Sapphire rolls her eyes. "Grass, obviously. I've only been halfway apprenticed to an apothecary for about three years now. A lot of Grass-types can produce useful herbs or powders. Poison would be useful too, but that's most commonly paired with Grass anyway. I assume based on your phrasing that you're going to go looking at the Fire-types?"

Ah, looks like she only got away from 'one' of the ladies. At least this one was more quiet but if she put more of that dust on her, she dream mist her instantly. And then maybe get destiny to whisper thoughts of Yveltal into her head. That'd be fun to observe. It's a little malicious, but nothing can get in the way of experimentation!
"I care not about 'type', rather looking for something that sleeps well. For a willing repeat experimentation. Or something that puts others to sleep, but I have that already in Destiny here. Best to even things out."

"As expected of my Sapphy~ You know me so well~" Ruby says, resuming her hugging.

Emil looks between the areas. "Well, I'm probably gonna check the Grass-type area first. Figure I'll work my way up to water bugs if I don't find somethin' interesting in there."
Oh, and... there's Ruby again. Hugging somebody... Y'know, when Ruby said she was looking for her little sister I expected somebody littler than that. Maybe he can just sneak past into the Grass area without Ruby noticing...

Ruby spots Emil. "Oh! Perfect timing, Emil! Come over here and meet my little sister!" Ruby says, temporarily detaching herself from Sapphire to stride over and grab the back collar of Emil's shirt and drag him over to where Sapphire is.

"Aah!" So much for sneaking. Emil finds himself dragged over by the collar of his coat, and Sapphire will find herself being smiled up at sheepishly by a lanky-looking orange-haired boy with his heels dragging on the street, while an irate Dwebble scuttles after them to poke at Ruby's ankles. "Uh, hi. I'm Emil. Guess you must be Ruby's sister."

"Hmmm?" Ruby says, as the poking gets her attention. "Oh my! Aren't you quite the adorable one!" She says, crouching down for a better look. Putting an elbow on her knee and a hand on her cheek, she gazes lovingly at the Dwebble. "Trying to protect your trainer? Don't worry, I won't hurt him."

Tulip makes a high-pitched chittering noise and waves her claws at Ruby, but since Ruby no longer has Emil by the collar he pulls himself to his feet and waves her off. "Over here, Tulip. It's okay."
He rubs the back of his neck. "Y'know, you didn't have to drag me over. I'd'a come if you'd just said something." Getting manhandled by a shorter girl is a little embarrassing, but it's not like Emil has ever been incredibly assertive with people. He does smile a little. "Nice to know somebody else thinks she's cute though. Lotta people 'round where I'm from aren't keen on bugs. We get these big swarms in the fall when Zapdos comes through."

"How could anyone not find her cute? She's positively adorable." Ruby says with a giggle. Ruby stands up and looks around. "Well, anyways, what Type are you going for?"

Sapphire offers a brief curtsy. "It's nice to meet you, Emil. I'm Sapphire, Ruby's twin." Protesting she's only two minutes younger than Ruby, she has found, does not help convince people she's not the little sister. She's found ways around it. "I'm sorry about the manhandling. I've tried to get her to stop, but she's just exuberant like that."

Freya nods along, and smiles as she barely understands what Stephanie just said. "Ahh. My, how interesting." Her attention is soon dragged away by a small gathering of people, and pokemon. They gather around a large pond, and watch a little blue pokemon performing tricks. It's like a tiny sea lion who leaps out of the water doing acrobatics, and jumping on its own made bubbles. People and pokemon both clap, and cheer for the little performer. Freya enjoys the show as well, and while so many people are gathered around, she tries handing out pamphlets to little avail.
She sits by the pond with her hand on her cheek. "Hmmm...Some of these people don't understand how religion is a life fulfilling thing...*sigh*" As she contemplates what to do, the performing pokemon comes up to the bank in front of Freya. It smiles happily, and barks at her. "Aww. Well aren't you the talented one?" As if feeling Freya was feeling down, it performs some more stunts by hopping around on bubble balloons. Freya giggles, and applauds the further tricks. "Oohh! You are absolutely wonderful! You can even bring in quite an audience by yourself....Oh! Perhaps we can work together! You can help bring in observers, and then I have more people to easily preach to! *Gasp!*" "Bwark! Bwark!" The pokemon clapped its flippers together. Freya happily picked it up into her arms, and hugged it. "You're perfect! May we thank Xerneas for this wondrous meeting! I dub the...Seraphiel!" The Popplio claps, and barks again in agreement. Freya's tiny bug flies around it, and lands on its big red nose. "Gabriel, meet our newest follower!" Pink dust for everyone!

"Yeah, I... kinda noticed. 'S not your fault." So far Emil is deciding he likes Sapphire - she seems to be the most normal person he's met so far. Not that that's a high bar to clear when the second-most-normal felt it necessary to clarify that she wasn't poisoning him. "Nice to meet you, Sapphire."
He runs a hand through his hair with a sigh. "I figure I'm probably gonna go for the Grass-type area. My mom used to be part of the Grass Branch here. I'm mostly interested in Bug-types but I dunno what I'm gonna find yet." Ruby's gushing about how cute Tulip is makes him grin. "I know what you mean, though. How could anybody resist this face?"
Tulip's wide eyes swivel around for a moment, still regarding Ruby a little suspiciously, but she seems to be smiling now. Possibly she knows she's being admired.

"Anyways, I have a favor to ask of you, Emil." Ruby says. "See, Sapphy's also after a Grass-Type, but I'm going for a Fire Type...So would you go with her and look after for a bit? I know it's probably safe but I can't help but worry after...Nevermind, it's nothing. Just look after my little sister, won't you?" Ruby asks, before clamping her hands on his shoulders.
"Needless to say, if anything does happen to her, you'll have to answer to me, understand?" She says, her hair color temporarily turning from a bright red glowing that almost looks like its glowing to a deep crimson, accompanied by a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.
"And with that out of the way, I'll head over to the fire area to check out what they have! Toodles!" She says, her hair and expression returning to their former brightened state as she run over to check out the fire mons.

"Ruby! You can't just threaten..." Aaand she's already run off. Sapphire turns to Emil with a resigned look. "Sorry about that. I don't know why she gets so overprotective, she's the one always landing herself in trouble... Anyway. Shall we go? You don't have to look out for me, I'm sure it's safe enough in there, but I wouldn't mind the company."

Emil's eyes widen a little as Ruby clamps her hands on her shoulders and stares at him. If Ruby is paying attention, she may feel his shoulders mysteriously harden under her grip, as if he was suddenly wearing armor under his coat that wasn't there before. "I-I-uh... of-of course."
He staggers a little when she lets go and skips off, and adjusts his coat. If Sapphire is watching closely she may catch sight of something orange underneath, just for a moment, before it's gone. "Uh, yeah, of course. Sorry, I, uh... felt like I was staring down an angry Beedrill for a minute there."
He lets out a sigh and shakes his head. "Anyway. Let's get going. Wonder what we're gonna find."

Ruby as takes a walk through the fire area, she comes across a rather peculiar sight. A lone Litwick approaches a trainer to try introduce itself, but is passed over in favor of a Torchic. This happens a few times, with one pair of trainers outright ignoring it, walking away while talking about how annoying it was to raise a Litwick due to how fragile they tended to be early on.
Eventually, the Litwick spots Ruby and hops over to her, looking a bit hesitant due to the number of rejections it's gotten so far. In response, Ruby simply smiles. "Hope can be a fragile thing sometimes. Keeping it going on a bad day can seem like trying to keep a torch going in a blizzard. But in spite of all the failures, you still kept trying. How about it? Think you can be my torch?" Ruby asks, crouching down and extending her hand towards the Litwick, who is so overjoyed that it hops up and down on her palm. "Very well then, in honor of our partnership, I shall grant you the name Torch. May it be a source of strength during the most trying of times."

"She packs a punch," Sapphire says, amused at the comparison, "but I promise she's not poisonous. Shall we?" She offers an arm.

"All right, let's go." Emil takes Sapphire's arm gently and they head into the Grass-type area together.
Emil looks around as they enter the forested area, and spots something strange - a little pink-and-green bug with big eyes. It's shaped a little like a Scyther. "Huh, that's interesting, never seen one of those before..."
He bends down to take a closer look at the bug, which bats at him with one of its scythe-arms. He raises his eyebrows when he realizes he just got smacked with a leaf. "What the - you're not a bug at all, are you? You're a flower!"
Emil looks over the unfamiliar Pokémon, cocking his head as he examines what he thought was an exoskeleton but now sees is a skin made out of leaves and flower petals. "Huh, that's pretty clever! You're a flower that pretends to be a bug. Quite a pretty one, too. You got the eyes just right and everything." The Fomantis puffs itself up, looking pleased. "How'd you feel about coming along with me, then? I bet you'd be a surprise! We'll see if we can help you bloom more, huh?"
The Fomantis thinks for a moment, then puts out one of its leaves, which Emil shakes gently. "There you go. Think I'll call you... hmm. 'Snapdragon.' Snapdragons mean deception, after all."
He scoops the newly-dubbed snapdragon up into his arms and turns to Sapphire. "Do you know what sorta - oh, right, you said herbs, didn't you? Wonder if we can find something that'd fit you around here..."

Sapphire laughs. "He's pretty cute. I know there are bugs that pretend to be flowers and leaves, but I don't think I've ever seen one go the other way around."
"A Poison-type might be nice, they produce a lot of interesting stuff, but I'm not really looking for anything in particular. My father says most Grass-types can make themselves useful one way or another. They..." She trails off, and points to a tangle of shrubbery and creepers ahead of them, which looks perfectly innocuous... except for a pair of reddish feet sticking out. "Someone's not as good at hiding as they think," she stage-whispers to Emil, and approaches slowly, so as not to startle it.
"Hi there. You doing okay in there? It's pretty crowded today, I know, all sorts of people coming and going. I bet this place is usually a lot quieter." There is a brief rustle, but the feet don't withdraw. "How do you feel about a new partner? I'm not the most exciting choice, I should warn you, but I think if you were looking for excitement you wouldn't be tucked away in there. Right?" Another rustle, and this time the Pokemon emerges. It's... well, it looks basically like a few of the vines got up and started walking around on two feet. There are eyes visible, peeking out from between the vines, but that's about it. It reaches up a tendril, as if asking for something. "I, ah...I'm not sure what you're trying to say. You're a little too big for me to pick you up, I'm afraid... You want food? You want to go with me?"
The Tangela reaches up still further to pat her shoulder gently. "Aww. All right, little buddy, let's go." She takes the vine in her hand, holding it like she might hold a human hand, and turns back to Emil. "That was fast! I guess they wouldn't put the Pokemon in here if they didn't want a trainer to partner up with. I wonder where they get them all?"

Having recruiting Torch, Ruby makes her way to the Grass area to meet up with Sapphire and Emil. "Sapphy~ Emil~ I'm baaaaack!" She shuts, running over to them and giving Sapphire a hug. "How goes the recruitment?"
