"Mmm. They don't need protecting, if the hive moves, I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to try anything funny.". Terra's leg was improving steadily, the ache soothed by a cooling sensation that seemed to seep in through the skin and directly to the joint.
"Then I guess after that... I just sever ties? I'm not one of them anymore, even if they appreciate what we're doing that won't change." Stag wilted.

The shorter's look stays on Stag as she replies about the hive moving and that there shouldn't be any trouble making. The pain starting to fade the more she allowed the water to do its work. Her motions becoming more fluid.
With the words about severing ties, Terra didn't miss the emotion. Silence pauses between them again as she contemplates on what to say. Expression serious while watching her. "Its going to be hard for you, without the hive..." she starts slowly, giving a significant attempt at trying to give the other something. "But, you won't be alone because of that." She shifts her body, arms pulling herself up some to readjust her weight in Stag's legs, a firm assuring squeeze given to the top of one of them. "We'll be traveling together. You will still have Shiv, Vibe, and Priss when you come back. You might also find others to make connections with," Terra states taking her time in saying her words. "It might not be the same to what you were used to. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing."

Stag considers the Kakuna still stuck to her shirt. "The smaller bugs that evolve a bunch always talked about how everything changes for them when their bodies shifted. Maybe I will treat this as a new life. Can only do my best I guess. Ready to get out?". She moved to heave Terra free of the water.

Terra gives her leg a few more experimental movements, before nodding satisfied. "Yeah, I think so," she answers. Letting Stag take the lead in pulling her out of the water.
Once she was set on her feet, she takes a few seconds to test how her knee handled her weight. "That's better," she comments while putting her weight on normally. "Did you want to soak your wrist since we're here?" Terra follows up giving a look to the web covered part. "It probably won't take long."

"Yeah alright." Stag settled on her stomach and put the wrapped wrist in the water, webbing and all. "Hey Terra?" Her expression was flat as she swished her hand back and forth in the water. "If it was a thing, would you go back to the way things were? Just you, your favorite foods, a territory to call your own, against all comers?" Stag hesitated for the girl's answer, before adding, "Maxie's still around. He knows enough about what's going on."

Terra gives a small sound of acknowledgement at hearing her name, watching Stag take her turn at doing a soak. The question has her staring off at the distance with a furrowed brow. That, was a hard question for her to answer.
"I don't... know?" Terra admits hesitantly, eyes still focusing towards the shore. "If you asked me when this first started, I would have said yes without a second."
"Now? Some things I do miss a lot." She brings a hand to hold her chin thinking about the query. A hint of sour turn at her lips coming she thinks about Maxie. He might not have been the original one behind all this, but he still was part of it. It didn't sit right inside her. Finally looking back to Stag she holds out her free hand to help her up onto her feet when she's ready.

Stag risks the injured wrist to be lifted and seems satisfied as Terra hauls her up, some warmth in the large girl's face. "On the fence myself." She looks out over the lake. "Things are lonelier but less crowded too. I've got friends I'm not related to, that's pretty different.". She snorts.
"Anyway, someone I can trust is good enough."

The last statement of good enough makes Terra gives a genuine smile with a small amusement. "Sometimes that's the best we can ask for." "Since we're both better..." she starts thoughtfully. "Did you want to continue exploring around up here for a while? Or are you feeling like going back down after a bit?"
The two of them didn't have a hard set schedule to stick to, having gone on this trip without a real plan. So she was allowing Stag choose, since they had agreed to come out here in part to get away from the city.

"Well, if Mewtwo wants to talk us... I don't know what to even call them, halfies? Into coming up here, and this was where I was going to bring the swarm, maybe we should get a good look around. Barely seen the place what with the fight they put up trying to keep us out, riding a boulder, nearly drowning, then having to swim." Stag made a face. "Let's take a walk... see how the food is outside this weird smooth building that smells like nothing."

"That's a good point," Terra agrees with a nod about exploring and getting to know how well this potential new home could sustain the ones that they would be bringing here.
"Mewtwo will probably want to talk to us before we actually go back down to the Swarm and town I think," she adds thoughtfully glancing upwards the way that the pokemon had taken their leave earlier.
She would then take the lead, heading back to the room she had woken up in to grab her backpack. "Ready when you are." She let Stag lead the way to the exit. Once they were outside of the smooth structure she breathed in deep before letting it out in a sigh at the fresh air in her lungs. Scanning the immediate area around them, all of it new to her since she had been unconscious when they arrived.

The smooth round home has a short white bridge leading to the mainland, with the embankment being relatively steep the whole way around the lake. The sky is edging towards sunset now, with the time spent resting and soaking, not to mention the arduous climb to the mesa itself. Pokemon of all shapes and sizes seem to be thriving here, unmolested by human hands. To the south shore of the lake is an open plain of rolling hillsides. Pokemon seem to move to the lake if injured, and otherwise pay it no mind. There is no doubt in anyone's mind if humans knew the waters here could do that they'd bottle and try to sell it. Stag lets out a sigh and rubs her eyes. "What are we looking for exactly?"

It was a relief to see that there was a bridge connecting the land and island. Meant that they wouldn't have to be swimming from the building.
With Stag's question, Terra stepped towards the bridge. "At the least, check out the nearby food situation, like you were saying. We can come back before it gets too late," she adds. "That way we both can be rested for tomorrow. Then we could go check out more, or head out if we feel satisfied with what we find."
"And it'll give us a better idea of what others can expect if they want to come," she points out for the possible Changed that they would come across. Granted that things looked fairly peaceful, they had already experienced some of the difficulties that could catch them off guard.

"Okay yeah... so what do people need to be comfortable and happy? Food and water... houses... other people? Uh... maybe weapons and stuff? The Pokemon gave us a really hard time getting here, maybe not that if they don't give us issue anymore? Mewtwo probably wouldn't like it either... She trailed off with a shake of her head, all the thinking giving her pause.

Stag would see Terra nod in agreement with the first items on her list. "Those wouldn't hurt. I know that I've seen different people find pleasure in other things too... Uhmm" she comments thoughtfully trying to remember at first. She knew that there were folks with finding happiness in a variety of things. Muku liked collecting shiny things, which reminded her, still owed the bird girl something shiny if they ever met up again. Brain working as she took in the rest of the comments. "At least we know that the pokemon here are fairly good defenses against anyone unwanted." Perception: 18

"Never gave a lot of thought beyond the Colony before, but even just across the little family I've got left, they're all so different now? Shiv liked to scar up her bedposts and got upset when her knives got dull... Priss loved to just lounge in parts of the basement where the floor was cold even though it was the floor." Stag wrinkled her broad nose and reached up to check her hair, which had gone flat since their arrival. A hitch in her breathing and she snapped her arms together sharply, seeming to find comfort in the sound those sharpened bracers made when they struck each other. An exhale. She nodded, satisfied and didn't make comment.
The Pokemon seem largely content to leave the duo alone as they made their way about the mesa under the light of the setting sun. Together they locate copses of fruiting trees, plenty of edible roots and shoots, and to Stag's surprise one of her favorite trees. "Beetles love these, the sap is super sweet, you just break the bark in a little spot." Stag pulled away a small strip, revealing a leaking amber fluid, taking a few fingers of the stuff and tucking them into her mouth, her expression said that it wasn't the same experience, and she found it unpleasant. Sagging, she scrubbed her hand off on her pants and didn't make eye contact with Terra.

There wasn't judgement from Terra when she saw how Stag reacted to the change in her hair nor the clanging of the bracers. It was a familiar feeling that she had went through herself multiple times. In fact she would pull one of her toothpicks from her pocket and place it between her teeth, to avoid any comments on the action.
So far there certainly looked like plenty of vegetation and such that would satisfy that part of people and pokemon diets. A note in her mind here and there. Also an appreciation on the pokemon not bothering them during their investigation. Stag's explanation of the sap had Terra watch with a curiosity, until the expression said it all. A slight frown of her own in a sympathetic manner. There's a few moments where she doesn't do anything, before digging into her bag to retrieve an empty jar. She would step up to where the fluid was and collected some. "Someone I know might be able to do something with this... or know something similar." She states glancing from the tree trunk towards her friend.

Hesitation, a look of slow uncertainty, then something clicking. "What you mean like cooking? Cooked stuff is pretty good... I feel like if you cook a tree you just get coal though? I saw someone doing it to roast meat." Stag seemed intrigued but didn't chase the line of thought very far. Dusk was settling in. "Looks like everything is good to start... and people could make changes as they needed to to make themselves happy? Do we like... go get them and bring them here now.. or?"

"Yeah, kinda. There's a woman I know, I stayed with her and the gym leader. She was very good at making food. Made something called rock candy, which wasn't actual rocks. But was very similar," Terra tried to explain. It would probably be easier to show her. It might be something to be on their list to do.
"We could head back in the morning, to see if anyone is interested there to start. But getting a good night's rest seems smart," Terra answers after looking up to the night sky over them.

Stag joins Terra in considering the vast, starry expanse stretching off into the infinite. Moth Pokemon, and night flyers passing across the moon and those pinpoints of light. A quiet moment to feel small under the scope of the world that they live in, and to realize just how close they were to each other in the grand scheme of things.
"You uh... You mind if we sleep close tonight?" Stag asked after clearing her throat. "Been a bit since I felt like I was part of something."

It still sometimes took Terra by surprise just how open the sky was above them and how different it was to her old life. The silence being broken by Stag's cough and question caught her off guard some.
Eyes shifting to look at the taller, head turning just a bit to make it easier. There's a palpable quiet as she processes the words. Before she finds herself looking off away some as she thinks it over. Finally she speaks "I, ah, y-yeah? I guess so?" she answers, tone not as assured as it usually is when responding.
"Let's get back, before we end up sleeping on hard ground again, yeah?" Terra states trying to get her usual tone back, giving a quick look towards where the building should be. Then back to Stag for her response.
