I... Really don't see how Arach has eight health left. I don't think he's KOed but I think he should be on his last HP. Litterally.

subtract Defense from each attack's damage Still not an 8. Then you'd be at 14.

The other thing is it looks like you're supposed to do Super Effective damage AFTER the subtraction of Defense. That was why I thought that doc had already calced out the total damage lost. Otherwise you'd have eaten 44 damage on that first hit... And that Bagon would have a REDICULOUS SpA stat.
Of course there would be the slight oddity that he got an odd number on a x2 multiplier...
Ember's normally a 1d8+6, which would mean a minimum of SpA of 15, since we can be pretty sure the attack wasn't critical. If it was type shifted Fire, then you'd still end up with a minimum of 9, which considering that SpA is normally a Bagon's Second worst stat is still mind blowing.

Doc, did you decide if it was okay for our starters to be bred? If so, I would like to draw up Sitri's parents under the memory thread. I think it could be a neat hook if you used them later and Barry would just know instantly that they are Sitri's parents (through the way they acted or scars/birthmarks. Or even the way they looked or acted towards him). You could use them as a plot hook by them being abducted or just have Barry's parents in disguise meet them later on for an encounter. Feel free to be as dark as you'd like. I personally am okay with the darker undertones in games. I am not sure about everyone else though.
Just an idea. I know when I DM D&D, I love throwing in encounters like that. My players seem to enjoy it also as it kinda makes them feel like I used their background instead of just disregarding it. They usually light up when I announce an encounter or plot hook based on their background so I make it a point to try to include them often.

And yes, I did decide your starter was bred.

Anyone else think this is hilarious? The fact that Barry and Oliver would strike up the friendship first.
Do you know how hard it was to come up with a last name for Barry? The ONLY thing that keep coming to mind was Allen. I had to make it a pun just to find something to use, and now he's buddies with Oliver of all people!
I just need to become a merger and get a ninjask for speed, Oliver needs a bow, and then we're set!

However you'd probably do better with a Speed Ace Arcanine if you wanted to make that joke. Or the Electric Type Elementalist... As for the friendship thing, I mean, with the three of us just joining in and Techno going straight to Keno and John I believe, it seemed easiest for the two of us to interact.

technoRomancer I though that when Keno said "wait a moment!" Tori would think he was on to her true intentions, and could see just a hint of that. If I took liberties out of charecter, I apologize and will gladly edit my post. I asure you though, he has no incling as to what is really going on in your mind.

So doc, what's the story behind the newbies and the trial? Are we assuming we took it already? If so, did we meet the mysterious spirit? Are we holding the stones as well?
And then if so, do you mind if we take liberties with how it played out? I thought about writing in an NPC that could show up later, but then thought that I'd ask first before doing so. You know, describe that there was two of us that "passed" but only one that saw the spirit. The NPC could have been rejected for not having seen it sort of thing. Just wanted to ask first before I wrote something about the trial.

We could assume the newbies were others trainers that took the trial and succeeded or they could have met the spirit outside of it and received your own stones by other means.

No need to repeat the Dex entry on Deerling, assuming it gives Tori the same info.

Okay, in that case then, I think I will retcon Barry's bio to meet the spirit after he saved the Lunatone. He'll take "two" rocks as mementos instead of the one. The second can just be the, it's a Normalium-Z right? Or is that the rock that Keno had to put back in the nest? I'd have to go back and reread it to make sure.

Since no one was really saying anything, I went ahead and put up a post. I usually post from home so this one wasn't really edited. I didn't want Barry to talk because I can't color it on my phone. That's why Barry was unusually quiet.
