Though Lucas could probably leave the investigation to Iga, the boy figures another pair of eyes or two wouldn't hurt. After a little debate with himself, he reaches into his pocket and tosses up his pokeball, releasing the owl pokemon from earlier into flight. Preparing for the worst response, Lucas hesitantly and quietly asks it, "I know you don't like me, but can you search the riverbank from the sky and signal if something looks off?" As somewhat expected, the bird looks apathetically at him, but then flies up higher, gliding back and forth around the specified area. As for Lucas, he takes special attention to the direction of the tracks left on the banks. If what the man said was true, then they would only head towards the river with none leaving. Lucas's skill check result: Perception - 15 Intuition (after Skill Monkey) - 13 Survival - 5
Rowlet's skill check result: Perception - 11

Superbia glanced around the waterfront before settling his gaze on the newly summoned Pokemon " Well, let's hope these things are normal here, since we're just sending them out and about" He thought of releasing his, but shook his head "T hough I don't know about releasing my minion yet. It seemed to be more combative than investigative. And besides, it's still just got that crude stick as a club" He sneered, hoping that he could find a better weapon at some point for it, something that would show his status more. Perception was an 11
Intuition was a 5
Survival was a 10

Ritsuko definitely felt out of her element when it came to investigations. She was a warrior, and combat just seemed more natural. Critical thinking, and investigations were left to....Painful memories were quickly pushed into the back of her mind, and she walked along the beach looking for anything that could be a clue. She also decided to keep her own creature away in the book. It didn't seem like the brightest one among these strange beings.
Perception: 6
Intuition: 7
Survival: 5

Iga's dog sniffs around for a little bit... and then seems to look up with a little confusion, before turning back to the ground and slowly advancing towards the water. As Iga looks out towards the river himself, he notices a rainbow sheen atop a patch of the river, and gets a little foreboding feel, as does Lucas as he gazes outwards, under where his owl's flying.
Neither Ritsuko or Superbia notice terribly much out of the ordinary, as far as they can tell - besides their own circumstances, of course - but Superbia does note that the footprints that he can place on the sandbar seem to be a lot softer and more worn than their own current ones, as though they'd been washed over by the tide.

Iga withdraws a step, the lines in his face deepening with intense concentration. "I do not know how one combats a river, but with Yokai, reflective surfaces often act as gateways. We are where we should be, now it is a matter of discovering the safest means to proceed..." Searching the bank for a stone, he lobbed it into the oddly pearlescent patch of water. "The ripe, frantic man we dealt with spoke of people simply walking into the water."

Superbia looked at the footprints as Iga spoke, before pointing them out "It seems that there were other people out here, but it looks like the tide has come in since then, and washed up the tracks a bit. So I would say that the people did what the man said, and just walked out here." He went silent for a moment and placed a hand on his chin before leaning down and inspecting the tracks more "Unless the tide goes down even further and it opens some sort of path? I've seen fortresses that rely on such things"

"These people haven't cared about what's normal here so far. I don't think bringing out our pokemon will change their minds," Lucas quietly remarks before looking back at the shimmering water nervously. A single patch of running water couldn't be rainbow-colored like that for any natural or man-made reason that he knows of. Cautiously stepping back from the river's edge, he waves for his owl and calls out, "Hey, um, you can come back now." Even though it appears to ignore him again and continues to fly around for a moment, which discourages Lucas, the tawny bird eventually soars back and lands elegantly on his right arm, its tiny talons uncomfortably pricking his bare skin. "Ow! Uh, I guess that wasn't a good idea. And... I guess I should name you," he comments to the small bird as it aloofly preens its wings. "... You don't care, do you?" Lucas sighs, "Then we'll go with Seraphine. Maybe it's too long, but I think it fits a graceful flier like you." It glances at him with a little acknowledgement at this, at least, but quickly goes back to minding its own business.

Ritsuko sighs as these tracks in the sand could be from anyone, and from anytime. She rejoins the others, and puts her hands against her lower back. "Nothing seems out of the ordinary her on the shore." She peers out at the water again, and might see something...Some of the others are seeing something in the water. She tippy toes, and squints. "Does the water...seem any different to you guys?"

Iga's rock strikes true, and it hits the peculiar patch of water, sinking beneath the surface with a ripple... but it seems wrong, somehow. Both the stone sinking and the ripple that emerge seem a little bit slower than one would expect. It does seem to trigger something, though, as the patch begins to slowly drift - against the current - towards the shore. If you'd not noticed it before, you probably couldn't even tell it was there. Casting your gaze about, it seems as though there are a few other similar patches on the water doing the same thing. Put yourselves on the map anywhere on the Beach, with or without Pokémon. Map

"Maybe throwing a rock at that spot wasn't the best idea..." Lucas gulps as he darts his eyes between the now-multiple rainbow patches of water that are approaching them. Yep, definitely far beyond normal now. While uneasily fidgeting with the hem of his shirt, he backs up even farther from the river, honestly more than ready to take off at the first sign of trouble. If this were happening back home, it would probably just be some water pokemon, and that he could handle. But being in an unfamiliar town in an unfamiliar world with something bizarre happening that he doesn't understand, it's all taking a toll on his nerves.

Ritsuko backs up from the water as the appears to be something moving in it. This may be trouble, and this would be as good a time as any to see how their creature companions fair. The tiny brown lizard blinks as it takes in its new surroundings, and looks up at Ritsuko. "Umm...Danger approaches. Will you fight with...me?" The creature tilts its head, and turns to the things approaching from the water. "A 'Yes,' I presume." As Ritsuko gripped her sword handle, she wondered if this creature of hers needed a name...A thought for later.

Superbia smiled wide and took a few steps towards the water, cracking his knuckles before holding his arms out wide "Wonderful. Come for me Faeries, and tremble in fear once you realize how doomed you are!"
With an overly exaggerated snap, the Demon Lord reaches down and pulls out the Pokeball, holding it in front of himself "And tremble all the harder at the sight of my mighty Minion!" Unfortunately Superbia hadn't been paying super close when Lucas was explaining how Pokeballs worked. After a moment of holding it out with a smug look, Superbia began to shake the ball "Out! Come out! I release the bonds of your confinement to the apple!" Thankfully as he was talking and shaking the ball, his finger hit the button and released the Timburr directly ahead of him

Iga retreated from the water's edge slowly, beckoning the hound to follow after him. "This is what we were brought here for, now is not the time for hesitation or cowardice. Stay clear of the water's edge if you can." His hands formed the gestures for 'air' 'emptiness' and 'self', his outline blurring before he stood amidst afterimages of himself.
(Iga retreats and uses Double Team)

After seeing everyone else ready themselves for a conflict, Lucas freezes at Iga's assertion. He's always been a coward. He can't do anything about it, because he's weak. The only time he can stand his ground is when... he isn't being himself. With that state of mind, he remembers his mask, the one given to him just before all of this ever happened. Shaking off Seraphine from his arm and removing his hood, Lucas pulls it out of his backpack and puts it on with closed eyes and a deep breath.
When the boy opens his golden eyes back up a second later, they almost appear to surge with unbridled energy. Preparing for a fight... no, a pokemon battle, he recalls Seraphine into her pokeball with a beam of light and readies himself for the inevitable. But first, he needs to warn the others. "Iga, Ritsuko! Your pokemon aren't good around water! Be careful!"
(Lucas spends Kid's Lemonade food buff for +2 Speed CS, raising his current Speed to 25)

The group prepares as the floating slicks approach the beach. Upon reaching the sand, the patches... just keep going, beginning to coalesce some semblance of shape as they rise from the sand, blue oily forms building into mounds with arms and hungry looking mouths. Good news, everyone gets to go before the foes. Iga's already used his Standard, but everything else can be taken.

"I'll take the lead!" There are four opponents after all, so it'd be ideal for everyone to focus on one each. In that case, the one who needs the most support is Superbia! Lucas winds up his right arm and throws his pokeball with a spin, curving the direction slightly to the right before the device releases his pokemon into the air and drops into the sand. "Seraphine, go! Use..." The boy falters for a moment, but recovers swiftly. "Use a grass attack!" Despite the vague order, the owl seems to understand and creates a flurry of leaves to barrage the liquid "creature" in front of it. Lucas: - Shift Action: Release Seraphine (temporarily at 15 initiative) - Standard Action: Agility Training [Orders] on Seraphine (temporarily at 19 initiative, +1 movement capabilities)
Seraphine: - Shift Action: None - Standard Action: Leafage at Slick #3 (two squares above where Seraphine was released) * Accuracy Roll: 16 vs AC 2 (ignores non-stat Evasion and accuracy penalties via Keen Eye) * 23 Grass Physical damage (no effects)

Ritsuko draws her blade as the blue slime emerge from the sea. "Ok then...Hey umm....C-Czar?...Follow me, and attack!" Ritsuko advances on the slime, and thrusts her fine blade hoping to pierce its sludgy self. The newly named Czar watches, and quickly follows after its owner. Embers escape its maw as it tries to deliver a fiery bite.
Ritsuko:
- Shift 3 (P11--->P8) -Wounding Strike vs Slick 4 -AC 2 vs 5 -The target loses a Tick of Hit Points. -37 Norm Phys
Czar:
- Shift 2 (Q11--->Q9) - Fire fang vs slick 4 * AC 3 vs 4 * 35 Fire Physical damage

Superbia held a hand out in front of himself and chanted a few demonic words as a purple aura flared up around him before swiping his hand towards his Timburr and shouting " Harden like the walls of a mighty castle, and prepare for the onslaught of the enemy. Now, Minion, Brace For Impact!" The energy then moves from his hand and infuses with the Pokemon, which looks sturdier as it turns towards the enemy and pulls out its makeshift club and swings it through the air a few times. The Demon Lord then turns his attention back to the creature in front of him, the one not bothered by Lucas and the Owl and holds his hand out, a chain of purple energy appearing tipped with the head of a serpent. With a gesture the chain serpent flew from his hand and began to wrap around the creature " Now, I offer you two options. Beg for mercy" The chain seems to tighten as Superbia's energy flares up " Or face my wrath" Superbia is binding Brace for Impact on Minion as his Standard and using Regal Challenge on the Slick that Lucas left alone, asking for either Deference or Defiance.
Minion is using Focus Energy to get Pumped and also gets 5 DR because of Brace for Impact
Both are still at init 5

"Keep from the water then my companion, and fight as you can." Iga ordered the Growlithe, holding his ground. To his surprise, it got as close as it was willing and breathed a small blast of fire. "Ch... These creatures are more than you let on Lucas."
(Iga acts on 15, Growlithe attacks the nearest Slick with Ember on 11)

Seraphine's leaves seem to do a surprisingly good job at disturbing the cohesiveness of the slicks, it seems... though they seem to seal up again relatively rapidly. The other companions, however, seem to be... rather less than effective, with the dinosaur missing entirely, and Iga's dog's attack seeming to mostly produce a fair bit of steam. Ritsuko seems to be the most effective, though she discovers that slicing is probably a fair bit more effective than her initial thrust. The being lets out what seems to be a shrill signal of distress at that, though, which seems to attract the attention of the nearest other slick. Superbia's challenge seems to dissuade the one nearest to him momentarily... though it doesn't seem to stop it reciprocating with a forceful jet of water, an act mirrored by its lookalikes - one striking at the Growlithe, the other two teaming up on Ritsuko - the one Seraphine attacked slowly oozing over to aid its companion. It seems that these creatures are a little more dangerous than they first appeared... Rowlett hits with Leafage. It's super effective! Growlithe hits with Ember. It's not very effective. Ritsuko hits with Wounding Strike, causing 2 injuries. Slick 2 shows Deference. Tyrunt misses with Fire Fang. Growlithe takes 31 damage and 2 injuries from Water Gun. Superbia takes 35 damage and 2 injuries from Water Gun. A critical hit! Ritsuko takes 21 damage from Water Gun. Ritsuko takes 19 damage and an injury from Water Gun.
