A soft quiet takes the field as Mmip buys herself the briefest of respites. Muku's hand hovers inches away from the Zapdos before she is forced to withdraw it in a huff, knowing that it would only wake the sleeping bird. "Mmip. Be ready. Cover him in cotton. Talon, get stronger. We'll finish this quickly." She barks. Her eyes glaze over with malicious intent. Talon sharpens the executioner's blade. Mmip looks on nervously as she flutters back in forth. They were just supposed to talk to the murdering bird... Right? Diligently, she attempts to cotton up the Zapdos a little bit regardless, not really sure what move it is, but still attempting to follow the command. Muku takes a step forward, gets down low, low to the ground. She removes her hat, and whispers menacingly into the Zapdos' ear. "I know you think we're supposed to spare you. If you've heard about me. But I'm not feeling charitable after what you did to my friend. So. Give me a reason to spare you. Otherwise, I am going to feed you to my swords and watch as your soul decays to nothing."Mmip celebrates her brief, ephemeral victory over nature by Fluttering and attempting a Low Blow. Providing it hits, Zapdos must make an opposed Acrobatic's Check against Mmips's Acrobatics. If Mmip hits, then Zapdos' Initiative drops to 0 and is Vulnerable for one round.
Muku attempts to Terrorize the sleeping Zapdos. Providing it hits, Zapdos must make a Focus or Intimidation Check contested against Muku's Intimidation. On a failure, Zapdos may not use any moves with a Frequency greater than At-Will for one round.
Talon dances the dance of his people, the sword dance.

Zapdos' beak continues to rattle aggressively, beads of sweat breaking out across its plumeage, aware of something going on around it but unable to fully regain consciousness. (Both checks fail, as do both sleep checks.)

Her eyes looked pitifully down at her foe. This was getting rather unsporting for everyone. Talon's blades wrap around her hands and altogether they lean in to strike. Mmip, Flutter, Mega Drain

The reddish feathers flickered and flashed with a golden brilliance shot through with green and yellows as power surged under the surface of the bird's skin. With another flaming aerial kick, it puts Mmip down for good, at last free to focus with the source of its rage put away. Zapdos is free of the effects of rage powder, and takes a stagger. Zapdos uses Focus Energy as a free action. Zapdos uses Bulk Up. Zapdos' typing becomes Electric/Fighting. Zapdos gains Levitate.

Through gritted teeth, Muku recalls Mmip. Sweet beautiful baby. Did she deserve getting kicked so? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, it was NOT looking good at this point. But as long as she could power through, maybe. Maybe she could win this yet. She lashes out with a furious buffet that broke past the new muscles. Her other hand grips Talon tightly, as she braces for any potential impact. With a swerving hiss, she tosses out a Pokeball which explodes into the angry form of Hornise; famed bird hater and known disliker of fire. Why her trainer would choose to send her out against such a massive and horrifying creature was beyond her, but she would try, try anyways. "Talon! Swipe! Hornise! Stab with horn! Flip em'!" Muku cries. Lowering her horn, blades searing through the air, both Pokémon make an attempt to land a hit as well. Muku is going to use Chip Away and ignore any new Defense after bringing in Hornise. She'll also burn her Swift Action to activate Trick-Or-Treat and become Ghost for the round.
Hornise joins the fight at Init 20 and is going to start things off with an ill-advised Megahorn. At the end of their move, Stat Link bumps up their Atk.
Talon is going to try and hit with Shadow Sneak.

Zapdos drew an aura of menace about itself as it returned to the fray, a flaming kick against Talon, before the leg was even down the other snapped up with a burst of electricity that arced to Hornise, and the bird rounded on the insect and drove it's beak home with murderous intent.
(100 Fire Physical to Talon, Plus 87 Electric Physical, Plus a Tick. 82 Electric Physical to Hornise, Plus a Tick, plus 97 Flying Physical, and if she Endures somehow, another 69 Normal Physical, resisted one step more.. Blaze Kick and Drill Peck are critical hits.)

Hornise parries the beak. Countering returns 67 Damage. Talon is out. Sending out Whoopie. Muku Acrobatics. Despite their heightened defenses, the twin blades of Talon clatter to the ground lifelessly from Muku's hands. With a war cry she lifts up her leg to keep up the fierce some fight, kicking upwards with great vigor. Hornise, however handles things less well. As the drill beak flies towards her, she panics. This was not something she was designed to take? So would she take it?! No! With a bap of her horn, she shunts the drilling beak to the side, causing it to miss it's intended target utterly. She grabs the leg with incoming leg and gives it a vicious twist before stepping back. Today was a horrible day to die. Off to her side, Muku skips back after her strike, putting a floppy Whoopie between her and the foe. Whoopie lets out a big ol' happy yawn, sweetly oblivious to the utter chaos and distruction that was going on about her. She dives right in, throwing her body into the Zapdos with a big ol' bop. Talon is downed, Whoopie enters the fray at Init 4. She slammin'. Hornise survives(for now) by using Parry on Drill Peck and Countering the electric kick to deal 67 damage. Muku Splashes out, and throws a boosted Acrobatics as she goes.
Special Note; Whoopie ignores all enemy stat changes.

Spreading its wings wide, Zapdos shrieked skyward, the power it had held bursting free in all directions hurling Muku and her Plock clear, throwing earth and debris ahead of the nova and atomizing the plant life in a wide ring. When the flare of light died away, it stood waiting as Muku drew herself up, Xatu lay between them.
"So much to take a meal that was earned.". Zapdos clicked his beak in a thick accent. "What would a human know of survival. Of growing strong in solitude. Joo are no better than the buzzards of the desert, the crows of the cities. You land on my island, and threaten my mastery with cheap tricks and prey animals.". It thrashed its head and tore at the ground with its clawed feet.
"I have nothing to prove to Joo. I do not fear death. Life is the privalege of the strong. I will die before I let my light pale."

It takes a moment for Muku to rise. Ears ringing, head spinning, it takes an embarrassingly long time just to get up. It is eventually Whoopie who helps achieve this, sliding their slimy form beneath Muku and raising her up to a standing position. As she catches her breath, she listens. Tries to. Fails to. In impotent anger, she takes her captain's hat and tosses it to the side, revealing her comb in all it's splendor.
"Your light- isn't something you've earned." She spits. "There is no point in skewering a moochbird. Xatu. They barely fight, harm others; he took nothing that wasn't freely given, and gave up everything just to bring me here."
Muku shudders, her heart threatening to burst from her chest. Pure loathing streams from her eyes as they bore into the Zapdos before her. "I knew he was going to die. I'm the reason he's dead much as anyone else. But that he would be killed by you; a selfish, isolationist asspidgey, who preaches survival, but would stand by as the world drowns, drives me to fight. You are completely undeserving of all you've been given."
Fear of death.
Lust for power.
Those were both motivations she understood. She knew what it was like to be afraid of dying. It was a wretched, crippling thing. But she rejected that. To build a domain of ice, a world of unending tranquility found upon a world where nothing but water remained. To hold dominion in such a world. She rejected that too. Her fingers tighten upon Talon's hilts.
From underneath her crooked hair, daggers as she stares and says, "Give me your excuse. Every one of your brethren had an excuse. You give me yours."

Zapdos cocked his head, one brow set low. "Joo beep like a Child, with no sense. Saying words that when put together mean nothing.". He leaned his posture back. "What is this drowning, these bretheren? I was born on this island. Am the only of my kind. I do not fly, and kill only to eat. What, it does no matter. Prey die so that the predator may live. The predator dies so that the soil and plants may live. The plants die so that the prey may live. This is the cycle."
Zapdos heaved its wings and considered Xatu with a side-eye. "What will you do with him then, place him in the dirt as you humans do? Confined, cold, restrictive dirt? This is no place for a bird."

Muku relaxes. Subtly. Did... Did he really know? How did he not know these things?! Regardless, she pauses to consider the questions carefully before answering in her own inflammatory manner. "I don't know how you can be this stupid. The world is going to be drowned. There's rain; unending rain. The fire bird was afraid of it. The ice bird welcomed it. But you? How did you not know about it?! Do you seriously not leave this island?"
She pauses to consider the question more fully. It wasn't raining here, was it? There was snow and fire in the other places but here? Just... Unending sunshine.
"Anyways, I'll explain it if I have to. It's complicated and I don't actually like talking, but I'll do it. And yes, if you're gonna just up and kill Xatu, you can eat him to. Don't waste his body. That's the very least you can do really. Not sure what you getting on about with all this 'dirt' business." She replies, her nose wrinkling in disgust.
A small lump in her throat rises. This was probably the way that Xatu wanted it to happen. Skewered quickly. Then eaten by a much larger bird.

"What parts of 'whe are on an island and I can no fly.' do you not understand? Bad storms come sometimes, for a full few months every year. Monsoon season. Rain in sheets, high winds..."
There was a small throaty sqawk from the bird which suddenly snapped its head to look skyward. The long, sharp beak opened and closed several times. "There was a time, not long ago, that the rains took part of the island, and then the sun baked it until the plants were wilted. We nearly starved."

"What kind of bird doesn't fly?! You have wings! Use em'!" Muku retort0s sharply. Birds that couldn't fly. Horrifying and ridiculous. Much like herself really. But they were getting somewhere. Finally noticing her insectoid companion with her head stuck in the trunk of a tree, she lifts out her outstretched arm and recalled her. Talon too, now that she thought about it. They felt altogether too still in her hands anyways.
She was still out for blood in her heart at least. But she could hardly bring herself to kill Zapdos if it was this level of ignorant of current events. "I'm not sure about the sun part. But where we are, it hasn't stopped raining for days. A human town has nearly been flooded by the sea. I helped hold it back. But before that even, the bird that is dead, Xatu, told me about the coming cataclysm."
Her hand reaches up and pinches her nose. "I'm a bit foggy on the details. But to make a long story short, you and two other birds needed to be brought in to help an even larger one to defeat the monster in the sea. The one who makes the rain. If you failed; if I failed, then there'd be a good chance everyone would drown. So that's why I'm here. I'm here for you to make you fight. And honestly, the other two birds were absolute pidgey-brains and so are you. But you're a different kind of pidgey-brain, so I'm going to have to just let that one go."

Zapdos again spread its admittedly short wings. A bird it's size would need wings several times the size of a Staraptor, and these were not. It seemed to have used them mostly for fighting, and even then just barely. "This thing, who is making the great rains, it must be very strong. I will eat, and then I will kill it, or I will die trying."
Little arcs of electricity rippled over the Pokemon's feathers. "North east.". It approached Xatu. "Your last chance to take your friend to do what you will. If it was not him, it would have been you on my beak."

Fearlessly, she approaches, looking up at the larger creature with eyes that lacked her usual quality of levity. They were tight. Still bitter. "You underestimate me. There are things a flock can do that single bird cannot. IF not this time, then the next. Things might not end as well as they had today."
She leaned down, plucking a feather from atop his head and a blood-stained sunhat. Miranda's favorite she said. She'd have to get a new sunhat. "I'm sorry. And thanks." She whispers, clutching the loose bit of cloth and favor in her hands. After a moment she gets up. This one wouldn't allow for weakness. She needed to show him a tough upper lip. "This one was important to me. This one was of my plock in his own way. My senior, in his own, weird way. I permit you to eat him and continue the cycle. It does not do for meat to go to waste."

Zapdos considered Muku with great levity, before a great taloned leg pinned its kill, and he began to eat, tearing strips of meat free while Muku watched. Brittle bones, feathers, talons, beak. The legendary did not hesitate to take in all that Xatu was. In the end, a little stain from the gore was all that remained. The bird's red plumeage hid any signs of blood on it.

Perhaps if Muku was a human, she might be outraged or angry watching as the Zapdos took up every speck, every piece, every little offering of that which remains of what was once her friend and would-be mentor. But Muku was not a human, at least not in the normal sense. She understood innately that to live was to die and if you were to die, then at least make a tasty corpse. To waste what he was would have been a minor sacrilege in it's own right. Leave burying to those who no longer lived in such a way that meant to die meant to be eaten. Theirs would rot. A Pokémon had another fate, the fate of continuing in the flesh, if not in the soul. Zapdos could have ended up like that too.
She frowns. That thought. That was a weird thought. Not quite a Muku thought. Where'd that one come from? It's not like she had the powers to steal souls or anything. That's not a Starly power. Whatever. Muku didn't eat souls it was fine.
Reaching into her bag, she pulls out a rotting bottle o- You know what? No. Narrator here. This is where consumes Moomoo Milk. An item that has been in her inventory for several weeks. Logically, this milk must truly horrifying and ransom. There might be things living in this milk. More culture than the Royal Kalos Orchestra. It's awful. But you know what? Muku's not drinking something like that. She knows better. Magically, as if by magic, the Moomoo milk has become cheese. Yes. What? Do you not think that's how it works? Clearly. But Muku don't care. Muku eats the cheese, this magical cheese that has somehow spontaneously appeared in her bottle. Wow. Magic cow milk. It's eaten. This bottle is gone now. The rest is also cheese. We'll talk about this later. Byeee.
Muku, unaware of the diversions weaved by an omni-present, but not omnipotent narrator, eventually calls out to the Zapdos. "Ok. So. If you can't fly, we're gonna have a problem. If this is island, then you're needed somewhere far, far off from here. How do you plan on getting there?"

Zapdos clicked his beak in thought, and headed for the shore. Should Muku follow him, she observes as he gets a running start, and proceeds to bolt across the water as though it were solid ground, until she loses sight of him.
Run. He would run there if he couldn't fly.

"What a pathetic bird." Muku mutters. Still. That stupid bird was the probably the best chance she had for reaching civilization now that... Now that Xatu was gone. She couldn't waste any time on grief.
A crack of light, a terrifying beast of ages emerges. "Monolith. I need your wings. That direction in the horizon; we need to fly until we reach somewhere that can get us back our bearings."

The flight of Monolith is long, but his wings are broad and strong. He lands on an island where people speak strangely, and Muku has her Pokemon tended to and tries a strange food called malasaladalasalada. Or something. It is better then moo moo cheese, but it's still kind of gross, and is mostly vegetables. Fed, and healed, they resume their flight on towards dusk and into the storm.
