Barry, you start to follow Keno's example and find the same functions in your phone. Oliver, you don't even know where to begin with your phone's apps on how to do the same thing, so handing it to someone who did seemed to be logical at this point.

"Oh that's neat. There's a search function" Barry says as he punches in all the assistants numbers. With everyone loaded, he turns to Oliver and sees that he is clearly struggling. "Here, I'll get this part." He says as he takes Oliver's Dex. He punches in everyone into Oliver's contacts. He hands it back and says, "All done. Blitzen is clearly ready, I'm headed out. Meet back up here in an hour and we'll see about the battle part." Barry turns to Blitzen and bends at the knees, "Counting on you out there Buddy. You're raring to go. Let's get going." Barry turns towards the door.

For those of you leaving the center, The town an the surrounding neighborhoods are to the north, the entrance to the woods is to the south, the river and what appear to be brown grassy fields are to the west, and a freeway with traffic is to the east.

Tori watched what Barry was doing and copied him on her own device. "Looks like it's you an' me, Keens. I say we head, uh... further into the residential zone? I'm more familiar with urban Pokemon, at least." Sort of. She gestured grandly for him to lead the way outside. "You boys better perform or Keeno'll be really disappointed in you," she laughed.

Oliver pulled his cloak out of his backpack and threw it back on. Then he returned Blitzen and walked up to Barry at the edge of the door. "I was thinking either west or south," he offered the other boy. "You'll probably be reading the map between us, so It's you pick I think."

Barry was confident in his decision to go South until Oliver mentioned West. 'We'd be better off against the water types, and that river may be the local watering hole' Barry thought. 'Maybe West' Barry shook his head. He asked Oliver, "Whatcha after hoss? Water, grass, field? What would ya like? I'm more after a tracker myself. I just assumed the woods or the fields would be better."

John pulls out the 65 dollars and hands it to the shopkeeper. "I'd give ya 250 more for that gold and silver ball if ever you want to sell it." He stated, "I'm a tinkerer of sorts and it caught my fancy. If nothin else I'd like to figure out what its suppose to do."

Keno would have been happy to assist Oliver with the dex functions, but it seemed Barry had it all sorted out.
"Let the games begin!" Keno noted the time as they head out the doors. Tori wanted to stick together, for protection? Keno wsn't sure, but wasnt she the wone who wanted to split up? No matter, he was going to have to get used to the pack mentality, so why not start now?
"Alright Tori, lets head up north, perhaps the barrier or bridge, to the neighpouring town with hold something that fits the bill."
As the depart, Keno put in an effort to raise his hand in a sort of 'good luck, see you later' gesture that may have seems a bit awkward.

Oliver thought about it for a moment. "I think West is good. As for the mon we go after, I don't really mind too much. We're supposed to have a variety of types for the different challenges right? So Flying and Water would probably be good for us."
Then he flashed Barry a grin. "If you're ready, then let's go!"

"Sounds good. Probably have a little more luck next to the local watering hole anyways. We'll head west." Barry said. He looked in his pack to make sure the portable grower was still situated and he found the pocket holding his poke balls. He withdrew two and shoved them in his brown leather jacket pockets. With everything situated, Barry finally left the Center, officially starting his Pokémon journey.

John, the man thought for a moment and said, "Well, I could trade it... if you had a device that is just as rare. I wont settle for anything else!"
Barry and Oliver, you head west off the road, beyond the mowed lawns and into the patches of untouched, brown, dead grass toward the running water of the river. Patches of snow line its banks and cover the cattails and reeds around it.
Tori and Keno, you travel up the road toward the town. The road splits off in several places before reaching the square, with signs marking "Washington", "Jefferson", and "Benjamin" streets.

While Oliver scans around for Pokémon, Barry starts searching around the ground. He's specifically looking for tracks and other signs of Pokémon that have passed through the area recently.
He is also scanning around for traces of herbs, fungus, apricorns, and specifically berries that local Pokémon in the area could use as food sources.

Oliver, you try very hard to look through the murky water running through the wide river before you catch sight of a pokemon in the shallows. It had a thin body with blue scaless skin and zigzag stripes on the sides. Its lips had small whiskers attached and it swam with very small fins. It moved slowly in the cold water.
Barry, your survival skills allow you to find some dried up half-eaten Oran berries with their seeds exposed. Nearby is a tree stump that looks like it was covered in glitter.

Oliver snaps a picture of it with his Pokedex, palming Blitzen's Pokeball for the start of the fight. Slowly he creeps forward, hoping to get within 6 meters of the fishmon.

Barry plucks what's left of the Oran berrys off of the tree. He removes the edible from the seed and pockets the seed for later. It was a type he hadn't taken from the farm so he needed a starting sample anyways. The rest, he held onto to feed to Blitzen or Sitri later.
He looked over the tree stump next. He couldn't deduce what left the bite marks as, being the middle of winter, the fruit of it had grown brown around the marks. The glitter though, he wanted a closer look at.

Barry then noticed that Oliver was creeping closer to the water. He thought that Oliver must have found something by the way he was walking. Barry scanned the area quickly, but wasn't going to make a move until he saw something, or Oliver needed help.

As they headed up the streets, Tori let Keno make small talk and pretended to be interested. Benjamin seemed like as good a street as any to start. For some reason, it made her think of money. She kept a lookout for the kind of spots she knew urban Pokemon might hang out or take shelter. Maybe if she could find something the kid would be interested in, he'd warm up to her a bit...
