The pokeball, at the very least, would be retrieved, so the adventure wasn't a waste, off in nearby distance, a grumpy lotad finally flips back the right way up.

Taking a deep breath, "here, I found this," tossing the poke ball to Jamie.
Just then, Badit decided to reemerge, carrying something. "Hey Bandit, remember how you enjoyed throwing that apple core at me? Well, see that lillypad doing flips over there?" he points, "well, there are some rocks, have fun. see if you can provoke it."
Orin remained sitting as Bandit dropped what he was holding (previous pickup check 11) at Orin's side. Then he went for the rocks.

Speaking of Pokeballs, Bandit would have dropped just that at orin's side. Bandit would spend some time throwing rocks, clearly having practice in doing so, the lillypad sinking from the weight of rocks in the brim, small bubbles rising up in the eddy.

Jamie looks on appreciatively at the Aipom's aim as the lilypad sinks beneath the water. "If you're planning on catching it, I can help keep it still if you want? Might not have much in the way of Pokemon, but I still have a net."

The bubbles would continue for a few moments, before slowing and eventually stopping. and, after awhile, a new 'lillypad' would drift into the eddy

Jamie looks out at the river, the Oddish still bobbing along and the muck stirred up by Orin nearly out of sight. "No offense, but seeing what happened to you and Shapiro, I'll probably stay out of there for now. If you can get one over here though, I'll be game for it."

"I guess that's how it would work, if I had very long arms. You could probably fish something into range if you're feeling up to it, then I could net it for ya." Jamie thinks a moment. "I guess if that Oddish has the same sweet smell thing as the ones at the gym, that could work too, but I dunno if it'd bring in anything from the river."

Bandit turned his attentions to the trees, throwing rocks into the woods, aming for nothing in particular, just enjoying the rustle of the leaves.

With a bit of effort, and some skill with fishing, a pokemon is pulled from the water! landing on the short, the bait, and end of line, gone in it's mouth, an Azurill, a tiny thing, stands there looking honestly bewildered at what just happened to it. It looks up at J, it's baby eyes wide and glimmering with innocence

Unsure of what do do next, Orin hesitated a moment. He could try to fight it, but it seemed so sweet; it felt wrong. That would weaken it however, but could knock it out. Going right in for it would be a risk too but...
Picking up the pokeball from Bandit, "alright, I don't want to hurt it if I don't have to, net it and get it away from the water and I'll give if a go."

Jamie looks back at the baby Pokemon she pulled up, studying it before sighing. "Not exactly a size record, but sure, can do. Hold still, little guy." Setting her rod down and grabbing her net, she angles the net down towards the Azurill and tries to gently scoop the Pokemon up.

The Azurill would would out a soft squeak, it's legs sweeped up from under it as it was tucked into the net, it's buoy at the end of it's tail sticking out and bobbling about as it'd look through the mesh, line still stuck in it's mouth.

The pokemon would vanish, into the ball, hardly struggling. The bait was gone, as was the hook, oddly enough, but the pokemon was caught, healthy as ever!
