Variable let out a cry as the vine hit his side, deciding quickly it was time to move away and support his trainer, he ran on up beside Teresa's opponent, waiting for an order while she was shrugging off the damage from that punch she just received. Compared to the crossbow bolt, that was nothing. Teresa's eyes flicked to the side as she saw Variable stop beside the terrorist, only giving him a simple command. "Support"The Eevee jumped on it's hind legs, giving it's master a helping hand as Teresa commenced a three step attack, her hands pounding against the enemies chest as she shoved with martial might. Eevee used Helping Hand on Teresa Teresa used Arm Thrust AC:4 Roll:8 Hits: 3 Damage: 45 Fighting Physical

Nero grunts lightly as Ryke goes down, unhappy with the cluster of the battle and wishing he could have jumped in the way of the blow, but sadly unable to. He recalls Ryke with a light tap to the pokeball on his side, noting with relief that the Pansear had gone down. That would help him considerably, those flames were killer. Feeling relatively safe in his defensive capabilities now, Nero shifts to position himself between the terrorist who took down Ryke and Eliza, not intending on letting that happen again as he quickly raises his shield. Standard to recall fainted Ryke, shift to move, 1 AP and Swift to Raise Shield

Eliza opens to doors to the hallway, causing Nero to have to do a little shuffling and dodging as the wooden doors are quite large. The first thing she and Nero see are the doors to the room on the opposite side. They can hear sounds of fighting from that door quite clearly, though its a little muffled. The voices she can hear sound dominantly male. "Give up, you've already lost," one voice says, seemingly close to the door. Another replies, however it's not very clearly audible from your position. "...Never give up!" is all you can hear, followed by a loud thump. Up the hallway, there seems to be more noise, though it's far less perceptible. The tall man at this point is no longer amused, but rather looks nervous. "Shoot her, Panpour!" he commands as he continues to chase after Eliza, though he ends up next to the now opened door. The now unarmed man nearly crumbles under Teresa's barrage of blows, but manages to pull himself together to asses the situation. "Help me, you idiots! You too Pansage!" he shouts, as he tries to deal another blow to Teresa. Pansear falls, much to the third man's dismay, though he seems to gain courage from proximity to a comrade and moves around the door to try and stop Nero and Eliza from escaping. Panpour rushes towards his master, before spitting a small concussive blast of water at Eliza, which strikes her in the back. After Variable's blow is dodged, Pansage scrambles over and Scratches at Teresa, trying to get her attention away from his master. T1 hits with Cheap Shot on Nero, for 25 Normal Physical Damage.
T2 hits with Rock Smash on Teresa for 19 Fighting Physical Damage.
T3 hits with Cheap Shot on Nero, for 26 Normal Physical Damage.
Panpour hits with Water Gun on Eliza, for 28 Water Special Damage.
New round!
Pansage hits with Scratch on Teresa for 27 Normal Physical Damage.

Teresa let out a wince at the blow smashing into her, it didn't hurt worse than any other attacks, but the damage was starting to add up, making her feel sluggish. She needed to end this soon, and she had something for that. "End this quick"Variable immediately shot at the man, sailing between his legs, but not actually hitting anything. Variable let out a yip at the man for dodging his attack, and Teresa's face turned into a frown at the sight. This could be bad. Quick Attack AC:2 Roll:1 Miss

As Nero sees the attacks batter Teresa, he grimaces, running over to try and jump in the way of the blow, but halfway there being stopped in his tracks by the residual pain from his earlier burn. He mutters curses under his breath, before in frustration raising his shield and smashing it into the Pansage, pushing the monkey into the table. Roll of 8 vs AC 9 to Intercept Melee. Fail.
Strength! Roll of 4 vs AC 2 23 Normal Physical damage 18 in opposed push contest. Get smashed into table son.
Spending AP to raise shield. Being selfish and keeping it for myself.

Eliza lets out a brief sigh of relief as she finds the corridor empty of threats, but that's short lived as she's shot in the back by high pressure water. It's painful, but she grits her teeth, the specter of safety so tantalizingly close. The other voices worry her a bit, as does the situation when she looks back. "If you guys aren't leaving," she says, with a mix of exasperation and panic, "Just hold on. I'm going to find help." With that, she goes as fast as she can out the door, heedless of the dangers around her, just trying to get to someone, and out of the danger zone. Eliza Sprints to the Stairs.

Teresa's frown deepens as Eliza runs off, she knows that she can at least knock out the target, but it would be safer to wait for confirmation. She grunts as her knee starts looking like it wil give out, before she suddenly snaps up, lifting off the ground an inch or two, as she lands two kick, one foot striking the chest and the other striking his shoulder, which she used to propel herself off of him. She used this opportunity to begin making her way out, giving Variable a simple command. "Cover me"Teresa used Double Kick Hit 1: 18 VS AC 3 Hit 2: 18 VS AC 3 Damage: 38 Fighting Physical

Pansage lets out a pained yelp as Nero forcefully pushes him into the table. Meanwhile, the unarmed man that was locked in combat with Teresa is finally pushed beyond his limits and slumps into unconsciousness. Eliza sprints down the hallway, past the other room, and to the stairs. To her surprise, the door near the bottom of the stairs opens. It's Zayna wearing an expression of worry. This worry only intensifies as she beholds Eliza's form. "Eliza!" She exclaims as she runs up the stairs. "Are you alright? Where is everyone else?!" Instead of waiting for an answer, she pulls you along to see the room, with a solid, but not too tight, grip on your arm. Observing the situation for only a moment, the room brightens for a moment as bursts of psychic energy impact on the two terrorists, leaving them unconscious. Their Pokemon cower in fear. Zayna recalls the Meowstic she had released. "You did very well to hold them off until I returned." Zayna says, gazing at you all. "I'm sorry that I left you to deal with them on your own. I won't give any excuses for that. I should have let you know that there are more League Agents in the building, and that there were more terrorists than just three, but the former were handling the latter, so I believed you mostly safe. Be assured, you will be heavily compensated for your help today." She pauses. "We'll talk more, I'm sure you have a lot of questions, but first allow me to send these off to be questioned." She turns over to the doors. "Chris, you alive?!" The doors to the opposite room open. "Still kicking!" a deep baritone voice replies. "Pick up the trash for me will you? I need to talk to my group." "Gotcha." The doors open. A tall cyborg man with dark skin walks out of the room. He looks at you with a friendly smile as he first picks up the terrorist's Pokeballs, then after connecting a device to them, uses them to recall their Pokemon. He nods at you all, then picks up the terrorists and walks away. "Right," Zayna said. "Let's go somewhere more comfortable. This place is a mess. Please hold on to your questions for now." She leads you out of the building and to a cafe opposite the League Embassy. It seems to be a café called Calem's. "This café is actually owned by a former League Agent. Chris rented the place for the day over a datajack channel. We can talk freely inside, don't worry, it's currently staffed by League personnel from the cafeteria. They know what's above their pay grade." As you entered the café, a warm atmosphere would greet you. The walls were of a red colour, with laminated wooden tables and counters and very soft looking red sofa benches and wooden chairs. It made for a quaint sight. Once you're all seated at a table, Zayna looks at you."Alright, lets start with any questions you might have."

"Zayna! Upstairs! We couldn't-" Eliza starts, but stops as she gets dragged along back to the room. As everything winds down, and the terrorists are taken away, she finally spends a little bit of time to allow herself to relax. Not by much - she's still somewhat on edge - but now that the spectre of imminent death is gone, it's a little bit easier to breathe.
She glances at Rainbow's ball, and softly whispers, "Sorry." Oddly enough for her, she doesn't speak much on the way to the café, instead mostly fidgeting and glancing about nervously. By the time they all get there, she's regained at least some of her usual mood, though. "Very red," she says, glancing about, "I like it." She realizes that she never re-lit her 'tattoos' after the fight, and decides to fix that, letting some of her power shine out into the world through the pattern again. It's comforting, something that she'd done ever since learning she could do it as a young child.
"So, uh," Eliza ventures, once everyone's settled, and the subject of questions is brought up, "What exactly did those people want, specifically? And are we likely to be in danger again from them? Because they seemed to have no qualms about killing us or our 'mon..."

Teresa blinked in confusion in the moments that came as the trainers were knocked unconscious. The confusion was quickly remedied as she surveyed the room for the reason, her eyes lying on the Meowstic as it was returned to it's ball. Zayna had returned, that was good, hopefully she had subdued the man on the Honchkrow. She quickly wiped those thoughts away, before grabbing Variable's ball, returning him in a quick fashion. She would visit a Pokemon Center later, her own injuries weren't great, but they were livable, provided they didn't suffer another assault.
Teresa noted Zayna's words in silence, and followed after in that way as well. The choice of venue was strange, at least for official business, but as Zayna explained all the precautions they had taken, it became clear why. Eliza made some comment about the color, and Teresa paid some vague amount of attention to it while she took a seat, crossing her arms over her chest, and her left leg over her right. She sat in silence as Eliza asked the first round of questions, making a mental not about one to ask later.

Nero blinks as the remaining opponents suddenly fall, breathing heavily. He takes a moment to close his eyes and collect his thoughts, regulating his breath and replaying the battle in his mind, pushing away any emotions tied to the memories, categorizing them for further review, and filing them away until he had time to reflect and think on them. Then, he slings his shield back over his shoulder, wincing slightly from where the flames had burned through his hoodie and shirt on his left arm, but otherwise ignoring the injury.
In the cafe, Nero gives his team members a cursory glance, frowning at the amount of damage they had taken, distinctly feeling like he had failed. Well, there would be time to improve in the future. Beyond that, his focus was purely on Zayna, and the moment he has a chance to speak, he takes it. "The only thing I'm worried about right now is your daughter and her group. Are they alright?"

Zayna nods at Nero, some relief surfacing in her expression. "They're fine. Turns out the terrorists were rather short staffed and sent their lowest of the low to keep watch over Aisha and her team. They managed to break out on their own and meet me halfway after I dealt with my opponent. Speaking of the terrorists, there is a story behind them. First of all though I forgot to give you these." She hands over six of what look like square patches, giving two to each of you. "Take off the cover and apply one to your skin, the other is for your Pokemon. They contain nanomachines that will speed up the rate at which your body heals. Don't worry they're tried and tested." Zayna gives a slight grin, "People tend to think the corps are so far beyond the League when it comes to technology. They seem to forget or ignore that the medical technology used by our Pokemon Centers is developed by the League itself." Zayna's grin turns wry, "That said, all this tech is expensive, which is why Pokemon Centers are no longer free, as they used to be in the past." "Anyway," she turns serious once more. "These terrorists are not completely unknown to us, but they haven't acted this aggressively before. You may not be aware that among the various rebel factions, there is one that is against the League itself. This is a development two decades in the making. The Indigo War created a lot of hate for the League back in 2017, but it was mostly between the people of Kanto and Johto. As time went on however, this blame evolved and turned upon the League itself. Due to the structure of regions and their cities, an influx of refugees meant that space became tight within cities, yet due to the large numbers of Pokemon, including some very powerful ones living in the wilderness around most cities, expanding is not feasible. This is ignoring the fact that we have actual gods of Nature running around attacking people who they see as interfering with the environment. Despite the League doing what it can, many refugees struggled to find homes, leading to the creation of slums and shantytowns. These refugees, their offspring and their sympathizers all hate the League with a passion and we believe that it is these people that have rallied under the cause of this Uncrowned King. We are currently investigating who this Uncrowned King could be, but searches have come up blank so far." "From what we have learned in today's encounters with the terrorists, and yes, this wasn't the only place they attacked, their desire is for the League to cede territory to them, like we did with the corps." Zayna sighs. "It looks like we're entering dark times again and it seems like the Uncrowned King isn't the end of it. There have been repeated sightings of two different motifs, one of which is a pink skull related to hacker and runner activity, while the other is a red blade with yet unknown meaning. Be on your guard if you encounter these." She gives you all a serious look. "With all that said, I am required to make you aware that as official Trainers, you are very likely to encounter these dangers on your journey, not just because you're actually travelling everywhere, but also because we might ask one of you to. Nero, your contract with the League doesn't force you to be a front line fighter, but you are required to follow orders and perhaps investigate certain things that we deem to be suitable for your level. If this is going to get ugly, we'll need everyone we've got. Eliza, Teresa, your contracts exempt you from having to follow these orders to a certain degree, however be assured that you will be rewarded too if you decide to help your teammate. I should also let you know that abandoning your teammate in a time of need tends to lead to disbanding of groups, which usually means that the Trainer journey ends there. Don't feel as if Nero is the only one however, Cephalon and Missingno both may also give you small missions from time to time." Your League Agent looks at you, her expression slightly softer, but still serious. "Do you have any further questions?" You have each gained 2x Nano Patches.
Nano Patches are applied as Extended Actions on Pokémon or Trainers. Nano Patches last for 4 hours; while applied, they double the Natural Healing Rate of Pokémon or Trainers, meaning a Pokémon or Trainer will heal 1/8th of their Hit Points per half hour. In addition to this, Nano Patches immediately heal 1/8th of their hit points, one Injury and another at the end of their duration. This counts against the limit of Injuries that can be healed within a day.

"Can't think of anything off the top of my head right now," Eliza says, accepting the patches. She still needs to process all this... everything. "Actually... if we do have League-related questions in the future, where or how should we ask to get what we need to know?" She starts getting distracted a little bit by the patches, peering at them... even though she knows, logically, nano means everything's too small to see. Doesn't stop her from trying, though.

Teresa accepted the patch, applying one to herself first, then storing the other away inside one of her pockets. Variable hadn't really accrued that much damage in the earlier fight, simple rest would heal most of the damage. The mention of each of them receiving requests made sense, she was still a junior executive, even if she was away for this. She probably would even be given paperwork to fill out, an annoying task, considering that she would be on the road.
Her question had been asked by Nero, so she shook her head when Zayna asked if their were further questions. The other two seemed competent enough in the question department, no reason to interfere with what progress they've made.

Nero listens intently to Zayna, relief flashing over his face as he hears that she's safe. "Thank goodness, I was worried. If she and her group were strong enough to fight their way through a group of terrorists sent to kidnap them, I'm impressed! Might have to meet her sometime."
He listens closely as she describes the various new troublemakers in the region, making sure to put them on his mental list of "trouble to watch out for." He could understand the plight of the refugees from the Johto/Kanto war, and their frustrations made sense, but, change through violent force was never the answer. It just lead to more violence, more people getting hurt. Answers aren't as simple as people liked to believe.
As Zayna restates parts of his contract, Nero grins, lightly tapping his shield. "Well, if you did send me to the frontlines, I wouldn't complain too much anyways. Investigating trouble and making a difference in the world is the whole reason I joined the league anyways, so send as many things my way as you want."
He takes the patches with a smile and a quick thanks, putting them both into his bag for now. He'd probably use one on Ryke later when he gets the chance, but releasing a fainted pokemon in the middle of a cafe just didn't quite feel right, even if he was sure no one would mind. "Don't think I have any questions! I'd ask if pokemon centers allow you to build up a tab, but I'm sure I can scrounge up some money sometime before I need to use a center, so I should be fine."

Zayna smiles at Eliza. "Good question. The answer lies with these." With a telekinetic pull, three devices are placed in front of you. "These are your new Pokedexes. They might not have all of the functions of Lysandre Labs' Holo Casters, but they're pretty close, functioning as any smart phone might, allowing you to interface with the Net, in addition to having advanced camera and image recognition functions. Using a Pokédex' scanner, Pokémon can be identified, which reveals the average height and weight of the species, Moves the species can learn naturally and brief facts about its typical behaviour. I've keyed my number into them, so whenever you want to contact me, you can use these to open a connection local to the Pokedex, or your datajack. I can also put you through to other people in the League infrastructure, if need be."
"Beyond that however, I'm based here in Aquacorde, so if you want to see me in person, you'll have to return here."
She turns to Nero, "According to Aisha, they were ambushed with Dream Mist, which was what allowed them to be taken so easily. The group that kidnapped them may not be quite as powerful as you imagine. I assume you intend to rest before heading out of Aquacorde? In that case it's almost guaranteed that you will meet Aisha and her team. I've taken the liberty of booking rooms in one of the better Trainer hostels for the three of you, which will last until the end of the week, or when you decide to leave. Aisha's team will be staying on the very same floor as you. I've made a note about the address in your Pokedexes, so the map function should tell you how to get there."
"Pokemon Centers do indeed allow credit, however we're quite strict when it comes to paying that back. If it's not paid back, which can be done at any Pokemon Center, within a week, your tab will begin to accrue interest. If the resulting bill isn't paid after a month, your Trainer license will be temporarily voided, meaning you will have to find ways other than battling to gain the capital to pay the bill, which isn't especially hard most of the time. Generally, taking loans isn't recommended. Instead, most Trainers who don't manage to get money together will wait for natural healing to take care of their problems. There is often plenty to do in the meantime other than battling anyway."
Zayna looks at you all, smiling warmly. "I believe that is all for this briefing. Feel free to take your leave whenever you're ready, or help yourself to a meal or drink if you like. They'll put it on my tab. I need to leave however, there's still a lot to sort out due to this mess."
With that, she got up. A man walked in from the back of the café, followed by more people who manned the tills. As Zayna waves goodbye, a waiter approaches you. "Would you like to order something?" He holds out three menus.

Teresa takes the Pokedex before sliding it inside her pocket. She gave Zayna a nod in thanks for handing them the devices, letting the older woman address the other two's questions. Teresa listened, obviously, but her interest was waning before the woman brought up the topic of her daughter. Teresa made note that she wanted to meet this Aisha, if only because she was curious what Zayna's progeny was like.
As Zayna brought the meeting to a close, Teresa offered the official a nod and an attempt at a smile back. It looked more like she was in pain, her eyebrows tensed as they were, with her eyes closed tight. After giving a half-hearted attempt at a wave, Teresa quickly resumed her normal look, her face relaxing into it's apathetic front. The changes were both so sudden you would feel whiplash if you were staring intently at her face.
With Zayna gone and only a waiter and her two new companions, it was apparent that Teresa would actually need to talk...but first. "I would like a grande vanilla café latte with skim milk, a cinnamon stick, and a touch of blueberry syrup, if you don't have that then I'll turn down the offer" She said it all in a dead tone, mostly just listing an order that her father often made. She had drunk it herself plenty of times, but while it was nice it was mostly used as a way for her to actually break the ice of her silent charade. The other two probably needed a reminder that she was there anyways.
Regardless of that, she turned to look at her new partners. "We introduced ourselves earlier, but for the sake of us actually having a conversation, I am Teresa Talcott, pleasure to make your acquaintance" Her words were lilted, as she was trying to sound more approachable though it came off more as she was annoyed and acting cheerful.

"Thank you," Eliza says, as she receives the PokéDex, already marvelling at all Zayna says it could do. "And I'll make sure to give you a buzz if anything comes up." She remains fiddling with her new gadget until being interrupted by a waiter.
"Huh? Uh, oh." She thinks for a moment. "Um, just a small bowl of fruit or berries or something like that, please, if you have it." She still doesn't have too much of an appetite after the events of a few minutes ago, but a small snack might be good. "And just a glass of water, please."
Speaking of... after the waiter departs, she releases Rainbow onto her lap, the fairy still battered and knocked out from the fighting. "I'm sorry..." she repeats, softly, before rooting around in her bag for one of many small bottles of water enriched with potion, and begins to slowly trickle some down the Togetic's throat.
She doesn't respond to Teresa until the bottle is quaffed, before cradling the fairy in her arms and looking up at last. "You're sure it's a pleasure?" she asks, teasingly. "The fact that you sound like having a conversation is the last thing you want to do doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. But, okay, let's get you off that script, and out of the office. Tell me something about yourself that isn't related to your job in any way, 'kay? Then you ask me something." She glances over at Nero. "You can join in on this, too."

Nero takes the pokedex with a smile and messes with it for just a few moments before putting it away for now. There would be time to play with it later. As Zayna actually goes into the depth of the center credit system, Nero's eyes widen a bit in surprise, before a wry grin forms on his face. That'd teach him to ask a question as a joke. As Zayna leaves, he gives her a friendly wave and a grin, before turning his attention to the waiter. "I'll be honest, I'm mainly a drip coffee sort of guy, but let's go with a mocha, I suppose. As for food, I'm a bit starving right now, so could I have 3 breakfast sandwiches? I'm not too picky on the specifics, so I'll just leave that up to you."
As Teresa reintroduces herself, he follows Eliza's lead, releasing Ryke into his lap and slapping one of the nano-patches on his forehead. Then, he tucks Ryke underneath his chair in a curled up ball, placing his shield protectively over top the pup.
He glances at Eliza and gives her a light smile, speaking up with a slightly chastising tone. "Eliza, maybe lay off pointing out that she's from a corp every few minutes? Situations like this are awkward no matter what you do, you tend to lean into the structures you're used to." He then shifts his focus to Teresa. "I will admit I'm curious to get to know a bit more about you too, though. My question will be... well, I guess it's two questions. What's your favorite color, and what's your favorite scent?"

Teresa's eyes stare into Eliza's as she confronts her on her own lack of conversational skills. She already knew she was bad, but being asked about things she does outside of work...she wasn't really prepared for that. What did she enjoy outside of work? At first thought she wanted to say taking care of Variable, but... that was work. Everything she technically cared about, could relate, directly or indirectly to her job. ...was she what people would call a workaholic?
Nero provided her a nice distraction from her own mental dilemma, simple questions with easier answers. "Brown, like an Eevee's fur, and the scent of a newborn" She did remember what Variable smelled like that day, yes, there were chemicals and metals interfering with it, but she can remember the first time she held Variable in her arms. It actually made her lips tilt upwards just a little. Talking about Variable was an easy topic. "As for Eliza's question, nothing. Technically everything I enjoy is covered by my work, and caring for Variable falls under my job, even if only technically."
She gave her best side eye to Eliza as she answered her question, but quickly turned her head to face Nero. "How do you feel about Designer Children?" She posed it with no caution, knowing that the topic would be brought up at some point, best to rip the bandage off now than later. She then gave another glance at Eliza, in an attempt to make it clear the question was directed at her as well.
