Rubbing at his forearm, which was a bit numb from the jolt, Cecil could only shoot the squat humanoid an irritated glance. He didn't know what it's problem was, but he'd get to the bottom of it later. The holodisk had full well captured his attention, and as he listened to the final entry he became pale. This was just the sort of thing he'd been trying to get through to Christine.
More disconcerting was the sound of shearing metal, and the attention those howls drew from Cable. Cecil turned back towards the cab of the truck, it'd looked like a bomb had gone off in it. Driver had squatted there with a broken leg, if the disc was any indication. There was no way. Keeping his eyes on the Elekid, he moved back into eyeshot, and better hearing range of the others.
Starting the tape over again, and leaning against the cab with a leg bent at the knee, Cecil didn't speak until it had finished another cycle. He let a hush fall over their impromptu campsite before he spoke again. "Amber I gotta know if something ripped it's way through the cab of this truck. Should probably keep an eye out for any petri's too, I dunno what kinda dishes you'd keep one on, but dude was nervous."

"Petris? Petri dishes!" said Christine, a little irritated. "You idiot, didn't you pay any attention working in medical? We test vaccines in some of them. They were in that corner where I told you to not touch anything. I...worry about what might have been in those ones out here, though. Medbay only uses very weak stuff... Science wing probably uses some more powerful ones in their research. But...I don't think the knowledge we have holds a candle to what the people out here were capable of doing." She frets a little, the full import of the message sinking in... "I'm just glad that those were old enough for us to not worry about contamination anymore..." I hope... she thinks, not wanting to worry anyone. She didn't want to think of the implications of what could have happened... Biohazardous chemicals in petri dishes? Yeah... there's a lot that could have gone wrong. But she didn't want to think about that. Or worry any of the others with her worrying. Because she didn't need Cecil ragging on her about another thing.

Amber listens to the dex entries and frowns. The Pichu...well, at least she knew for sure that the sparks weren't intentional. The pokemon in question seemed pretty content to hang on her shoulder, so she didn't bother it as she pulled a ration bar from her bag, stomache grumbling starting to bother her. "You're pretty cute..." She says, smiling as she unwraps it. "But if Pichu is your species...maybe I should be naming you guys..." She trails off thoughtfully, thinking about possibilities, and pockets the wrapper from the thick, pasty granola bar in her hand. First bite in, of course, with her cheeks pushed out like a chipmunk, and a small animal tangled in her hair, is when she looks up to find Cecil approaching her. Flushing darkly, she swallows hard and coughs at the rough pressure in her throat from the too large bite. "I, um, yes! O-of course," She stutters out, delighted at the request of something she can do for the group. Careful not to dislodge the Pichu, which yawns widely and sways a bit, she approaches the wreck again and walks around to get a few good angles from it. 13 - Tech Edu 14 - Perception
Perception resultsAmber, even with the age of the vehicle, you find a semi-protected plate on the inside rear of the cab with a clear imprint of a huge fist, matching a dent on the exterior of the cab wall. It's even bigger than Skrub's fist, the few times you'd seen him make one, and clearly worn down by time. Though at first you'd thought some kind of explosive had gone off, the lack of slagged materials inside the cab, a few melted areas aside, indicates that this was done mainly through sheer brute force.

Amber's examination slows down the longer she looks, until she ends up in the center of the burst open cab, pale and staring. "C-Cecil?" She finally calls out through the hole. "I think you should come here..."
If anyone comes in at her call, notably Cecil, she'll hold out a shaking hand at the fist print. "I, um. I think you were right. This wasn't an explosion...someon- some thing broke their way out of her by force."

Cecil gave Christine a vapid stare as she ranted and insulted him yet again, it was pretty clear even the echoes of a dead man weren't enough to get through those high and mighty views she lorded around, looking down her nose at people. When she was finally done, he rolled his shoulders and responded to Amber's call.
The boy's eyes followed where she was pointing and he could feel a sweat start to build along his brow, and under his collar. Both times the recording had played, Cable had become more visibly alert, though the second time it had glanced suspiciously in his direction. Taking a steadying breath Cecil clapped a hand on Amber's shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze.
"Listen, Amber, that was two hundred years ago. Won't be nothing like that nearby anymore, alright?" He lied. "Take a breather, maybe get some sleep when you're ready. Thanks for the assist." The last bit was mumbled and Cecil scratched behind his ear before making his way on top of one of the flipped containers to find a highground.
Elekid buzzed and bounded after him, staring intently at Cecil's Vault-Dex. The Greaser attached the dongle to the squat humanoid's ball. "What even are you... and why do you keep getting all excited over 'it' wrecking the truck..." He muttered to it.

Amber bites her lip, but...Cecil probably knows better, right? He's the strong one, and there's a part of her that just...doesn't want to consider the alternative, so she nods. "Y-yeah. Nothing could live that long..." She says quietly, looking around. "Should we sleep here, you think? With...with a watch, just in case? My dex said these Sneasel things travel in packs, and there might be more.."

Bunnie shakes her head.
"If we're in danger out here, a watch isn't going to mean anything. We need to press on. There has to be some kind of civilization around here somewhere, we're bound to run into it. I'll get us a place to rest after that."

"It's a rock? Not a plant?" And the Bonsly's specialty was crying. Wasn't even successfully used as a weapon, unlike the rest of the 'pets' they'd encountered. By this point Joe was not surprised that he'd ended up with the most useless Pokemon once again. He probably could've just let it alone, and it would've run away in tears without hurting anyone. Or gotten eaten by those black things with claws. Was a 'rock type' Pokemon even edible?
Joe was still riffling through the remnants of old crates when Amber joined him in the truck, apparently looking for something specific. "P-pretty sure there's nothing else worth taking in... here..." He trailed off as he followed her intent and nervous-looking stare to see the huge fist imprint. How had he not noticed that before? Of course, stupid, looking everywhere but the walls... overwhelmed by a sudden instinctual terror, Joe stumbled out of the opening in the side of the truck that he now had context for, almost faceplanting on the ground in his haste. Just in time to overhear Bunnie. His voice broke sharply as he protested without thinking. "You want to travel out here at night? At the mercy of every nocturnal predator that will kill us before we even see it? Are you insane? We could at least have walls at our backs here and leave at... uh... sunrise? [small]That's what it's called, right,[/small] [small][small]the morning?[/small][/small]" He was quickly drained of the shock that had momentarily overcome his unassertive nature.

"Yeah, I think we should keep going. Cecil and I have dogs that can not only keep us aware of anything after us, but can also make fire. On top of which, I'm not entirely enthusiastic about staying the night anywhere near this truck. Not after those recordings we heard."

"Low profile, low footprint." Cecil called down to Bunnie distractedly, fiddling with his Vault Dex. "Besides the recordings are really old, that thing's gotta be long dead and gone Bun. We've got cover here, if people can keep their yaps shut, and we do without a fire tonight, it should be alright." From his heightened perch the boy visibly swept the landscape, going silent for a moment. "I'm for holing up in the trailers one night. Keep our eyes and ears open, take stock of what we can. I don't like surprises. Keep one of your critters out and close."

"I think Deloria and I are in agreement," Christine says. For once... "Just... If we're going to do that, we better hope that there's nothing bigger clomping around in the woods that can breach that truck." You idiot, Christine! What's the first rule in these situations? Never let anyone know how bad it is. If your doctor has confidence that you'll pull through, it makes you feel better... Damn, one day out here and I'm already slipping. "Also," she admits. "I'd like to sleep somewhere where I don't have all this..." she gestures vaguely upwards, "...emptiness above my head. It's pretty to look at, but...I don't know about you guys, but I've spent the whole day specifically avoiding staring up as much as possible. I don't know how things out here can stand not having a roof over their heads."

Amber bites her lip, considering the discussion. "I would also rather stay for the night," She finally says, looking down. "If something does attack, or something happens before we get to the next signal...or if we /do/ get there, and it's something bad or dangerous..."
She trails off and is silent for a few moments. "One of the guys in the Vault almost lost his arm, one time, because he was distracted and made a mistake with one of the big machines. I don't think it's in our best interest to drain ourselves more than we have to, and risk not being at our best if something goes wrong."

Bunnie throws up her hands in defeat. "Ok. If that's what you want."
