard's Initiative is now 8 because of Paralysis. Cecil disengages one square to the north and hurls a Pokeball at Elekid (8 Acc, 46 Capture Check). Map

The tiny mouse, seeing its companion go down, lets out a heart-breaking little squeak, before running up and... wagging its tail at the mustelid? Whatever it's trying to do, the dark-furred pokemon looks taken aback, its guard dropping slightly. Bunnie's attempt to capture the little ball of rotundness seems to be going perfectly. The ball sails in a perfect arc, bops the mon on the head and sucks it inside. The orb wiggles and jiggles for a moment... then begins to spark and crackle with energy. A warning buzz from your Vault-Dex sounds, before the orb cracks open with a snap, releasing a rather aggravated looking little ball of fluff, which turns to glare in your direction. The dark-furred biped hisses in Amber's direction, and seems to consider the Totodile as the greater threat than the down-and-out yellow biped or the apparently harmless mouse. It unsheathes its claws with a wicked gleam, and begins slicing at Totodile's scales with gusto. (28 normal physical damage before defenses) Joe, from your new position, you see that the trailer that was blocking off the other two isn't as nearly as whole as it hd looked from the front. There's a side panel that's completely caved in, and the undergrowth covering it from the other side masks a wide hole. You can sort of make out the combat that's happening, nad you think that with a good toss, you can lob a pokeball over the trailer, to hit any of the mon you can see. Boneyard manages to shake off the strange effects of the lick it received, and follows its alpha's orders, though it's ears are pinned back and it's growling savagely at the rotund mon that had attacked it. His second fireball flies just as true as the first, and the dark-furred mon lets out a keening scream as it's horribly burned. The smell of charred hair and scorched flesh is awful. Somehow, it's still up on its feet though. Cecil's lobbed ball smacks directly into the back of the yellow humanoid, which is sucked in with barely a struggle. The little mouse lets out another heartbroken cry, and Amber and Christine can see big fat tears welling up in its eyes from their vantage point as it claws futiley at the pokeball, not seeming to understand where its companion has gone. Christine, the little bell isn't struggling nearly as much, and one eye pops open in shock as the potion begins to help metallic-looking flesh knit back together. It's looking at you with equal mix of curiosity and fear now you think. Rolling to its feet somewhat, it looks around wildly, before spotting the rotund mon that's glaring at Bunnie. Concentraing, a visible corona of some kind of energy surrounds it, before leaping to the target. The rotund mon is lifted off its feet, and begins to flail wildly, yelping as it windmills its arms to try and maintain its balance. Totodile, shocked out of its stupor by the pain inflicted by the dark-furred mon, returns the favor in kind, small under-developed claws glinting with metallic light as it slashes at its opponent! The strike lays the mon's face open to the bone, and sends it spinning to the ground, passed out from the pain! Grimer's happy grunting and gushing result in a noxious cloud that leaves the mouse and the strange sapling looking absolutely green and ill. They've been poisoned! The dark-furred mon, with its bloodied face in the dirt, manages to avoid inhaling any of the toxic fumes. Bones, left without a target, glares impotently at nothing. The little rotund mon, not seeming to realize where the source of its new problem is coming from, spins and tumbles through the air towards Bunnie, and attempts to use its newly-gained height to lick her face. The action however, merely sends it tumbling into a sideways spin with its tongue sticking out and flapping in the breeze. The little sapling, looking ill even as it moves, finally gains the gumption to attack back, bowing sharply and smacking the Grimer with its top "leaf" sharply. (headbutt, 22 physical normal damage before defenses) Pichu - 16 Bunnie - 15 Joe - 13 Boneyard - 13 Amber - 12 Cecil - 12 Christine - 10 Chingling - 7 Totodile - 6 Grimer - 5 Bones - 3 Munchlax - 1 Bonsly - 1

Damn. Seems all my patients are the same, no matter the species, Christine sighs inwardly. "Bones, get over there and help Bunnie. We're fine here, now." She then turns to the little bell, sternly, remembering the many times she's said words along these lines. "Look, I know you're trying to help, but you've just been severely injured. So stop exerting yourself, and take the rest that you need to recover. I won't let anything happen to you, but you need some rest." She hopes that the bell at least gets the gist of what she's trying to say. Menwhile, Bones unrolls, and waddles over to the rotund creature near Bunnie, trying to get it's attention. Christine's command to the Chingling to try and get it to calm down and listen to her: 13 Bones uses his Swift action to get out of Defense Curl, then moves over and uses charm on the Munchlax, as he didn't have a target to use it on last turn: AC2: 13. Amber looks around as the last of the dark mon falls, and is distracted by the tiny little brown mon smacking the other one with it's leaf. She stares at it, wondering absentmindedly if that hurts...
Her attention, though, is quickly taken up as she notices the small yellow pokemon start to cry. "Oh..." She looks over at Cecil and bites her lip. She walks forward, approaching it. She...can already feel that she's going to regret this, because it's a /bioweapon/...but it's also an adorable, crying, fuzzy little animal and she can't resist.
"Hey...hey, it's okay..."" She says, crouching down. "He's there, we can get him out, okay?"

Cecil whistled for Boneyard, and the two of them closed with the tubby looking biped, the Houndour flanking it with a growl. "Never had a girl tell you no tongue without asking first?" *Snk* The knife was out and Cecil lunged for the creature, but misgauged just how thick and round it's hide was. The blade grazed along the side of it's head, lightly shaving a little of the fur off. Boneyard meanwhile took the opportunity to sink it's fangs into the munchlax's shoulder, worrying the wound, sparks of light flickering amidst it's jaws. Bunnie is slow to react. She hadn't known that the balls could just... Fail like that. Amber would want to look at this afterwards, she was sure. In the meantime, while she was offguard, Cecil and Boneyard managed to engage with the little fat thing. She sees Cecil managed to nick the thing but that Boneyard just absolutely began to eat it. "Don't hurt it too much!" She readies another Pokeball and throws it as hard as she can. Pokeball Accuracy: 10-6=4 Cap Roll: 56

Peering through the husk of the convoy truck, Joe grimaced in something close to sympathy as the sapling smacked a limb into his Pokemon. The Grimer barely seemed to register the hit as its face caved in on impact before bouncing back into shape, still smiling vacantly at its new 'friend.' Unwilling to risk the poisonous creature actually getting injured, Joe palmed another empty ball, inching forward as he bid his time until the brown and green creature was distracted. He was loathe to waste another of his limited supply, but it did seem like te most efficient and safest way to remove a threat from the field. The right moment came as Grimer plopped itself up and down in a strange sort of hopping dance, spraying the sapling with another wave of moist dirt - Joe lobbed the ball with all his (admittedly inconsiderable) might. Grimer will use Mud-Slap (AC 2) - 8 Special Ground damage - 19 If hit, target gets -1 Accuracy. Joe will delay his turn until after Grimer's and Fling (AC 2) a Pokeball at the Bonsly - 14 Physical Dark damage - 12 Capture Check - 17 [ Map ]

As the Munchlax disappears into the ball, Cecil gives Bunnie a sideways glance. "Aww Bun, not you too..." The greaser shakes his head. "We're out here to survive. I get you find it cute or whatever, chicks are into that, but they ain't gonna do us no favors if we need it."
Running a hand through his hair, Cecil visually took in the Pichu which was currently sobbing openly against his Pokeball and quirked an eyebrow. "Listen, just don't go sticking your neck out. There's five of us now, you or Christine decide it's not a good time to lay down some hurt, that number might go down, if you get me."

The little sapling lets out a scream of pain as the mud splashes over it, its solid-looking body seeming to corrode from the mud touching it. Thankfully the scream is quickly silences as the pokeball, barely dinging its head, makes contact and draws it in, locking shut almost immediately. The tiny mouse, now left all alone, stares up at Amber with huge dewy eyes. When she leans down to comfort it, it seizes the opportunity to race up her arm, and huddle in the crook of the girl's neck, whimpering and making noises of discomfort and fear. Every so often there's a sharp sting as the little thing gives off a fat spark of electricity, but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the shocks that Amber had received from the decaying wiring in the vault. Other than the whimpers of the little mouse, the bell is giving off a gentle trilling, looking up at Christine gratefully. There don't seem to be any other denizens of this area nearby, or if there are, they're keeping well hidden. Everyone receives 1 Trainer XP, and 42 points of mon XP to split between your teams

With things wound down again, Cecil listened to the plaintive cries of the Pichu for a moment. He rolled his tongue along his lower jaw and shifted uncomfortably, amidst the small cracking sound of static bolting to Amber. Scratching his head, he let out a long puff of a sigh and tried to casually make his way over to where the Elekid's ball lay. Picking it up, the greaser spiked it at the ground and caught it on the return bounce. The ball spilling it's contents on the ground amidst a flare of white light.
"Just quiet yer little friend down alright bud." Cecil said in a low tone, shoving his hands in his pockets before awkwardly putting some distance between himself and the inevitable reunion, trying to act unconcerned with the whole thing. He lit up the smoke he'd started at the vault, and finished it to the last while leaning against the ruined cab of the truck.
The Elekid looked around for a moment. "Bebe? Bebebe!?" He buzzed while he held hands near his mouth, calling through them. Pichu was hard to notice where it disappeared into Amber's hair.

"Well," Christiine chuckles, "You certainly listen better than most of my human patients. Look, would you mind coming along with me, so I can make sure that you're all better. You do make a lovely sound..." She holds out one of the Containment Capsules for the bell, as well as scanning it with the VaultDex.

The little bell looks at the ball warily for a moment, before nodding along with your instructions and bumping the ball's sensor, getting sucked in.
A moment later, your Dex beeps. Chingling, the Bell Pokemon. Psychic type. Crafted as a living ornament and decoration for temples and shrines adhering to different faiths, they gained popularity as pets for their cheerful ringing. In combat their ability to utilize high-frequency noise as a weapon has made them useful as living alarm systems and for incapacitating enemies. Synching with Pokeball. Subject using 6% of full potential. Moves known are Growl, Wrap, and Telekinesis. The Dex pauses, then emits a two-tone sound you'd never heard before. Warning, telepathic capable mon are to be handed over to Vault-Tek or Genetico for processing and handling. Any non-licensed psychic pokemon will be confiscated by the Home Guard.
The mouse, hearing its friend calling, peers out from under the curtain of Amber's hair, and lets out a somewhat happy squeak. It's still looking very poorly though, the skin under its fur pale and waxen, and its gaze slightly listless. The toxins from Grimer are still obviously affecting it.

"Telepathic? Huh... Well, I'll be..." She looks around. "Well, I guess that since we aren't exactly in a position to follow those directives, I can consider myself authorized by Skrub." She lets the Chingling out. "Here, I'll bandage you up." She grabs a bandage from in her pack, wrapping it gingerly around the bell. Can you...really understand what I think? After trying to think of a good name for the bell, she settled on, "Clement. I think I'll call you Clement, if that's all right. I remember 'the bells of Saint Clements' as a line from a song..."
After that's all done with, she turns around and asks "Does anyone else need any help?"

Christine, next to you, Bones lets out an odd grunt of satisfaction. He's fiddling with that strange stone you'd given him, which has taken on an extraordinary luster. As you look about to see who needs help, you spot something. There's a light behind you, brighter than the sunlight, and it's casting long sharp shadows.
Bones has begun to glow like a tiny sun, giving off harsh white light as tendrils of energy crackle over his skin. He looses a long, drawn out "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" as his form begins to swell, upward and outwards, the vague outline you can barely make out smoothing and changing. Finally, after several seconds, the light dies down. Bones looks... different. Twice his original size and apparently three times the girth, the ponytail and "waistband" are gone, replaced by odd dreadlock-like crests of hair, and a single pouch containing an egg that's easily the size that Bones just was. "Chansey!" he grunts, his expression still just as disgruntled as ever.
