One more week, just at most 168 hours away and Marcus would be free to go anywhere he pleases. The city might be his home for the last four years, but a citizen of the globe never settle at the same place for too long. No, the world is his home and he shall walk the Earth, like many explorers before him. Even better, he would have a Pokemon of his own to start his journey with, and the information of his potential starters was all inside this little bag that hanged by his doorstep. All students were well-aware of this day, and to some of them, this was a very important day. Yet, his roommates seemed to not think that way. None of them has taken their bag yet and Marcus found his on the back of two other bags.
First and foremost, I, Melissa Baaiman, give you, Marcus Redmont, my sincerest congratulation to you. I totally understand that you cannot wait to go out there and explore, especially after years of sitting in classes. I do, however, would ask you to not forget this school and what it has done for you. A seed cannot grow without the help of others, be it the sun or the rain; a Pokemon grow better under their parents' or breeders' protection and guidance; and human are no different. To be honest, I am quite surprised and flattered that you have such deep interest in my classes. Many theory lecturers have mentioned your hyperactivity and lack of focus yet I have seen none of them in my classes. I hope you can keep that part of you with you throughout your journey. Your excellence in all the physical classes is great but I hope you would also take some time to expand your mind to things out there. You are a Virizion -- we see the world not only with our body and sense, but our mind as well.
[OOC: You are well-aware that Melissa used to be a Cobalion lecturer, why explain why she is so good with typing and lectured a lot of typing-related classes. She quitted Cobalion few years ago, feeling that lecturers there are underappreciated by their students, many of them with high ego and some even think they are better than their teachers.]

Option 1
Aipom, M
Height: 2' 0"
Weight: 18lbs
[Pictures: A lot of them are him in the wild, some alone, some with other Pokemon. You almost cannot find a picture of him standing or sitting, he is always on the move]
The first option is an Aipom, a very generic choice for any starting trainer. Being a Normal type, he can fit into any team and any scheme. While Normal type can be dull, it is also the Type that packs the most potential in terms of move versatility. That's what I would say in Cobalion, but eh, I don't think students here are looking at their starters only in their battle prowess.
This Aipom is not so different from other Aipom; very active, loves to do all kind of physical exercise like running around, climbing and swinging like he is Tarzan and so on. As he is still young and has not fully grown yet, you should expect him to be extra playful and sometime, disobedient to you. Despite the rancher's best effort, he just does not stay quiet on a spot long enough and will disappear into somewhere else. The good news is that he always go back to the spot after he disappears so you can just stay and wait for him. However, the wild is not a playground and it might come to a point where you are in a dilemma and have to choose between leave the spot to look for him or staying where you are and hope he comes back. Finding another Pokemon partner who is willing to stay and the spot and has a way to communicate to you if the Aipom come back is highly recommended. On top of my mind, any Flying Pokemon that can find you on the sky afterward will do, or you can go for a Pokemon that can make some kind of signal, like a Fire Pokemon can produce smoke up the air. Furthermore, he is just like you, always looking for new things so expect his attention to go all around him instead of you. You might need to repeat what you want to say to him a lot, be mentally prepared for that.
Aside from his tendency to go away, this Aipom has one big issue -- he is usually complacent. As you would know by now, not all Pokemon are born with the champion mentality. They are no different from human being, some of us are more hardworking than others, some of us are very lazy. This Aipom is not lazy by any mean, but he is like a six years old kid who just wants to play game and not do his homework, especially when he has just won a recent fight. This might sound like trouble, but you cannot ignore all the other Aipom that consistently runs away from their trainers or pull pranks on them. This one is actually well-discplined among Aipom, which is why he is given as a starter.

Treecko, F
Height: 2' 0"
Weight: 9lbs
[Pictures: Like her weight and height tells you, she is tall and lanky. Many of her pictures are in training with her rancher. Some others are her playing with others, a lot of them above the ranch's trees. There is only one picture of her with a sighting of water, in which she climbs to the very top of a Sudowoodoo, whose lower body are inside the water, and hugs its tip tightly.]
If you prefer a quieter Pokemon, then this female Treecko will be your cup of tea. To clarify that statement, I don't mean she is all quiet, calm and generally don't do anything. She wants to play, she likes to play but she also like being called a "good girl" by the rancher, be acknowledged and rewarded for her good behavior, so she forces herself to be the good girl that the rancher wants her to be. In any case, she is absolutely obedient and will follow all your commands, like a soldier, if you don't mind that comparison.
Her true self is revealed after you give her permission to have fun and do whatever she wants. In which case, she will climb around anything she finds, play with her playmates - she really likes playing with others so you should definitely find her some friends and/or join in the fun yourself - and just generally being a Pokemon her age would be.
She loves climbing around and scouting on the horizon. She will prove very useful in the wilderness as long as she can get to a higher horizontal point and you learn to understand what she is talking about. Admittedly, this is a skill that comes with a lot of experience and no theory will help, You do not have to feel bad about your inexperience in this part -- just observeand learn.
For all she is, a good starter, great in the wild, obedient, she has two weaknesses. First one, and a very serious one, is her aquaphobia. I am sure you have learned them from the classes but Pokemon come with different phobias, no matter how implausible. For instance, a Fire Pokemon can be afraid of a harmless Weedle. In her case, her fear stemed for an accident that came when she was very young. An Aron thought it has finally learnt how to swim and asked others to climb up for a ride. So, she did and so did another Pokemon, a Fire type, in fact. The Aron, along with the added weight, sunk right into the pond. All three Pokemon did not know what to do, and out of fear they just clinged to the Aron and sunk further. They were all saved by the rancher and her Machamp later but that experience pretty much gave all three Pokemon aquaphobia. Surprisingly, the Fire Pokemon is the only one to have overcome that fear by now. Whatever you do, do not push her on this. Again, I repeat, do not try to drag her into water thinking she can conquer it. You will just make her hate you, even if she do it out of obedience.
Secondly, she isn't the bravest out there. The aquaphobia might have affected her in this part but she is not. You cannot just read the Pokedex entry and think she is fearless. It is true that she is of a predator species but a species does not dictate everything. It is your job to help her with these fears.

Nature: Cuddly/Patient/Desperate/Lax/Modest/Mild/Gentle/Careful/Skittish/Timid/Docile
Ability: Either
Background: Good Girl - Yes, sir
Increased: Charm(Not because she exudes charisma but she actively does things to make people like her)
Decrease: Command(Too obedient, follow command than to take the lead)
Traits
Aquaphobia - Refuse to swim(starts with Swim 0), especially skittish around Water Pokemon or any pool of water that can drown her, as if she is Fire type. In battle, Water attack will dampen her will to fight, reducing two of her randomly chosen C.S. by0 -1(can be the same C.S. twice).
Far from the Bravest - Focus is lowered by 1d6 to represent cowardice and lack of willpower

Mudbray, F
Height: 1' 5"
Weight: 70lbs
[Pictures: A lot of her pictures are of her galloping around and jumping. In this particular case, "jumping" means whenever her feet leave the ground. There are also plenty of pictures of her getting raised high into the air when she's smaller]
For the third option, we have this Mudbray who would probably enjoy her life better if she is not a Mudbray. She has a little dream, a dream that is quite impossible for a Mudbray to achieve -- she wants to fly or at the very least, jump very high so she can have the illusion of flying for a second. She reminds me of the protagonist of The Ugly Ducklett, except this is real life so the beautiful ending might not come to her. With that said, her favorite creature is pegasus, the mythical horse with wing. If we are going for a more realistic yet mythical option, then Shaymin. The least you can do for her is to bring her to movies or let her watch some television shows with such creatures.
Aside from that little quirk of her, she is like the many Mudbray you will find: very determined, or stubborn, if you prefer that word and mentally slow. As you would already know by now, patience is virtue when dealing with a Pokemon like her. Your instruction has to be clear, preferably short and clean. Anyway, as I said, she is stubborn and she is still pursuing her pegusus dream. She jumps a lot everyday even if that is not part of her training routine. The rancher has tried to make her stop but to no avail until the day she is given to the school. You might have to slowly work her away from that if you feel she is wasting her time. If you are crazy, you can try to train her that way. It is one way to show her that she has done her best and maybe she will understand as she mature.
One more thing, she is still a toddler by now. She is given to the school because Mudbray is combat ready by this stage of their life but keep in mind that she is not going to be ridable right away. More importantly, you might want to carry her or lift her as much as you can before she grows too big for you. Unless you are confident you can lift a 240 pounder - I don't - then cherish the little time you have before she grows up and reverse the roles. She very much enjoys getting lifted up toward the cloud and trying to reach for it with her muddy hoofs. As she is very young, she much prefers to stick to your side than going elsewhere. This is the pick if you prefer a Pokemon who does not just go around roaming just because he wants to.

Nature: Cuddly/Decisive/Desperate/Adamant/Brave/Stark/Bold/Rash/Dreamy/Composed/Hardy/Serious
Ability: Stamina, no choice
Background: Wingless Pegasus - I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky
Increased: Acrobatics/Focus(Acrobatic comes from her jumping training; focus because she never gives up)
Decrease: Survival/Athletics(She is a ranch-breed and has shown no wild awareness, which is why she is given to you, someone who is capable on that side; she trade away her athleticism for more acrobatic prowess)
Traits
Pegasus Dream - She wants to complete her pegasus dream but which side are you on? Can you tap into her potential as a jumper and break the mold? Or would you prefer to train her like a regular Mudbray and have her experience flying in other way, like on top of a Flying Pokemon? Your decision will affect her growth, her view on you and so on.
Toddler - Mountable 0, Power 5, grow by level; temporary -1 mod to all stats until level 20
Height: 1' 5"
Weight: 70lbs
