"Because you were." Mayu can't quite decide to be annoyed or not. "It seemed proper to return the favor."

"I see. Perhaps it was. In any event, my name is Ceana (KEH na), and I am merely here to offer you a cautionary warning. Do not stray far into the wilds of Route 25. The Fairy Queen does not like visitors." She blinks slowly and gently removes your hand from her face.

Mayu withdraws her hand and steps back to an ordinary, non-personal-space-invading distance. "I have never heard of a Fairy Queen. But that is an easy enough request to comply with; I have no particular business here."

Ceana merely offers a small smile. "You wouldn't have, but that is irrelevant. You have been warned and thus my task is complete." At that moment, the eerie feeling that has been present the entire time that Ceana has been in sight suddenly intensifies. Sensing something behind her, Mayu whips around to find... Unown. Six of them all connected together. It floats past you and over next to Ceana; the multiple, unblinking eyes are decidedly unnerving.

It's pretty hard to win a staring contest with a creature that has six eyes (or six creatures with one eye each?), but Mayu does her best.

The multi-Unown stares unblinkingly back. Do Unown even blink? Mayu isn't sure. Ceana's Espeon seems to be napping in her arms now.

Mayu decides she's done here. She turns back towards Route 24 and Cerulean, ignoring Ceana and her Unown.

Mayu encounters nothing else of note on her journey back to town.

Back in town, Mayu pays a quick visit to the Poke Center, then goes looking to see if she can find someone to battle.

Second badge now in hand, Mayu makes her way south to Saffron, and from there turns east towards Celadon City. She has a fair bit of spending money now; perhaps she'll see what Celadon's famous Department Store has to offer her.

The famous "Department Store" still exists, to be sure, but around it has sprung up an entire mall's worth of shopping locations; each catering to a different style: Trainers, Coordinators, and 'Civilians'. There's a store dedicated to every aspect of each. Clothing, accessories, 'Trainer Items' (battle-related stuff)...there's even a pharmacy that advertises carrying products for both humans and Pokemon! One could very easily get lost and overwhelmed by it all.

Interesting. Being both human and Pokemon, at least in part, Mayu decides to take a look at that pharmacy.

Naturally, to appropriately appeal to absolutely everyone in order to maximize sales and such, the staff of the pharmacy are quite friendly. That is not to say that they're sure what things will work for someone like Mayu, but as a Trainer, they will gladly sell her just about anything that they offer.
(their wares: vitamins for Pokemon, healing items, and then an actual pharmacy for humans that includes everything you expect it to)

Not as interesting as she'd expected... though in retrospect, Mayu isn't sure quite what that was. Oh well. She heads over to look at battle equipment and accessories.

Battle equipment! Type Boosters, Type Braces, Life Orbs even! Just about anything that a competitively-minded trainer (defined as 'anyone with sights set on the League') could desire. Perhaps Mayu is interested in these things, perhaps not. She does, however, notice that there is a sale on evolution stones just next door. Buy one get one free!

After some browsing, Mayu makes a single, expensive purchase and heads out west to see if there's anything interesting to be found on the nearer part of Route 16. Belated Route 7 treasure roll: bWO9ipID1d100
Rute 16 treasure roll: 1d100

Ah yes, the infamous Cycling Road. Thankfully, there is now a pedestrian path as well, so no need to keep non-bikers off the path. That is not to say, however, that there are not still "Bikers" hanging around. A few of them seem to take exception to Mayu's presence within visual range and accost her. They challenge her to a Double Battle with a full six Pokemon. They're not taking "no" for an answer. (Two trainers on their side using three Pokemon each; one from each Trainer. Mayu using two Pokemon at a time, up to her maximum of six.)

After the fight with the bikers, Mayu heads back to Celadon's Pokemon center; she's in absolutely no shape to go anywhere with her Pokemon like this. And... it's getting late, and her Pokemon have been through two hard fights already. Time to retire for the evening.
The next day, she rises early, puts her Pokemon (and herself) through their morning regimen, and then... hm. After losing handily to Aleisandra when she tried challenging her right after arriving, Mayu is inclined to train a little more before she visits the Celadon Gym. Viridian Forest and Mt Moon were helpful, there; maybe there's someplace similar near Celadon she can visit? She inquires at the desk of the Pokemon Center if there are any local landmarks or attractions she ought to visit while she's here?

Well, there is the ancient castle on the outskirts of town. History claims it was the seat of power for the entire region in ages past. You can go see it, but nobody has been allowed inside ever since some dumb kids got lost in there and disappeared.

That would be interesting if she were actually allowed inside. As it stands, Mayu is not very tempted to go look at an old castle from a distance. Time to challenge the local trainers after all, seems like. Timeskip battles!
