Mica taps the squishy with a ball, but it bursts open almost as soon as the thing's contained within, now no longer on the hook. It hops up and down on the rock at her feet where it's fallen, bouncing around until it lands right side up. It looks crossly up at Mica, squeakily blubbing at her, as though demanding an apology.
The Amaura twists its head again... before reaching past Donovan, trying to worm its face into his bag, apparently curious about what's inside. It withdraws its face back after a moment, looking at Donovan, before warbling in what sounds like it could be affirmation. Although it's a little hard to tell.
"Sooorr-ryyyyy...." Mica chimes genuinely at the little fish. "I know you probably don't like being out of water, but I can't swim that well... or breathe... or talk! Not when everything's wet and heavy anyway. Pleased to meet you!" Mica gently grips one of the dealy-boppers and gives it a gentle handshake, her hair lifting free of her back with the rising static charge.
Donovan reaches into his bag with the Amaura and fishes around for a Pokeball. As it sings its little song to him, he nods in understanding "Right then. In that case" He holds out the ball and smiles "Touch this ball and it'll be the start of our partnership! I'll make sure you get to see all of the oceans in Vesperia, and I'll help you grow big and strong. In return I just want help saving people"
The fish doesn't seem to understand exactly what's going on. What is this human doing? It seems to think for a few moments, before giving a gentle jolt of electricity through the deelybopper. As Mica's hair goes entirely on end, it giggles in a way that reminds her of Taffy. Those two would probably get along swimmingly (ha), or be at each other's throats... It seems that it might be more receptive now to a ball, though, and accepts an offered one.
You caught a Chinchou! Level: 15 Gender: Male Nature: Lax Ability: Volt Absorb Moves: Bubble, Supersonic, Thunder Wave, Electro Ball, Soak
The Amaura awkwardly flails for the Pokéball with flippers, before huffing, and just going in to press its face against the sphere, managing to hit the button by accident, and getting sucked in. It clicks shut.
"..." Mica held a bewildered look on her face for the longest time after the Chinchou disappeared into a Pokeball. SHE HAD A POKEMON THAT COULD MAKE HER HAIR FLY! Several sparks of static later and she'd managed to mostly get it back under control. After the initial excitement she settled in with her rod again, kicking her feet over the water's edge. Today was going to be a day of fun, and new friends, and she'd play with them tonight while they were making camp! "How'd you make out Donovan?"
Donovan smiled, content with his new companion "I made a new friend. An Amaura. He's pretty big too, so I bet he can help us get across the bay....Speaking of, I should get a life jacket......" He sat back against the rock, twiddling the Pokeball with his new friend inside as Mica kept fishing. They still had a mystery to solve tonight, maybe he should take a little nap in the meantime, he thought to himself as he closed his eyes...
While Donovan takes a little rest, Mica continues to fish. It doesn't seem like things are biting, but eventually she feels a tug on her pole. A pressure that doesn't let up even after she yanks the lure and catch outside of the water. Odd. The little squirming white eel-fish keeps pulling on the line all the way she reels it in... even though it's not very strong, and it really ends up being fruitless. A for effort, at least.
Mica takes the tiny eel in both hands, eyes shining brightly. "Wow, you're really doing your best... Here, let me get that hook out...". She eases the lure free of the Pokemon's little mouth. "Even though I was a lot stronger you never gave up... I wanna call you Hero."
The little eel shakes itself free of the cupping, floating curiously in front of Mica, twirling around in the air. It finally settles on staring at her - in such a position that it makes her go cross-eyed - upside down in front of her nose. Unlike the Chinchou, it doesn't seem to be that irritated at being caught. Though, it does seem to keep mouthing around for food. With the kindness shown by Mica in hook removal (not paying the fact that it was her fault in the first place any mind), it allows itself to get caught.
The rest of the fishing goes disappointingly (or not, depending on which side of the napping one is on) quietly. After eating a meal, the pair sets up camp in the back, somewhat close to the Chinchou cove. The sounds of the ocean is all that can be heard... until, far past dark, there's some clear rustling in the brush nearby. It sounds like something sizeable is out there.
Donovan was wide awake after his nap. Sending Larkspur back for a little rest to make room for his new companion, which was a weird feeling. The only Pokemon he had sent away so far was the strange rock type. Well, he would be sure to rotate his team often, he had promises with all of them after all.
When he heard the rustling in the bushes he froze, knowing he wouldn't be able to make it anywhere without making a ton of noise. Instead he glanced over and attempted to see the source.
Mica crept towards the bugger with a look on her face which in the low lighting was probably equal parts eager and scary. Childish delight should not be paired with a devilish grin like that. She was gonna stop a bully, she liked that.
Mica creeps forwards, and is able to get a pretty good look at what the thing is in the moonlight. It reminds her a little of the very first squishy she'd seen, with the domed head, and writhing tentacles beneath. But this one has a lot more tentacles. And instead of a gem on the top of its head, it has these growths of what looks like moss. Or... something.
As it slithers its tentacles out of the brush, towards the glowing pond of Chinchou, it stops, clearly hearing her... and then seeing her, and Donovan a little ways back. Quick as a whip, it turns towards her, and begins to slowly menace towards her, eyes glowering, the sounds of something clacking in the mass of verdant tentacles audible to her. It... very much does not seem to be intimidated by her grin.
"We've got him now, come on out Spot!" Mica releases her Pokemon. "We caught the fishnapper red handed... tentacled! Isn't that great?" The ladybug rubs its big eyes with those tiny fists and yawns before bobbing halfheartedly in the air with a "Blip Bloop." "Use Reflect!"
Spot makes a noise very much like he would rather not, before a ripple of purplish light cascaded into the air around it, and it moved to engage the tentacled monster. (On 20)
Donovan winced as the vine creature shambles forward, not immediately recognizing it. Pulling out his Pokedex in order to find out which of his Pokemon would do best in this situation, he quickly throws out Dandelion in front of him. "Dandelion, let's take care of this quickly and cleanly! Show that thing your strength!"
The air around Spot ripples and... all of a sudden he finds himself very close to the hungry-looking monster in front of him. Oops. That probably isn't the best place to be.
"Tentacruel," Donovan's Dex reads. "The Thornbush Pokémon. Like its aquatic brethren, it has 80 tentacles that move to ensnare and entrap prey. Unlike those in the sea, it is quick to move on land, though it often camouflages itself amongst brush before striking."
No sooner does Donovan finish reading the 'Dex, the vine-y tentacles move slightly aside, in order for a spray of acid to shoot out over Spot, drowning the ladybug in purple sludge.
The purple beam strikes the mass of tentacles at the base of the creature, but it seems to have no noticeable decrease in the number of appendages. Suddenly one of the vines shoots out, and wraps around Dandelion, dragging the bee towards the thing's maw. The bug manages to slip out, but not before getting tugged next to the thing - where he and Spot are beset by a torrent of leaves, that are coated in the same purple acid as before.
Thankfully, they don't seem to be terribly effective against the pair of bugs, but they do leave incisions from which poison can be seen getting into their systems.
Dandelion misses. Dandelion is dragged by Threaded. Spot takes 12 damage, an injury, and is Poisoned from Razor Leaf. A critical hit! Dandelion takes 23 damage and is Poisoned from Razor Leaf. A critical hit!
"O-oh... It's okay Spot, come on back, you did your best!" Mica attempts to recall the Ledyba, who was floating woozily a second before, but it slips the beam. Shaking its head, it beeps aggressively at her. "You're just going to get hurt more if you keep fighting! I know I don't let you much but this is serious!" Another failed recall attempt.
Spot lights from within, eyes set in determination, growing into a new form. She was sleek, and boxed at the air for a moment, taking up a resting stance so Mica could see how serious she was, before rounding on the mass of tentacles and poison.
The newly-evolved fists hit hard, and the vine-creaturerecoils a little bit at being struck, but it quickly regains its bearings and lashes out again, glowing with a purple light... that causes the toxins within Spot to attack it further from the inside. Weakened from its exertion in trying to protect Mica, and bearing the full brunt of the monster's assault, Spot falls to the ground, unconscious.
Spot hits with Comet Punch. Spot takes 6 damage from Poison. Spot takes 52 damage, 3 injuries, and Faints from Venoshock.

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.
Dec 2, 2019 19:05:30 GMT
but how else do i find games then?

Sounds to me like they weren't a group you'd want to be part of anyway.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
