The bird and the dog share a look and then visibly shrug at each other. Why would you ever consider your best mate not being in arms reach?

With this response, Terra decides that this wouldn't really lead anywhere. "I hope that you both can handle if that 'bad' cat comes back. Or if something bigger and scarier comes along," she tells them seriously. There wasn't really a strong desire to break up this 'duo' in her.
"Seems to be a bust here... Let's try again?" she offers to Stag. Honestly this was one of her first times just looking for pokemon and not catching them in the moment of convenience. So it also felt a bit off to her.

"Is this how humans do it? Looking for partners that share their mindset or meet some sense of what they like?". Stag asks curiously as the pair continues to explore the darkening woods, night beginning to fall. The low, dull creak of aged wood, and a splintering sound accompanies the last rays of day, somewhere in the distance.
Heavy snoring is the next thing to really catch Terra's attention, and following the sound back to it's source reveals a large round bear-ish lump, dozing comfortably on its back.

"Some of them do. I've heard a few different methods that humans use," Terra answers thinking on what she had seen and caught from conversations. "Some look for just strong pokemon, others just catch anything they come across. Some even only catch pokemon of a certain type or even color," she explains as they explore through the trees.
Another snoring creature? She hoped they wouldn't just be finding sleeping pokemon. Terra watches the large bear snoozing with a bit of interest on her face. "Wonder how long its been asleep?" she says aloud taking a look around the area.

"I know this one, we've had to beat it away from home a few times." Stag pokes one of many scars on the creature's front, not disturbing it in the slightest. "It spends most of its time sleeping, and when it isn't, it's a brute!". She laughs.
"It'll consume entire trees, wood and all, everything it can get its hands on for hours before going back to sleep. It can definitely fight."

While she listened to Stag explain that she recognized this pokemon, Terra would look at the scars and over the rest of its front. Those scars had stories behind them no doubt. Also meant that it could take quite the fight.
"Wow, that's impressive, in a few ways," she admits thoughtfully before looking back to her. A potential for sure to be a strong ally. There's a pause before she fishes out a pokeball from her bag. "Got any interest in having this one as part of your team?" she asks giving Stag first dibs.

"...". Stag squinted at the mass, then made an attempt to move it, finding the task impossible. "Nah... These Pokemon are supposed to someone I can trust, and that can trust me. Be honest, holding a bit of a grudge on this one. All yours."

This produces a nod. "I can kinda understand the grudge thing. Don't think I could really feel great catching a steel bird from home," she replies.
She looks at the ball in her hand for a moment. "I am a little curious if this works. I heard that sometimes a pokeball can catch without a fight," Terra comments. "If it works, I'll give it a choice if it wants to battle afterwards," she adds. Ball in hand, she reaches out to boop it against the sleeping pokemon's side experimentally.

The ball sparks ominously before cracking open with a loud smoky pop. The tub of a Pokemon let's out an irritable noise and a yawn, sitting up and scratching at its middle.

There's a genuine look of surprise upon Terra's face at the ball cracking and then failing quite spectacularly in the smoke and sparks. "Okay... Not doing that again," she more notes to herself for future chances.
"Hey! I heard you like eating," she states in a firm tone. "Bet you've probably tasted everything around here right?" she makes a point. "Want to taste more things?"

Its eyes didn't really seem to open despite being awake now. It smacked its lips softly and leans in to sniff at Terra. With surprising deftness, it rolls itself from probe to a standing position and looked down at her expectantly.
"...Never realized just how big these things get when I was goring him, jeez. You're really going to try to feed it?"

She wasn't the biggest fan of it sniffing her, a slight frown tugging at her mouth.
Then, as it stood up, she looked up to it. Oh. That's... That's a big pokemon alright. "I wasn't really meaning right this minute..." Terra replies to Stag with a glance, before bringing her backpack around to ruffle inside. "Maybe I got something..." she mutters again the inside rustling as she searched. Producing a snack that she had looted from the Underground. Maybe it hadn't had one of these before. A Salty Surprise in hand, she extends it out to the hungry one.

The Snorlax took the snack gingerly, stared at the poorly defined portion in its paw, before popping the salty mass into its mouth. Some dull crunching, a pause. Its eyes open, their terrifying roundness for all to behold. The surprise fades, as does the sense of terror it brings.
"Lax?". It drops heavily to its backside and watches Terra with intense interest.

The full roundness of its eyes caught her off guard, and Terra blinked a few times at the sight. Then watching him warily some considering the snack's size compared to its mass. She didn't want to end up as a meal.
"That was pretty good, yeah?" Terra tells it with a grin. "I don't think I have enough on me, but you leave this place, joining my team. You'll be able to taste even more flavors," she explains showing them one of the surviving pokeballs. An offer of a deal to be made.

The Snorlax snatches up the PokeBall with frightening speed and attempts to swallow it, tossing it back before disappearing into the ball. It shakes violently a few times, then pauses for a long period. A short wiggle later and it clicks shut.
Female Snorlax Level 60 (Any Nature that prefers Salty). Lunchbox, Gluttony, Thick Fat, Immunity. Crunch, High Horsepower, Giga Impact, Recycle, Rest, Belly Drum.
"Still gives me the creeps.". Stag laughs. "But whatever, not much farther now."
Weaving through the trees at dusk, the pair begin to encounter small hounds, moths, and spiders. More of the felines from earlier. More than once, Terra catches sight of a spindly frog similar to the one that had assisted Stag in the Magma facility, moving through the trees. A series of yellowish cocoons with dark eyes that glittered with intelligence considered the pair sleepily. "This is the edge of our territory here."

Oh no not another pokeball! Terra gasped out when the Snorlax attempted to eat the device. Then stared in surprise at the pokemon going into the ball and eventually the confirmation sign of it being caught, she stood there a bit in shock. Finally coming around hearing Stag speak. "At least it won't be attacking your home anymore?" Terra offers with a slight shrug of uncertainty before approaching and pocketing it.
While they traveled deeper, Terra would watch and listen with a curious attentiveness. She observes the 'guards' as they are sized up with the glinting eyes. "Then they're part of your Hive?" she asks nodding towards the yellow cocoons.

"Yeah, the youngest can't fight all that well. The grubs and the pods keep a lookout till they grow up, which doesn't take all that long. These ones will grow into hunters or scouts. They catch food or chase down things that invade the hive. Admittedly I haven't been back in awhile, or thought this through too much. They might just attack me like they would anyone else."
Stag took a knee by one of the Kakuna. "Hey... So, you think you could let Mom know Stag wants to talk to her?"
The Kakuna's eyes look the girl up and down.

The surprising information to Terra continues to expand as Stag explains. Its very different compared to her own home, however it made sense in a way, even with the foreignness of it.
At the mention of attack, Terra stays where she is. Eyes watching the guards closely, just on the chance that the other ended up being correct about the attack. The girl didn't take a fighting stance quite yet, she was staying very aware of their surroundings as she waited.

With the Kakuna's dark eyes and lack of a readable facial expression it is hard to tell how the message is received. It vocalizes to the others nearby, and their cries begin to mingle with others deeper in the darkening wood. Stag rises and waits. "Going deeper might freak them out, so I'm down for staying put for a little while."
Terra begins to notice movement in the trees at the edge of her vision, the odd silk line here and there. Ahead of them, spider pokemon in bright yellows, reds, and purples create a netting between several sets of trees. Dark settles on the woods at last.
A large, humanoid bee-like Pokemon approaches the safety of the netting from deeper into the woods, flanked by glowing insects with dapper markings and short hair. With them, a large red cricket, a floating metallic creature with long lances, and a squat, heavily scarred stag beetle that the girl seems surprised to see.
"Dad?!"
The Pinsir throws an arm wide and lets out a screech.
"Sorry... Sorry... Its been a long time... I can only really understand you now." Her brow set low and she frowned at that fact.
"Terra, you'll want to lower your head... Avoid eye contact too. Its a respect thing.". Stag warns.
"It's your wayward daughter... I look wrong now, but it's me. My mother is Queen Ambrosia III and my father is General Kampfgeist, first of his name."
A murmur ripples through the assembled, the Queen speaking. Stag makes no visible response until the Pinsir repeats the inflections.
"Humans did this to us... Took many from here, they called it the next step in Pokemon evolution. Many died in the process."

Terra is willing to play things by Stag's call, for now, since this was her territory and clearly this was not a normal thing. Red eyes scanning the area slowly, until she watches the strings of thread begin to form.
This was out of her area of comfort, and she could feel a very human sense of unease as the webbing became thicker and thicker before them. She is impressed by the amount of different colored pokemon. Gaze shifting among them one at a time.
The screech catches her attention from observing the insects to looking towards Stag. She definitely didn't understand the language or customs.
It wasn't something she particularly enjoyed, however she did follow the warning. A slight bow of her head whilst glancing between the different hive members in a slow manner. Avoiding eye contact.
She listens while Stag interacts with her dad and the who she was assuming the Queen. Hands would clench some hearing that many were taken and died. It still was hard not to get pissed about. However they did also come with the news that the man behind it was stopped. She gave Stag the floor since it was her family, watching the taller closely.
