Thel picks out a number of shapes moving about through the crystals, small ovoid Pokemon with long ears, bluish-gray bodies studded with glittering stones, and beautiful blue eyes float about, admiring their reflections in the crystals and a small pool of water at the center of the cavern. Em seems fixated on a larger, more earthbound Pokemon. It stands on three thick legs, and has orange crystals jutting from its body in many places. It has what look as though they might be eyes? Yellow ringed holes in its stony body, to one side.
Em's hand gently rubs a spot towards the top of her head. "The bright rocks in that one remind me of my horn..." There's a melancholy joy about the statement, as the Pokemon drinks from standing water, then shuffles a short distance to squat in a sunbeam.

"Ohhh, they're pretty," he notes, looking at the floating Pokémon. Lucky them, getting to float around. That would sure make getting up the mountain earlier. "I can see why they admire themselves. Make sure to not disturb them, though, Hope."
"Do you... do you want to see if it'll be your friend?" Thel asks, seeing Em look wistfully at the other one. "I have some snacks that you could try and see if it wants. Food's always a good way to start off a conversation. If it's not something that you feel would make you sad every time you were around it, that is. I don't like seeing you sad." He squeezes her hand gently. "Or we could see about one of the floating ones, see if any might be happy to tag along. ...though I could understand them not wanting to leave this place."

Nearly as soon as Thel turns away, Hope is flitting off to do the exact opposite of what she was instructed. They were pretty and admiring themselves, she wanted to admire them too. Em considers the bulky stone creature for a moment. "It does seem like it has a very even temperament. I've never seen a rock Pokemon drink water before either... though... I didn't see many rock Pokemon in the forest either." She admitted. "I could try? How would you do it?"

He thinks for a moment. He really hasn't had much actual experience with this exact situation. "I guess I'd just sit down near it, to show that I'm not a threat. Calmly and quietly speak to it. If it seems like it doesn't want to talk to you... then just let it be. Give food if it seems willing, if not... just leave the food and see if it approaches."
He gets a trio of small snacks from his bag - a salty, a sweet, and a spicy - and hands them to Em. "Not quite every taste in there, but there should be something for anyone. I might try the salt, though. That looks like rocks. I'll just stay and watch, but Hope and I will-" he looks for Hope, confused before he sees her back by the glitteries. He sighs before laughing. "Okay, I and my team will be behind you to support if anything goes wrong." He looks over at Hope. "Okay, you can admire them, but if any of them get annoyed by you, make sure to stop doing that, okay? This is their home, we're not meant to be here."

Hope physically has a seat on one of the Carbink right between its ears, and smiles cheerfully at Thel. The Pokemon under it seems to not notice or not care, it is hard to tell at this distance.
Em moves quietly up towards the Pokemon at Thel's instruction, snacks in hand. "E-excuse me?". She speaks to the Boldore as she has a seat a few feet from it. There is a slight shift in its posture, and it slowly turns in a different direction. "O...over here?". Several vocal attempts are made, until to the pair's best understanding it is facing her. It does not move from the sunbeam.
"Thel... I don't think it has a mouth? How does it eat?". Em asked with concern.

He has a little bit of a giggle at Hope's antics. Apparently the Pokémon are fine with her, so... let them have their fun, he guesses.
"I... I don't know," Thel says to Em, laughing nervously. "I barely even know how humans work." For some reason, he finds this enormously funny, and just breaks out in a sustained nervous chuckle, before it dies down.
"...I don't know why I found that funny. It wasn't really helpful." He thinks. "Maybe... try moving a little closer, talking to it. If it moves away, that's probably a bad sign. But if it lets you get close enough to touch, that's probably good? I assume? I don't know. I don't know how rocks think..."

Scooting a little closer to it, an echoing sound resembling a heavy rumbling issues from the Pokemon, but still it didn't move. Em held one of the snacks at eye level, it didn't seem to register. Lower, the same. She seems a little disappointed at first. "Are you not hungry?"
It perks up, becoming more animate. "Hungry?". She asked again, to which the stone tilted forward against her. "Oh... It's really warm... And it smells like... I'm not sure... It's an earthy smell. Really pleasant."

"Oh, those are always the best kinds of rocks," Thel agrees. "Nice and warm... lying in the sun, you get heat from both directions. It's bliss. Was always such a treat to have a moment to rest on one."
"Okay, so… rocks don't eat food, but they eat?" What do they eat then? He's very confused. "Uh... do you eat rocks?" he asks it. "Like... loose rocks or something? Because I guess if we're made of meat and eat meat... oh, but, wait, we also eat plants, and we're not made of plants... I keep forgetting I don't have to just eat meat..."

Em goes to reach for the salty snack again but finds it missing. Confused, she looks around where she is kneeling, and finds no sign of it. The Boldore suspiciously stops its affections and hunkers back down with a distinct squish. It seems very content.
"I... It just sat on your snack Thel?". Em comments a mixed of amused and embarrassed, her laughter carrying and echoing through he cavern, high spirited and whimsical.

"If that's what makes it happy, I guess," Thel says, joining in on the laughter. It really does make everything brighter. "It can feel free to have it. Not what I'd do, but... hey, I'm not a rock."
He rummages through his pack, getting into his seasonings, and putting some salt in his cupped hand. "I wonder if it is the salt." Holding out his hand towards it, he dumps the small pile on the ground next to it, brushing the last of the crystals off.

The Boldore rakes the crystals along its front against the pile of seasonings, scraping it and bits of rock up under itself before again settling in place with a crunch. It seems content, and makes another rumbly noise as Em strokes the space above its 'eyes'. "It really seems to like that sunbeam... I wonder why it doesn't go outside? Though... I guess the crystals on it wouldn't be as bright if they weren't in an enclosed space. That kind of makes sense."

"Yep," Thel says, laughing, "Guess it likes salt. Good thing to keep in mind. Also, in town, you could probably ask people how to care for it."
"It's probably warmer in the night in here," Thel comments. "That's why we all huddled in a den, instead of outside. Beside, if it eats rocks, maybe it's here hoping for crystals to drop off to eat. They look prettier than regular rocks, so maybe they taste better, too. I don't know. I'd have to ask Terra." He laughs.

"Hey there... uh... do you mind if I call you 'Thoughtful'? You seem really content to settle and consider things... I bet you'd get along really well with Happy, but he can be really intense, and I don't want to interrupt your enjoying this sunbeam." More idle, pleasant rumblings, and it lightly pushes against Em, nudging the slight girl over as she giggles helplessly. The noise seems to make it more curious then anything, and it finally does scuttle out of the light, slowly circling her. "Would you like to come with me?" She can't seem to glean its answer from the very steady body language, and constant low noise.
(Thel can make an Intuition, over 10 and it is clear it is agreeable.)

"I don't speak fluent rock," Thel says, giggling at the antics, "but... yeah, I think it's happy to come along with you. It just... feels that way. No hostile actions, curiosity, leaving its comfort area for you..."

After a few engaging moments of back and forth with the large Rock Pokemon, Em eventually does capture it, holding it close to her chest. "Thank you Thel... this really means a lot. Thoughtful will remind me of home, and what it meant to take my time and be true to the things my heart desired. That was really fun... Maybe sometime down the road I'll feel comfortable enough to go on my own adventures to find friends. There is so much about other types of Pokemon that I never knew before, back when I understood feelings but not the whys of anything..."

"Anytime," he replies. "My friends mean a lot to me. Without Hope or Serenity, I never would have made it this far. It's only right that you have the same opportunity, to find those that make you happy, and to bond with them. I still don't know how I feel about the need to battle... but everything else, it's a joy."
He walks over towards Hope, grinning. "Okay, you little troublemaker, let's get back to climbing, and leave the nice rocks alone. We can probably visit them on the way back, though. But we'd like to catch the sunset? Okay, let's go."

Giving Thel a little tap on the nose and a sly smile, Hope led the way along a hard to find trail along the inside of the cave itself, leading up to one of the higher openings in the mountainside. Before too long, the pair and their impish guide had settled high above the manicured paths and kempt edges of forests. Ecruteak was clearly visible, far below, and to the north of the mountains was an endless body of water, off into the distance, all the way to the horizon.
Em quietly took it all in, how big the world was, standing on the windswept mountain top and admiring the falling angle of the sun. It would set behind the mountains to the far west of Johto. "I wonder where it goes at night..." She murmurs softly. "If it gets lonely while it is dark out..."

It truly is impressive. Even though he'd lived on a mountain, he was never able to stop and appreciate the sights like this. It would always have been with the looming worry of punishment for stopping to look. But now? It's magical. Free, and with those who he cares for and care for him back.
"I imagine that it sleeps," Thel says. "To get ready for brightening up another day. It has such an important job, after all. And I think that it's kind, letting the stars and the moon have their turn visiting others. It must care about making others happy too. ...or maybe it visits people in their sleep, brightening up their dreams. I don't think we'll ever know. But we can just let it know that it's appreciated." They're things that he's never thought about before. But they make sense. "Thank you, sun. For everything."
"Before it starts painting the sky, I'll just start dinner, so we can have that while watching its last gift of the day, okay?" He squeezes her hand, before he starts pulling out his small stove and the food that they'd bought earlier.

"Thank you Sun! Do you mind if I watch you cook Thel?" Em sat cross-legged not far from where the boy was setting things up for their meal together, faced at such an angle that she could admire him and the slow descent of the celestial body they had done so much to pay homage to that day. "I'm really interested how the girls at work do it, but I can't make sense of how big the fire has to be."

The four's conversation resulted in Terra raising an eyebrow, what did these pokemon want? The other fighting types didn't seem as stressed however. So maybe it wasn't a bad thing that they were here? The girl stood her ground as the red maned one approached, even as Muku put distance between them. This was a lot of socialization, especially for a Larvitar. However she had been put in a better mood from the rock hitting and getting prizes. So she watched the pokemon with a sharp gaze when it spoke. "I have no idea what this is," she admits not knowing the species. A hand pulls out her pokedex and points it at the pokemon. "You and me both, about meeting people." She adds in a comment. But she'd try. Eyes staring at the excited pokemon, the uncomfortable confusion beginning to show as she gave a somewhat forced smile. "Hi?" she replies, the awkwardness being heard in her tone. Intuition Roll: 3
