"Not at all!" Thel says. "It, uh, it definitely isn't going to be as good as theirs, though. This has mainly been through trying things out, and what feels right. And a little bit of hoping that things go okay," he laughs. "I've been scared to try and figure out the thing where you put food inside the box-thing. At least when it's on top, I can see if... it's going to bubble over, and taste it. And adjust the fire if I need. Putting it inside is just... hope for the best? Also, I can't exactly bring a box out of the city. Would probably be good to learn, though, for settling down after travelling."
It's a comforting pastime, and gives him a feeling of controlling his own destiny. Food really is a symbol of that for a Salandit.

"Box ..?". The girl tilted her head, confused at first. "Oh! You mean an oven? It has these neat spinny things that tell it what temperature to be inside, then you look at your food through a window while it gets hot, and when it looks good you can take it out and eat it.". She nodded safely, folding her hands in her lap as she moved to watch Thel cook away.
"The powders you keep using, are they magic?"

"Oh, is that what it's called?" he asks. "I just don't know how hot something should be, and for how long it should be in there. I tried it once. ...burned my hand a bit, before Nurse Joy showed me that there was hand protection. It didn't turn out well. Took it out once, and it wasn't cooked at all inside. Put it back in. Burnt more than my fire would have. ...I don't really like the burned taste anymore, either. At least on top I can taste, and feel when things are almost done."
"I don't think so. Some seem like plants, and others are rocks. I can't tell with some, though. But they make things taste different." Thel considers. "So maybe they are magic, I don't know. I... don't really know much about magic. Except that it apparently hurt, and to keep away from it if you saw it. Though, if they were magic," he grumbles, "I would think they'd be easier to use. Sometimes it seems like you can never get the right amount. One pinch makes it too bland, and then two pinches makes it too overpowering, or things like that. They're some of the best parts of food, but rather annoying to get right. You have to keep tasting, and hoping for the best..."

Muku tilts her head a little bit, defensively placing her body to the side. Her fingers licked up the edges of her thumb, her body tense. "Should... Should I hit it maybe? I don't know what to do with Fighting Types except for fight them."Intuition: 7!

"Is there less than a pinch? Like a half a pinch? That seems like kind of an imprecise system. What if you have really big hands? Happy's pinches are probably the biggest in the world, he would make a terrible cook. Or maybe a really good one. I guess it would depend on the spice.". The girl mused playfully as Thel finished cooking and served her a portion. Blowing on it lightly, she took a little bite and nodded.
"This is really good... What is it called?"
"Keldeo, the Colt Pokemon. When it is resolute, its body fills with power and it becomes swifter. Its jumps are then too fast to follow." Terra's Pokedex announces.
The Gallade steps in a bit closer to the trio with a sly smile, folding a hand against his chest. "Allow me to explain for you.". He offers without any movement of his mouth, just a faint glowing in those red eyes. The words carry with them the impressions of genuineness and unfaltering honesty, as well as bemusement, humbled pride, and a strong sense of justice.
"These four paragons have chosen from their number to engage you in a duel of skill. Keldeo will represent them on this occasion. If you do not have a weapon of choice one will be provided for you, with the power of its Secret Sword."

The bird girl's eyes widen as she leans back to stare at the Gallade in awe. She thought the resemblance with Em was uncanny, but this was something else. It was stronger and somehow, more trustworthy. Which, wasn't to say that Em WASN'T untrustworthy, it just felt like this guy was filled with fight and determination where Em was just filled with a lot of good vibes. She liked violence better, so this sounded good to her.
"I've got a Pokémon that's shaped like a sword. Does that count?" She asks, brandishing Talon's Pokéball before her.

"...I have no idea," Thel admits. "It's just... vegetables and sauce and spices and stuff all stirred together and cooked. Not too hard. Which is good on this small thing. I normally would have added meat, too, but, uh, I didn't know if that was something you'd be okay with. I know you had a much closer connection to other living creatures, and, as far as I know, at least," he winks, "weren't a hunter... so didn't want to presume for you. I like meat, given that it's what I had all my life... but I know not all Pokémon were like that."
"And... I have no idea about the spices. I guess it depends on how much of something you can stomach? I'm sure humans have come up with something better for cooking, given how amazing so much of their food is. I just... have to learn it. I'll make sure to let you know if I figure the secret out, though," he laughs.
He sets out enough food for his Pokémon, and Em's. It's maybe a little early for dinner for them, but he wants everyone to eat and be merry before the sunset proper, so he can spend the actual most magical time alone with Em. Hope's already out and able to eat, but he gives Bliss first choice of the two similarly sized portions - and keeps an eye on seeing if he needs to recall her if she gets antsy about Em again. Serenity and Patience are next (the spider getting a much smaller portion), and hopefully nothing devolves.

That didn't really give her much information to work with at the moment. However it was an interesting description. Eyes lifting back up to watch the Keldeo.
The voice produced with no movement startled Terra, she stepped back before realizing where it was originating from. Her sight now focusing on the Gallade intensely. Body still tense at the surprise for the time being.
"I don't... have a weapon," she states showing she only had her fists as an offense. "A duel of skill?" she follows up curious about what exactly the four had in mind for it.

"I'll eat meat, but reverence has to be paid in catching it. It is a very personal affair, taking a life and making it a part of yours." Em explained between small bites of her curried vegetables, sitting against Thel as they watched the sun sink against the horizon together. "Dad did most of the hunting, I just paid respects to the being that had passed to sustain us. Aura connects all living things, and it does not judge living needs, only truths." A brief, but strong wind ripples overhead. Thel may make a perception check.
Terra feels something stone hard, and weighty fill her palm, as Keldeo's horn brightens and grows. Lifting the item into view, it seems to be a slightly curved blade made of a greenish-tan stone. It resembles a Larvitar horn in some respects, and there is immediate connection with it. Keldeo widens its stance, and gives a gleeful cry.

"I... I can't say that I know what you're talking about, with 'aura' and stuff, but... I've definitely felt a difference between now and before," he says. "Beginning with Hope. A greater appreciation for what has been given. Don't take wantonly, just what is needed. Don't be arrogant about it, given how much higher humans feel like they are than everything else."
"I don't know if I could ever fully give up meat, but I have attempting to eat less of it, because I can now. Eat plants, that is. It's the circle of life, but that doesn't mean I have to revel in it. It's how I fully expected to meet my end one day, after all..." There's no fear in his voice, no worry, just statement of a fact. The colours of the sky really do make it look like another world, unlike anything else in the day. It's magical. Perception: 6

For the umpteenth time today, Muku cracked open Talon's Pokéball. It's familiar tassel snaked up her right arm alongside the equally familiar vague sense of nausea and dizziness. She shakes it off, shaking her arms and taking a fighting pose. Her eyes lit ablaze with fire. "Ok. I'm ready ready. Talon's ready. Keep an eye on Muku's back, and I'll try to knock him down with a clean strike. Me, Talon. We've been working on this! For about a day! It'll be fine! We've got this! Get ready, we're coming! We've got ready! Get this! Coming ready! Kiyiyiyiyiyaaaaaaah!"

The faintest distortion in space catches the corner of Thel's eye. Em doesn't seem to notice, transfixed in the quiet of the sunset and the pre-dusk shift in colors. The girl rubs the bridge of her nose as she considers how to explain it to him. "Every Pokemon, and every human, all share a similar essence, a cloud of color that represents feelings, desires, goals, truths of their heart. It is... it's like a soul, laid bare. The essence of a person on display. Some Pokemon can see, and communicate with their Aura. Dad was like that. He was... never the type to let anyone flounder or struggle, no matter how dense they were. Speaking with Aura is normally a very intimate and private affair, but he was really open with it."
The Keldeo strikes, but Terra manages to hold the strike at bay, and Muku returns the blow in kind, grazing the Pokemon. (1/5)

At the new found weight within her grasp, she lifts it up to gaze at. A pause followed before she tightens her gripe seeing the similarities between the sword and the horn from her previous form. It was so familiar! It felt natural to hold.
"I can handle that. As long as you're confident," she replies with a nod and taking a some sort of stance. Nothing like a trained sword user, but there was certainty in her form. Ready to block incoming attacks from the pokemon.

Hmm... is there something there? His attention wanders a little bit, as it digs at him.
"That's something that would have terrified me before," he replies, "knowing that there was... an essence like that. Because I had to hide, to present myself as what was wanted to be seen, just to make sure I made it further. So I'd be worried that it would show."
"But now? Now I don't have to hide. I know who I am, and I'm proud of it. I don't know where I'm going, but... that doesn't matter. I'll find it." He squeezes her hand. "Your father sounds kind. I never knew mine. Or who my mother was. Eggs get clustered. Parents aren't important. Only the hierarchy..."
There's another glint. "Do you see anything out there?" he asks, looking around. "I thought I saw something..."

"There are two spots where the sunlight bends, and sometimes they move... there, She points to a point in the open air. "And there." To a second. "Maybe it's just one of those rare sunset things?" She comments, though there is the faintest hint of nervousness in her voice. It would be dark soon, and they were still pretty close to Ecruteak. What if it was ghosts?
As if in answer to the palpable rise in nervousness, and the slight shift away from the romantic mood, a pair of rounded bodies with sleek angular heads, similar wings, and short forearms faded into view from seemingly nothing. One red, one blue. They hovered slowly in place, very close to each other, cooed and cried soothingly, strafe-flying in a lazy circle around Thel and Em.

He's at first relieved that he's not the only one seeing things... and then nervous, because he doesn't know what they are, and Em seems nervous...
"Whoaaa…" he breathes, squeezing tighter to Em. "Well... they're kinda sunset colours. Maybe the sun heard us, and is saying thank you. They're pretty. And they... well, they seem friendly. If they wanted to hurt us, I'm sure they would have done it while we couldn't see them." He hopes, at least. He remembers the Litwick, and shivers a bit.
He gives a little wave to the Pokémon, and calls out, seeing how they react. "Hi there... sorry, are we in your home and bothering you? We just wanted to watch the sunset over there."

The pair of spritely dragons move out of the way of the sunset, orienting alongside Thel and Em. Holding hands, they float, rubbing cheeks with each other. Happy, pleasant cries, bright-eyed expressions with playful smiles are most of the response Thel gets. The pair seem easily distracted over anything that isn't their partner. There is a constant sense of attentiveness and caring, as though they were deeply pair-bonded. "I guess it's a double date now." Em whispers softly, watching the antics of the two Pokemon.

"Yeah. I'm not complaining, though," he whispers back, leaning into her. "I'm always happy to be around those that're happy. And they're not mad at us, so, I think we're good. It's nice." He's a lot more relaxed now that it seems like the two just wanted to enjoy themselves as well. And didn't seem liable to want to eat their soul or anything.
Speaking of eating... he gets the dish of the leftovers from dinner, and holds it out to them, offering. "Want any, you two?" he asks, quietly, not pushing if they don't respond. "Feel free."
This is nice. It may not have been quite alone time with Em… but as far as unexpected things happening go, this is a pretty good one.

Two triangular heads lean in to sniff at the plate of vegetables, the red dragon taking the dish in hand, playfully bumping her mate until he sits, then proceeds to hand-feed the blue one, giggling all the while. When the portion is about half done, they trade places. There is no bashfulness about the process, nor the company.
When they have finished eating, they turn their backs to the humans and cast an inviting look over a shoulder, seeming to say 'come fly with us.'

The laughter is infectious, and Thel joins in, just enjoying the company of the newcomers as well as Em, holding close to her. He makes sure that she's still enjoying herself too, though. It would be selfish to do otherwise.
After the apparent invitation, Thel looks at Em. "They seem to want us to fly with them. Are you... are you comfortable with that? I don't want to do anything you don't want to." Flying. It's something that he never could have dreamed of doing. But that he was always jealous of every time there was an insect who winged away, or a bird that simply glided up the mountain instead of scaling over boulders.
If she's agreeable, he helps her up on the blue - the larger of the two, which seems safer - before attempting to climb aboard the red. If she isn't though, he just comforts her and doesn't push.
