“Hey, kids! It’s time for your parents’ annual summer cruise! And guess where you’re going to be staying?”
“At Great Uncle Stan’s cabin in that hick town, where we stayed for the last ten summers.”
“At your cousin Hau’s place in Alola!”
“Dad, you’re blocking the t- wait, WHAT?!”
One year after the “Never mind all that” incident, the Alola region has returned to normal- though there have been some changes. There’s a newly established League, headed by twin champions Sol and Luna, Team Skull has disbanded completely (the “Team Reskull” rebranding didn’t work out as hoped), and the Aether Foundation has stopped being Lusamine’s means for realizing her personal goals. Heck, the Foundation’s personal island is now prime a battling and vacation area.
There is one dark side to all this. As a result of the “Never mind all that” incident, teleportation in all forms has been outlawed, with harsh penalties for any who engage in it. This has led Warpers to band together, forming Team Rift; Team Rift engages in vigilante acts of good, capturing the hearts and minds of citizens across the region, all the while vexing local law enforcement in a manner similar to Lupin Arsene III.
You and your fellow players are siblings, sent to stay with your cousin Hau in Alola while your parents go on their annual summer cruise. You have 104 (in-game) days to spend with your cousin and explore the Alola region. Think about it- surfing, scuba diving, spear fishing, hula dancers, lying in the sun, the charcoal remains of people who laid too long in the sun… much better than slumming it in Great Uncle Stan’s cabin and the nuclear-powered blood-sucking Zubat that reside there.
Your journey in a new region starts now!
The "Never mind all that" incident
On teleporting
Important Information
Tone: In case you haven’t guessed, this campaign is heavily based on Gravity Falls. As such, the tone will be similar- and there may also be codes and mysteries for you to solve. It’ll also be inspired (somewhat) by the anime.
Player Characters: All PCs must follow these rules:
• You’ll all be aged from 10-12. No exceptions.
• You’re all siblings.
• You may have read about Alola, but you’ve never been there.
• The only person you know in Alola is your cousin Hau. You’ve met him, and he’s a nice guy.
• Be a world-weary character if you like, but no stupidly grimdark characters. This isn’t that kind of campaign.
• Nothing from Blessed and the Damned.
• Only the Jailbreaker or Roboticist from Do Porygon Dream of Mareep?
• Nothing from Game of Throhs.
• If you choose to go Warper, remember the strict rules Alola has about teleporting.
• You start with your own Pokémon. All starters must abide by the following rules:
o First forms with the Underdog capability
o No Fossils, Legendaries, or Pseudo-legendaries
o It must not be in the Alola regional PokeDex.
o One egg move per starter. If you have the Mentor class, you can Move Tutor your Pokémon before travelling to Alola.
o Beyond those three stipulations, take your pick! Ghost, steel, and rock types are allowed!
Rotom Dex: You’ll get one!
Player/Starter Level: Players are at level 1. Starters are at level 5.
Playtest material: All of it.
Home Region: It's not really that important to the story, and thus can remain nameless. That being said, if it's something that you absolutely must have, we'll work it out.
Alola Pokémon:See this for what I’ll be using. Never mind all that. A Pokedex was made and released in accordance to the moves/abilities Doxy released; I'll be using that instead.
Inventory: At the start of the game, before your parents bundle you onto the plane, you'll each be given $2000 and 5 basic balls. The Rotom Dex will be handed out later by Professor Kukui.
Number of players: 3
Game medium: Play by Post
Closing date for applications: May 5th
Start Date: Unknown as of now.
Player Expectations:
• Obviously, be a good sport about it. This is just a game after all.
• Attend. This may seem obvious, but it’s been a problem in many of my games. There will be harsh punishments for going AWOL on me.
• Keep it PG-Rated. We can still have fun without being vulgar. Dropping a double entendre is fine.
• I respect my players, and I want them to have a good time. But in return, I ask that you respect my decisions and my authority as GM.
More will be added as needed.
FAQs:
You said we can’t choose from the Alola Dex. Does that mean Pokémon not found in Alola (like Tropius) won’t be available?
Pokémon not found in Alola will be available, but they’ll be rarer than normal. For example, Kyogre could be found in the deepest parts of the sea near Alola.
But I wanna play my ex-murderer soldier guy who runs around and shoots people for fun!
Find another campaign then. I understand Personamon is recruiting.
Imma murder that guy!
Congratulations. Not only are you booted from the campaign, your character is now in prison. Don’t drop the soap!
That NPC called me names. I’m going to bully them into suicide!
Not okay. Rube Goldberg revenge plots are fine. Continuous torture of NPCs (i.e., turning their lives into a living hell) is not okay. Verbal warning, then your character becomes an NPC, and you are booted.
Experience rules?
Standard, as per the core rulebook.
Oopsies! I dropped an F-Bomb!
I’m actually not gonna be too hard on that. If you’re obviously baiting me, I’ll stop it. Cuss me out, and you’re booted from the campaign.
What about the Ultra Beasts and Beast Balls?
Spoilers.
Ur r00lz r st00p1d!
To bad for you.

The "Never mind all that" incident
The "Never mind all that" incident was the events of the Sun and Moon games. Though, obviously, most people in the region don't know about it, the few people respond to inquiries about it with an off-hand "Never mind all that" and change the subject.
On teleporting
Technically, you can get away with teleporting- or, more accurately, a collar that prevents you from teleporting. Removing that collar is a no-no and is what gets you things like jail time.
Punishments for teleporting are only enforced in civilized areas. You can teleport all you like outside of town.
Now, what's the rationale for not teleporting? The barriers between the world and Ultra Space are tenuously thin here in Alola. Due to the physics of teleporting, every time you teleport, that barrier becomes a little thinner. Eventually, it'll snap. But what's the Alolan government supposed to say? "You can't teleport or scary monsters will appear?" Yeah, who'd believe that?
In game terms, this means that every time a person or Pokemon teleports, there is a 5% chance that a portal to Ultra Space opens, and a random Ultra Beast comes through. It may or may not be of your level.
