"Sapphire Edelsteen. I haven't settled on a branch yet, but I'll likely end up in Grass or Poison. What's Ghost like? That's the new one headed by Lady Dracul, right?"

"It's rather sparse for now it seems. They have attracted wild ghosts that float around on their own, but other than that there's not a lot there. Mostly Lady Dracul runs alongside my own sensibilities."

Rather than interrupt Stephanie and Sapphire's conversation, Emil turns toward Ruby. "You settle on a Branch yet, Ruby? I know there's still plenty of time left - where'd you head after you left Bug Branch?"

"Oh, I went to the Fighters Branch! I learned how to do something really cool! Check this out." Ruby takes a deep breath, and concentrates...to no avail. Seems she a bit too keyed up to calm herself down. "Awwwwwww...It worked just fine yesterday..."

Sapphire nods. "That makes sense. I don't think I really hit it off with either of the leaders I met. I quite liked the Fighting Branch leader, actually, but her branch doesn't support my interests very well at all."

Stephanie just nods along.
"Outside of Psychic and Ghost I'm afraid I don't have a suggestion for you, although I'll admit I know little about you and your sister so suggestions are light on both ends. All I really can say is that you either pick one that gels with you, or pick one that doesn't and bend it to your whim. Slight psychological tricks used constantly can turn the tide of everyone in said branch to your whim, if used correctly."

"Why not both?" Freya was suddenly back in her seat with a few glasses of juice. Who knows how long she had been sitting there. "Now then, lets go over what you two might have missed." Freya proceeds to ramble on like she was reading off a memorized script about what she just got done talking about a few minutes ago.

Emil looks a little bemused by Ruby's attempt at a cool trick. He's not sure what it's meant to be. "So are you thinkin' about going for Fighting, then? Could see Ground, too, maybe - I know you got Rex there. I dunno what Ground Branch is like, though."
Aaaand there's Freya. Emil sighs quietly. "What's got you interested in breedin' Pokémon all of a sudden, Miz Freya?"

Freya finds a stopping point to acknowledge Emil. "Oh, the breeding? It was something that just came to me yesterday. I just thought of how sweet it would be to help with guild raising baby pokemon in their enclosure. It also is delightful to just be with the wee ones isn't it!?" She giggles at the thought, and goes back to reading out her morning sermon again.

Sapphire waits patiently for a stopping point... and waits... and finally gives up and interrupts when Freya pauses to draw breath. "Begging your pardon, Sister Freya, but I actually did hear your sermon." Not that she'd listened to more than a few words, but she was in the same room while the priestess was spouting her nonsense, which she feels is quite enough. "Ruby missed it, but I'm sure she'd be happy to catch up with you later," she goes on, ruthlessly throwing her sister to the wolves. Or possibly throwing Freya to the wolves. Both? Hopefully, it'll keep the pair of them occupied and out of her hair for a while. "I was hoping to ask you all: what are your plans, now that you're formally entered into the Guild? I admit, I don't have much notion what the day-to-day life of an adventurer is supposed to look like."

"I joined the guild for research opportunites. Since 'some' institutions are a tad more touchy than I'd like about mere ideas being thrown out, I came here knowing I'd at least have access to resources, pokemon, and at least 'some' knowledge. And test subjects. Speaking of, do any of you oppose testing of my cooking on a regular basis?"

Freya waves her off. "Oh it's fine. Best get through it now, because I have tomorrow's already to go." She also puts her notes down to answer Sapphire's question. "Oh. My plans remain unchanged. Spreading the gospel of our lord Xerneas has always been number one priority. I now have more resources, and people to spread the message even further."

Emil shrugs his shoulders a little. "'Fraid I didn't really have much more plan than you. I just joined for the experience mostly, 'n maybe to get out of Pewter Village for a little while. Expand my horizons, all that stuff. I've heard my mom's stories about being at the Guild, and Hero Clay's, but Bug Branch seems like it doesn't demand as much of its members' time as Grass or Fighting. I guess I'm just gonna look at the board of jobs and see what needs doin'."
He hesitates for a moment. "I've got an... unusual talent, and I was hopin' maybe someone at the Guild might help me get better at it, too. I dunno how to really go about askin', though."

Stephanie raises an eyebrow at Emil's last bit.
"And what would that be?"

"It's sorta magic, I guess? Best way's probably to show you." Emil crosses his arms over his chest, and clicks his tongue. At least, it's probably his tongue? The noise he makes is like a crab Pokémon's pincers snapping shut.
A hard shell forms across his forearms, like the bracers from a suit of armor made out of orange chitin. He looks up, a little embarrassed. "Kinda feels like I'm showing off but I dunno if it would make any sense explaining it. I've got a... connection with Bug-types, and it goes deeper than just not being scared of them."

She taps her chin a few times.
"Well no wonder you felt nervous coming to the city and all the people. Clearly your 'inner insect' is telling you to worry about lots of people and being away from foliage."
She takes out her note pad.
"I'll make a note that your diet for the foods I'll make should be more vegitation based rather than anything else."

Ruby, who had been steadily dozing off, suddenly snaps back to attention. "Huh?! I'm awake!" She says, before yawning.

"I think it's less my 'inner insect' and more that I jus' don't spend that much time around big groups of people." Emil shakes his head. "Pewter's pretty small, and I spent a lot of time out in the woods. Meditating and stuff. Being around bugs helped me get used to using these powers. I hear the leader of Fire Branch can throw fire around, it's kinda like that."
Emil's little trick with the exoskeleton explains a weird thing about his interaction with Ruby yesterday... if she bothered to notice his shoulders suddenly getting harder when she grabbed him by them.

"Oh no...They already got you! I *told* you they turned people into Bug-Human hybrids, Emi! Why didn't you listen to me!" Ruby says, grabbing his shoulders and shaking them.

"Manners, Ruby!" Sapphire snaps automatically. She reaches out to touch Emil's armored forearm curiously, then colors as she realizes (too late) what she's doing. "I'm sorry, I should have asked first. That's really interesting, though. It's something you can do naturally? Nobody taught you how?"
