It looked like Gypsy did a number of the opponent, but it still had a little spark left in it.

Oliver whooped as he pulled the ball out of the water and wiped away some of the excess water. “Alright, I got a Barboach!” He exclaimed.
“Deerling!” Blitzed joined in.
“We got a Barboach, yeah,” the trainer corrected. Then he looked over to Barry and yelled, “Hey Barry! We got one!”
It was only then that he realized his feet were in the near freezing water, and his shoes were getting soaked. The physical approach might not have been the best of ideas.
“Not to rush you, but I think I might need to get back inside soon.”

John chuckles to himself, "he is a sparky lil rodent isn't he?" turning to Keno, "You good or want some help?"

Since it didn't seem wary of the ball at all, Tori tried to gently tap it on the little keychain Pokemon. You just had to touch it with the Pokeball, right..?

Keno, Gypsy smacks her horns against the rodent before the squirrel gets dizzy and falls to the ground. It fainted.
Gypsy gains 5 xp.
Tori, the pokemon curiously pushed the button and it opened, pulling it inside. The ball shakes a few times before the light stops blinking and locks for a successful capture.

Keno couldn't help but be proud of Gypsy, "Well done, guess it wasn't up to snuff to join our team. How about another Scald attack somewhere out of the way, hop in, keep yourself warm in this air." Petting his friend in congratulations, he would return Gypsy to the pokeball when she was finished, so as not to reverse her efforts.
Gypsy sniffed at the Pachirisu and shoved it with her snout, it was down for the count. Her mane ruffled with prided, she was meant for the fight.
Turning to John, "We're having a little capture contest, if you want in; more competition the merrier."
Mentioned the capture contest, Keno was struck with dread, winning the fight was great and all, but not his goal at the moment. 'there's got to be more pokemon around here, something with the right stuff. The Pachirisu was high, maybe check low... allies... trash... where are you?'

"Hmmmm I think I will join your little competition." John Stated then headed a little ways off from Keno to search for a pokemon he would be able to capture.

"Sweeet!" Tori made a victory pose, holding her catch aloft. "That was super easy! Almost felt like cheating." She grinned slyly to Getaway, the lizard still perched lazily on her shoulder. She let the keyring out of its ball, rubbing her chin as she scrutinized it. "Welcome to Team Tori, key-dude. Uh. Guess I gotta give it a name... uh... what are you, anyhow?" Fiddling with her phone, she managed to scan the Pokemon and waited for the device to share its intel. "Huh, okay, let's go with... Valentine!" Giving the Klefki the "borrowed" stopwatch as a reward, she returned it to its Pokeball. "Maybe we still oughta try doin' things the proper way, though. Just so we know how, right guys? Where was that other thing..." Going back the way she came, Tori tried to find the source of the barking she'd heard before.

Barry saw the catch and did the classic 'Aw yeah!' fist clench. He was glad that Oliver did so well on his own. On top of that, those moves he displayed to help Blitzen out, he'd have to ask Oliver about that trick later. Barry raised a hand for a hi-five as Oliver approached. "We'll be headed back in a minute. Nice catch Olly." He said with a congratulatory enthusiasm. Barry turned back to the stump for a second, still perplexed. He knew there should be something in there as he saw no exit paths in the stump and the trail of glitter didn't lead anywhere else. The question was though, how should he best go about getting it out? He had a couple options. He could have Sitri tackle the stump and force it out, or he could try the calm approach.
'Why not both?' Barry thought quickly. He took the pieces of Oran berry out of his pocket and laid them out on top of the stump. He then took a few tiny pieces and dropped them down inside the stump as well. Barry took Sitri's ball and released her next to the stump. As Sitri materialized, she took a quick lap of the log, glad to be free of her prison. Barry looked at her and said, "Sitri, bump that log. Lightly! Don't hit it too hard. We want to wake up whatever is in there, not scare it." He looked at Oliver and said, "I have no idea what's in there, but I have a hunch. Do me a solid and be ready to back me up? This could go south fast if there's more than one." Barry took a deep breath and collected himself. He didn't like the unknown, but this was a great chance that he couldn't let go. "Hit it Sit."

Oliver hi-fived the poffered hand and then backed up when Barry went to catch his own mon. As he did, flexed his toes and feet, trying to keep them warm and returned Blitzen to his Pokeball. He didn't know what Barry was going after, but for now, he'd keep back

Keno, you spot something on a lawn two houses down. It was a small pokemon that was hopping around and nibbling on some brown blades of grass. The poofy white fur on its ears and torso seemed to keep it nice and warm while it dug out another spot in the snow. The face was covered in short brown fur and it didn't seem to notice you yet.
John, across the street, you see another pokemon that is sniffing around near some trashcans. It resembled a breed of dog with neon green fur with yellow streaks on its pointed ears. It looked like it could stay warm in this cold weather, but the poor thing seemed very thin. It looked like it has been a while since it had food and it was scavenging for scraps.
Tori, your pokedex tells you about the pokemon you caugh. "Klefki, a key ring pokemon. Klefki were originally found in mining communities in Kalos, during medieval times. This creature is a nullivore and doesn't require sustenance. This creature is a terravore, having a diet that consists of metallic minerals. Iron, copper, brass, and bronze are its preferred sources of food. It absorbs the metals through the key-shaped horn on its head. Wild klefki are known to collect discarded or lost keys. It is unknown why they do this, but a new hypothesis suggests that they use the keys as a defense mechanism. When threatened or scared, they will shake the keys to make a series of noises that may scare away anything getting too close. As for domesticated individuals, humans have found them to be very useful for keeping keys to cars, houses, and safes away from thieves. Being of the fairy-type, they have mysterious powers that may make them tricky to steal from.
You investigate the barking, only to find a pokemon emerge from between the houses. It seemed to be very angry with the look in its eyes and how it barked at you loudly. It had a large head with a smashed in nose, a jaw that jutted out with sharp teeth, droopy ears, and pink fur.
Barry, a minute after Sitri bumped the stump, you see something move inside the hole. A small larva-like pokemon emerged to investigate and spots your bait of oran berries. As it begins to nibble on them, you can see its body is black with a white fuzzy collar around the neck. Its completely covered in more of the glittering powder, which flakes off of it as it moved. It was so thick on it, that it looked like it was keeping it safe from the cold winds blowing.

John carefully pulled out a scrap of beef jerky and a pokeball. Holding the pokeball behind him he cautiously approached the canine pokemon offering up the scrap as a treat. "Hey there", he said in a soft voice, "you look hungry care for a Bite to eat."

“Don’t reckon I’ve seen you before.” Barry said hushly. He pulls out his Pokédex and gives the critter a scan...at least he thinks. That is if the thing will work for him this time. He’s not 100% sure he has it figured out.
Barry looks over the bug a bit from a slight distance. Whatever was protecting it is now falling off. That could only mean one thing. He had to try to capture it before it froze to death in the cold. Barry slowly creeps up on the bug and tries to coax it into joining him. He takes out a Pokeball and a lum berry from his pocket. He offers both the the bug while saying, “Hey little fella. I’ll keep ya fed. You have to hop in this here little ball first though. I don’t want you freezing up on me.”

Keno scanned the creature.

John, the canine catches a whiff of your jerky and sniffs the air towards it. It growls, seeming to be wary of you, but it can't help but lick its lips and drool at your offer. It slowly, approaches, keeping an eye on you as if it was expecting sudden movements.
Barry, the dex says to you, "Scatterbug, a scatterdust pokemon. Its body constantly sheds a poisonous black powder that creates glittering trails, wherever it crawls. When under attack, it shakes its body to release a cloud of this dust. When breathed in, it releases a weak neurotoxin that causes paralysis, giving this pokemon enough time to crawl away. The dust also has a secondary function that gives it insulation in the winter, allowing it to stay warm enough to survive harsh weather. When the time for it to evolve approaches, it begins to eat twice its weight in vegetation in order to gain the nutrients it needs for the process."
Keno, your pokedex says, "Buneary, a rabbit pokemon. Buneary are very common in fields or areas with clear lands to dig burrows. They're favorite spots are always ones dug up by bunnelby. This pokemon usually keeps its ears rolled up, so it usually surprises people on how long they are when they extend. When they are threatened, they will use the thick muscles in their ears to uncoil them and "punch" the attacker. It has enough force to leave bruises in adults. During the mating season in March, before evolution, males will do "boxing" matches to get the right to choose a female. The soft, thick fur on its ears and body keep this pokemon warm in the winter and helps it sleep in the cold nights."

Barry looked back towards Oliver and signaled towards his pokedex. He hoped that Oliver would read the part about the neurotoxin. It looked like Oliver was far enough away though as to not be effected. Just his luck that this thing would knock him out just after getting his license.
Barry tried to talk to the little guy one more time, this time though with a calm and inviting tone. "Okay little guy. It's gettin mighty cold out. I want ya to hop in the ball so you can stay warm. You done lost all your layers. Whadda say?" He nudges towards the ball near the bug.

"You can have it" John stated to the pokemon. "I might have more also, and if you would like to come with me I will make sure you are never hungry again. But, for now here." The john, trying not to make a sudden move to scare off the dog pushed the scrap of dried meat to the tips of his fingers. Additionally John set the unfilled pokeball down next to him to free his left hand so that he could retrieve a candy bar from his pocket once the dog took the meat.
