Amanda accepts the handshake after a bit of hesitation as Ul transforms back.
"Yes indeed. Everyone seems to underestimate a Ditto."
...For now.
Amanda backs up.
"But yours looked to be very close. If that's any consolation."
Unbeknownst to her, Ul jumped over her head, turned into a goofy looking victory crown, and landed on Amanda's head. There's a moment of silence followed by Amanda face-palming.
"You can ignore her. Thank you for the battle."
Amanda goes over to the side, and watches Via and Ethan train. She'd do the same but Ul's battle should be sufficient. As she both watch them with their starters and their gift, she thinks about the charmander she was given. I suppose now is better than never. She takes out the ball with the marking on it and tosses it out. A small black charmander pops out, and looks initially confused about it's surroundings before it looks to Amanda. It was told it'd be given a trainer by the doctor, this must be her! He goes to her leg and pulls on her pants to get her attention. Amanda leans down to observe her new pokemon. It looks like, unlike a Charmander proper, it has no tail flame. So no light, but now it can't die just by having that extinquished.
"Um hello. My name is Amanda. You've been given to me."
The Charmander looks exuberant and hugs her leg. It is his trainer. Amanda makes a weird face, as she has to tell this thing that Ul is doing most of the fighting.
"But... This is awkward... But I don't actually need another pokemon-
The pokemon starts looking REAL sad, but Amanda quickly shakes her head.
"But... I didn't say you couldn't travel with me. See her over there?"
Amanda guestures to Ul.
"She is my fighter. Leave that to her. Unless in an emergency."
Ul turns into an arm and flexes, to the amazement of the Charmander.
"I hope to prove a point so only she will be fighting. However, you were entrusted with me. I won't keep you in your ball forever, you can stay out most of the time. And honestly... Ul could use a friend besides a worry-wort like me."
Ul frowns, and transforms into a squeaky hammer and whacks Amanda, who no-sells the whack. Despite that, Ul would like more friends, so she turns to the Charmander and transforms into him! Ditto's silly face is almost invisible on the dark skin of this transformed Charmander. Amanda makes a mental note that she had in fact copied into this different version, but watches them play for a bit.
"I guess you need a name, then? Ekki, I think I'll call you. This is Ul, my best friend and hopefully yours soon.

Ethan, Tau and Iota enjoy a rousing game of tag as Via gets to know her Turtwig through violence and Amanda ruins a Charmander's dreams. After you finish your training you enjoy a meal of microwaved lasagne and an evening of boardgames that are missing pieces, faded cards and frank discussions on the state of competitive tournaments. Though the provided beds aren't super comfortable, you get a decent night of sleep and are ready to head out the next morning.

Ethan had both of his Pokemon outside of their Pokeballs and was draped against a wall in about as possible as it was to get a graphic description of 'not a morning person'. He'd gotten up for a bit of early-morning training.
"*Yawn*... So, anyone have a pre-planned first destination? Because I sure don't"

Amanda woke up early, as sleeping in strange places never suited her. She'll not be happy most of this trip. Ekki and Ul on the other hand, are both lying next to each other after playing all night. Turns out being able to morph into most anything means you can entertain for the LONGEST time. A light smile forms on her face before she takes her time to get ready. She also opens her notes, adding in what she observed last night of Ekki's moveset. Once she's done her hair and gotten dressed, she wakes up the two of them. She walks out, and sees Ethan.
Her first instinct when he says where 'they' should be going is to wonder why they should travel together... but that's her natural distrust of other people. So far Via only seemed to be antangonistic to others like Hissho and Ethan, and Ethan himself seemed to know a lot academically. He and her could really help each other out. She suppresses her feelings of the past and walks over.
"Good Morning, Ethan."
She looks off, thinking.
"...Perhaps maybe the nearby forest? I was curious about it, and I really have no direction as of this moment. Also observing Ul interacting with the local environment would be valuable."

Via woke up early, like she always did, enjoying the extra time to lie in bed. Eventually, she got up, her curly hair a puffy, tangled mess, like it always was in the morning, and she took her time wrangling it into place with a brush. That all done, she grabs her pokeballs off the bedside table, taking a moment to appreciate the strangeness of holding two of them, let alone one. Back in Orre, she'd seem like an exceptionally rich person, but here, she was just normal.
She walked out to meet the others, casting a sideways glance at Ethan's tired state. "We're not in a rush, if you need to sleep a bit longer, I'd rather it be here than on the road."
She doesn't comment on Ethan's tiredness beyond that though, adding in her own opinion on the topic of destination. "Forest sounds fine to me, would be good to put my pokemon through their paces, see what's around."

Amanda nods in agreement to Via.
"She's right, you don't have to be up early just to be up early. We are in no rush."
She looks down to her two pokemon flanking her and look up.
"But it seems Ethan is planless and Via and I both find the nearby forest as good as place as any to start. So whenever everyone 'is' ready, we can head out."
Amanda un-tenses herself. She finds that with these two, if she's just purely silent (Something she'd more comfortable being), then nothing will get done. Ul, however, loves seeing Amanda this way. At least she's enjoying all of this.

" 'm fine, I'm fine. We can go. Just not a morning person, but I'm used to dealing with it. I'll be back to my usual self once I walk a bit. Get the blood flowing"
Ethan clicked a pokeball, again releasing Iota and motioning for a high-five that the toy spun to give.
"Forest sounds good. My plans sort of involve the totality of the region, so I'll probably let the two of you pick destinations until I find a good thread to follow. Now let's go before I fall- *yawn* -ashleep agahn"

Route 37 seems to consist entirely of grassy hills providing scenic views of Brinetide Bay, the sea, the distant peaks of Rose and Iris islands and the mighty Bronze Mountains that seem to gleam and shine in the sunlight like they're truly made out of their namesake metal.
Before you left Ryland made sure to tell you that the hike takes most people about an hour, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the view as you go. Your early awakening seems to have paid off as the path is largely free of other travelers. This also means you see several wild pokemon scavenging for food, particularly the dark furred Rattata that you believed were unique to the Alola region. The solitude also means you can easily hear the squeaks of distress that herald the desperate flight of a Bounsweet from a pack of Growlithe and Electrike! The small pink pokemon is helplessly tumbling down a hill towards the three of you as the four canines gain on it.

Seeing the pink pokemon being chased by some fire types twinges something in Amanda's memory. She's reminded of when she met Ul, but only in the most unpleasant way. Ul seems to sense her tension, and puffs up, expecting an order. Amanda looks to her, forgetting the two others for the moment, and nods to her ditto, who scoots over as fast as she can to intercept the dog pokemon.
Ekki looks a little lost for a moment before Amanda looks to him for a moment.
"We'll need you too, Ekki, come on."
The little charmander perks up and follows at Amanda's heel as they head in.

As they walked, Ethan took periodic stops and used his dowsing rods to look for shards. Sure, it wasn't the greatest area for it, but it had to have some, right? Dowsing! QYSj9CZc4d6
The chase made Ethan put his rods away, however, and he quickly motioned to Iota that they were gonna jump in and try to solve that issue. "Oi, dogs, not cool! You don't bully others like that. Pick on someone who can fight back, for a change" he growled out, squaring off and letting Iota float in front of him sort-of menacingly. He then looked at the Bounsweet and softened a bit. "Hide behind me, we'll chase them off"Command to convince the Bounsweet to hide behind Ethan! 4d3 That said, he still took a loose Baoquan stance in case the dogs got at him. He hadn't really used it in forever, and it was pretty decorative to begin with (wrestling origins were proving a bit of a hassle, again) but it'd have to suffice. EDIT: I rolled d3s above because I am a dingus. Command roll fix 4d6

The four canines almost immediately change targets, honing in on you and your pokemon. The two Electrike sprint ahead, hitting Ul and Turtwig with a Tackle. The Growlithe are hot on their tails, one spitting Embers at Iota and the other preparing to Roar.
Tackle vs Ul AC 2 vs w_2ZyxeW1d20 Damage: 1d8+17
Tackle vs Turtwig AC 2 vs 1d20 Damage: 1d8+17
Ember vs Iota: AC 2 vs 1d20 Damage: 2d6+18
Roar: At the end of the round the Growlithe shifts and anyone in range is forced to run away. Pokemon that are close enough to their changes are forced to return.1d20·1d8+17·1d20·1d8+17·1d20·2d6+18

Ul is smacked mid-transportation, and although hurt, still transforms into one of the electric types! Amanda looks at her and points her in the direction of the Growlithe. "One of them. Slow it down if you can."Ul obeys, launching a blast of stunning electric power at the Growlithe that hit her! Meanwhile, Amanda takes note of the attack that hit Ul in her notes, and looks down to Ekki behind her legs, waiting for the possible moment to send him in. Amanda uses Inspired Orders! Amanda uses 1 ap to take a record of Tackle!
Ul transforms via Imposter!
Ul then uses Thunder Wave vs Growlithe 1 Can't Miss Electric Status (Paralyze on hit)

Via's gaze narrows in on the Growlithe hanging back, waiting. It was planning something, and she didn't like it. She spared a quick moment to glance down at the turtwig beside her. "Focus fire with me."She rushes forwards through the mess of pokemon to the Growlithe in the backline, drawing the crude halberd from its sling on her back and swinging it primarily at the soon to be roaring one, attempting to catch the second Growlithe in a quick backswing. Her turtwig runs up beside her, also targeting the roaring Growlithe, targetting it with a harrying, chasing attack. I don't know if we got training in this morning or not, so I will be making posts under the assumption that no training has happened, for now.

Via and Turtwig easily KO the Growlithe that was preparing to roar as Iota and Ul strike true. The Bounsweet squeaks in surprise and leaps towards Ethan, taking cover behind his legs. The electrike continue to assault Ul and Iota.

Ul is hit, but Amanda orders her to de-transform enough to absorb the blow, and suddenly the attack isn't as strong as it could be. "Switch to one of the ones you've copied, and strike."Ul, still in Electrike form, rushes headlong into the one it copied after! Amanda uses Perseverance to prevent an injury to Ul!

The Electrike and Growlithe fall under the assault, leaving only the quivering Bounsweet. The pokemon remains hidden behind Ethan's legs for a few moments, only peering out once the absence of barking becomes obvious. Once it confirms the dogs are down for the count it jumps onto Ethan's head and pirouettes, before hopping off and floating back down to the ground, clearly thrilled by your actions. The party gain 20 pokemon experience each
