Izzy lets out a soft breath as the Professor expresses his disapproval of the plan to smoke indoors and then turns her full attention upon the man who holds her chance to become a Trainer in his control.
Hearing the terms, she tilts her head slightly to one side and frowns slightly before she shifts her stance and gets up the courage to voice her thoughts, "And the Waiver, Professor? Is that just defending against potential harm as we traverse the caverns, or is there more to it?"

"Well, that waiver is mostly to defend against cases of minor injury. And a good thing too! You would not believe the number of people who tried to take me to court over a simple cut or bruise! I even gave them first aid and they still did it! However it also states that, if you do suffer a more serious injury, like deep wounds or broken bones, I will pay the medical expenses for you."

Taking the search for the key as a warm up for the trial, Keno went into boy detective mode, modeling himself after a TV show he enjoyed in his younger years. The obvious places to check would be around doors where it might be used, by tables and shelves that it might have been set down to pick up something else.... and the bathroom, where it could easily slip from a pocket.
Keno always prided himself in his problem solving, and this was a chance to make a good first impression. 'Wait, interrogate the client.'
"Professor, what color is the key card?"
He set off on his search.

"Well that's mighty kind of you, sir," Jason says to the professor. "I do reckon we might get a little bruised up wondering a dark cave. Let me help with that key card, too."
Jason moves in the opposite direction of the shorter boy also searching, no point in double checking his work. The kid looked to know what he was doing anyway. Checking the displays, under and around, and the doors wondering if the professor left the key in the lock by mistake.

After listening to the Professor, Isabella nods, "So it's a Waiver included within a larger contract, okay." Her past experience working for Trainers (and the contracts signed at those times) serves her well now, it would seem.
"Am I right to understand that there are five 'prizes'? Are we to work together, or are you seeking to evaluate our independent work ethic? If there are multiple 'prizes', are they to be found in the same area, or are they in multiple locations?"
She remains near the Professor as she asks, her voice so soft that there's no guarantee those who are searching on the other side of the room can make out her side of the conversation.
"Oh, and about the local Pokémon, Sir, is the policy to have absolutely no contact with them--to backtrack if we believe one is nearby--or simply not to disturb them should we cross their path?"

He looked to Keno and Jason, saying, "The card is pure white with a black strip. It has a petroglyph of a Braviary printed on it." He then turned his attention back to Izzy. "The prizes are all in the same place to make it simple. And it would be preferred that you stick together, in the case of any trouble. As for the local pokemon, It's best that you try to leave them alone, as they are protected by the NPA. If you find that you can't, those prizes you're looking for may provide help. Fortunately, since it's winter, many are hibernating, so it shouldn't be too hard to get past them."
Keno, you look around and find something different about one of the exhibits. What appears to be a Rufflet was sitting still on a branch that was placed on one of the cases near the taxidermied specimens.

'This one is not stuffed,' he paused watching it a moment, not remembering it from studying the exibit earlier. This could be a wild pokemon seeking shelter from the harsh weather, or one that is domesticated and lives here, perhaps even the professors. Recalling before that the local wildlife was treated kindly around here perhaps it would be accustomed to more of the same.
Keno reached into his pocket pulling out a bit of trail mix, picking out the chocolate, and other sweet bits, being sure to offer only nuts and seeds. Holding out his hand, palm up, to the bird; he popped the sweet portion into his mouth as a show of good faith. "Hi there, your a nice looking bird, are you hungry?"
'No one seems to mind that this Ruffelet is here, I guess this is normal, it doesn't see to be bothering any one...'
A thought came to him. To the Rufflet, "you wouldn't happent to have seen a key card around here would you?"

The pokemon slowly turns its head toward Keno and stares at the trail mix in his hand. In his beak is a white plastic card with a petroglyph symbol that resembles some kind of bird. The Rufflet's feathers seem to puff up as you approach it.

As the Professor mentioned his desire that the test be taken as a group, Isabella can't help but shift her gaze over the room, looking for the last Applicant to have arrived, the one who'd tried to smoke indoors, and instead finds her attention shifting to another Applicant who seems to be offering his hand to one of the displays as he puts something in his mouth with the other.
"I don't suppose there's anything in here that might be damaged by crumbs, Professor?" she asks with a slight hint of amusement in her tone as she points out the person in question.

John watches the interaction with Rufflet amused, "Well there it is" he stated under his breath but waited to see what Keno would do next.

Keno continued to hold out his hand with the nuts and seeds, holding it motionless. He halted his advance because he was unsure of the nature of the Rufflets displaly; fear, anger, ammusment.

With his free hand he dug around in his back pocket, finaly he withdrew his father's credit card. After leaving home he'd been cut off, Keno wasn't even sure why he still carried it around. Maybe because that felt normal? He held the red card with shiny silver embosing at the same level and distance as the seeds. "How about a trade? This one's shiny."
As he spoke, he turned the card slowly in his hand to catch the light. If the Rufflet went for either good, he was ready to abandon the contents of the other to snatch the key card as it fell. The Rufflet could freely have the contents of either or both hands.2d6

You're not quite sure, but it looks like the pokemon was a bit anxious to decide between keeping the card or opening its beak to get the offered food. Once the credit card was pulled out, the Rufflet drops the key card and screeches as it hops off its perch to get a closer look at it. It approaches with its wings open to keep its balance as it walked across the glass case. The screech seemed to get Sequoia's attention.
"Wanbli Wiyaka? I should have known it was you!"
The pokemon stopped in its tracks and backed away from him, as if it was ashamed.

Izzy lifts a hand to mask the smile that's crept onto her face, "Is Wanbli Wiyaka your POkémon,Professor?"
She follows it the Professor heads in the direction, but she remains several steps behind the man, her gaze on the Rufflet.

"Unfortunately, yes, he is and he is nothing but a little troublemaker!" he said, putting on a thick leather glove to let the pool perch on his arm. "I raised him from an egg after his parents died from a Liepard attack. Since then, he can't keep his talons to himself!"

The girl shakes her head slightly at the story, with a somewhat tender expression tossed to the raptor. Suddenly Isabella's face gets a somewhat more somber look as she turns to the Professor, "Sir, if we do become your Inters, are there any laws against attempting to take in some of those starving Pokémon in the square?"

Sequoia's voice was a suprise to Keno, but he tried to maske it, though he did let the key card clatter to the groung. The card was laying on the floor, so Keno bent down to scoop it up, and head over to the professor and Wanbli.
"No parents huh? Builds character." 'I hope...' He felt for the bird, but at the same time wasn't worried, separated from his parents, then met up with Sequoia and seems to be just fine, 'just like me.' He offered the seeds again with a glance at the Professor for approval.
Holding up the key card, "So about that trial."

"Aha! Perfect!" he exclaimed as he snatched it from your hand. "Now we can talk business! Come with me to the office. I'll have everything ready!" He leads everyone to one of the back rooms. Inside, there were several chairs, surrounding a mahogany desk. On the walls were various objects that looked like various claws and effigies of pokemon. Behind the desk, there was a painting of two Braviaries that perched on a bare tree. Below it was a bookshelf of pokemon books, journals, and archaeological magazines. The professor let's the pokemon off on a perch that was mounted on the wall before pulling out some documents in the drawers. He hands a stapled packet to each of them.
"Just sign these to get started." Looking at Izzy, he said, "You can actually take in starving pokemon. It's in the league rules."

Isabella nods. "We just didn't have the resources to do so at home, Sir..." she mutters with a slight flush to her face, using the documents he handed over as a good excuse not to meet the Professor's eye. Taking a seat, she reads over the documents quickly and carefully. With her past experience working for various Trainers she's keeping an eye out for any clauses that might be surprising or unusual. If nothing like that catches her eye, she signs the documents, hands them over and then lets her eyes move to rest on Wanbli Wiyaka. Please let me know if you'd like some sort of Roll for this, and what that might me.

Keno takes one of the copies and singns it without reading it, this is what he wanted, he couldent even think the fine print could be important, or get in the way.

With little fanfare John Snags a copy of the waiver and signs it. "Well lets get this started" he states to nobody in particular, with a little fear in his voice. John is glad this trial is a group event.
