OOC: Focus is usually a skill to use to keep one's control over oneself when facing something frightening or may cause anxiety or excitement.
Isabella, you know well enough of what he meant and you are able to catch the stone. Though it stumbled in your hands a bit, you were able to secure it. You also heard stories about how petroglyphs were once thought to be windows into the Spirit World. You are also able to identify some of the pokemon as Deerling, Sawsbuck, Teddyursa, Ursaring, Lycanrock, Bouffalant, and Basculine.
The man looks at all of you as ethereal hands appeared over his eyes and ears. "Do your eyes see? Do your ears listen?" the voice asked as all the hands disappeared into smoke. "Many moons have passed since I lived within the rocks. Many seasons came and gone as I've tried to chant the summoning spell. Are you truly the ones who can hear and see me?"

"We can hear you, that's for sure," Jason spoke softly and slowly. "But I don't reckon we totally understand you. Do you need some sort of help, sir?"

"In life, I was one of many, who were like you. We were the guardians of this land, each given a spirit beast to help protect it, by orders of the Great Mystery. However, we were only mortal and we all passed on, leaving very little behind of our legacy. Our purpose was to be extensions of the Great Mystery and to bring order to the spirits of this land. I would tell you more, but the energy I used to change your fates to bring you here has drained me. I will have to return to the world within the rocks. The sparkling stones in your hands are for you. My people called these 'Spirit Stones'. They will connect your hearts with my world and the beasts that inhabit this land. If you can use these, then you may help us. The spirits are afraid that this land is dying. Something is trying to get out and consume the Great Mystery and lead us into oblivion."

Isabella nods at the man's question, "Yes, Sir. I can see and hear you, though I'm not certain if that means I was 'summoned' by you, or not. The Professor sent many,"--Her mind goes back to the impression she got at the Courthouse.--"many others before us."
She looks down at the stone then back to the man, before simply adding "We're mortals too."
She lets her gaze move from the man to the various Pokémon Spirits moving around the room, her attention resting much longer on the adult Ursaring and the pair of cubs before looking back at the man. She doesn't add any more since he'd said his time was short, and she was suspecting she'd already taken up too much of it with her comments so far.

"Thank you, the Great Mystery can count on me!"
Destiny brought he hear, he had a true and honest purpose. His belief in himself was validated, and with more hard work he would be a success. Already Keno could see his first steps of advancement to achieving his dreams and proving it to the world… and his parents.
As the figure faded back into the rocks it called home, a grumpy looking fish swam right through Keno and it was scooped up by a massive bear pokemon who let out a rumbling shout, then turned towards a cub to share it’s prize. Keno was impressed by the towering visage and it’s abundantly apparent strength.
As he pointed to the large sun stone, he spoke to his ‘mortal’ companions in the pit, “that should be left here, I think it’s some sort of like for the spirits to our world, or at least our new friends home.”
If there is nothing else of interest, like passages, Keno will make his way back up the rope looking for foot holds to make his assent easier.

He takes the copper sun stone and offers it toward the party. "Take it. You may need it in your trial. There is another treasure that you seek in this cavern." There are no passages to be seen in the pit. Keno, you climb back up the rope and almost lose your grip, but you make it to the top. The ghostly figure begins to fade away. "I have run out of time. If you find yourselves in danger... find a crystal and move with the stones to the first sound you have heard... before you were born..." He disappears and the pokemon soon follow. "Remember.... you are mortal... but your hearts beat with the spirits. Look to the stones for guidance...."

Keno turn's back before climbing up, sheepish, and avoiding eye contact with the others. He was wrong about the stone, so he packed it away, and turned back to the rope, hopefully no one saw his flushed cheeks. The less that graceful climb didn't help his composure, no doubt, everyone was watching.
Once he reached the top he spent a few moments uselessly rummaging through his bag so as not to have to face Izzy.

Seeing Keno start to climb up, Isabella takes a step back from the edge of the pit, but when he starts to slip she moves forward, trying to reach down and give him some support. "Careful there, not a good time to test that mortality, right?"
She bites her lip and steps back once Keno's safely above, stowing the stone in her bag. "Were those 'spirits' projections from Ghost or Psychic Types, or an actual dead man and Pokémon?" she finally offers to the group, not looking towards Keno. Her voice even softer than before.

Jason can only nod at the old man's request. He being a guardian of the land? Shew-wee! His momma wouldn't believe him even if Jason brought the man back home to dinner. There was an electricity in the air and Jason couldn't deny that it made him feel alive.
Jason fallows Keno up the rope and once on solid ground slips his stone into his jacket pocket for easier access. These puppies were lucky after all. But where could they find the crystals to go with it?
"I'd bet they were memories," Jason answered Isabella's question and suggests that maybe they check out the under ground lake next.

"That might make sense, Jason," Izzy agreed, though she still has a somewhat thoughtful expression on her face. When the lake is mentioned, though, she frowns slightly. "Hopefully the Squirtles won't be insulted if we visit their home. The Professor has said at least one person who failed before us has bothered the local Pokémon."

"I don't think we'll be bothering them if we just take a peak," Jason says, but turns to John for a second option. "Didn't you say you found something in the other tunnel too?"

Answering the other boy. "Yeah It was a strange rock formation, with a waterfall. A few pokemon were there and a couple of tunnels leading farther in. Want to check it out?"

No one seemed to be discussing Keno's less then admirable climb up the rope, or if they had any opinions about it, they were keeping it to themselves at least. With conversation moving forward, Keno was able to compose himself through the act of gathering up his rope and putting it in his pack. He secured his store in a zippered pant pocket until he could find a way to wear it is a secure way. He was thinking necklace, but didn't have a ton of time to dwell on that.
"I wanted to explore some more, and with the, um..." he searched for the right word, "Spirit, is that good, can we call it that? I mean it's easier than saying 'the phantom envoy of the Great Mystery who lives in the rocks' or something." He shook his he'd to get of the tangent, "anyway, with the Spirit's insistence, we aren't done here anyway. I'd like to see everything this place has to offer, and the lake seems like a good place to explore next."
In response to Izzy's comments, "I had some success earlier interacting with the wildlife of the cave, that is to say, they are not innately out to do us harm. So if we don't get aggressive we should be fine."

John, you try climbing back up the rope, but your grip slips and a burning sensation hits your palms. It's not too bad though, so you don't lose any health or suffer rope burns.
Isabella, you try to help Keno up, but you didn't get a good grip on him, nearly losing it all together. However, you are able to save at the last second and help him up.

"I vote we check out both places," Jason says. "This seems to important to leave anything unchecked. Just where to first?"

John, your second attempt is much better as you climb out of the pit more easily.

When john finally makes it out of the pit he states a bit nervously, 'I'll follow ya'll. Lead the way."
