Oliver, the pokedex says to you, "Barboach, a whisker pokemon. This jawless fish makes its home in muddy water and spends most of its time buried beneath the bottom. The whiskers on its mouth serve as a means of feeling and tasting prey. If it feels something brush against it and it tastes good, it will grab it and swallow it whole. While swimming around to search for a new patch of mud, it defends itself by covering its body in thick mucus. This allows the pokemon to slip away from predators that may try to grab it. If a trainer decides to touch it, it is advised that they wash their hands thoroughly, as the mucus contains a toxin that causes stomach aches when ingested."
Barry, your pokemon education tells you that the glitter was left behind by a scatterbug. Their bodies leave behind a glittering powder wherever they crawl. By the looks of things, the berries were eaten and left to dry in the winter air for the past several weeks before it moved to the stump. You look over to Oliver to see he's approaching a barboach in the shallows of the river.
Tori, you catch the sound of jingling metal down the street as you pass by the rows of houses, and trashcans. By one of the fences, you also hear the sound of something like a dog, barking loudly at you.

Keno, you see a pachirisu running across power lines over the houses as its tail twitches. It suddenly notices you staring at it before attempting to hide itself behind a telephone pole.

'Nice try,' the blueish streak that caught Keno's eye was on the move. He tried to keep track of it as it scurried twards cover, bus also checked the surrunding area where it was headed. Keno was aware of the possibility it could lead back to other pokemon that could cause a bad time.

Keno, your pokedex scans the pachirisu and provides it's information.
(Refer to when Jason scanned this species.)

Oliver threw Blitzen's Pokeball so that the grass type would land just in front of the Barbroach.

Keno wasn't sure if a Pachirisu was going to cut the mustard, but headed back empty handed was the prevailing fear.
"You're on Gypsy, we've got company, let's see if we can flush them out!" With a toss Gypsy emerged from her pokeball.

Keno's head turned at John's call, he gave a 'shhh' sign and waved him over. Hopefully John wouldn't interfere and void the contest. "New gear? got everything?" he said to the side. "Gypsy, let's heat things up, show that squirrel what you've learned." Gypsy begins to churn water in the back of her throat as he gets into position, steam rising from her mouth. She lets loose the torrent of water trying with wash the Pachirisu out of hiding. Scald to hit: T01DZRVY1d20 AC 2 Range 5, burns on 15+

Oliver rushes forwards as the battle begins. He easily closes the distance to Barbroach and then throws himself into the air, passing over top of the pokemon. As he passes by he twists his body and legs so that the foot makes a double scything kick before he lands. JX_reJ3r2d6+8+9OOC: Oliver moves up and uses Aerial Ace. By activating Flip Out, Oliver can choose to trade the chance to crit for the Pass Keyword instead. And since Aerial Ace can't miss, I didn't bother to roll to hit. So now between Oliver and Blitzen the Barbroach should be flanked.
Having Blitzen hold his action until I can get a feeling for how that hit affected the Barbroach.

Her curiosity piqued, Tori quietly crept closer to investigate the jingling sound. If it was hanging out near the trashcans, chances were it was her kind of Pokemon. Slowly she reached into her pocket and pulled out the little smoke lizard, letting him rest in her hand as his eyes adjusted to the sunlight. Stealth check: 21

Barry looks on in amazement at Oliver's display of movement. He stays still, but ready, incase he needs assistance. Although after seeing what just occurred, he doubted Oliver would need any help at all.

Tori, as you sneak carefully toward the jingling noise, you catch sight of a small pokemon that resembles some kind of keychain. Its skin was shiny, like it was made of metal and its mouth was shaped like a lock. Hanging from it were a few keys. Some were old and rusty, others looked newer. The creature was floating in the air by some unknown means as it scanned the ground. It flies over to a nearby porch and checks under the welcome mat. It seems rather disappointed to not find anything.
Oliver, your pokemon takes the fish by surprise, giving enough of a distraction for you to attack. Your kicks splash through the water and hit its slimy body, which slides on contact.
Keno, the Pachirisu screams in pain as it was suddenly hit by scalding water that made a cloud of steam in the cold air. The pokemon is completely soaked as its once fluffy fur sags off of its small body. With the way the steam comes off of it, it looks like it was injured in the initial attack. The squirrel made a chatter and squeak before hopping off the telephone pole and runs at Gypsy before making several quick bites at her leg.

Oliver gives a sign and Blitzen attacks as well, though not as hard as he could have, given they were trying to catch this. OOC: Blitzen used Struggle, AC:4; Flanked Barbroach takes -2 evasion.

Keno smirked as the Pachirisu chittered and tried to bite, crackling grown the jaw with electricity. Maybe it was the water that slowed it down, or Gypsy's reflexive hop backwards, either way, Gypsy was unscathed.
"Great Job Gypsy!"
In order to make things quick, Keno hurls a pokeball at the Pachirisu that has made it's way much closer.

Oh man, Tori really wanted those keys. And if they came with a Pokemon attached, bonus! Besides, sneaking around snatching shinies - this thing was a true kindred spirit. How was the whole "catching Pokemon" thing supposed to work again..? Tori hadn't done any of that since the trial, and had just snuck past any troublesome-looking Pokemon that got in her way. But she at least knew what this one liked. She wasn't sure if she had any keys in her pockets but she did have something new and shiny - maybe it would be good enough? Pulling out her pilfered pocket watch, she held it out and shook it a bit to let the chain jingle enticingly. "Heeeeeeyy little guy," she crooned, continuing to shake the chain as she cautiously approached. "I got something you can add to your collection..."Guile check to attract the keychain 'mon, spending 1 AP for Instinctive Aptitude. Total: 15

Oliver, the barboach doesn't look too good after you hit it a couple times. It responds to the last attack from Blitzen by spitting a gob of mud at the deerling's face.
Barboach used Mud Slap.

It's not very effective.
Accuracy is lowered by -1.
Keno, your ball grabs the squirrel and starts to shake. Unfortunately, it breaks free before it looks like you were about to catch it.
Tori, the pokemon sees you and is wary of your presence. However, when it sees your shiny watch, it seems to float closer to you, reaching out to the object with an arm that looked like it was part of the key ring.1d20

"It's all yours dude, no strings attached." Tori proffered the watch, but slowly pulled a Pokeball out of her pack, trying not to startle the key-thing. "If you wanna stick with me, though, well..." She gave a suggestive shimmy of her backpack, and the whole thing jangled with the promise of pilfered junk treasures. "Well, plenty more where that came from, you get me?" She held out the ball tentatively, testing to see if the 'mon was amenable to the suggestion.
