"No areas designated as 'priority' are indicated," Omega says. "The nearest one is not far from here, though. No humans are reported as being amongst them."As a matter of fact, it's very not-far, only being about two blocks over. The Pokémon there are a little bit more destructive than the dogs were, though. There's a trio of small metal spiders, about half a meter in size, clinging to the side of a building, and melting holes in it. As one spots the Technicians, it chitters, and, through a hole in the wall, a more than twice as large spider pokes its head up and glares out, as the smaller ones crawl down from the wall. Map

When Silas notices the bugs melting (eating?) holes in the wall, he recalls the old woman's story from the last mission. Is Nephilim's choice of metal eaters a tactical one? Or is it a subtle taunt? He tosses a Pokeball forward, releasing a bug of his own to do battle. Release Gus at I9. Initiative 5

That was certainly an infestation. Not so little creepy crawlies ruining the fine walls of the Over. Blake isn't so worried about the spiders, they were tiny after all. Expertly spinning Radiant's ball closer to the group, he then pales slightly as the bigger bug peaks out from the building. "Oh dear."Realease Radiant to L9. Initiative 5 Blake initiative 10

Between insect- and metal-Pokemon, Thoron opted for his heavier-hitting option in Aias. " Agreed. Watch that they don't swarm Radiant, they could be metal-eaters." Release Aias (bird) to J9. Aias initiative: 21 Thoron initiative: 5

The bugs chitter and blink as they turn to face the Technicians, the smaller ones staring with bright blue orbs, while the larger one's eyes are solid spheres of crimson menace. Aias goes first. (As well as any orders.)

Aias stared back at the pests, a predatory glean in his eye. On Thoron's command, he surged ahead to test one of the smaller arachnids. Leading not with a solid blow like he so often did, Aias feinted at the last moment against the left-most one. Thoron activates Brutal Training (Orders) with Battle Conductor (+Swift). One use goes to Aias.
Aias shifts to F5 and uses Feint Attack. Autohit (Acc? Q5_RuNsh1d20+1) DB8 - 2d8+35 Physical Dark damage 1d20+1·2d8+35

Aias sweeps forwards to slam the bug, and connects, but it seems surprisingly solid. Or, perhaps not so surprisingly, seeing as it seems to have an unyielding metal shell. The thing's at least knocked around, at least, and it chitters irately at the bird. The larger spider, in contrast, is silent, with only the tapping of metal claws on surfaces marking its movement. It dashes with frightening speed around the battlefield, looking to move past the front line of Pokémon, towards the humans. As it approaches, it seems like purple liquid is spilling out of the joints in its armour, running in rivulets down its body, hissing as odd drops hit the ground. Its claws gleam menacingly as it rubs them together, sharpening them. Aias hits S1 with Feint Attack. Megaspider uses Hone Claws, and triggers Vicious. Megaspider gains +1 Attack, +1 Accuracy, and +2 to Critical Hits.

Blake could handle this right? The metal spiders were manageable. He picks out the biggest one and tries to disrupt it's focus. "You rusty tin can! You can barely even take a wall. What hope have you against Technicians?" Not his best work truly but he wasn't sure how much he wanted it's attention. The big spider at least seems to acknowledge Blake, eyes narrowing. Whether that's a good thing or not is... yet to be seen. The smaller ones near it begin to scuttle forwards, their shells shimmering brighter as they do so. The spider near Lowe, on the other hand, opens its mouth to reveal large fangs that really seem like they're too big for its mouth, dripping with the same poison that seems to be leaking out of the large spider, hissing as it hits the ground. It sinks those teeth into Aias, causing the bird to briefly spasm. Megaspider is Enraged from Taunt. Aias takes 22 damage from Poison Fang, and is Badly Poisoned. S2 and S3 use Harden.

Silas looks at the bugs and recalls Gus's skill set. There's probably not much he can do that will damage the things, so the medic gives specific orders for once. "Gus, keep the big one busy. We'll back you up as soon as we can."As instructed Gus charges at his target and tries to do what he does best: dump a pile of toxic spores in its face. Silas uses Focused Orders on Gus!
Gus moves to H9 and uses Stun Spore on Megaspider! AC 6: 3

For slightly different reasons, both the Technician and his Pokemon decided that wasn't good. Aias, because there was more to that bite than those puny fangs suggested. Now that the bug was on-guard, another feint wouldn't work... So he returned to the tried method of bashing them head-on with a Wing Attack. Thoron, meanwhile, took issue with the predatory look in the leader's fiery eyes. When Gus stepped up to stall it, Thoron discreetly positioned himself to better assess the main target. From behind the mushroom-carrier. Thoron shifts to M12 at the end of the round. Aias uses Wing Attack on S1 and Disengages to G6. AC2 - 15 DB8 - 42 Physical Flying Bad Poison is 5 damage on turn 1?
Thoron binds Capricious Whirl to Gus (Standard, Orders) and Records Mega-Spider (Swift) 2 AP bound, 1 AP spent.

Gus and Radiant shift around, though they aren't doing any direct damage to the bugs. Aias seems to pick up some of that slack, though, getting a good smash on the smaller spider near it. Blake's taunt seems to be doing work, though, as the spider swings around wildly to bite at Gus... but it rather too wild, and doesn't really get any traction. Gus Misses. S1 takes an injury from Wing Attack. Megaspider misses with Poison Fang.

Excellent. The big spider had missed. And it wasn't quite focused on him yet. There were still those smaller bugs though. He could block their path from getting too his fellow Technicians. Shimmying slightly into place between the two spiders, he strikes out expertly at the leftmost one. Shift- Splash to L8 Aerial Ace on S2 24 Flying Physical Damage

Blake hits the spider... and man, is it solid. It feels like, despite landing a solid blow that he really didn't do too much to the squishy parts beneath the steel exterior. He also realizes that... whoops, this might not have been the best spot, as he isn't able to keep an eye on both spiders at once. He manages to dodge around one's attack, but the other one is able to get a solid hit in on him, raking him with its claws. He's going to need to sew that up later... Aias isn't quite as lucky, with the bug facing it getting in several good rakes, legs moving in a blur. It's becoming a bit more of a nuisance, sharpening its claws in the Honchkrow like that. Blake hits with Aerial Ace. Aias takes 33 damage and an injury from Metal Claw. A critical hit! S1's Attack increases. Blake takes 23 damage and an injury from Metal claw. S3 misses with Metal Claw.

Radiant wheels as Blake cries out. How dare those bugs! Circling back around behind them, Radiant lets forth a flurry of bubbles. Surely that would teach those bugs some manners or disperse them. Either way really. Shift L6

When his fellow Technician cries out, Silas springs into action. All the walking that comes with this job has improved his physique, and it proves effective in combat as well. He quickly empties a restorative, targeting the wounded areas with practiced precision. Meanwhile, Gus squares off against his foe. His usual buggy skills won't do much against another arthropod. Instead, he lunges forward with his technique created precisely for situations like this: the Incredibly Normal Slash! Silas sprint to K9. Potion to Blake as a Swift action. Spend 1 AP activating Medical Techniques. Blake recovers 36 HP.
Gus uses Slash on Megaspider! AC 2: 10 DB 7: 39

Aias wasn't feeling well. Through a combination of poison, steel and more legs than he cared to count, the fight was really draining the bird... But at this point, there wasn't much he could do but stand his ground. As Aias shifted uneasily for his next strike, Thoron called out for a more powerful attack. So ordered, the Honchkrow gave the spiderling his best shot. Again. Thoron doesn't shift. Next round.
Thoron binds Reckless Advance to Aias. (-2 AP Bind) Aias uses Wing Attack on S1. Recklessly! AC2 - 21 DB8 - 54+23 = 71 Physical Flying Aias is Vulnerable for 1 full round. Aias takes 10 Bad Poison damage. Aias disengages to G6.

Gus's attack may not have been the most effective - chitin against metal - but it still leaves a score in the thing's carapace, purple liquid dripping out of the small rent. Radiant finds more success, the spiders not seeming to be as well protected against attacks that can get in between their armour's cracks. And Aias is more successful still, tearing into one, and causing it to dissipate. The large spider seems to have had enough of the whaling on its companions, and skitters past Gus, next to the two Trainers. All of a sudden its armour seems to loosen, before gouts of the toxic purple liquid that seem to form the innards of its body come jetting out, splashing over Blake, Silas, and one of the Spiders. It burns at the two humans, but the smaller spider seems to come out of it entirely intact - in fact, it seems even more clean and shiny now, as though all the grime just got washed off of it. Gus hits with Slash. It's not very effective. S2 takes an injury from Bubble. S3 is hit by Bubble. S1 Faints from Wing Attack. Gus can take an AoO. Silas takes 47 damage from Sludge Wave. Blake takes 57 damage from Sludge Wave. S2 is hit by Sludge Wave. It had no effect.

OUCH! No sooner had Silas patched up his wounds than the extra large spider had spewed it's foul acid all over him. How could such a pitiful....ok powerful bug be so strong? You'd think that something like this would have come to light before. "Urgh, Thanks for the care. Sorry it seems to have been a bit wasted. Err a step back then? Maybe not so close together?" He hurls a ball at one of the bugs before hopping forward, lightly jumping over Radiant's head and wincing slightly as he settles away from the trio of spiders. Shift-Splash to L4
