The turtle begins clapping its flipper hands together slowly as it watches Yoko's display from its seat on the beach.
As the cloud of aerosolized potion its Layl's mouth she can immediately tell this was a mistake. The acrid taste fills her mouth immediately, leaving small patches of her cheeks and tongue slightly numb.

Iris claps alongside the turtle, but not before and continuing to snort with laughter. The display was impressive, even more so that Iris could be impressed by it while also finding it funny. With the battle over, Light was quick to return to her trainer. She stopped about a foot away from Iris, keeping in mind how Iris had pushed her away earlier, and fidgeted in place, too shy to call out for attention but seeking approval in the end. Light's fidgeting worked to catch Iris's attention, and she looked hesitantly upon her starter. Light had done a good job, and she had fought very well. She deserved praise, but the words were hard to give out, <What if I trust her too much and it turns out its all a trap?>. Still, Iris couldn't just leave a Pokemon, even one she had such biased suspicion against, untended. She tentatively called Light forwards while making it clear that this was not permission for Light to get all cuddly. Light perked up and half-bounced towards her trainer. She placed her little paws on Iris's lap as Iris had sat down now. Gingerly, Iris took Light's face into both hands and gave a quick inspection of the Zorua's body, finding the small, canine figure familiar in her grasp. From the fluffy collar that she had to be careful with as it was prone to hiding small injuries to the bushy tail that sometimes tangled like nothing else and so always got a casual brush through during inspections like these, the Zorua's body wasn't much different from an Eevee's. Light nuzzled whatever she could of Iris's hand during this inspection all the way up until it was done. However, like the well-mannered little kit she was, once Iris finished the inspection and her thoughts made it clear that she was uncomfortable with all the touchy-touching, Light docilely backed and sat in front of Iris. Her head turned this way and that every now and then, keeping a lookout on the general surroundings. There were no injuries found on Light, and Iris didn't remember seeing Light get hit, so Iris stood up and looked over at the group as a whole. Layl spritzed potion into her mouth like it was one of those spray candies. Iris... was just going to let her figure that out by herself. In the meantime, she closed her eyes to help herself focus on the trio of new Pokemon she had just seen. What information was there to help her understand these creatures?

Layl recoils from the bottle, immediately dropping the potion and grabbing her face in horror as she started spluttering. "Blegh, Wh-what is this! Ugh!" She eventually ran over to the water and dunked her head in. Bubbles rising above where her head was submerged. She sucked in the water, desperate to get the taste and feeling out of her mouth. After a few moments, she started dunking her head in and out of the water continuously.
After her brief episode comes to a close, she crawls back to dry land. Crashing her body against the sand as if she had lost the will to live. She lied there for a minute before flopping over onto her back, and proclaiming "I'm Dead, Strike me down now so this feeling can end!" She may have been hamming it up, but god that was awful, she felt like she was poisoned. The potions lied to her!

Shossk slowly lowers his bow as he watches Yoko's display, which ends in the two unconscious leeches exploding into money. It was an intriguing display, to be sure, but maybe not a wholly practical one. "Golld is useful. I am unsure iff it is worth the loss of meat."
Nonetheless, after acquiring his hippo-laden summoning sphere, Shossk dives back out into the shallows to retrieve all of the coins that fell in the water, along with his three arrows if they're still usable. He deposits them on the shore in a pile. "I amm unsure what each coin is worth. I wwould ask that an even share be given to eacch of us."
It's at this time that Layl flops on the ground after spraying a potion in her own mouth, asking for death. Was she poisoned? Had the leeches given her a deathly illness? She didn't look like she was dying, but that doesn't necessarily offer much insight into her condition. "Your deathh would be unfortunate - it would put us at a dissadvantage against the other teams. If you do nnot have healing remedies, perhapss you will heal in time."
Speaking of other teams- "We sshould get moving. Other teams may havve seen us fall. They may try to sstrike while we are vulnerable. We should rest before thenn."
All throughout this Calt alights on a nearby tree branch, preening and ridding himself of any leftover goo from those gross leeches. Eugh.

Upon hearing the clapping from the spectators, Yoko couldn't help but swell her chest with pride, internally celebrating her well executed finishing move. Her bubble was burst, however, when she soon heard Iris laughing, and she turned to look at the smaller girl with an incredulous look on her face (which again couldn't be seen because of the mask). What baffled Yoko even more was that Iris was also applauding her. She couldn't even comprehend why Iris was laughing at her in the first place. "Wh-what's so funny?" she asked with a stutter, her voice slightly muffled by the mask. Did she screw something up with her performance? Wait, her costume wasn't ripped anywhere, was it?! Now concerned that she may have damaged her costume in the scuffle, Yoko quickly took her mask off and inspected her costume with a critical eye, but it was unscathed. Now Yoko was even more confused, and so she looked back at Iris, hoping that the girl would at least explain why she found her performance funny. Because Yoko was so hung up on wanting to know why Iris was laughing at her, she failed to notice Layl spraying herself in the mouth with a potion. So when the other girl started gagging and dunking her head in the water, Yoko was alarmed. "Layl?! Are you okay?!" It was definitely a stupid question, especially after witnessing the girl get beaten up by several of those leech monsters, but Yoko felt it was necessary to ask. And she wasn't being idle during this time either, no. Yoko quickly rushed over to her backpack and, after setting her quarterstaff down beside her, began rummaging through her drenched belongings until she found the first aid kit. She took hold of that, then rushed over to the injured girl's side and sought to comfort the girl as best as she could. Draining 1 AP to apply some First Aid to Layl. Layl heals 5 HP.
Note to self: get Hero's Journey Rank 3 ASAP so you can apply your Survival Rank instead of your Medicine Ed for future First Aid checks.

Layl sputters a little due to the water in her mouth, as she tries to answer Yoko. Instead she just sends a garbled cry and water flies from her mouth as she attempts to sit up. After Yoko starts applying the first aid, Layl finally manages to get a grip of her faculties and stinging tongue. "That poshion tased horrible!, What is wrong with it?" She stumbled some words due to the tongue feeling a bit numb.
She glared at the bottle, fallen into the sand right over there, beside it's other partner. Evil had infected her potions, and that was simply awful, since she certainly needed help right now. Yoko bandaged her up, but Layl knew she needed some magical help, or this could go bad. "Anyone have exstra curatives? Mine sheem to have been poishened"

As Iris concentrates on each of the different Pokemon, in turn, a blurb pops into her head that seems very much like a Pokedex entry.
Bleech - Poison/Dark type - They swarm in pools and marshes waiting for unsuspecting prey to fall in. They will then converge and drain their victim of their vital fluids only stopping when there is nothing left.
Floappull - Water/Fighting type - Territorial and brutal, Floappull will pick fights with anything that gets even remotely close to their preferred spot.
Tarphaggos - Grass/Rock type - They will often sit in the same spot for days, absorbing light and nutrients from the soil. Only moving when the spot becomes too dangerous or no longer contains enough food to sustain them.

Yoko looked over to the potions that Layl had accused were poisonous, then turned her attention back to Layl. "I... don't think you're supposed to drink them," she replied with some uncertainty, furrowing her brows in thought. "It's probably an antiseptic, and they're definitely not safe to drink. Since it's in a spray bottle, I think you're supposed to spray yourself with it around where it hurts," she then tried to explain, using her very limited medical knowledge and her own past experiences with using medicine as her basis. After she finished packing up her first aid kit, Yoko got up and walked over to the discarded potions, and then bent down and picked them up. With the potions in hand, Yoko walked back over to Layl and knelt down beside the girl. "So, where does it hurt?" she asked as she readied one of the potions in her hand, the other one being put down beside her first aid kit.

Layl quirks an eyebrow at Yoko, but it was a potion, you drank those. She shook her head of those thoughts. "Ah, well my ankles, mostly, they kept biting them, they really did a number on them" As she said that she removed her shoes so Yoko could get a better look, she at least had some training in medicine, at least more than Layl did, at any rate. "So, it' going to hurt, isn't it?" This is why she preferred magic, everything else takes way too much effort.

"It'll probably sting a little," Yoko admitted as she aimed the nozzle at the bite marks, but before she sprayed she offered her free hand to Layl. She would wait a moment to see if Layl would take her hand or not, and once she got her answer, she would then spray the contents of the bottle onto each bite mark in turn.

Layl took Yoko's hand, and she was certainly glad she did. She clenched Yoko's hand and let out a loud wince as the potion was applied. Layl hated natural medicines because of things like this. She wanted to desperately squirm, but she needed to stay still until Yoko was finished, upon witch when she was, Layl immediately started waving her legs in the air, the cool air soothing the sting. "I hate how medicine feels, If I can get healing magic I'm going for it first chance I get"
It seemed to work faster than most medicines she had experienced, but it still left that numb feeling. It was such a pain to deal with. "Thanks, Yoko, I need a minute to gain some feeling back but after that I should be good to go. I'm still a bit injured, but that's going to take some time to heal, besides I think it's just a sprain"

After receiving the pokedex entry information, Iris quietly contemplates over what to do next, <Shelter? Move on? Food? Meat for the carnivores? Go down? Stay up? Explore? Finish?> as she spreads out her bag's belongings. Everything was still sopping wet, and it was still too early to tell the extent of the damage. Well, she could always try out each and every one of her possessions, but that risked further damage than what had already been caused. Delicately, Iris rearranged her bag, putting what she knew was waterproof on the top so that she could access it easily and everything else at the bottom as she had no plans of using any of it quite yet.
"Shossk," Iris stands up and asks while Layl and Yoko figure assess the extent of Layl's injuries, though they were free to join, "If we follow a river that flows from this lake, it should take us straight to the edge of this island. I think it's the best lead we have, and we can try to set up camp somewhere along it. What do you think?". Walking closer to Shossk, she gives a nod in Calt's direction. "We can also use Calt to scout," Iris suggests. She turns to address Calt directly, "If you will allow me, then I can see through your eyes while you fly." Her friendly smile breaks with hesitation, though. With a voice touched by worry, Iris admits to Shossk and Calt alike, "It's just... I've never heard of any of these Pokemon we've just faced. They feel even more alien to me than Calt does. I'm worried that if he is seen by an opposing team who's still on this top island, then he can give away our location even further." To be honest, she still wasn't sure of how to address half of her worries and she wanted to talk about it with the others, but Shossk had a good point, one in which speed was important. For now, Iris would need to settle with approaching each problem as it came.
In the meantime, Light remained with of the Tarphaggos. The two of them had been left without any particular command other than a vague excuse along the lines of, "Wait, I need to figure this out first." Iris didn't trust Light enough to help her come to a decision regarding the group's movements. The Tarphaggos, while a welcome new friend and definitely free to follow along for however long he'd like if he found this interesting, wasn't a part of the team so it wasn't right to burden him with expectations to help.
After a bit of staring at Iris, Light's attention would turn to the turtle Pokemon. She yipped a greeting before circling around to the other side of the green Pokemon, so that now the Tarphaggos stood between Light and her trainer.

Shossk stares at Iris for a moment, silently considering her options. "Ffollowing the river would aid our passage, but it is alsso predictable. If therre is another team on this island, they could easily track uss, or prepare an ambush." He pauses, then tilts his head slightly in thought. "Iff we know there is danger, we can prepare for it. If our eyes are ssharp and we remain unseen, we could foil such an ammbush." He nods at his dartrix decisively. "Calt's eyess are sharp, and we are both skilled in sstaying out of sight."
Calt visibly swells with pride for a moment, Calt's feathers floofing out at the praise. He looks at Iris questioningly, though.
Iris' mention of her powers catches the lizardman's attention, as well. "Cann you see through my eyes as well? Is yourr power limited to these creatures? I agree that Calt sshould not fly above the trees, but such a power would provve invaluable, still."

Light peeks around the Tarphaggos just to make double sure that Iris isn't paying any attention. Their channeled bond was still intact, of course, but that didn't mean Iris was all-aware about everything Light did. Seeing Iris focused on her conversation with Shossk, Light reared backwards to sit on her haunches, paws wriggling in excitement. Without further ado, an illusion covered Light and she now looked exactly like the Tarphaggos she mirrored, down to the pose and the slow wave. She'd been wanting to do sort of play for a while but hadn't had the chance to because she didn't want to make her trainer uncomfortable.
Iris, meanwhile, really was focused on Calt and Shossk. "I could, yes," she gave an answer to Shossk's question, "If it's just seeing through your eyes, there's not much different, but that's about all I can do when I link to a non-Pokemon. What... are you thinking about doing?". If the answer was to split the party, then Iris was immediately against it. Booting the front liners into combat? Yeah, she could live with that, but even then, the farthest she had ever been was one portal away from them. Albeit, a portal she could neither hear nor see through, but she was right there and ready to aid them in their retreat whenever they came throguh.

Yoko winced a little at Layl's vocal wince, and sympathetically squeezed the girl's hand back as she continued to squeeze out squirt after squirt of the potion. She wasn't sure how much of the potion she was supposed to used, but considering that AL had called this a game and had given them so many of these potions, Yoko figured that it wouldn't work unless she used up every single drop, so she emptied the potion as best as she could.
"Done," she announced as she set the now empty potion down, leaving the medicine to run its course. Yoko's eyes widened in surprise as she watched the wounds and scrapes start to rapidly heal before her eyes, yet another reminder of how different this world was to her own. There was still some injuries left over, so Yoko gave Layl a concerned look. "Don't push yourself too hard, okay? We're here to help you out," she told Layl, giving the girl's hand another comforting squeeze.

Then we return to plann our strategy."As the two discuss their plans, Calt is just about done preening, putting the finishes touches on his quills just so. He gives a final flourish and flips his bangs away. In doing so he notices the second turtle that suddenly appeared. He swivels his head about between the two, then to the forest. Were these turtles multiplying?

The Tarphaggos covered its mouth in surprise when the tiny fox suddenly changed shape. After a moment of stunned amazement, the smile returned to its face as it bounced up and down clapping once more.

Layl nods to Yoko, letting her grip loosen so she can take her hand back. "Yeah, I'm used to being able to handle more than I currently can, It will take some time to get used to the fact I can't handle everything as I used to" Layl looked over at her keyblade, calling it over to her hand, can't lose that again.
Nacht on the other hand, looked over at the other Zorua changing shape, Was it trying to show off? Can't let it show off alone, Nacht was better after all, at least in his head. He took a moment to mark the turtle in his head, before changing shape just as well. After changing shape he moved on up to join the duo and show off that he was just as good as Light.

Light mimicked the turtle exactly, if with a few moments delay, covering her mouth in surprise just as the turtle did and then smiling, bouncing, and clapping after the shock passed. She felt uncomfortable when the other Zorua moved in, her instincts riling up and telling her that one of them needed to be the definite boss. However, he wasn't attacking her, just copying her, and she didn't want to give her trainer cause to hate her even more. She stayed in the act of mirroring the turtle's every movement without breaking it for a moment. No noticeable acknowledgement of Nacht from Light.
Iris is still focused on discussion with Shossk. "I could do that...," she offers, "but I'd prefer surveying through Calt," and motions to Calt without really looking at him since he'd proven himself to be not particularly interested in the discussion at hand, "It's only through Pokemon that I can regulate how much of their world and how much of my world I see. From what I'm understanding of the description, it looks like with humans and, in your case, lizardfolk, it's all or nothing. Not to mention, I can also 'talk' with Pokemon when we're connected. It'll be easier for me to be aware of my immediate situation if I just keep a light touch on what he's sensing and let him tell me whenever the two of you spot danger. Vice versa when we're in danger."
