The Phlask pouts, but his surface hurts worse than his pride, so he doesn't actually complain too much. The area is a lot darker now without the boar, but it's getting dark enough that the sands and water are beginning to visibly glow. You caught a Borealis (Lv 15, Male, Silver Wind as an egg move, choose everything else)!

"Flying Colors? Where'd you get off to?" Parish calls into the open air now that Oops was away, and Hero was making himself comfortable in the shallows. "The big mean... whatever that was won't bother you anymore. This island was probably too small for it anyway... what would something that size even eat? Other then whatever it wants..."

After a few more moments, the rainbow snake finally shows itself again, looking around, as though wary that the disappearance is just a ruse. The pig was there, and now it's not there, and where'd it go??? ...was it eaten? Has this been a terrible misjudgement, and it's about to get eaten, too?!?
And just as quickly as it reappears, it disappears again, though the shimmer looks to be there, still.

"Haha... no, we fought it and won. I'm not going to eat you, but I will leave you to your island. Now Pig-Free... hopefully. It was really great meeting you, and learning about you today. I might be back again tonight after a dip, depends on what the rainbow water is like swimming in it." Parish attempted to give it a little affectionate stroke, before waving farewell. "I had a lot of fun!"

There's some relief from the snake, and it decloaks, letting him pet along its length, before they part, with the serpent attempting to copy the wave with its tail.
Hero seems a bit sad to see the new friend go. Even if the new friend wasn't all glowy.

"I don't think he's ready to come with us yet, Hero. I'd love to have him along, like you he protected me and definitely didn't have to, but... I feel like he's happier here. There aren't rainbow trees where I come from, or water that glows at night. Or nice fish friends." Plopping into the surf, he rubs comfortingly between the fish's antennae. "We'll give him some time to think about it, and ask when we come back, okay?"

The ripple seems to not really have gone far from them, even if it isn't really following them beyond the shore.
The night water, Parish discovers, is definitely a lot brighter than the shallows. Pretty much all the plants beneath the surface glow as well - at least on the shelf. The deep is still an inky black void below the schools of glowing fish.
It turns out that more than the obvious creatures glow, though, as the fish with butterfly wings jump out of the water, cascading around, their wings glowing in the evening darkness. It seems tranquil.

The swim was pleasant enough, some of the fish carrying an additional surprise he wasn't quite expecting. The extreme depths still looked just as foreboding as they did earlier, and with that in mind he was certain was best left well enough alone. Being a little fish in a big pond was pretty dangerous. When he was a bigger fish, maybe then he'd go see life on the seabed proper. Open water, aglow in the dark wasn't his wisest decision, but thankfully Hero had been there. After returning to the beach, he once more called on Flying Colors, and when the snake presented itself, he asked it to join him places beyond the colored water.
Business attended for the evening, he settled at the upper end of the beach, just within the trees. "Sorry for being such a handful today. It was all a lot to take in. Learning on my own merit is different from being taught. Everyone else is probably to, or through the portal already."

The snake seemed hesitant at first, but in the end, decides to join the Trainer and his motley crew. After all, who knew when another boar or bird or whatever would move to the island???
"Psh, don't worry about it," Rebecca says. "The captain specifically gave people a few days. And it's no problem for me, I just work here," she teases.

"Still, it can't be easy, that mostly hands off approach. Especially right now. Sixty years ago, back home, if you were caught off guard by a Pokemon it was a garanteed death sentence. Even in my time, with the recovery and the reclamation going on, the elders that are still around are nervous around them. I feel pretty gifted to have a chance to see every side of things as it develops." Parish gets comfortable and watches the night sky. "Even knowing it was just hunger for that eel, it made no distinction between me and its other prey."

"Each world is different. And they are so, so big, that it's always likely that even if you're there with people, you'll see something that nobody else has ever seen before," Rebecca says. "For me? I get to see what everyone is seeing. Even if I can't be there myself, I can still experience some of it. And, hey, maybe I'll end up getting out somewhere someday again. You never know."
"And, I mean, you are kind of squishy, from the looks of you," Rebecca teases. "Don't have that 'don't touch me' vibe. Which, to be fair, is most humans, especially if they haven't had further augmentations to give them elemental control."

"On A-2 that tech came about from someone kind of horrible, who used Pokemon as a living infusion to augment humans. Ended up being necessary for our survival. Without things coming out the way they had, it would have been completely uninhabitable. Biohazardous even... but I'm not really comfortable with further augmenting, because of that. Hey, try to get some actual sleep tonight?"

"Nah, that all makes sense. Even without that history, a lot of people are uncomfortable with it. Feel like it makes them less human. At least the adaptations don't leave anything permanent," she says. "And... I'll see what I can do, rest-wise. But don't you worry about me. I'm not the one out there. It's supposed to be me worrying about you." Rebecca laughs. "Have a good sleep, Parish."
Hero hops back from the surf to lay beside Parish, it apparently only just now occurring to him that he could... get out of the water on his own. Not that there'd be anything for him on land before, but...

"Goodnight Rebecca." Tucking an arm around Hero, he nestled the fish close. Sure, he would smell like low tide at the pier in the morning, but at least he was comfortable. And it wasn't like a swim wouldn't remove the smell anyway.

Hero's glow dims to a much more comfortable level as the fish goes to sleep, followed by Parish soon after.
The sun rises on the other side of the island from Parish and company today, but it's no less bright a wake up as Hero seems eager and ready to go, brightly flashing lights and jumping up and down. It seems like "sleeping in" is not yet in his vocabulary.

"Alright, alright, it is about that time. I understand." Laughing softly, Parish shares some of his rations with the bright and excitable blobfish, before taking his bearings and starting towards the portal once more. There was a good chance there might be another island or two along the way for him to explore, but shy of something catching his eye underwater, deep diving was a past and future thought.

Setting out on adventure once more, the islands he finds towards the portal direction seem to be mostly those like the first one they were on, barren of most life barring a handful of plants.
The oceans, too, seem fairly similar, although there's a bit of diversity. Some bright blue and green slugs crawl around and horned gold and silver fish swim through the waters.

Parish is content to poke along through the day at his own pace, chat idly with Rebecca, and wave at the passing sealife. He manages to find more shards as he traverses the islands, and fashions them into a tusk ring in a pale jade for Falling Star. Maybe the boar will be more amenable after a gift, but that is a conversation to have when the swimming for the day is well and over with.

The sun is setting before he realizes that he recognizes the island in front of him. With the sand and water beginning to glow, the building built to secure the portal comes into view. It seems that he's finally made it. These will probably be the last few minutes here, at least for now. So he should finish what he wants to do.

Parish releases Falling Star, having given the Pokemon most of a day to rest and recuperate. He makes to channel it, and manages albeit barely. "We got off on the wrong hoof. I have something for you." Lightly, the boy places a jade colored crystal ring over each tusk. "Stay or go, these are yours with my blessing. They will protect you from any insects you might encounter. I admire your strength, and your unflinching tenacity. They aren't common traits."
