"No." Iga corrected the man. "We were assigned to correct these events, if we understand our... benefactor." Sharing a look with Ritsuko, it dawned on him. "Only the children, and this man, have shown any indication of concern for our strange appearance and presence. It in itself is a strange thing, and his story merits investigation."

Ritsuko tries to follow along with the man's story, but it is quite strange. With nothing else to really go on...."Hmmm...Despite how crazy the story is, and this being the only person with a perceivable problem plaguing the town, this might be our only lead. I'm sure the rest of you feel the same?" She looks to the shaken man. "Is it possible to show us this river you spoke of?"

Approaching in the second half of the man's statement, Lucas turns a little pale upon hearing the man's suspicion about the town's water but keeps his worry to himself. Instead, he nods in agreement with Iga and Ritsuko, adding in his own suggestion. "Shouldn't we investigate the reservoir first? If he's right and the townspeople are acting weird because of the water they've been drinking, that's the source of what's happening."

Superbia wanders up as Lucas began talking "Huh, water? Less exciting than an angry Faery Queen and her accursed child. But also I'm sure it's much more likely for us to be able to fix it"
He flourishes his short cape before offering a hand towards the man "We shall clear this reserve of whatever ails it, and then you can go back to drinking water and..." He sniffs for a moment "Bathing"

"Oh, you'd do that?" The man sighs in relief. "Thank you. I was beginning to think I was crazy. And when you showed up looking like that... well, it just made me think the worst."
He picks up his bags, the one still dripping with what Lucas recognizes as soda. "Hopefully it means I can stop drinking these. I like soft drinks as much as anyone... but, after a while, you want something else. I didn't realize how much I've wanted water since I couldn't risk it."
"As for the river?" He points further away from the direction you came in from. "Right that way. You can't possibly miss it. It's huge - and also how we get all our shipments. Town was built on the edge and just expanded from there. Both it and the reservoir come from the same place, so if you want the latter, just follow it upstream anyways."

"No, sorry for scaring you, monsieur," Lucas politely apologizes to the man, "Thanks for telling us what's been happening. We'll be on our way now." With that, Lucas starts quickly walking away from the man, in the direction that he pointed. Although aware that it might look like he's trying to escape the conversation, it's really just because he's feeling anxious about the potential effects of the town's water, especially considering earlier. Thinking about it, there are similarities to the children's tale, seeing that many of the townspeople have been bewitched and are being slowly taken, albeit into the river instead of the forest. Then a thought strikes him, though he immediately thinks it's a little silly. Still, he voices his theory. "What if the queen moved?"

Superbia shrugged "From a forest to a bunch of water is a pretty big difference in location. I don't know many creatures that would make the switch like that. But I guess crazier things have happened"
A water monster would be nicer to fight, the Demon reflected to himself. Faeries always seemed to come out unharmed when he hit them with any sort of mana infused strike, his natural element being useless against them.
"What do we do if we don't notice anything at either the river or the reservoir and that man really was just touched in the mind?"

"Hmmm...We'll have to look over that reservoir thoroughly, and maybe stake it out for a day or two. If in fact there is nothing of interest at said reservoir, we will be coming back for this man as he will have suspiciously lead us on a wild goose chase. After that...I guess we explore the town a bit more. I'm not sure since we barely have anything to go on."

"Ritsuko is correct." Iga stated plainly. "The only alternatives available to us is to continue to question the townsfolk, which forfeits our element of surprise, or to scour the water ourselves which poses the greater risk. We should search without entering, or consuming the water for now." He prompted.

Lucas hesitates for a moment while looking at the cup of lemonade he's been holding onto for a while before finally murmuring, "It's a little too late for that..."

Iga reached a hand behind himself and groped at the air at the small of his back for a moment. "It cannot be helped then, know that should you lose control of yourself I will make your death as quick and painless as possible." He tried to make it sound as though it were a comfort, but it certainly came off as a mixed threat.

Lucas stays in stunned silence for a moment, processing the heaviness of Iga's promise and threat, then swallows and smiles apologetically. "I'll hold you to that, monsieur." At that, he raises the lemonade to his lips and throws it back, almost choking because of how quickly he gulps it down. "At least it tastes good," he laughs ruefully as he clenches the empty cup in his hand. Is he sorry? A little. But it might lead to answers faster. "Let's go. I don't know how much longer I have."

Superbia rolled his eyes "Please, we didn't drink the water on its own. The little alchemist mixed it with other reagents. Why else would it have tasted like a potion and filled me with energy?"
"But yes, let's get going. The sooner we take care of this, the sooner we can find out a way out of here perhaps"

Leaving the man behind to pick up his bags and figure out what to do, the group heads in the indicated direction, moving through the heart of town. Comparatively, it's relatively bustling, though still people seem to pay them no particular heed.
The river itself is unmistakable once they reach an area of the city overlooking the banks. It's enormous, with enough room for a decent sized port built on the city side. On the other side is what appears to be farmland, with a bridge to the other side further upstream. About midway between the bridge and the port appears to be a bit of a bend in the river causing a beach, though it seems to be fairly empty. There're a fair number of people around elsewhere, mostly clustered around the port area, looking to be in the process of unloading boxes of stuff from what the group can tell from this distance. Investigating anything in particular will require getting closer, though.

Iga observes the comings and goings at the docks from the distance they've settled. This manner of transporting goods was not unfamiliar to him. "This being's intent is not the death of these people, I do not believe their imports are worth inspecting. Doing so would rule out another possibility, however." The man stoically considered the river's currents for a moment, and it's embankments. "In muddied ground, tracks remain for a long time. We should search for markers of a group of people remaining waterside, and begin exploring that section of river in earnest."

Superbia shrugged "Scouting has never been my strong suit, so I'll defer to your expertise on this Iga."
He pulled out his book and looked at it for a moment before placing it back and turning to Lucas "You said that the Grow-Lithe that Iga has is often used as a partner with your police forces? Are they only good for battle or are they kept for other reasons? I know I would often include hounds in my police forces for their excellent tracking abilities. If this Grow-Lithe can do something similar, then it may be useful to bring out when we get closer"

Lucas is actually rather impressed by the size of the area, though maybe he shouldn't have been so surprised, considering the town's name had to come from somewhere. Regardless, he's caught a little off guard when Superbia asks his question. "Huh? Oh, yeah, that's actually the main reason why dog pokemon are kept by officers. The Growlithe should definitely help here. You can release it by pressing the button on the pokeball again," he explains to Iga. As Lucas peers down to the beach that Iga wants to investigate, the boy comments, "It's weird not seeing any pokemon around town. A large river like this would normally attract lots of Water types. Maybe some Grass types, too." In fact, he's not sure if he's seen any small creatures around.

Ritsuko looks over the area, and rubs her chin. She wasn't too familiar with investigating a big open space, and preferred dungeon delving. She puts her hand to her brow, and stares out at the water...looks like water from where she is standing. "The man talked about suspecting the water. Perhaps taking a sample, and observing it over time is a possible idea. People disappearing, and lights....That I can't seem to wrap my mind around. I suggest we walk up and down the water to find any clues we can like the tracks Iga mentioned. We have to keep our eyes peeled for these lights, and possibly those people just in case." She points to the people near the water.

The group makes their way down from the overlook, easily finding a set of steps that brings them down to the level of the bank, and quickly making their way to the beach and river itself. While further out it seems to be faster, the water near the sandbar is fairly languid, slowly winding its way past the soft sand. A cursory glance doesn't really note anything amiss as you approach the water, but there are clear signs of activity on the beach - people have been here. Perception, Intuition and Survival checks, please.

Iga surveyed the shores of Rivertown's river with his usual prolonged silence, before gently retrieving the Pokeball from his sash. Putting pressure on the halves and it broke open at the seams, the strange orange dog appearing at his flank once more. This was going to take some getting used to. He knelt in front of the dog against his better judgement, resting a palm on it's brow. "Honored Okami-Inu, seek the scent of one not-here. It will not be of the earth." To his surprise, the animal put it's nose to the ground and began to search in earnest.
