Seeing as the Fire Spin is aimed true Jane quickly follows up with another command. "Special tactics time!" she calls out - but the Flareon seems to understand this command and once more springs into action, surprisingly quick!
Init 20 - Fluffy uses Helping Hand (as a priority, from the future!) targeting himself. This triggers Encore Performance and Fluffy uses Flame Bite. If this hits, it will trigger Stacked Deck!

As Flareon emerges and fires a blast of flame at Linoone, the Lady quick-swaps in a different Pokemon. Pyroar. The fire-lion barely feels the effects of the fire spin.
Init - 18
Pyroar unleashes a savage and noble roar to weaken and demoralize its foe!

The lion's roar first seems to confuse the Flareon (wasn't that pokémon a lot less red just a few moments ago?!) but then it simply puffs up its fur in Defiance. With a strange feeling of deja vu Jane orders her pokémon to bite for the umpteenth time today! "Chomp it good!"
Init 20 - Fluffy uses Bite!

Pyroar yawns cutely at Fluffy the Flareon.
Yawn cannot miss. Target falls asleep at the end of its next turn.

The lion finally escapes the Vortex, which then somehow trips it up.1d20

Not wanting her pokémon to receive an annoying status Jane switches out Fluffy/Teus the Flareon to Tia the Dragalge! All right - time to change things up! she thinks to herself and keeps careful track of her opponents pokémon - maybe they'll try a sneaky switch again?

Tiamat hisses in indignation! Who was this lion to yell at her just as they were about to have a nice scuffle? Preposterous!
"All right Tia! Let's try for a double-spray combo!" Jane commands and the Dragalge happily obliges, unfurling its long body in anticipation.

The Pyroar is down in one hit and Linoone returns to the field. The Linoone gifts Dragalge with its held item.

Tia almost wishes she didn't get rid of that rude lion. This one was even worse! The Dragalge ows in pain as the Linoone scratches her up really nasty. But she isn't entirely defenceless! She gives back a sting from her Poison Point in exchange for the Flame Orb!
Sensing that her poor pokémon was in a bad spot, on fire and all, Jane commands her to try for the special tactics again!

That's a thing... Jane solemnly noted as the Linoone succumbed to poison just as it Slashed down Tia. But that also meant both her opponents pokémon was out - and she won! "Well fought!" she chirped as she returned Tia to her pokéball. "Interesting tricks."
After she retrieved the hefty prize sum - too much for her poor self to say no to - she decided to stick around a bit and see if she couldn't pick the Lady's mind a bit. If she was capable of handing out such prize sums she clearly must be doing something right! And she made some interesting plays ...
Eventually she'll bring up the topic of the Flame Orb again, asking if the Lady would like to trade it for a Stat Booster or a Rainbow Gem? Hopefully without being too bothersome - though that wasn't her first priority!

The Lady was about to walk away when you rushed over to ask (as politely as possible!) about acquiring the flame orb and her strategies. The slightly annoyed rich person ('ugh, how dare this yokel talk to me again!') reveals that she paid someone to come up with the fancy strategy for her. She battles for amusement, as her family is very wealthy. She examines your bauble (rainbow gem) and decides that she fancies putting it on her Linoone when showing it off to others. You can have the flame orb in exchange, as she can easily acquire more.

That went well! Jane thought to herself with a bit smile as she headed towards the pokécenter. Tia needed some healing and, since Jane herself couldn't help but check out the Flame Orb, so did she.
After that she'd relax a little bit and just enjoy the daylight. Not for too long, just a bit! Then it was time to set out for Celadon. Humming a faint tune she headed out on Route 6 with Teus in tow. Today was really a nice day! Perfect for a bit more Dowsing! she noted and brought forth her rod.

There was still plenty of day left when Jane reached Saffron City. But she elected to proceed straight to route 7 - after all if she stopped she didn't know how long she would wander around! And she wanted to make it to Celadon today. Hopefully. Not that far is it? Probably not. Anyhow! This route was also completely un-dowsed (by her!) so she kept her eye and rod out for shards.

"Hum-hum-hum!" Jane happily hummed as she surveyed her bounty. So many pretty things! And she'd need them too - a few Poison Braces wouldn't hurt. And she needed to find some time to sit down and replace her Rainbow Gem. Lost in thought she didn't notice that she almost bumped into ... Oh our eyes met - that means we must battle!

Jane bumps into a Rich Boy! He sneers at you and demands an apology for running into him. When you refuse (because he's so rude about it!), he declares that he will fight you and make you apologize after he beats your Pokemon.
He sends out a Typhlosion!

Running? It was more of wandering really! Jane thinks to herself as she considers her options. None of the grass types clearly. And Sam probably didn't want to be roasted either. That left three. That Typhlosion looked strong - and Teus struggled in mirror matches. Two. With a moment of hesitation Jane went for Tia whom felt like the safest option.
"Go Tia!" she cheered and released the Dragalge from her pokéball. The sea dragon pokémon hissed as she stared down her opponent.

Jane could feel her hair rise - her foe was plotting something, she wasn't just sure what! Let's try the obvious first at least! She pointed at the Typhlosion and ordered - "Aqua Pulse!" Tiamat eagerly obeyed and sent a jet of water the fire-pokémons way!

Tia *almost* manage to squiggle her way out of the psychic onslaught, but can't quite make it. Luckily she is tough! Even if the attack was super effective her boosted sp.def seems to block a significant chunk!
But all was not well - the Typlosion had managed to hurt Tia while Tia hadn't managed a thing! I need an insurance policy Jane thought to herself. Let's go for something that can't fail! "Tia use Toxic!"
The Sea Dragon reared and surged forward towards the Typhlosion and sent a thin stream of dangerous venom towards it! And to make matters worse, the Dragalge aimed for the face!
init 4 - Tia uses Toxic! (As a poison type, the move can't miss!) The Trickster feature activated - Opposed Stealth to blind her enemy for one round!
