"You keep using these words that I don't understand, and use other words to describe them that I also don't understand." Kursz complained. "What is a pack? What is a flock? Do you eat it? Hide in it...? Are there other things?" At that, Em had to stifle a giggle.
The Cutiefly looks down into Thel's eyes over the edge of his hairline, and cocks it's head thoughtfully to one side, before settling in his palm opposite the Pokeball. Hoppip similarly gives a bounce into Muku's arms. Both either incredibly brave, or ignorant to the dangers in which they place themselves, accept capture willingly.

NGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
It's... So small! SO DELICIOUS! SO... CUTE!
A bead of sweat travels down Muku's face, which see conspicuously wipes away with the tiny Hoppip before resuming her death stare into it's eyes. It was in her hands! It wasn't afraid of her! She could eat it right now with no threat of consequences. Hoppips were weak! Defenseless! So tender and plump! When had been the last time she ever had a Hoppip? Days, weeks, months, years, centuries? She didn't know, birds don't tell time! GRAH! They wake up early anywaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays… Back to the creature.
The young birb trainer cradles the creature in her arms carefully, then turns to Em with a crazed looking grin. "NGGGGH. What do I do, what do I do, what do I do!? I-I've never been in a situation where I wasn't attacking one of these creatures and I wanna eat it but it's so cute that I don't know if I could if I want to and I don't really know what to think of that, I mean I used to be a bird so it kind of makes the sense but at the same time it's so darn cute and I didn't really ever associate that with anything that wasn't a hatchling, and of course, you don't eat Starlys so that's BAD with a capital b as in bird and I just wanna hug it and squeeze it till it stops moving but I also know that's really bad and I can I even train a thing like this because I'm not going to lie, I don't know the leader thing and it's making me panic just a little bit and aaaahhh!"

"A pack is when you live with others of your kind, and then get set tasks together," Thel explains. "Usually hunting, if there's something too large or dangerous for just one of us to take down. Everything else tends to just be one of us ordered to do something."
He turns his attention back to the ball and bug. Click the button and throw, Joy had said. The first step's easy. Click. The ball grows, okay. But... it seems like throwing this would just squish the bug. Not to mention throwing at this range seems awkward. Instead, he just... tries bringing the ball up to the bug, and sees what happens.

"Humans don't eat Hoppips, you don't have a beak anymore." Em gently set a hand on Muku's shoulder. "You might choke on it, or get sick." She didn't genuinely know, but Muku was showing a great deal of distress, so much that she couldn't mistake it for anything else. In a way, not feeling something like that for once was kind of a relief. It felt lonely, to be emotionally disjointed from others.
The Cutiefly tapped the ball with it's proboscis, and disappeared in a flash of light. The ball wriggled in Thel's palms until it stopped with a clarion 'ding'.
"..." Kursz sweated a little. 'Hunting' didn't sound like 'scavenging' at all, and that was all he'd really known before. Being in a group that worked together? Wouldn't that just draw more attention and get you eaten? ... MAYBE IF HE WERE SMALL!

"Nothing that a good fire couldn't solve," Thel says, offhandedly, to Em and Muku, as he peers at the sphere. He doesn't really like the way it wriggled... is it going to keep doing that? Or is it stopped now? Or what?
"So... anyone have any idea how to really use these things properly?" he asks, looking, once again, to Em and Muku. "It was never really at the forefront of my mind whenever seeing a Trainer. Didn't really think I'd have to worry about it," he adds, sarcastically, before flinching. Was that okay? Probably best not to try sarcasm out loud. They might not take kindly to it.

"I don't have a beak?!" Muku says, with an expression of both shock and brutal despair. It passed quickly however when her fingers touched her lips and felt just how flabby they were. Ah. She was right. And there were these... Stones. Mouth stones? Teeth! Maybe they were like a gizzard... But for her mouth? How confusing! She never had... Teeth before. She didn't know any birds with teeth. But maybe... maybe that was a good thing. Muku looks down at the Hoppip and gazes into it's deep, mysterious eyes of pitch.
"I think you're right Em." She says slowly. "Even if I wanted to... I don't think my foot claws could ever be used to tear this Hoppip up into manageable sized chunks. My gizzard just couldn't take it!"
A breathy sigh escapes her lips, and her head lies down on Em's head. Muku wasn't... Good at reading faces of other Pokémon. She didn't get them. She understood the flock, and the flock made sense to her. And she was also kind of bad at communicating. That was a problem. But she did want to say... Thanks, in her own weird way. Em was a mystery, but it was one that Muku could still respect.
Thel broke her out of this reverie, and Muku's head bolts up to meet his in a flash. "I've ah... Figured out how to press the button but that's about it. Kursz ah... Kursz threw his at that one creature, so I think if you do that then... You can catch something right? That's only if you hit it. My ball went flying and didn't catch anything." Muku produces the Hoppip from underneath her forearm, and holds out the ball in front of her. With a click it expanded into it's full form. "Now that I don't think I want to eat it, I'm not so worried about being it's trainer. If it wants to join you... You just sort of hold it out, right?"

Omega holds up the ball "Press the button to make it big" He pressed it with his thumb "And then throw it where you want it to go" He tossed the ball down at his feet, releasing the blue hunter from before "That is what the nurse said to do." It worked. He acted like he wasn't surprised but inside Omega was laughing, filled with joy. He did it, he actually managed to use one of the human devices and now, now he could capture ANY Pokemon.
Part of him wanted to find his old Pack so that he could capture Alpha and Beta, leaving them trapped in the little ball forever. But no, he had much bigger plans in mind. He would do it. He would be Alpha of all the humans....somehow. At least all the humans around here
Turning his attention to the Shinx, he gets down to eye level with it and stares for a moment "I am Omega, I was once Mightyena but now I am man. I have lost both my claws and my fangs. You are now my Fang. Understood?"

Em paled a little at Thel's mention of fire, and the Hoppip vocally echoed this protest, burying it's face under Muku's wing. As the situation seemed to resolve itself, she visibly calmed, settling into a relaxed smile. "If anyone needs to talk... a-about how all of this makes them feel I mean... I'd really like that."
The Hoppip bobbed gently in the crook of Muku's arm. The fat, happy-looking roly-poly morsel that it was. When presented with the ball, it seemed to think it a game and disappeared inside without a moment's notice. The Shinx answers Omega with a dismissive yowl, which was half a yawn, but it's understanding seems clear.
"We should probably head back to the blocks the humans live in. Nests? Squares... Houses!" Kursz parsed after a little difficulty. "They stay in those at night."

"Of course, Lady Em," Thel says, basically jumping at the invitation. "If you need somebody to talk, then I can do that. It feels... strange. More and more as time goes on. While I'm more used to being on two legs now... I keep running into more and more things that I don't know, like 'what can I eat?' I feel rather defenseless... I'm big, and I don't have fire nor toxin to defend myself with." He sighs. "I don't know what to do." While the spiel had basically just started as wanting to do what she'd asked... by the end, it was much more of a candid admission.

"We've just so many problems... Muku can't keep track of them all!" Muku replies morosely, staring at the Pokéball in her hand. "Fire is one thing, but what's a bird with no wings? They aren't even birds at all..."
Well. She'd just have to live vicariously through something else. What had just happened to the Hoppip was what she had hoped would happen, but it felt a bit... Dirty. The whole putting a Pokémon away like that sort of thing. Starly would never like to be captured. That's why they hid from human sight.
Gah! How depressing! Maybe it's because the cute thing was gone? Probably! She flicks the ball and releases Hoppip with a smile. "Aha! there you are again Mmmm!" She cries. Then she pauses, lips pursing. "I don't think Mmmm translates well from Starly speak for some reason..."

"Going back to their dens is a good idea." Omega nods in agreement as he recalls Fang, knowing the beast still might not listen to him well.
He turned to Em "I feel glad. Glad that we are not alone in this and have each other. Glad that we are still strong enough that we can fight, even against Pokemon. And glad that we can keep moving forward, towards whatever is in our path." He grinned, his lips a little too parted and his teeth bared more than needed.
As much as he wanted all that to be true, he was still scared. He didn't know what to do, and no matter how much he tried to lead, he was still Omega at heart, the bottom of the pack. Thel could already see that, he just knew it inside, and it was only a matter of time before the others recognized it as well. But in he meantime he had to keep acting like an Alpha, because that was the only thing keeping him together.
Running a hand through his mane, he began to walk back towards the humans gathering place.

The return trip to town was filled with conversation, often returning to how alien this all felt. Omega and Kursz seemed to think it a positive thing, Em mixed, and Muku and Thel waxing their disappointment at the loss of their physical agency and mastery of what they knew before. Your new Pokemon companions don't offer any insight into what it means to be a trainer, but seem to be genuinely enthused with your company, though Fang and Chchchbihui (Kursz couldn't make the noises Skorupi did anymore, but did his best) only expressed what seemed to be hunger, or boredom while out.
Joy seems glad to see you on your return to the red-roofed building. "Oh good, you found your friends alright... I was starting to get worried. Is anyone hurt?"

Seeing that the others (or, well, more specifically Muku) had seemingly begun to name their Pokémon, Thel decides that it might be a good thing to do as well. Is that what a Trainer did? He never really paid attention to that aspect. Regardless, he wracks his brain for what to call it as he walks, before settling on Hope. It's a little reminder of what he most needs at this time.
"I don't believe any of us are hurt," Thel says, when they returned to Joy's building. "Unless you were hurt in your fall, Lady Muku?" She didn't seem hurt on the way here, but... did he just not notice? The thought worries him.

The walk back for Muku was exceedingly pleasant on the whole. It was hard to be around a Hoppip and not feel the urge to take it down and eat it, but maybe she would work on that. After all, it was her trainer! That was how it worked right? Or no. She was the trainer. Gah!
But, before long, they arrived. She had been examining the large frame of the not-door, pressing up her fingers against the glass of a non-broken pane. Huh. There was something there after all! When Thel calls out to her, her head jerks up with a small jolt.
"Uh-uh! Muku isn't hurt, Muku has a hard head!" She replies. Flock leaders had always told her that her thick skull was one of her more charming aspects! Her head was still hurting just a little bit and was lightly bruised, but she had a feeling that it would clear up pretty easily by morning. Small things like impact damage tended to be like that. A lot of the older Staravia would always tell her that it's others impacting you that hurt worse; though on occasion one would get over zealous in hunting and crash into a tree. But, she's not the only one who took hits. Her eyes turned over to Omega with concern.
"But Omega isn't Muku. Omega got hit by some of the Pokémon."

Omega lifts his shirt to show a large bruise forming "I did get hit. This form is not very strong. The Fang in this ball was hurt as well" He holds out his Pokeball in front of himself.
He looked over at Muku and shrugged "Maybe I should try and be more like you, and get a harder head and faster legs"
Turning back to the Joy he raised an eyebrow "Why do you ask? Do you have some Berries in the back or something? I just need a few of those and a den to rest in and I should be better soon"

"This red roofed building is called a Pokemon Center, it is a place where we speed along recovery for both people and Pokemon, free of charge. If you'll let me see the Pokemon you've caught, I can get them in the tray and energized." She gestures to the machine behind her with six bowl shaped hollows in a plate under a large screen. "Then I can treat your bruising, and you can all eat and rest here tonight if you'd like."

"Free of charge?" Thel asks, confused. "What's that mean?" He does release the caught bug from its ball like he'd seen Omega do earlier. "Uh... and here. What now?" He'll let Muku and Em respond to the offer of food and shelter.

"Free of... Accusations?" Muku wonders aloud, pursing her lips. Free was an easy word, but charge was such a confusing word. It was a word with so many meanings, so many so that it was certainly impossible to guess what this human meant by it! But she did understand helping, and if they were free of something, maybe that was a good thing. This lady had been so nice so, Muku nodded and trusted her.
"I'll give you Mip's Pokéball and that way you can do whatever you need to do to make sure she's safe and happy." Muku replies, handing over the ponderous red and white sphere. "And I don't think we have anywhere else to go so... Maybe it would ok to stay here. I think."

Omega grunted in acknowledgement and handed over the ball with the Shinx in it "Please return the Fang that is in this ball when it is healed. I have need of it in the future"
He looked around "Where is this food you speak of? I see no hunters bringing in prey, or fresh corpses anywhere?" He sounded genuinely confused "Do you keep them underneath? We often dragged excess into the furthest reaches of the den where it was colder, it made the rot take longer to take effect"

"I keep forgetting." Joy smiles and shakes her head at the alien nature of it all, taking your Pokeballs as they're offered, even instructing Thel in how to 'recall' a Pokemon. She sets the balls in the machine, images of each individual Pokemon coming up as the balls light up from above. "Charge is another word for fee, or price. Humans use an item for trade, that is accepted everywhere. It is a 'currency', known as 'Pyen'. Pokemon Centers offer their services to trainers for free. You aren't trainers, at least... not officially... but these are sort of special circumstances."
Physically, she blanches at Omega's mention of rotting food in the basement. "We keep the food in heating trays in the small cafe area off of the main room." She gestures in the direction of another entryway, where faint but foreign smells waft. "You can sup while I take care of your pokemon, if you're feeling up to it."
