Sigma is injured, but not too badly; Mayu elects to press on after giving her a short rest and some refreshments (Soda Pop used).

A bit further in, Mayu encounters some not-so-friendly Ghosts. Shuppet, to be specific.

Ow! That hurts a lot. Delta does not like fire, and the hexes aren't much fun either. He hunkers down and tries to tag one of them with a leeching seed, while Mayu sends a wave of ghostly energy at them.

Leech Seed vs #3 1d20 vs AC 4 On hit, the target is seeded; it loses a tick of HP at the beginning of each of its turns, and Delta gains HP equal to the amount lost. Lasts until the target faints, is returned to a Pokeball, or takes a breather. 1d20·2d6+26·1d20

The floating specters are just nimble enough to avoid both attacks. #3 also blasts Quilladin in the face with an empowered Hex while the other two send a wisp of ghostly flames towards Mayu. Delta manages to sidestep the last hex. Fine then, he'll just have to try biting. Mayu tries to freeze the one he's fighting to make it easier on him.

Delta hunkers down to endure the attacks, and just barely manages to stay on his feet. He lashes out with a bristly fist, hoping to land one last hit before succumbing to his lingering burns. Behind, Mayu takes a step back and blasts the Shuppet in front of her with ice before releasing Rho to try to keep the enemies off her.

#1 goes down quickly to Rho's dark-typed swat though #2 manages to hold on after being struck by Mayu. It gets in close to at least try to hurt the thing a bit more before being taken down.

Mayu goes back to using ice, in a desperate attempt to soothe the pain from her burns before she passes out. Rho, on the other hand, gets to doing what Rho does best: licking!

The lick proves unnecessary, as the Shuppet had very little stamina left to continue the fight. Mayu earns 87 Poke XP.

Oh good. Mayu heads back towards Lavender Town to rest; however, as most of her Pokemon are fine, she decides to see if there are any local trainers up for a match while she recuperates.

Lavender Town, despite being a primary stop for those following the "traditional" Gym Challenge path, is nearly always devoid of trainers. Every few weeks, there will be an influx of trainers fresh from the hell that is Rock Tunnel. They usually don't stick around long since there's nothing to really do in the town; which is just how the older people who "retire" to Lavender Town prefer it. Occasionally, however, a local Channeler or Medium will seek to do battle against another person. Alas, today is not one of those days.

That's inconvenient, but she can't really complain. Mayu takes the afternoon off to convalesce; come evening, she heads back towards Rock Tunnel.

Mayu, by contrast, is quite satisfied with having stumbled across a pack of rare Pokemon. Epsilon should do a fine job of thinning their numbers.

The first Larvitar goes down instantly to the doubly effective attack. Of the remaining two, one churns up some loose dirt and sand, creating a localized sandstorm. The other rushes in close to take a bite out of the fish.
