Mary nods. "I was hoping you had the sense to know when you were outmatched. You can go get your Pokemon healed and return today for your match with the Leader, or you can return at a later time. I'm nearly always here, and I can track down Leader Nalkeya for you."
Her Venomoth returns to its normal state as she recalls it and Scolipede. Eve earns 17 Poke XP for defeating Garbodor.

Eve nodded... feeling completely like she didn't earn the win at all, but she wasn't going to complain. She wasn't going to re-enter the gym rashly either. "I couldn't even defeat a gym training," she rationalized, "I'll just be running into a harder brick wall against the leader. I should at least rest before running into the wall again." A little sad, she left behind the gym to heal her Pokemon and befuddle over what more she could do.

Eve finds a lil' Mantyke. It is just frolicking in the ocean alongside some Remoraid.

Eve... uh... beats it up... Well, she orders her Pokemon to beat it up. Man, that felt terrible to write out.

The poor, innocent Mantyke is beat up for 35 Poke XP. You get the feeling that when its mother finds it again, she will be coming for you.

Eve... carries on... yes. She ignores the bad feeling and continues to roll with it. This will probably bite her in the butt in the future, but that is a problem for future Eve.

It... it's a battle now?! Eve takes the hit like the sissy she is and, caught off guard, panic-opens with a Hyper Beam!
Hyper Beam AC 4 vs 2O2NkOKx1d20 Damage: 4d10+40
Um... Oops. She's exhausted now... and she has no desire to catch this Crawdaunt, either...1d20·4d10+40

The Crawdaunt also panics and hides behind a protective barrier! It attacks again when the coast is clear!
Protect from round 2 blocks Hyper Beam. Eve is Exhausted during round 2. Crawdaunt moves again on round 3.

It's a bit late, but Eve spends her shift action to send out Letty the Florges to assist her as she frantically tries to remember if Protect could be used twice in succession. She's not sure. She's still quite panicky, but at least she's past the indiscriminate-lazer-attack phase. She issues an Inspired Training order for Letty as a swift action and uses her own standard action to use Tri Attack. Letty strikes with Magical Leaf.
Tri Attack AC 2 vs ghEEPjAx1d20 Damage (there's a +5 from the Rainbow Gem that Iris is wearing that I forgot last round): 2d8+35 Effect: Tri Attack gives the target a Status ailment on 17+. If this effect is triggered, roll 1d3; on 1 the target is Paralyzed; on 2 the target is Burned; on 3 the target is Frozen.
Magical Leaf AC - vs 1d20 Damage: 2d6+441d20·2d8+35·1d20·2d6+44

The Tri-Attack barely fazes the nasty lobster/crab-thing, but that leafy blast quickly dispatches it, sending it careening back into the ocean with a loud splash.
Eve earns 35 Poke XP.

Eve's Pokemon manages to attract a Tirtouga. One of those fossil turtles.

Eve is about to beat this one up, too, when she hears, from aboard the boat, one or several or she doesn't know. People telling her to catch it. She gives them a brief, "WHY?!" look, but says nothing and sighs. Ugh. Catching Pokemon that weren't Eevee... How did one do that again? Oh, right, whittling them down and status effects.
Standard action: Use Flash. Shift action: Switch in Draconeon. Swift action: Issue Brutal Training orders. Draconeon: Dragon Breath
Flash AC 2 vs m8iBpMeu1d20 Effect: Lower the Accuracy of all legal targets by -1. *Grants Glow
Dragonbreath AC 2 vs 1d20 Damage: 2d8+10+35 Effect: Dragon Breath Paralyzes the target on 14+. (15+ originally -1 from Brutal Training.)

The turtle pokemon blinks a few times as the light temporarily blinds it and dives into the water to avoid the multicolored breath from the weird, flying thing. It rushes the Draconeon.

See? Catching Pokemon was haaaaaaaaaard.
Dia nimbly dodged the Aqua Jet and struck out with Dual Chop, backed by the Focused Training order Eve gave as a swift action. Eve tried to nail the Tirtuoga with a Tri Attack, hoping to inflict a status condition on it.
Dia's Dual Chop AC 3 vs NZaKfcZ11d20+2 and EDIT: Oh oops. I didn't put in that second roll correctly, ahaha... 1d20+2 Damage: 4d10+57
Eve's Tri Attack AC 2 vs 1d20
Damage: 2d8+30
Effect: Tri Attack gives the target a Status ailment on 17+. If this effect is triggered, roll 1d3; on 1 the target is Paralyzed; on 2 the target is Burned; on 3 the target is Frozen. 1d20+2··1d20+2·4d10+57·1d20·2d8+30

The turtle proves much tougher than expected, shaking off the chopping attack and the tri attack with (relative) ease. It lunges at the Draconeon.

The Draconeon is hit, but releases a Dragonbreath at the Tirtouga in retaliation. Eve issues brutal orders just in time for it to have effect. She then switches Draconeon out and sends out Illuseon instead.
Dragonbreath AC 2 vs ZwXOh2C61d20+1 Damage: 2d8+45 Effect: Dragon Breath Paralyzes the target on 15+ (14+ because brutal). 1d20+1·2d8+45
