Robin chuckles before Jean-Marie continues, turning to see the glint as well. "Huh. Yeah, let's take a look."
Without waiting for a response, Robin goes towards it, looking loose even as he tenses to leap back if anything happens.

Benji notices the slight fake tone on Orianne's laugh, and realizes he must have stroke a chord, especially with the past tense she uses to talk about her father. "Oh, I didn't know you come from Frostfall. I think I never really experienced that level of cold," he says, trying to change the subject in a graceful manner.
He keeps walking forward right behind Maha, his eyes focused on the path ahead.

As you approach the glint, Robin, you quickly notice a small clump of some warm yellow material, mostly still embedded in the wall.
Benji & Orianne
When the two of you make your uncomfortable way into the tunnel, hunching over, you quickly pick up slight rustling noises deeper down the path. After a few minutes of crouch walking, you spot a small group of cylindrical Pokémon, poking out of the ground, some of which with small tufts of hair growing out of their heads, but most lacking any such features. They quickly notice you coming, but don't seem to react just yet.

Robin hums to herself as she looks at the chuck of whatever-it-is. To the unwary, it might seem like some sort of precious metal or material, sitting out there in the open... which is exactly what's setting off her paranoia. Sure, it may not exactly be in the middle of the street, but that doesn't make this feel any less like a trap.
She backs off a couple of steps, out of any possible area of effect, before turning and calling back, "Well, some kinda metal, I'm sure you'll be shocked to learn. Reckon one of our new friends could come and give their thoughts?" She looks at Vehemence with a self-deprecating shrug. "I know, I know, I can't even tell what metal's what at a glance." She puts her nose up and adopts a mockery of a posh accent as she finishes, "What do they teach us in school these days?"

Vehemence looks over at Robin and the object she's pointing at, rolls her eyes slightly and walks over. She looks the small pebble over for a moment before shrugging, flexing her muscles, a metallic sheen suddenly covering her fur for a moment, and striking at the stone wall surrounding the object, quickly digging out the small object, which falls harmlessly out of the stone and on the ground. The Drilbur stretches her claw in a presenting fashion, before walking back to Vess.

Vess gives her newly acquired mon a nod of approval. "So, what is it?" She kneels down to get a closer look, narrowing her eyes. "Looks... like gold. Real gold. Not the fake stuff."

Upon the appearance of the new pokemon, Ori pulls the pokedex from it's hip case and scans the target. She held a hand up to signal to wait. The others can see that Sapphire is peering intently back at the girl, her tail twitching slightly and her legs curled up under her body like a gathered spring. She was ready to pounce at a moment's notice!

Robin chuckles. "Well, if fake gold could be told from a glance, it wouldn't be a very good fake, would it? Still, might be worth asking about. Who knows, we might have found ourselves a nice bit of start-up capital, huh?"

The Diglett's don't seem to react too much to Orianne scanning them, and for now seem content to just wait and see how the two of you are going to act.
On the Diglett, your Pokédex reads:
Diglett, the Mole Pokémon. This Pokémon spends its entire life buried in the ground. Because of its dark habitat, it dislikes bright sunlight.
On the Alolan Diglett, your Pokédex reads:
Diglett, Steel Wool variant. This variant of Diglett's occur in particular in areas with soil rich in metals. The small strands of hair on their head are made of metal.
Robin, Jean-Marie, Vess
Nugget of gold pocketed and new friends made, the three of you decide to leave the side tunnel and continue your exploration of the mines. After a few minutes of walking, you come across another small side tunnel. Although it is on the map, it isn't lit at all, and as you look into the side tunnel, it quickly grows dark as the tunnel winds away from the main path.

Benji listens to Orianne's pokédex while peeking over her shoulder. "Oh, a variant species! I've heard of those before, but never seen one." He looks at the digletts with the strange hair curiously.
"Hey, there!" he salutes the wild pokémon with a smile. "What are you guys up to here?" he asks, crouching to be on their level.

The Diglett seem to calm down slightly as Benji approaches, even if they still seem a bit wary. Orianne, meanwhile, seems to merely confuse them, as the two Alolan Diglett just stare at her, unsure of how to react.
Jean-Marie, Robin, Vess
Robin confidently starts walking into the dark tunnel, casually walking around the bend... only to painfully smack her head into the wall as the tunnel seems to curve once more. Darkness, it seems, cares little for bravado and confidence.

Robin bounces off the wall, falling onto his rump before pulling his pack around his body and getting out his flashlight.
Turning it on, he smiles up at the others with a comical shrug, rubbing at her forehead and playing up the injury a little in jest. "See, nothing to fear except ourselves!"
That done, he hops to his feet again and points the flashlight's beam down the tunnels, so he can see where he's going this time.

Benji looks sideways at Orianne and then at the apparent lack of limbs in the digglets. How did they groom themselves at all? He then shakes his head as if trying to get rid of the thought before addressing the pokémon again.
"Hah, sorry, we didn't mean to interrupt you," he says, placing a hand on Maha's head. "We are looking for no trouble. Are these tunnels yours? They look really well made..." he says, slowly walking forward in a very non-threatening way. "Do they go somewhere? Do you mind if we keep exploring?"
