Lucas leads the way without a word of complaint, though he's secretly uneasy about it, so when they finally enter the heart of the town, he relaxes a little at the somewhat-familiar sight. It helps that no one actually seems to be disturbed by the two horned members of the group, too. For now, maybe they can get away with not explaining who they are and why they're here. Turning to the others, Lucas makes a quiet proposal. "Mon- I mean, Iga, you're interested in the clock tower, right? I think we can climb up to the top to get a better view of the town; we might even see where the problem is. Then again, it might not be open to the public..." As the boy second-guesses his idea, he takes a look at each of the different businesses, wondering if going into any of them would be worthwhile.

Ritsuko looks at her surroundings, and taps her chin. It seems to be just a normal town, and filled with normal citizens. "The tower is an option...Perhaps there is a tavern where some information could get collected." What did their cryptic instructions even want from them at this point?

Superbia smiled when Lucas mentioned the Clock Tower being off limits "Oh, I'm sure we'll have no difficulty getting in. Climbing to a high point is a good idea, though I can see a tavern being a good place to get info from the commoners as well. Though, I'm still not sure it's the best of ideas for me and Ritsuko to head into a crowded place"

"Understood, I will continue with my search in earnest." Iga gave Lucas the smallest bow, a bend at the waist to arch the shoulders and head forward in a small sign of respect, arms at his side. Discussion concluded, he began to move towards the clock tower in a casual manner that would have blended in far better if not for his foreign garb.

Superbia's worries about him and Ritsuko seem to be relatively unwarranted as the group moves deeper into town, approaching the clock tower. Getting closer, it seems as though the building from which the tower is sprouting from is also somewhat sizeable. Or, at least a little more grandiose looking than most of the buildings you've seen so far.
However, before the group can get terribly close to the building, they're rudely interrupted by a sudden yelling from across the street. Looking to see where it came from, there's a young man walking down on of the cross-streets with some bags in hand. He's looking directly at the group, and has, even from this distance, a distinct look of terror on his face, compounded as he realizes that you've seen him.

Ritsuko jumps when she hears yelling. She instinctively puts a hand on her sword, and spins around to the source. She raises an eyebrow at the screaming, frightened man, and looks around at the others. "U-Uuuhhh....H-He's screaming...at us right?"

Superbia frowned at the mans reaction before turning to the group "Fantastic, one of the locals has noticed us. Yes Ritsuko, I do think he's shouting at us. Should we do something about it?" He sort of shrugs his shoulders and cracks his neck a little as he turns towards the man.

As the group walks toward the tower, Lucas takes a little time to analyze the building that the structure is sprouting from. It must be an important place, if it's that much bigger than the other places around. However, the sudden yelling shocks Lucas into high alert, his heart pounding wildly as the boy whirls around to meet the terrified look on the man's face. For a moment, Lucas felt frozen in place, but when he hears Superbia's subtle suggestion, the boy snaps out of it to whisper in a panic, "You aren't going to start a fight with him, are you? What if we get thrown out of town?

"The only one to notice we are out of place. He must be too." With what little said that he needed to, Iga pulled his scarf up over his face out of reflex and bolted through the crowd towards the man. More attention then their little collective would've liked had already been drawn to them, now was the time for action with his perceived cover blown.

As Iga begins to rush towards the man, he freezes for a moment before turning and hurrying back the way he came. There's a clinking sound coming from his bags, and they seem to be slowing him down somewhat. It's likely that, should Iga keep up the pursuit, he'll quickly be caught up to. If the others don't follow, though, they'll quickly be out of sight.

Ritsuko isn't feeling too good about this. After so much time of being ostracized, and kept out of towns, she wasn't keen on chasing some random man through the streets. But, they were under very weird, and confusing circumstances. The screaming man did probably know something about them. She keeps her head down, and follows after Iga before the situation gets out of hand.

Lucas only manages to get out a "Wha- Wait!" before Iga and then Ritsuko both dash after the man. Unsure about also joining in the chase, the boy glances at Superbia while pulling his hood over his head to try and offset any attention that was drawn to them. Things looked like they were going so well, too...

Unfamiliar faces and buildings rushed by, Iga took several deep breaths and centered himself. His hands clasped in front of him, he was ready to unleash his mudras as needed to keep up with the strange individual. His thoughts raced faster then his feet, and he holed there would be answers forthcoming.

Noticing Lucas look over at him, Superbia smiled and shrugged, before gesturing forwards and beginning to walk "I may not find it necessary to run, but it would be in our best interest not to lose the others"
When the younger man begins to pull up his hood, the demon laughed "I'm not sure how much that will help as long as you're around me, Ritsuko, and Iga. We sort of stick out around here"

As the man looks behind him to see the group begin to pursue, he trips, crashing to the ground. And crash seems to be the right word, as a shattering noise seems to come from one of his bags, as a liquid starts to flow out of it. By the time he can start to pick himself up, Iga and Ritsuko have caught up.
He looks up with fright at the pair. "Are you... are you demons here to take our souls? Are you the cause of all this?"

"I-I know. Just a habit," Lucas mutters as he fiddles with his hood, "Not used to being so... noticeable." Feeling uneasy about the whole situation, the boy follows behind Superbia at first, then overtakes the demon in pace to go ahead and try to catch up with the others quickly.

Ritsuko's first instinct is to help the fallen man, but a pain in her chest stops her when he brings up demons. "N-No! We are not...," she snaps. She takes a step back, subconscious about her body, and stares at the man. "Why did you react like that when you saw us? What is going on?"

Superbia keeps at his slow pace, deciding it would be best for the others to talk to this screaming man. If they hadn't figured things out by the time he got there, then maybe he would take action. But for the moment, he would prefer to not show his hand too much, not when the others would be capable of taking care of it. At least they should be, since whatever had taken him had also deemed them worthy of being taken.

"If we were, you show poor control and judgement in avoiding our notice." Iga replied flatly, his expression passive as Ritsuko barraged the man with questions. Iga sniffs at the air curiously, trying to pick up any strong scents the contents of the mans bag's might've carried.

The man seems to relax infinitesimally, but still is rather tense. A sickly sweet smell seems to be emerging from the bag where liquid is flowing out of it. Now that you're close to the man, he doesn't exactly smell the best himself.
"I thought you might have been the cause of all this that's going on." He gestures around. "For the last couple of months, people had been getting all... weird. Distant. People'd been disappearing, but no one really seemed concerned. I was half convinced that it was just me. But, then, after a few days of this... I was going for a walk to clear my head, when I saw lights on the water. And people nearby...and the river rose up to engulf them... and they were gone." He shudders. "Nobody's believed me, though. I'm convinced it's the water. The river runs from the reservoir that feeds the town. Something's in it, I'm sure of it. I can't think anything different after that light show at the river. That's why I've only been drinking soda from out of town. Avoided water at all costs..."
